Well, you've read the notes, the notes postured, and now it is time for you to post until the posturing cows come home.

And the word of the day is: IMMANENT!

Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 6:30. When I went to the kitchen 15 minutes later to feed the cats, I found the toilet had stopped running sometime in the middle of the night. I flushed it, and it worked . . . very slowly and noisily snce the water pressure in the building is screwed up. To make matters worse, the city crew is showing up soon to fioniosh the mess they began yesterday, so we will have no water for most of the day.
-
I need to call the maintenance service and let them know the toilet is working and to email the building management and let thewm know as well.
-
I have no plans for today; my entire focus is on the water situation.

Good morning from a IHOP in Greenbelt MD

I have avoided it ever since.

Good morning, all.

I don't remember if I did, but I'm fairly certain I never saw A NEW LEAF. Maybe sometime the right mood will strike me.

There's a musical version of the source material that became A NEW LEAF, called THE GREEN HEART, Book by Charles Busch, Music and Lyrics by Rusty Magee
https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/1358/the-green-heart
"This musical comedy, with lyrics and music by Rusty Magee, is based on Jack Ritchie's short story “The Green Heart,” which was also the inspiration for the film A New Leaf."

I loved the Nichols and May records, and many other great comedy records, which is how I got to know many of the people who also made it big on screen. But something happened when certain movies came out - LUV, A NEW LEAF, and others - but not all - in the late-60s, mid-70s, with some of my favorite people in them, just didn't call to me. Or I saw a couple of them and wasn't impressed. And yet others in the same period did, and still stand out as favorites. There's no real logic to it.
In fact, I never saw the LUV movie for decades - until the DVD had been out for a while and I finally bought it. Oy. I think I might have enjoyed one or two moments in it, but they're forgotten now. And yet I'd loved the play, from listening to the complete recording on Columbia and "seeing" it all in my head, to seeing it on tour with Dorothy Loudon, etc. But when some of these movies came out, "something" (cue spooky music) told me to not bother. And it was probably right in most cases.
-
This morning I ate my first solid food since Monday night: two lightly fried (they came out more like poached, which was wonderful) eggs. Just a tiny bit of butter in the pan, and salt & pepper. (I'm mostly avoiding dairy while I'm on Cipro, or they would have been swimming in butter.) They were absolutely delicious, and while I like the clear juices and all, I was ready to scream if I had to pour another glass. Three days of that was enough.
I also had had only one cup of coffee on Wednesday morning, which tasted like crap to me then, and I didn't bother with any yesterday. This morning after eating the eggs, I made a cup and it was delicious. So a little caffeine don't hurt none, either, after a few days. In fact, a moment ago I was almost feeling jittery because I wasn't used to having it in my system.
But it was a GOOD jitter. :)
-
More health vibes for Chas!

Only "good" jitter vibes for DR ChasSmith from now on!!

I slept the sleep of the dead...either the nearly dead or mostly dead variety..,last night/this morning. There was one hour of not-so-dead, though. I awakened at 2:45 a.m. for a bathroom pit stop, and it was about an hour before I fell back to sleep. But, oh! What a sleep it became.
And so, I was out of bed at 10:24 a.m.
I do not know the reason. I cannot explain why!
Don't ask.

I do know that it rained mostly throughout the night. It was raining when I got up at 2:45 a.m. It is very overcast this morning and showers are expected this afternoon, but I am hoping that the weekend will be brighter. That's the forecast, at any rate.

From a book column:
A copy of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” by J.K. Rowling, sold at auction last night in Dallas for $37,500. Of course, there’s a touch of magic around this particular book: It’s an original proof copy that misspells the author’s name as “J. A Rowling.” Only 200 were ever printed. According to Heritage Auctions, in 1997 a primary school in the little village of Minster Lovell, Oxfordshire, bought this proof copy at a publisher’s sale for one pound. Years later, local business owner Dale Henry acquired the book and decided to auction it off to raise money for the village.

The lawn in mo-wed.
The crab apple tree in the side yard (with branches hanging over the fence into the backyard) has a LOT of little apples on it....so the branches were hanging low and I had to duck a lot....
And there were a lot of little ones on the ground so now there is an abundance of crab applesauce in the yard.

Lest we forget a big movie is opening today.
This is my favorite line from the Indiewire review:
By that measure, Shawn Levy’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” is triumphantly half-successful — which makes it more successful by half than anything else Shawn Levy has ever directed.

I’m enjoying a scoop of coffee ice cream and a scoop of coconut. It’s that kind of a Friday.

Listening to the recent Rodgers and Hammerstein concert that was on PBS. Can’t say I am enjoying it, though. It’s mostly adequate, rarely inspired, occasionally insipid. I surprisingly dislike Maria Friedman, especially on Shall We Dance. Or Shall We Dunce, as she pronounces it a couple of times. She screws up one lyric, but the King, when he repeats it, gets it right. Take that, Missy Anna!

Could it have been intentional, to artificially create a collector's item?

We had this wonderful book shop in Ashland we spent a good amount of time browsing, and playing with the store cat. I remember Keith purchased a set of the first three Harry Potter books. I was pretty sure, though I hadn't read any of them yet, that Keith was expected more from them. I said it won't be The Chronicles of Narnia.
-
Keith read the first book and never read another one.
-
I then quickly read all three books and looked forward to the next one.
-
The first Harry Potter book got by everyone, dealers included. The first UK printing was about 500 hardcover copies and probably a like amount for the softcover, which were published at the same time. The copyright page info on Heritage is incorrect - it's not the wrong initial, it's NO initial - Joanne Rowling is the error, rather than the usual J.K. Rowling. Fixed for all subsequent printings. Most of the hardcovers went to libraries. I was regularly receiving catalogues from a bunch of English dealers - the Harry Potter book was there, but I was mostly buying mysteries. I should have grabbed one pronto, as I frequently took chances on books from other genres that looked interesting.
-
Re the first edition or proof copies of Harry Potter - they ALL misspelled her name, not just the proof copies.
Thank you. That was from the WaPo’s internal book column, not in print.

Have you heard (of) the musical version called What About Luv? (https://castalbums.org/recordings/What-About-Luv-1989-London-Studio-Cast/2932/) with Judy Kaye and her husband (I think), David Green?

When I picked up a prescription at cvs today, the pharmacist wanted to give me a flu shot. She said it's going to get very busy after a couple of weeks, and they won't take walk-ins, only appointments. An updated covid shot is coming soon.
I've never had a flu shot this early before, but she really wanted me to have it. So that's done.
She also said there's lots of covid out there right now. It is putting people in the hospital. So I'll be glad to get that new shot in a few weeks.

Just had a doozy of wacko computer issues - really have to get new one soon. First, the screen just went black and shut off the computer - not the usual thing it does every couple of weeks. It restarted by itself, which it's never done. Fine. Everything comes back but the mouse and keypad aren't working, so I hard-wired them into the computer. Blue Tooth would not recognize them or my speakers. I finally shut down the computer properly and restarted and now it's back to normal - this stuff is wayyyyy to scary.
-
Did my ATM run, picked up books and shampoo from the mail place, came home, food arrived - Crustacean again - crab fried rice - fantastic - then the computer went wacko and finally here we are.
-
That sounds scary. Computer vibes for BK.

Watched Jigsaw earlier. It’s an antifascist noir with Franchot Tone that I’ve seen before. Still effective, especially at the end when the villainess, an aging society maven, dies after taking a shot in the eye.
-
Starting He Walked By Night with Richard Basehart as a sociopath with a gun. Jack Webb us in it, and the script plays like a template for Dragnet.

So...this happened just today:
-
Oh! On a side note, I was able to upload this picture! :)
-
Anyway, we were given two weeks' notice that we must vacate the space that we've had for about two years.
-
:'(
-
>:(
-
They did tell us that because we were otherwise such good tenants and paid on time, etc., that they gave us two weeks instead of the contractual 24 hours!! :o
-
Talk about being blindsided!!
-
Last week, I had ordered ten, count 'em, TEN packs of black acoustic ceiling tiles that were just delivered YESTERDAY!
-
With the 15% discount and free shipping, it was only $1,337.04.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE. :-\
-
Reading through the return policy, it looks like these are returnable.
-
The non-returnable items are custom-made items, and most of those are from a product line that we didn't purchase.
WHEW!!
-
So that's good.
-
Another good thing was that the mall wanted a contract with a greater amount of insurance coverage than what we currently have, but the contract wasn't supposed to start until October.
-
Our regular insurance renews next month (we already made our first payment), and I had originally planned to have the new terms start at our annual renewal (next month), but then I forgot. ::)
-
Wow, George got here early.
-
Just wrapping up the notes.
-
I was literally going to e-mail them next week to update our terms and just pay the difference for what we paid so far and have the new rate going forward, but now that we're being kicked out, I don't need to change anything. ;)
-
There are some benefits to procrastination. ;D
-
Oh George, it is extremely RUDE to not respond to e-mails. EXTREMELY. Please explain.
-
And are we able to upload photos or not?
-
So sorry to hear your company is getting kicked out, DR George!
-
Oh George, it is extremely RUDE to not respond to e-mails. EXTREMELY. Please explain.
AARRGGHH!! I've been busy. ::)
-
And if you hadn't been reading...I also have a tendency to procrastinate.
-
Which is usually not a good thing, but there are times when it is. :)
-
So sorry to hear your company is getting kicked out, DR George!
Thanks, Michael.
-
This just happened today, so it's all still very raw. We'll need to have a board meeting, but that might not happen until after we're out of the space.
-
I also need to research for a storage space that's large enough for all our risers and chairs and just stuff, and hopefully close enough so that we won't have to drive long distances.

I wouldn't procrastinate any more - a simple response will do. I should have thought the subject matter would have been interesting to you, but that doesn't matter - what matters is simple courtesy.

I has spoken.
-
If I was in Spokane I would have spoken in Spokane.
-
I'm not comprehending why the HELL we're on page six.
-
Not at all.
-
No way, no how.
-
Ridic.
-
Way too long on page six.
-
Wayyyyy too long.
-
Endlessly long.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
They weren't too long.
-
But they weren't too short, either.
-

And George has disappeared.
-
Perhaps he's eating a burrito.
-
Or some blackened whitefish.
-
Or some whitened redfish.
-
Perhaps he's eating a burrito.
No, I'm watching an annoying video.
-
Or some smoked cod.
-
If it's the video you SHOULD be watching, pretty interesting, huh?
-
I'm not watching a video.
-
I'm not in the mood.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
I'll take a nice hot shower in a few moments.
-
If it's the video you SHOULD be watching, pretty interesting, huh?
It definitely was! I couldn't watch the whole thing. :P
-
Is that YOUR Meconi's location?
-
I'm watching one of his earlier videos and he's being quite respectful and just seems to be getting information...completely different than the newer videos.
-
At least, in this one video that I'm watching.
