Well, you've read the notes, the notes were prime and on time almost, and now it is time for you to post until the prime time cows come home.

And the word of the day is: DELIGHT!

Today, I'm going to see the last performance of Tick, Tick...BOOM! at TAO's OlyTheater (https://www.olytheater.com/). It pretty much was sold out this entire last weekend, so I was glad when a few days ago my friend pug asked (in a TAO board text) if anyone wanted her tickets for today. She couldn't go today, so they got tickets for Friday. I took them and I'll get to see the show. :)
-
It's also the highest selling show that Broadway Olympia Productions/Theater Artists Olympia have put on!

Nice.

It is 70 degrees and, finally, the sky is blue. We had a lovely boat ride on the canal.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
All caught up and nowhere to go.
-
I just washed my hair, and can't do a thing with it.
-
Was that a saying, once upon a time?

I thought of DR elmore3003:

Once I finally fell asleep, I slept pretty well. Maybe I should try melatonin.

Yesterday BK wrote:
I hear everything's up to date in Kansas City and that they've gone about as fer as they can go.
To which I reply: I know my family.

I don’t know how to quote from a previous day.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The cats let me sleep in, which is rare. Annabelle rose and ambled off to the window where she watched the crowds come and go fropm Holy Trinity Catholic Church across West 82nd Street, Stella slept on the floor, and Thatch settled next to me.
-
So, I got about 9.5 hours of sleep last night, and that was really nice.
-
Yesterday I had a Stella scare. Part of my existence - actually a major part - is watching out for leaping and darting cats while I'm trying to move about the apartment on a cane. As I was heading to the kitchen spouting my litany of "get out of the way, babies," Stella darted past me and was gobsmacked by the end of my cane. I spent the next couple of hours hoping I hadn't hit her hard enough to break a tooth, so after we all lay down to watch television and Midsomer Murders, as she lay beside me, I tried to pry open her mouth to check her teeth. We wrestled for maybe five minutes while I kept opening her mouth, sdhe continued to bite me, and when she had enough, she hissed, opened her claws on both front paws, and attacked me. As soon as I dropped her, she gave me this stunned look, and ran off. I did manage then to see her teeth were okay.
-
She's forgiven me; this morning, she's her affectionate self, and I am very happy about that.
-
DR John G, I'm happy the birthday festivities are going nicely.
-
That photo of Caliban is wonderful. The costume and makeup are amazing.

Glad Stella is OK.

Make of it what you will.

Relieved cheers for Stella!

When I arrived at Penn last night just before midnight I discovered there was no 12:29 to home
-
I had to wait, along with a couple of hundred fellow commuters for the 129
-
Today we start (like we never stopped?) another "official" heat wave, with 90 or thereabouts this afternoon and a few degrees INTO the 90s over the next couple of days.
-
Got home at 243
-

-
Happy Bastille Day!
-
I put "official" in quotes because - this summer, for me - it's like one continuous heat wave, even if we're not at 90 or above. The air has been thick, damp, and horrible throughout the past few weeks, so even when we're "down" in the 80s, it still has that feeling and the a/c never gets a break. But yes, beginning today again, we'll be back in the hell of the 90s.

Today is a ME day. A hot ME day.....the day that is - not ME.
-
I am enjoying my new computer configuration. I have re-organized my desktop. I am closer to the birdcage which I enjoy.....Nick & Nora are oblivious.
-
I am still setting up my new "old" computer. For some reason, when i came to HHW this morning and read the notes then clicked to go to the Daily Discussion - I was sent to the INDEX.....I finally got here, and bookmarked the DD discussion page in case HP has decided to have a mind of its own.
-
The pictures and reporting from some parties of yesterday's event are so off-putting.
The fool is no HERO.....and Joe Biden had NOTHING to do with it.
Why don't they start at the beginning and find out how the shooter got a gun? But that would point fingers right back at them!
-
I like The Lion.....and I certainly like Capucine much more than I did back in the day.
I especially like her performances in The Pink Panther (she is an excellent physical comedienne) and North To Alaska.

Happy Sunday to everyone! There's a fun new Broadway Radio Show episode up on the site for your listening enjoyment. Joshua Rosenblum joins me to chat about his new book "Closer Than Ever: The Unique Six-Decade Songwriting Partnership of Maltby & Shire" -- Joshua worked with these wonderful songwriters; so, he had great access to them and their materials as he put together this terrific chronicle and examination of their works including, of course, Baby, Big and their revues Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer Than Ever. Plus their work separately...Shire's film & TV scores and Maltby's theatre directing gigs. It's a great read and well worth checking out. The interview was a treat too...give it a listen!

"The Lion" was one of only a few new films distributed by 20th Century-Fox in 1962. That studio virtually shut down at one point while the production of "Cleopatra" was draining studio coffers, and nothing was left over except for TV production. That's how I remember it, at any rate.
"The Lion" is classified as a British film, although it had some financing from Fox. It had its world premiere in the UK
26 July 1962 (London), 19 August 1962 (United Kingdom), and December 21, 1962 (New York City), That's according to Wikipedia.
Of all Malcolm Arnold's film scores that I've heard, "The Lion" is my favorite. The film has had showings on the Fox Movie Channel over the years, and it looked pretty good when I saw it...but my cable service took that channel away three years ago and added it to a sports package that I refuse to consider.

Some random thoughts:
1. There is an outside possibility that the event yesterday was meant to be "staged" rather than the tragedy it became.
2. The photo making the rounds is so very much "staged", IMO.
3. The young man was registered Republican. So there is that element, and it's not a suprising one to me.
4. The outrage is a bit much considering none of it was ever expressed when Gabby Giffors was shot or when Gretchen Whitmer was being stalked and targeted for assassination or when Nancy Pelosi's husband was brutally beaten in his home.
5. I am so very tired of it all.
-
It would not surprise me if the whole thing, from the Fat Orange Baboon to the assassi, wasn't planned by the RNC, only the assassin was assured nothing would happen to him. I put nothing past this GOP scum.

Many of us have done/seen the play over the years....I played Dr. Dussell the annoying dentist (typecasting) - but it is always an emotional experience.
I saw the movie when it was released (Margot is pronounced with a definite "t" at the end).....and as a ten year old it was a revelation.
I bought the book from the Weekly Reader (anyone else remember that) and still have my dog eared falling apart copy.....it's old just like I am.

Prime Time Musicals is one of the first BK cds that I purchased long before HHW.
I am thinking that the first was the Titanic CD with lots of great music....and then I started looking at the stores for the familiar Verese Sarabande purple edge.....and would buy anything I saw...especially if BK's name was on it.....I also bought the Godzilla and Superman cds.....
And then online I bought the Ronald Stein cd.....and then former DR JMK told me about this here site and I came here in 2004, I think....and even won a couple of sparkling prizes in the weekly trivia contests.....
So this is my 20th anniversary at HHW this year.

Happy 20th - you are a major asset to this here site.

My mother is in town. That’s my excuse.

We went to a movie today. My mom was so shocked about the amount of previews and pre-movie stuff. That’s when i realized this was her first movie in over 15 years.

It was called Despicable Me 4. Pretty lazily thrown together, plot wise. I fell asleep a couple times, which not even my 86 year old mom did.

And then online I bought the Ronald Stein cd.....and then former DR JMK told me about this here site and I came here in 2004, I think....and even won a couple of sparkling prizes in the weekly trivia contests.....
So this is my 20th anniversary at HHW this year.
I love the Prime Time Musicals CD!
