Well, you've read the notes, the notes were BOGO and GOAT, and now it is time for you to post until the BOGO and GOAT cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ASPIRE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Decent sleep, if a bit short in the hours department.
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
Good morning, all!
-
No cat disasters last night, and I slept very well for about seven hours. Around 3:45 I woke to find all three cats curled up around me. I spent the last two hours trying to get back to sleep.
-
It's supposed to get up top 97 F today, and I must go to the un-air-conditioned basement and do the laundry. Oh, joy!
-
BOGO? GOAT? There's currently an "AU" showing up, and while I know it does nopt mean Australian, I have no idea what the fat hell it means!
-
I recently saw a post of Facebook from a New York friend, who considers himself a professional writer, that included a sentence something like this "it was an issue between him and I." Is no one learning grammar these days? I will admit I don't always use the correct word, like "sit" when I mean "set" or "lay" when I mean "lie," but I don't cope well with such errors when it comes to print. It takes me right out of the book and makes me wonder why the author didn't know better.
This doesn't happen in print; I hear errors like this in commercials, scripts, newscasts, and it drives me mad. I wonder how the author passed English.
Thoughts, DRs?

Late last night, George asked "I don't know if I've asked this here before, but what do Anne Frank, Martin Luther King Jr., and Barbara Walters have in common?"
I had no idea and finally had to google to find out, but it was very interesting and offered some perspective on life. Thanks for bringing up the question, George.

Good morning to everyone. Have a great week
-
Good morning I have not caught up
-
I must hurry to the car place to leave the van
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept, and it was good.
-
I’m not a fan of the widespread use of AF, which does not stand for Anne Frank. There’s a restaurant group in Louisville that uses it in all their names, like Dinner AF.
WTF?(By which I mean waltz, tango, foxtrot, of course.)
-
In dance competitions, you always dance certain dances in an order:
WTF and CRS (cha-cha, rumba, swing)
-
How about GAY for Gathering All Yarn? Or Golfing All Year? Groaning About Yardwork?
-
I really dislike the trend by youngsters to refer to any Broadway show only by the initials of its title (ie, MWRA for Merrily We Roll Along).

Amen. SITPWG being another example.

Notes BOGO’d. POGO’d.

The initialization of culture is dragging us backwards, of course.
-
Good morning, all.

In the spirit of National Tapioca Day:
Everybody tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tapioca,
Everybody, slap, slap, slap, slap, slap, slap, slapioca.
If ya got the dap, dap, dap-dap-dappier flappers flap-flap-flappier
Everyone is happier when the do the tap tapioca.
When they do the flap flapioca.
Tap, tap, tap, tapioca,
Slap, slap, slap, slapioca,
Tap, tap, tap, tap the tapioca.
-
I do hate the initialization of everything, and it can take me a while to get used to a new (to me) acronym. A couple of years ago I actually had to google GOAT two or three different times, because it seemed so far removed from anything and the meaning just wouldn't stick. Now, of course, you can't get away from that one. And when an acronym actually spells a common word that has nothing to do with the meaning, it's just a total distraction to me.

I generally hate using initials for musicals or movies or whatever. I far prefer using a short form of the title, just as one does in conversation. Merrily, Fiddler, Forum... it's 100% clear what those are, and they respect the actual title, which initials do not. Coming across SITPWG, MWRA, etc., even in context, tends to stop me in my tracks as I have to remind myself what in the HELL they stand for. Even the effort it takes (for me) just to type those is laborious and unintuitive.
-
And now I shall go outside and mow the lawn.

MTL as the kids say.

MTL as the kids say.
LOL! (Is that acronym OK?)
-
Recalling that for a while, there were people who though LOL meant Lots of Love, and reportedly would send messages like "Sorry you lost your job. LOL!"
-
That could be an urban legend, though.
-
Two hours and fifteen minutes latewr, the laundry is finished and I am back in the AC comfort of my apartment. So, what does AU mean?
-
Aileen Cannon, the Major MAGA judge who should be disbarred, has tossed the Mar-a-lago case. May her pains be extreme and her death sooner than I would like.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
If she tossed the case, the Jack Smith can immediately appeal and if the appeal is successful have her removed. I think that's what I heard.

Mmm...I love tapioca pudding!

Very nice...except for the trying to get back to sleep.

So, what's your answer, Freddie? There's a specific answer, at least, one that I'm thinking of. :)

I have used the initials for shows, but in my defense (if it's defensible ;) ), I usually will only use them if the full title, or a major word, has already been referenced. I usually won't use the initials as the first reference of the title...usually.

I was watching the Rethuglican convention, but after a while, just listening to these MAGA asses worked my last nerve, and I turned it off. It was the fat blustering moron yelling into the microphone thatd me off.
-
I did learn the VP nominee may be J.D. Vance. That should make the white trash faction of the MAGA morons very happy.
A supporter was hoping Rubio would help Trump drag America back to Berlin 1930.
-
DR Jrand congrats on 20 years. I am very happy you joined us.
-
LOL Bruce.
-
This morning we reconnected with our traveling companions at our hotel in the Amsterdam Airport.
-
We then took a 20 minute, or less train ride to a little town where their friends live.
-
We walked from the train station to their house, stopping first for a delicious lunch.
-
Their friends, a delightful young couple, were charming and entertaining.
-
We had a wonderful day.
-
After we got off the train we scouted out where we need to go in the morning to get our flight home.
-
We are shocked how far we have to trek with our luggage but at least we know where to go.
-
Once back we met up for dinner. Again we had a delicious meal.
-
DR John your family photos with the birthday queen are wonderful 💜
-
After 15 years I can imagine how shocking the pre-movie stuff was to her ;D

JD Vance will be the VP nominee. Just announced.

Thanks George.

So . . . Facebook just marked a Project 2025 post I had made with a "this post contains inaccurate information" banner. It does nothing to the Trump or Marjorie Taylor Greene lie-filled posts.
-
Good evening.
-
There were storm cells all around Phoenix last night. A huge storm cell closed the airport. Planes were circling, and several were diverted to Las Vegas. Wind and lightning. All the cells went around us. Not a drop of rain.
-
Very disappointing.
-
But it was only 84 degrees when I left for my walk at 5 a.m. That was nice.
-
We had to change the lunch venue for our meeting - Barone's isn't open on Mondays - so, we ended up at the Smoke House. I had the pulled pork sandwich - so much pulled pork I couldn't even finish it, not to mention not being able to even pick it up. It came with fries, but I only had about four. I'm still stuffed to the damn gills.
-
Meeting was productive.
-
STTG - a fine way to eat.
-
My favorite of course is from the military....SNAFU.
-
Then I stopped at the mail place and picked up an Amazon package, something I'd used a gift card someone had given me a few months ago for - a box set of the complete Epic and Columbia albums conducted by Louis Lane with the Cleveland Orchestra. I loved these recordings when I was a kid, so what a treat to have them all. I'm transferring them now.
-
Fourteen CDs.
-
Then I got a good news e-mail about one of the projects I've been awaiting word on - I can't talk about it for a while, but it allows me to keep a promise I made to someone back in the mid-1990s and I love that. It took some doing plus there was a caveat I had to deal with, but it's all worked out.

Great news, BK!
-
Someone on some other site used the acronym FFS, which I'd never seen before.
Turns out it means For F---'s Sake (similar in meaning to For Pete's Sake)
-
I’m listening to Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books. It’s really promising. An old Georgia biddy (is there any other kind?) wants to ban most of the books in town. Someone has taken the books in her little library and swapped out the books but left the dust jackets in place. So someone who picks up “Our Confederate Heroes” actually gets “Beloved.” It’s subversive, occasionally fun and wholly accurate.
-
My favorite of course is from the military....SNAFU.
I also like STFU.

Good news from MR BK.....it's never too late..... NTL as the case may be.

We are driving to Valparaiso University next week for a music conference. My DH's intended conference colleague backed out, so I'm tagging along.
-
I'll wave to you, DR Jrand73!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Finally listening to the first CD in the Louis Lane set - and it's such nostalgia - this is how I got to know so many American works - probably the first time I ever heard the Candide overture was on this POP Concert U.S.A. The early stereo is great. I think they confined Lane to the Epic label because he was more of a pops conductor, but a superb one, and his music choices are perfect. Like Ormandy, but not as legendary, obviously, he made so much music accessible to the masses, especially young folks.
-
This first album was from 1958.
-
Sad news that Doug Fake from Intrada records passed away yesterday. End of an era, really.
-
I've never really cottoned to Piston's The Incredible Flutist in all the versions I have and have heard, which is odd because I remember enjoying it at some point - now I know that's correct - it was Lane's version I loved. No other version comes anywhere near it.
-
Our college orchestra recorded Flutist for Turnabout and I play 3rd trumpet on it. Checking out the Louis Lane version now!
-
In the tech world we like our TLAs (three-letter acronyms). But now that I'm retired I'm finding it hard to remember them...
