Well, you've read the notes, the notes were ME notes, and now it is time for you to post until the ME cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SAPPHIRE!

Up early to usher for a Pride bunch. We’re putting together goody bags first.

-
Good morning, all!

I slept well until 2:00 or so, took a tramadol and a tizanidine and slept fitfully until I checked the clock and it was 6:45. During those four hours I had a long cuddle with Stella who kept kicking me for more bed space, a short visit from Annabelle on her way to her princess pillow where she sleeps next to me, and a constant visits from Thatch, who likes to sleep as closely as possible to me, after his treks to a snack or the litter box.
-
by a curious coincidence, as I began to read today's notes, I was listening - still am! - to Faure's Requiem.
-
Last night I began Caleb Carr's final book My Beloved Monster. His prose is beautiful but I find it very dense; perhaps that's why, after reading The Alienist, which I enjoyed, I never felt the urge to read its sequel. This new book is a killer, with a palpable sense of loss and grief that's almost unbearable.

That sounds terrific!
-
Why do I do these things to myself?
Oh, maybe not so terrific?

Tomorrow I am having a visit with a home healthcare nurse who will assess my need for physical therapy, so I have some tidying up to accomplish today. Tonight I'll watch the last two acts of La Vie Parisienne.

It rained early this morning. The temp is 74 degrees so the doors and windows are open for awhile.
It is overcast so the sun is NOT shining through.
-
DR FREDDIE I know of no plans for streaming but will ask about it this week and see if anything like that is happening.
-
Good morning, all.
-
A real day off for moi, and it is much appreciated.
-
DR FREDDIE I know of no plans for streaming but will ask about it this week and see if anything like that is happening.
Or even if not in real time, maybe a version that can be shown later?
That could be used to generate interest in doing the play.
-
Great thought, DR Freddie.
-
It's one or the other, folks.

A few of you saw housemate Kristi's post about TITANIC, and I have to say I could easily have sat through its last two performances in addition to ours. Not for $200 a pop, but, you know.
For this score in particular, I have to consider this Encores! presentation a once in a lifetime treat. You're never going to hear it like this again.
-
Good to hear.
-
DR Jrand73, I've got my reservation for the reading next week. I think you posted the link again yesterday? So just sayin'. Looking forward to it.
-
It was TCB who was something of a Titanic fanatic, wasn't it? I don't recall the origin of that for him.
Kristi is another one, but she has always been obsessed with studying both natural and human-created disasters. I had given her BK's Varese compilation CD of TITANIC a long time ago, and she insisted on taking that to the NYC Kritzerland show to ask BK to sign it.
-

Are you driving there to see it?

Are you driving there to see it?
Um, no. I thought it was, indeed, being streamed or zoomed. Am I so wrong? Woops!
-
Anyhoo...
I almost had to think the sound at yesterday's performance was the best, most exquisitely balanced, most satisfying blend, of anything I've attended yet at Encores! And thank God for that. But they do it well there, as a rule.
Someone posted that the amplification at FOLLIES the other night - in Carnegie Hall, of all places - was notably awful.

I am pleased to read the repor on Titanic. Such a beautiful score.

A lull in the morning. It’s going to be a long one.

Hello and happy Sunday! With the recent passing of the wonderful Janis Paige at the age of 101, we are doing a Putting it Together episode of her biggest Broadway success The Pajama Game using 4 different cast recordings. Plus, we will hear Janis on a few fun bonus tracks at the end of the episode...check it out!

Sunday morning greetings! Since it’s a litter cooler today, I might venture outside. Or not.
-
Don't let Stella see that!

I tried to listen to the OBC of Titanic on the treadmill this morning, but my earphones kept disconnecting.

Slow news day on HHW.

It is 78 degrees with a nice breeze - so I don't think I need the A/C today.

I just stepped out back to scatter some leftover popcorn for the birds. It is cooler, but still brutally humid. I think a storm is coming…

That'll give your Inspector time to learn all of those lines.

And now, I must shower and get dressed, then hie myself out into the environs of Tumwater then Tacoma. It will be a full day of theatrics!

Which for me means doing very little.

Day Six. And OMG, it is brutal out there.
I only had to run out to two stores for a couple of things, but just the walking in and back out to the car, twice, and bringing stuff in at home, was miserable.
We're supposed to get a couple of days relief starting tomorrow. Not a moment too soon.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe four hours of sleep - all due to that rancid muffin top, I suppose.

Captain Smith was a beloved member of my mother's family, by marriage. He was my great uncle. He died before my mother was born or she would have met him.
-
Right! Thank you.
-
We were just under severe weather warnings, which have now passed, thank goodness.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks to Singdaw and John G for the Maria Friedman clips.

I’m learning that prospective LA homebuyers must have patience. Late last Monday I saw a listing for a small one-bedroom in Santa Monica. Building was from 1928, lots of light, charming. I contacted my real estate agent early Tuesday morning, asking to view it. It had only been on the market for fiver days, but they had already closed submissions. It sold later that day — for $100k over list price! I didn’t even have a chance! All I can say is that some people must have a LOT of money.
-
It’s difficult to be optimistic.
-
I am, however, preparing for a move.
-
Vibes to all for a good week ahead.
Stay cool.😎

Home hunting vibes for Jeanne.

That is shocking, the offer of $100K over.
Well, shocking to me. Because what do I know?

I would find it REALLY hard to be optimistic.

Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Well I am home after spending a lovely evening out with WFO
-
This was our first evening out since we met Chas, BK and Elmore for dinner in September of 2022
-
We went out to dinner and then saw Chazz Palminteri in his one man show of A Bronx Tale ,
-
I never saw the movie, or the musical ( which we were supposed to see a couple of weeks ago but had to cancel because of illness, first mine, then WFO’s)
-
So I didn’t know what to expect
-
But it was riveting.
-
The audience loved it.
-
Afterwards he came back out and gave a little talk about how the movie came to be made.
-
He’s touring the show, and I urge you to see it if it comes to your neighborhood
-
I have not caught up so I’ll go do that now
-
I have never heard of a Bombay sandwich before. This sounds wonderful.
https://ministryofcurry.com/bombay-sandwich/
I never heard of a Bombay sandwich before and I think it sounds dreadful. But then I think ciltrano tastes of soap, I cannot abide raw tomatoes, not a big fan of raw onions, and potatoes on a sandwich just seems wrong to me .
But I expect that leaves more Bombay sandwiches for John G to enjoy

Tomorrow night I am going into NYC after work to see Tony Shalhoub and Shohreh Aghdashloo in What Became of Us
-
Apparently the roles were also played by BD Wong, and Rosalind Chao but they finished their run last week,
-
I know next to nothing about it, three friends were going and they invited me to be a fourth
-
I will provide a full repor of course
-
Oh speaking of repors
-
I questioned whether I ever ordered BKs latest book Directed By, because I simply couldn’t find any recorc of ordering it in my emails
-
Vixdad just handed it to me when I got home this evening
-
Turns out it was delivered when he was just recovering and I got very ill and he put the package in his side table and completely forgot about it
-
He just found it so I shall endeavor to read it as soon as possible
-
Probably not this week though
-
He’s touring the show, and I urge you to see it if it comes to your neighborhood
I'd love to.
-
This Thursday I’m also heading into the city right after work to see Debbie Harry and Chris Stein have a discussion about Chris recent autobiography which also was recently delivered and which I have not yet found time to read
-

In food news my dinner tonight was billed as a vegetarian portobello burger
-
By which I assumed it would be a veggie burger topped with a portobello mushroom
-
However I discovered burger was a gross misnomer
-
Watching Barbara Bel Geddes in Hitchcock's Lamb to the Slaughter. I love the Road Dahl story, and Bel Geddes is just perfect.
-
However I discovered burger was a gross misnomer
Uh oh
-
The meal was actually a portobello mushroom with roasted red pepper and basalmic reduction on a multigrain flatbread bun
-
There was no burger
-
I was advised by the waitress that “ the mushroom is the burger’
-
However misnamed, it was nonetheless delicious
-
WFO had the black and bleu burger
-
I don’t know what the black was but he had a real beef burger with bacon and bleu cheese and tomatoes and lettuce
-
Which he seemed to enjoy very much
-
Oh goodness it’s six
