Well, you've read the notes, the notes had instincts, and now it is time for you to post until the instinctual cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NOETIC!

Good morning, friends.
-
CONGRATULATIONS to DR John G. on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!!
-
.
-
Extra points if you consumer raspberry freezer pops.
-
Fitful sleep - only managed to sleep a few hours at a time, interrupted by long bouts of wakefulness in between.
-
Blech.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did not sleep well, b ut I had to get up early to get the apartment in some order before the physical therapist shows up.

In the late 1980s, thanks to a Drama Book Shop employee whose brother-in-law was a dancer for the Joffrey Ballet, I saw a performance of the John Cranko ballet The Taming of the Shrew, which was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. Since then, I never heard of any revival of the ballet until two months ago, when I found on Amazon.co.uk a recent DVD release of the ballet from the Stuttgart Ballet, for whom Cranko originally staged it with dancers Richard Cragun and Marcia Haydee as Petruchiop and Katherine. Cranko, a British choreographer who worked in musical theatre, had choreographed Britten's ballet The Prince of the Pagodas for the Royal Ballet, was director of the Stuttgart Ballet at the time of his early death, and the new production was part of a Stuttgart festival.
So, was the ballet as funny as I remembered? It was. I do not know why major ballet companies are not performing this ballet regularly. The score was less dissonant than I remembered; the composer does to Scarlatti what Stravinsky did to Pergolesi in Pulcinella, only Stravinsky did it better. To its benefit, it has a great deal of humor, and at times it reminded me of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances.
-
In summer, 1973, I worked the box office for the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Two of the guest stars were Stuttgart Ballet soloists Richard Cragun, an American dancer, and Marcia Haydee, who was - if I recall correctly - Belgian. At the time, they were a romantic couple, and, of all the dancers that summer, they were my favorites. They were charming, always friendly, and seemed to possess less ego than many of the stars that summer. I remember sitting with them at a lobster dinner, where Richard was helping new-to-lobster diners Marcia and me, devour the crustacean.

Sounds great, DR elmore3003.

Well they are starting to dig up my sidewalk and driveway curb.....I had to move the cars out onto the street.....I am in for 10 or 12 days of hell.....starting the week the show opens.
-
I had never checked YouTube for the Cranko ballets, and I just discovered Stuttgart Ballet videos of "Romeo and Juliet," "Onegin" and "The Taming of the Shrew" from 1969. The two Shakespeare ballets feature the wonderful Richard Cragun and Marcia Haydee. Here's the Shrew:

Good morning, all.
-
Thank you for the link, DR Elmore. I've got that open to watch later.
-
My physical therapist just called. We're off till Friday.
-
Two more days of ~90 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, only a brief respite before it starts up again next weekend. And just for comic relief, we'll get some rain deluge from the hurricane in between.
-
Congrats DR John.
-
DR George, IMHO, the only good tasting veggie dogs changed their recipe and now none exist.
-
In other news, it's Monday. I did get a fairly decent night of sleep. Woke up too early again, but that seems to be a fact of life these days. And I know I had a couple of somewhat interesting dreams, but not one iota of them has come back to me. Same thing the night before.
-
We should be enjoying the island of Guernsey today, however the darn wind prevented the tenders from transporting us.
-
Sigh.
-
I have been wanting to go there since reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Good morning, all.
-
I couldn’t remember last night if I had taken my muscle relaxer and I probably didn’t. But I slept for a stretch, then another stretch for about seven hours. And the pain wasn’t too bad.
-
Today I will watch Notorious, up to now my favorite Hitchcock and the last in this long cycle.
-

Well all the guys are standing around looking into the hole they dug.
-
DR ELMORE thanks for the link.
-
Well I spoke to Miss Lauren this morning and will be sending her a revised copy of the play.
Her producer friend is William Berlind who seems to be a pretty big deal as is his father Roger Berlind......so we shall see what we shall see.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I suppose. Maybe four and a half hours of sleep, maybe five.

Too much ABS (Active Brain Syndrome).

Vibes for JRand.
-
William Berlind has an extraordinary track record as a producer already.

-
Tackle. Got it.
Kit Harrington is doing Slave Play in London, which has an extensive nude scene for him. The production wants no photos released and released this statement:
The sex scene Kit’s in is quite shocking. There are lots of mirrors on stage so the audience can see his tackle from all angles. The scene lasts more than ten minutes and bosses seem very concerned about it being recorded and leaked online — hence the stickers. … Management really want to protect his modesty so they’ve threatened legal action if anyone is caught filming.

Where was his modesty when he accepted the part?
-
Indeed DR FREDDIE and his late father Roger won more Tony Awards than anyone else EVER - 25.
-
Well I have picked up my computer and I may do a bit of work on it.....but tonight is the night of Production Photos - so I can't spend a lot of time on it.
-
"Don't be silky. The important drinking hasn't even started yet."
Ingrid Bergman in Notorious
-
This movie smolders. Grant and Bergman are combustible.
-
Well all the guys are standing around looking into the hole they dug.
Maybe they've found something.
-
Could be DR RON PULLIAM.
-
Who am I, who just got down from a tractor to try to improve a play I have written BEFORE it is read by a Tony winning producer and he tells me what he thinks?
I guess my middle name is Hubris.
I will send a transfer link to Lauren tomorrow and ask her to forward it to Mr. Berlind.
-
Well the great Hitchcock project has come to an end in a highly satisfying manner.
-
Notorious remains my favorite.i can't imagine a better last 10 minutes or so of any of his movies.
-
Als in my top five,in no particular order:
Rebecca
Strangers on a Train
Vertigo
North by Northwest
-
Probably in my top 10:
Marnie
Shadow of a Doubt
Psycho
Rear Window
The 39 Steps
-
The worst? Almost all from his early era.
Juno and the Paycock
Easy Virtue
The Manxman
Jamaica Inn
The Farmer's Wife
The Skin Game
Waltzes from Vienna
-
Who am I, who just got down from a tractor to try to improve a play I have written BEFORE it is read by a Tony winning producer and he tells me what he thinks?
Well, she was clearly impressed with you as a writer and the play as it was presented to offer to send it - to even have given you her card after the reading.
-
And that still leaves plenty of wonderful movies, including The Man Who Knew Too Much, Dial M for Murder, To Catch a Thief, Frenzy (which had previously been in my top 5), I Confess and The Wrong Man.
-
Starting The Boys in the Boat. Joel Edgerton is far different here from his role in The Underground Railroad.
-
Beryl is still headed elsewhere. I will have to water tonight.
-

It looks like we will have rain every day for the rest of our trip.
-
I wish I had brought a proper rain coat, and didn't get cold so easily.
-
Most of all, I prefer not to sightsee in the rain.
-
Tomorrow we are going to Rouen, France and a 90 minute walking tour, plus time on our own to walk around.
-
'night
-
I shall be leaving in a moment for rehearsal....in which production photos will be taken AND the bows will be blocked.....
-
DR FREDDIE that was kind of my thought, too.
-
I live on a corner and because of the destruction....I mean....construction....I have parked both cars on the north side of the house.....and hope neither of them gets hit before they get to come back home to the driveway.

Yes. And she will be the only one taking a bow.
-
DR Jrand73, I hope everything good happens to the mellerdramma of Ms Farmer's trials and tribulations.

Had a long nap. Back to Boys on the Boat.

Starting The Nun’s Story, which BK recommended recently. Interesting to see Peter Finch and Beatrice Straight in a movie together before Network.

Since we're sharing recipes, how about one for chicken soup aspic?

Maybe not...

Since we're sharing recipes, how about one for chicken soup aspic?
Sounds better than that casserole made of chicken, bananas, chili sauce, bacon and peanuts.
-
Even when they’re cutting off Audrey Hepburn’s hair, the camera still finds her stunning.

I think my old Kindle just died.

Waltzes was the only Hitchcock musical. Oy and vey.
-
The final shot of The Nun's Story is brilliant, and Zinnemann doesn't care how long it takes. But when she enters the sun, it's very moving.
-
Will the leading lady get a fanfare of some sort before her bow?
No, there won’t be trumpets.
-
Moving on to some of John Huston's war documentaries.
-
Will the leading lady get a fanfare of some sort before her bow?
No, there won’t be trumpets.
Ha!
-
Good night, all.

Again with the page five?
-
Have Jane and Keith decided that this is the year in which they'll be gone somewhere and home less? Sure seems like it.
-
And where's George?
-
Where's EVERYONE?
-
Was watching The Bird with the Crystal Plumage but fell asleep for an hour.
-
Okay, now I'm hopping mad.
-
I'm mad and I'm hopping.
-
Where the HELL is George?
-
Probably asleep or out stuffing his face with guacamole.
-
This is completely unacceptable.
-
And yet, one must accept it. because here we are.
-
He's got some 'splainin' to do.
-
And yet, he probably won't 'splain.
-
Absolutely and utterly ridic.
-
Ridic, do you hear me?
-
It makes my blood boil and boiling blood isn't good.
-
It just isn't.
-
And he WILL be held responsible.
-
Guess I'll take a shower now and perhaps he'll show up.
-
At one minute to midnight.
-
Ridic.
-
Page six is ridic.
-
Boiled blood.
-
Trying to lower it to a simmer.
-
Greetings, dear peeps.
-
My instincts have been good with vinyl LPs. I have roughly 8,000 so maybe just by sheer numbers, I have some of value.
-
I was never in it for money. I just never stopped buying records when everyone else did. Mainly because I could find great music for so cheap. But I suffered the slings and arrows of people making fun of me for having records.
-
Oh, my!
https://www.tastingtable.com/1611480/oreo-poke-brownies-recipe/
"Oh, my!" is right!! :D
-
A funny thing happened along the way. They never really died out, and then they had this bizarre renaissance where young people happily pay ridiculous amounts for records and my once laughable niche hobby has become something I can sell from now and again. I still like to hunt the thrifts for treasures of vinyl, but it has become more difficult, as there are many others in the game, mercenaries like BK’s dealer friend.
-
Look at the upper right of the display. :o

I think my old Kindle just died.
Oh, no! I hate it when that happens...and it's happened several times. :-\
-
Will the leading lady get a fanfare of some sort before her bow?
No, there won’t be trumpets.
:))
-
And where's George?
I've arrived...finally. ::)
;)
-
And yet, he probably won't 'splain.
I usually 'splain.
-
Tonight, I did a little shopping for my sister, then I had to go to a friend's house to collect the cash and a couple of donations that TAO collected from the June performances of Tick, Tick...BOOM! (https://www.olytheater.com/)
-
I was a bit hungry, so I drove through the local Burger King (aka BK), and got one of their classic chicken wraps and a 4-piece order of mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce.
-
It wasn't great, but it's what I wanted, so I'm satisfied. :)
-
I then came home and was ketchuping on Twitter (currently known as X).
-
There's a lot of doom-and-gloom prognosticating out there, but I don't think it's all hyperbole.
-
I hope it is, but it's a different world and who knows what can happen in the next few months. :-\
-
Well, this is interesting...so, I have a DVD burner that can burn onto both DVD-R discs and DVD+R discs.
-
Both kinds of discs are supposed to hold the normal 4.7 GB capacity.
-
Well, look who finally showed up.
-
Nice to see Rodzinski, too.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
When I burn onto the DVD-R discs, and you go to the burned disc and look at the files (VOB files), the files add up to no more than 4.7 GB total because that's the capacity of the DVD disc.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Can't remember if I ever mentioned that I do not care for page seven.
-
HOWEVER, when I look at the files on DVD+R discs, the files can add up to anywhere from 12-16 GB...on 4.7 GB disc!! :o
-
How can that be??
-
I mean, look at this:
-
VERY strange!
-
It's like it's from the Twilight Zone! :o
-
Anyway, DVD+R discs are supposed to make for better DVDs in general, so I'm not complaining about the situation.
-
It's just something that I can't wrap my little brain around.
