Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the bottom half of the double bill, and now it is time for you to post until the bottom half cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DULCET!

E-mail reply has been sent...finally. ::)

Last night, I ushered for the last Saturday night performance of Cabaret, and it was still very good. I actually forgot and my friend Margo, who also was ushering, called me and asked where I was! SPOO!! :o I quickly changed my clothes and hied myself downtown and was able to usher for the show. Their final performance is today's matinee.

Let's hear it for Buffalo Soldiers Day!!!

-
Tis Sunday once again in Johnston, SC...part of the proud CSRA!
I am not sure why it is so proud to be part of the CSRA, but it beats being a miserable part.
-
I am in a very crabby mood this morning. The neuropathy in my left heel and right toes, along with the cramps and aches in my hip and knee joints kept me awake most of the night. I figure I got about 3-4 hours of sleep. I would have preferred to sleep in, but cats and guilt are a strong inducement to get dressed and feed them.
-
My sleep was interrupted shortly after 4 a.m. by a rather inconvenient and rude allergy attack.
Have been sneezing and blowing my nose quite a bit. I am going to blame it on weed pollen, which IS high this weekend, and the fact that I was out in my yard yesterday morning to visually appreciate the ground where the tree was removed.
I have no other excuse for it that makes any sense to me since I don't go out much at all.
Needless to say, but I'm saying it anyway, my CPAP was useless to me as long as I was all clogged and sneezing and dealing with a runny nose.
I could provide a visual aid, but doubt one is needed or necessary.
-
To add to my misery, Annabelle refused to eat, preferring instead to sit on the sidelines and yell at me while Thatch and Stella ate.
-
Loved the Debbie Reynolds story in the Notes!
I'm trying to recall for certain whether I had actually seen Mr. Bruce Kimmel in person at the opening night showing of "The First Nudie Musical" at the 68th Street Playhouse in Manhattan. That showing was particularly exciting, though.

This morning's gone from bad to worse. I went into the bathroom to clean the litter, only to find the cold water master valve under the bathroom sink has sprung a leak. It must have happened when I was trying to turn off the water to stop the flushing toilet on Thursday night. I didn't notice it on Friday or yesterday, but there's quite a puddle this morning, and I have contacted the landlord.

Good afternoon, all.

It's been quite the extended (and lazy) morning here, but I've also gotten some things done.
Now I need to spend the next few hours cleaning up and scanning the songs for this upcoming student recital so I can both upload it to the iPad and probably print out an emergency hard copy. I have to return this very packed binder in a couple of days, so must get moving on it.

Saw something hideous this morning. For some reason the TV in the living room was tuned to some hideous channel showing the John Ford / John Wayne STAGECOACH (1939). It (1) was in not-so-living hideous colorized color, and (2) was clearly of the hideous pre-restoration vintage. These two factors had already rendered it unwatchable, but the cup of grace was the famous zoom-in shot of Wayne which was truncated down to about...let's say a third of a second...so you really didn't get the shot and they might as well have stuck a still picture in there. But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln...? Well, I guess the word I'm really looking for here might be: hideous. Yes, let's go with that one.

So, as you all know, and in fact - I apologize, because you were probably all waiting with bated breath to hear my repor on it - I was going to attend GREASE last night, but I did not. It had been a crazy day and there was no energy for that. I then thought I'd go tonight, but that isn't happening either. I've got other stuff to do, they've got two more weekends, next weekend is clear for me, so that's that. I know DR John G. will be particularly disappointed.
-
I hope DR Elmore is getting help with the water valves situation.

I'm two-thirds of the way through the scanning project, and it's break time. I will definitely finish today, which is great.
I've had the Olympics on in the background. There's very little I watch intently, but I enjoy hearing it.

I just finished a project I was working on all morning with short breaks to move around.

Good evening.
-
I have had two, maybe three, migraines in my life. I was out flat on my back in so much pain. Jane, I don't know how you are functioning today.
-
My DH left me a couple of weeks ago.
-
He drove to the family reunion. He'll be back tonight.
-
The house has stayed so nice and tidy.
-
But I'll be glad when he is home.
-
Except for the two weeks' worth of laundry.
-
I have been car-free. I have been taking the bus. Which is quite a bit of something in July in Phoenix.
-

Because my migraines, thank goodness, are mild. I've only thrown up once. I find if I move and exercise I feel better. Chocolate helps too, if I only eat a small amount.
-
My DH left me a couple of weeks ago.
LOL, I thought "no way".
-
I have been car-free. I have been taking the bus. Which is quite a bit of something in July in Phoenix.
I expect the buses are air conditioned.
-
I suppose two weeks would have been a bit long to stay home or only go where you could walk early.
-
The house has stayed so nice and tidy.
Keith always said that when I went away without him. It was the same for me when he was gone and I was home alone even if he is the neat one in the house.
-
The buses are air-conditioned. It's the half-mile walk home in 110 degrees that's the tough part.
-
Half-mile doesn't seem difficult until you toss in the weather conditions.
-
And it is probably hotter on your way home than it was to the bus.
-
My DH just informed me that TUMS spelled backward is SMUT.

Hello from Kissimmee
-
I have a dental cleaning early tomorrow morning, and then back to work after a long time away.
-
We arrived yesterday afternoon and after unpacking went for a CrackerBarrel meal that was not pleasant.
-
So glad you've arrived, DR.vixmom. You are probably relieved.
-
Service was terrible , food was cold and our requests for condiments were ignored

Then we came back to the unit and went to sleep

Today we met the kids at a surprise location for a Vixdad birthday celebration

He drove to the family reunion. He'll be back tonight.
Travel vibes for your DH!
-
It turned out to be an escape room, which we solved with just under 10 minutes to spare.
-
It was very enjoyable
-
Then we went to a Blaze pizza where we enjoyed our meals and then back to the kids home for several hours of extended grandson cuddling.
-
That was my favorite part

I have not caught up

Of course.

Home from dancing
I don't know how you dance with all the pain you are in. I'm glad you can.
-
'night
-
It rained another tenth of an inch this afternoon.
-
Starting Night of the Iguana. Turgid, sloppy fun. And Grayson Hall as a scary lesbian.
-
I really enjoyed that movie this time through. Deborah Kerr was her usual excellent self. Ava Gardner was with her every step of the way. Richard Burton was fine, so was Sue Lyon.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page FIVE?

I won't go on about it in the notes, but the musical comedy, Snoopy, over at Santa Monica City College, was not good. It wasn't directed by their usual director and this director decided to "help" the material by inserting all kinds of her own additions into the show and cutting a few songs to make room for them. I'd love to report on these additions but I didn't see them. Sometime prior to the start of the show, the director found out that Larry Grossman, the composer of the show, was going to be there for the closing matinee, so she did damage control immediately by removing all the additions - too late to put back songs - so she cut the intermission and made it one act.
-
It was all very amateurish, with the only performance in which there was any energy and fun was Isabella Sawoski, our musical director's daughter. Lots of off-pitch singing. you couldn't hear Snoopy at all (I'm pretty sure his mic was off for the entire show), and the pace was glacial. It was nice to see Larry - I've met him several times and he remembered me right away.
-
Snoopy as a show is a weak cousin to You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, but it works fine if you have a cast that understands how to play the material and a director who knows how to stage it. I first saw it in 1976 during its first production in San Francisco. I was there shooting the Tabitha pilot and one evening after we wrapped, several of us went to see it. I knew Randi Kallan who was in it and just couple of years later would cast her in my musical Stages. Also in it were Pam Myers, choreographer was Marc Breaux - top-notch people but tepid reviews. It wouldn't get to off-Broadway until 1982 where it also got tepid reviews and ran about 150 performances.
-
Nobody here but us chickens.

This is insane!
-
I saw a kind of staged Snoopy benefit once uptown with Christian Borle and his then-wife Sutton Foster.
-
It occurred to me that “Where Did That Little Dog Go?” was a re-purposed song from a short-lived Bobby Sherman musical TV vehicle called “Gettin Together.” Or at least it appeared on the LP named for that show, under the name “Where Did That Little Girl Go?”
-
Great Debbie Reynolds story. BK, do you still own the 45?
-
Budd Boetticher’s nephew has become sort of a friend. He was the funeral director in charge of funerals and embalming for Reagan and Bush Sr. He writes for my magazine sometimes. He now heads the National Funeral Museum in Houston.
-
And while I’m naming names in tangential fashion, Clark “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” Gesner used to hang out around the Heights players in Brooklyn Heights. I was a protean in “Forum” there in the ‘90s, and he had a rep for hanging around looking for anyone to talk to. He seemed very nice, just a bit lonely, maybe.
-
Just trying to get us off page 5 at this late hour. Forgive me my rambles.

“Getting Together” opening credits. Very Partridge-esque.

I wish I still owned the 45. I've tried and tried to find it on eBay over the years to no avail. I think the Wiltern was the only appearance she did, so however many 45s they gave away that day would be it. But I've found other stuff I never thought I'd ever find, so there's always hope.
