Well, you've read the notes, the notes were festively festive, and now it is time for you to post until the festively festive cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRIUMPH!
-
Wow, 1st post after Bruce.
-
Nice photo DR Jrand.
-
After two days if incredible tours we are, so far, regretting the one we are on. If I think the isle on the bus is narrow imagine how everyone else must feel. The seats are also tight. Keith couldn't take it and moved to the row behind to have more room.
-
Sorry about that, DR Jane.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
.
-
Now ice cream and gingersnaps, I can support.
-
Possibly even at the same time.
-
And the word of the day is: TRIUMPH!
I keep waiting for floccinaucinihilipilification to be the word of the day.
-
Noun: the action or habit of estimating something as worthless.

Vibes the next tour bus is better than this.
Are the sights you're seeing today enjoyable despite the discomfort?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, but I forgot to set the alarm. I was cuddling with Annabelle and Thatrch, and I thought it seems awfully bright outside; let me check the clock. It was 6:45.
-
I checked the alarm to fiind I did not set it.
-
Around 10, my physical therapist will show up, so I have much to accomplish before then.
-
TOD
It would have to be one of the musicals I've worked on, but most likely Jubilee or Babes in Toyland.
-
For the TOD, assuming we know what we know today while we're temporarily traveling back to see the pre-1980s musical, it would be to see the original productions with the original stars of GYPSY or FIDDLER ON THE ROOF or FOLLIES.
-
Make. Biscuits. Now.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Once again, we have a lovely fresh early autumn day. Today only. It'll be warmer again starting tomorrow. Hey, I'll take it.
-
You longtime Apple people probably know this, but I've never dealt with iTunes or Apple Music, nor do I care to learn now, so:
What's the easiest way to convert these .m4a files, that someone very kindly uploaded, to something common like .mp3 or .wav?
-
Notes spied. July’d.
-
Now ice cream and gingersnaps, I can support.
Yum
-
Thanks Singdaw and Freddie
-
Though we are not thrilled with this tour, the final destination was beautiful.
-
Happy 1st of July!
-
Once in the town of Betanzos we quickly left the tour guide and went off on our own.
-
Keith took some wonderful photos.
-
TEO!
-
National Gingersnap Day, eh?
If we can have a song and dance called "The Tapioca", how come no one ever wrote a song called "The Gingersnap" that some snappy choreographer could take a bite out of?
-
Happy 1st of July!
I need to wish our grandcat, Kitty, a happy 20th birthday.

Rescued from a life on the streets of Romania, twenty years is darn good.

I watched a Clint Eastwood-directed film yesterday starring Matt Damon.
It's called "Hereafter" and tells three tales of people who, ultimately, meet in London and find a kind of closure to traumas they have endured.
Damon's is the key trauma, as it were. He has a genuine ability to communicate with the dead, but he would rather have a normal life. His readings bring solace and peace to those he helps, but he finds them sad and troubling.
Rather than go into spoilers about the other two tales, I'll simply say it's worth your time if it interests you. It doesn't razzle-dazzle beyond some spectacular tsunami footage at the start of the film, and it makes nothing after that so earth-shatteringly traumatic that you sit on the edge of your seats.
It's thoughtful, beautifully acted by the three main characters, and ultimately rewarding in a low-key way.
Critics felt the story line was a bit sluggish (I guess that's the word) but were highly positive about the acting. And that's the thing in this movie. It is on Amazon Prime.
I recommend it for your more "pensive" moments.

Another movie on Amazon Prime (IIRC) is the Gwyneth Paltrow "Emma" with Jeremy Northam, Ewan McGregor, Toni Colette and Polly Walker.
Having seen several "Emma" adaptations over the years since the movie with Paltrow came out, I have very much enjoyed the various versions and actors involved in them.
My favorite has been the Romola Garai-Jonny Lee Miller version. Re-seeing Paltrow's last night did not challenge my favorite one bit.
My least favorite Emma, the character, was portrayed b Anya Taylor-Joy the 2020 theatrical version) who portrayed Emma in a way I did not find attractive at all. I would not have admired her in any way. While she has a certain pleasant look to her, she has no personal effervescence to recommend her. That film is saved by Johnny Flynn as George Knightly, Callum Turner as Frank Churchill, and Bill Nighy as Mr. Woodhouse, Emma's father.
The 1996 film with Paltrow is very good, but glosses over much of the story that the TV versions tell in detail. It was the first time I had seen Paltrow in a film, and I thought she did it well, but the film rather pales in comparison to the more detailed presentations I have seen. Still, it's fun to have so many versions available to watch and compare. Northam as Knightly and Walker as Jane Fairfax are both delightful.

I always wanted to play Arthur in "Camelot". For a long time, it was my favorite cast album (mid-60s),

I also like the Johnny Flynn as George.

I thought the Paltrow version was okay but too coy. My favorite Austen adaptations are the two BBC's with Romola Garai and Kate Beckinsale. I liked the 2020 version's handling of the servants always being close to hjand and Ithought the best performance was Miranda Hart's Miss Bates.

I like having so many versions of Emma to watch.I like parts of each, but my favorite is the Romola Garai. I laughed most at the Anya Taylor Joy.

This is sickening. It's a new Day of Infamy.
The road to here was begun to be laid in November 2016 and was built brick by brick throughout the next four years. I had been thinking in recent months that this decision, basically, was always the ultimate destiny of this court.
Of course it really goes back to when McConnell refused to allow that vacant seat to be filled in Obama's last year.

The mystery woman at the reading gave me the name of an NYC theatre producer she knows and said his father is also a producer.
The name didn't stay in my head.....but if any savvy NYC HHW'ers know of father-son theatre producers you might mention their names and one will ring a bell.
I emailed her this morning and told her I was distracted for a couple weeks with a play - but that I would send her a digital copy of the play.....which I did.
-
She now lives in Indy and runs a home renovation business wherein she and her staff come in and make your home a reflection of YOU.....
So since Google was invented for just such a purpose - I looked her up.
-
She is Lauren Ramsby - former managing editor of The New York Post and before that Deputy Editor of The New York Observer......and she has also been profiled in Vogue Magazine.
And I was talking to her like talking to a neighbor over the back fence.
You never know who you'll meet in Indy. We shall see what develops, if anything.

Just this past weekend I read Joe Klein’s review of Maggie Haberman’s book about you-know-who. Here’s his concluding paragraph:
“We can hope that Trump is an aberration, not an avatar, but that would probably be delusional. He has created a brutish new standard for American politics, and put a terrible dent in our democracy. Maggie Haberman has been there for it all. The story she tells is unbearably painful because Trump’s success is a reflection of our national failure to take ourselves seriously. We will be very lucky, indeed, if he doesn’t prove our downfall.”
‘bout sums it up.

A large group of Canadians had fun celebrating this afternoon. It was rather festive and they decorated their cabin doors :)

I don't feel much like celebrating on the 4th.

I have progressed in the garage to the point of needing help from the maintenance crew to move some shelving. Richard and I tried to do it ourselves, but it requires more “muscle” than we have put together.

That's way too vague. Why didn't you ask her to write it down or email it?

Now that the Supreme Court has made its ruling, I think Biden should have Trump assassinated.

Yeah, happy Canada Day. I may need to move there soon.
At least you wouldn't have to move far ;)

singdaw, have you watched the first episode of the new vicar on GRANTCHESTER?
The new star seems promising. (And they certainly didn't waste any time getting his torso on view for a very long scene!)

Maggie Haberman plays both sides of the fence, and I find her quite obnoxious and dour as an "expert."
-
I basically said what elmore said, but responding to someone's Facebook post: Biden, now that the Supreme Court has opened this can of worms, should begin making executive decisions as official acts, with no discussion with anyone - first of all, stack the court and overturn what they just did. Second, remove Trump from the ballot for being a convicted felon - executive decision, no discussion. Let's see how the other side reacts to having a King.

Now that he's immune, Trump has made a move to get his 34 convictions overturned. Here's the quandary: he wasn't president when he committed those crimes, so is he really immune?

Good night, John.

So, I'm at a local hospital's parking lot, after having driven my sister and her former mother-in-law here to see how her daughter (my sister's former sister-in-law and my niece's aunt) is doing after having called the medics due to a medical emergency that she (the aunt) had.
-
Evidently, she had had an "episode" a few weeks ago, but didn't go to the hospital then.
-
She was having some problems last night and this morning, and at least had made an appointment with her doctor.
-
But it must've gotten worse, so the medics were called.
-
I don't know the details...I can only hope that things will be okay.
-
My niece's father died when he was only 52. My niece's aunt (his sister) is only in her early 60s.
-
~~~VIBES FOR MY NIECE'S AUNT!!~~~
Got the eye on the prize.
It occurs to me that I have yet to win a Pulitzer Prize.
-
But I did see the movie, The Prize.
-
I saw it at a sneak preview - the Paramount in Hollywood. And several times thereafter when it opened at the Stanley Warner Beverly Hills.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now, they can be read far and wide as well as wide and far.
-
Listening to a very interesting recording - my song, Superman Is Dead, sung by Leslie Jon. He recorded it twice and I think I put it on a CD that you dears got - the second version. I have several copies of the 45, which is the first version. It's arranged and conducted by Jimmie Haskell - I was a big fan of his but his take on the song is so overblown and weird that it subverts it - still, very interesting.
