Well, you've read the notes, the notes were hopeful, and now it is time for you to post until the hopeful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IMPECCABLE!

Notes devoured. Empowered.

Good morning, all.

Had an elaborate dream of a Japanese actress forced to take a role in a sordid theatrical drama. Her part is seemingly small. She listens to another woman's monologue about slipping into alcoholism and eventually murder because of the man she's involved with. The actress tries to quit, but it would mean financial ruin, which is just not allowed in her society. She becomes involved with the actor playing her husband and she eventually assumes the leading role. She also eventually becomes the part, right down to the murder.
I think I was the playwright watching it all unwind.

Good morning, friends.

Fun post volley last evening.

Good morning, all!

I slept rather well, which was nice after the past two nights. I had a dream I swore I would not forget, and yet I did. I then had a second dream I remember: Encores! was doing a production of Where's Charley? and I was doing cleanup work on the score and orchestra parts. The small roles were being played by big names, like Nathan Lane. Halfway through the dream, Rob Berman turned into Paul Gemignani, whom I do not particularly like, and this dislike was creating havoc with my professionalism and personal attitudes.

Good morning, all.

This, weirdly, feels like a Monday. (Long story.) It is, of course, a Thursday, and the first of August - a fact that is hard to accept. How did that happen?? How did we ever come to this? Who can explain it? Who can tell you why?
-
We're in for another heat wave, or at least a rwo-day one, as it's going to 91 or above today and tomorrow. I said I'd *finally* get to GREASE at the outdoor theeder tonight, and I'm trying to psych myself up to sticking to that. I really don't like leaving things like this to the last weekend and taking a chance that weather or anything else will interfere. This day evening are guaranteed to be dry, and that's worth plenty.
-
Tomorrow morning, my six-month visit to the dermatologist. I will almost certainly be splotchy for a few days after he freezes a few areas. Totally worth it, of course.
-
"Shall we stand in shallower water and discuss that?"
My favorite line from To Catch A Thief.
-
Congrats to DR singdaw on his millstone.
-
I think DR JOHN G's dream would make a great Hitchcock movie.
-
Two people have expressed interest in the part....I have heard from one but need to hear from the other before I cast the role.
-
Cloudy.....it is supposed to be raining right now.....it's only cloudy.

TOD:
Teresa Wright in Shadow Of A Doubt
Janet Leigh & Anthony Perkins in Psycho
Eva Marie Saint, Cary Grant, James Mason in North By Northwest
Cary Grand & Ingrid Bergman in Notorious
Doris Day in The Man Who Knew Too Much
-
Every morning the FOX News feed on my computer contains headlines on at least three stories about the ASSassination attempt.....they are certainly trying to make that happen - at the direction of the fool himself.
Associates say he thought the story would create headlines for him for weeks.....HA!

I would welcome a raspberry cream pie.
Me too.

And there's a Dreamsicle salad made with orange Jell-O and vanilla pudding, Cool Whip and marshmallows.

TOD:
John Williams in "Dial M for Murder"
Jessie Royce Landis in "North By Northwest"
Dame May Whitty in "The Lady Vanishes"
Naunton Wayne and Basil Radford in "The Lady Vanishes"
Suzanne Pleshette in "The Birds"
Edmund Gwynn in "The Trouble with Harry"

I love most of the starring actors in Hitchcok films, but it's the supporting cast that truly shines in some of them...for me.

Last night I watched Family Plot again. I'm very fond of both it and Frenzy. I want to watch The Trouble with Harry again.
-
Slept extremely well, happy to say.
Had vivid dreams that were a bit nonsensical, but basically about neatness/orderliness and efficiency.
Don't ask.
-
Such wonderful performances.
How could I have forgotten Suzanne Pleshette in The Birds?
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! Getting ready to watch gymnastics.

Sweet!

I liked her in Psycho, too, DR JOHN G.....newly reretired.
-
Home again. Time for a nap.
-
MRI finally scheduled for Tuesday evening.
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.
-
Left for bank one at ten-fifteen. Should have waited an hour, but who knows?
-
One business guy managed to get himself in the bank just ahead of me. Fine.
-
Not fine: My usual, wonderful gal not there. There's one person with one teller, the other teller is on the phone dealing with something. Fine. Not fine: They are literally the only people working today.
-
Not fine: My gal had a family emergency. I sent her all my good vibes and xylophones.
-
Not fine: The business guy ahead of me gets to the teller not on the phone. And his banking was clearly going to take thirty minutes or more - I knew that after standing there for fifteen minutes.
-
MRI finally scheduled for Tuesday evening.
That's great to hear! Vibes that this is a start towards your feeling better.
-
Not fine: The other teller was on the phone for over fifteen minutes. By that time there was actually a line, which I have never seen in this bank, EVER.
-
She finally gets off the phone after twenty minutes. My business, after she understood I was not an account holder but that I WAS in their system, took three minutes. Fine.
-

:(
-
Then I walked over to my bank. Just two people in line - took about five minutes to get to the teller. Once there, it took three minutes. Fine.
-

Would it help to open up a small account at this bank?
-
Not fine: I go to turn right out of the parking lot and some moron in a Mercedes SUV sees this and what does he do? Speeds up suddenly. I turned anyway. He honked. I flipped him off royally. Jerks will be jerks and anyone who sees someone turning right into a right-hand lane when there's plenty of room to do so, and said anyone suddenly speeds up so that the turner has to speed up is a first-class moron.
-
Not fine: I drive to Gelson's. It's now four minutes after eleven. For a minute, I think about getting In 'N' Out because there'll probably be no one there at eleven. Wrong. Line of cars for the takeout window is a block long. I drive by and look in the restaurant - jammed. Who eats hamburgers at eleven in the morning? Apparently, it must be a "thing."
-
I go to Gelson's and apparently have gotten there early enough to get my onion pockets. After I took mine, there were two left and those would be gone by noon because apparently I've popularized this item at this store. Encino store is NEVER EVER out of these. Fine.
-
I get tuna for sandwiches. Fine.
-
I come home. Fine.
-
And here I am. I'll make the tuna in about twenty minutes.
-
Wow! What an adventure, BK! :o

Not salted, sated.

We dropped Craig off at a record store in Portland. He plans to go to one more store before meeting up with a friend for the evening. Uber will get him home.
-
I hope the rest of MR BK's day is FINE.
-
I shall be leaving in a bit for the last rehearsal of the week.
We are blocking and running four scenes.
-
Our ballot is soooo long. I need to finish it today and get it in the mail.
-
I have filled in much of it and just want to go back over a number of my picks before filling in the rest of the boxes.
-
Well, right after I posted earlier our Wi-Fi went out, so I had to use our expensive cellular connection to watch the gymnastics on Peacock. But it was worth every penny of the overage charge I incurred!
-
As soon as it was over our Wi-Fi came back on, of course. Then Richard and I left to do a couple of errands and to eat out. We’re glad to be home in the AC.

Just ordered the Benjamin Kritzer books - my gal was out all last week. They should be here in a week or so, or that's the hope. If you haven't ordered yet, please do. It's so nice to have it looking so good.

I’m taking a Me day. So busy lately, so much to do! I took my car in for an overdue service — glad to have that done. The usually mobbed garage was only moderately busy and it was ready by 1 pm. There’s rarely anything wrong with that car and this time was no different.
-
Has FINE become a passive-aggressive word?
It depends how you use it. I rarely take it has good, the way it should be intended, vs as ok.
-
Hello, everyone.
Hi Jeanne! Good to see you here.
-
Otherwise, I’ve been busy tossing. Still going through my late neighbor’s stuff, plus my own stuff. His stuff is a bit difficult emotionally, so I only do a little at a time. I’ve taken out bag after bag after bag and yet my apartment doesn’t look any different! You can’t tell! Is it cloning itself? Ugh!

I’m going through some old files — this week health insurance. Many years of EOBs (Explanation of Benefits). Yesterday I spotted something interesting. Year before last I went to a new dermatologist. Among other things I showed her a mole that has changed repeatedly — a danger sign. She said she’d check with my insurance about removing it. She then went on vacation and I didn’t hear from her. A couple weeks later her office called me on another matter and I asked whether she’d remove the mole. They said there was nothing about it in her notes, but they’d Chechen with her. The doctor said she didn’t remember it. We went round and round and she gave me a different reply each time, finally saying, It’s not malignant.” (How would you know if you can’t even recall looking at it?) Annoyed, I changed dermatologists and had the mole removed. Yesterday, as I was clearing out these files I noticed a charge from her office, on the day of my visit, to Medicare for a shave biopsy. Very interesting! Is that why she was being so squirrelly? I was not charged anything, but it sure looks suspicious. I’ll mention it to my PCP.

Has FINE become a passive-aggressive word?
My staff in Florida thought so. I use it a lit. 😺

I don’t trellis, but I have discussed trellising techniques before. Seriously.

The other news here was a big surprise. The daughter of the owner of my apartment building lives onsite and has always managed the building. Today that changed and a professional management company has taken over. It’s been chaos, Instead of introducing themselves and letting us know where to pay our rent we each received a cryptic text about signing up to their portal. Most people didn’t even know who sent the text. Then we each received an email reminding us that the rent is due today. We finally received a letter from them, giving us the necessary information. We can mail them our rent, drive to Sherman Oaks to hand-deliver it, or send it electronically for $2.49 each time, or an even higher change using a credit or debit card. My neighbor was livid. I called my bank, and a helpful person said that she’s seen this a lot, fees just to pay your rent. This does not bode well. I cannot recall a single positive experience I’ve had with a property management company — but many negative ones,

Our weather has been very nice, sunny and 70s. Not too hot. That will change in a few days, but to have not-hot weather in July is a pleasant change.
It's been fairly warm today here in Tumwater. I forgot and left my Kindle in my car overnight. When I got into my car today, I was hoping that it wasn't damaged by the heat, and fortunately, it doesn't seem like it was.
-
Tonight for dinner I had broiled walleye.
-
It was still (mostly) charged up and worked perfectly.
-
With tartar sauce and a baked potato.
-
WHEW!
-
That's gotta count for something, right?
Always! :D
-
Thank goodness for that, DR George.
-
The DH forgot and left a vial of insulin in a hot car when we were in Indiana. That had to be thrown out, unfortunately.
-
I overheard someone tonight saying, "Well, I'm British. I didn't know what DEI was. But I heard Americans using it like it meant hiring people that weren't qualified. So I just assumed it stood for Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka."
:))
-
EIGHT?
-
Oh, look! It's Page Eight!!
-
Yep.
-
BK won't be able to complain about page seven tonight.
-
Two days to competition.
Break Legs, John!!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Thank goodness for that, DR George.
I know, right??
-

Oh, no! :-\
-
BK won't be able to complain about page seven tonight.
Absolutely not!
-
;)
-
And let us also move on to...
-
Gratuitous Post #222!! ;D

Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-

We dropped Craig off at a record store in Portland. He plans to go to one more store before meeting up with a friend for the evening. Uber will get him home.
What sort of records does Craig seek?
-
Jeanne that new payment system is ridiculous. How can they change billing options without it being in your lease? I’d contact a tenant lawyer.
-
Some states prohibit landlords from requiring any form of payment that comes with mandatory surcharges; in others, it is perfectly legal. California is very tenant friendly.
-
California Rent Payment Laws:
California Civil Code section 1947.3
California Civil Code section 1947.3 requires landlords or property managers to allow tenants to pay rent by at least one form of payment that is neither cash nor electronic funds transfer. The law allows tenants and landlords to agree to pay rent in cash or via electronic funds transfer, but the landlord must allow another payment alternative, such as checks, unless the tenant bounces a check.
What Happens Where Lease Provision Mandates Rent Payment Using an Online Portal?
Often, California tenants unknowingly sign leases containing a provision requiring they pay rent via an online portal or website. Such clauses are void and unenforceable. California Civil Code § 1937.3(e). This is because they are against public policy for running contrary to California law. Id. In such instances, California tenants need not abide by the provision.
However, California tenants remain free to agree to pay rent via an online portal or website. The law provides tenants, and not landlords, with the freedom to choose how they pay rent.
- -
This is copied from someone’s similar situation elsewhere on the internet. (Unverified)* Your landlord can not require you to pay a fee to pay rent, he must allow you an alternative method of payment, as in a check. Simply print up this Civil Code from the Official California Legislature website and tell the landlord he must comply with the law. My landlord also has a fee for online payment, therefore I pay with check and bypass the fee.

Today, I went to Subway for lunch and I don't like that they've totally changed their flatbread. :P
-
Gratuitous Post 250!! Why not? ;)
-
You can't get their flatbread toasted anymore.
-
It's a different recipe so that if it's toasted, it gets really hard as it cools down.
-
And it has a totally different taste...and not for the better.
-
It's not bad per se, but it's different enough to not be as good as it used to be.
-
Also, they use this same flatbread for their wraps...no more tortillas for the wraps.
-
And they've raised the prices of the wraps, so there's that, too.
-
WTH?? :o
-
Subway's on the way out with their ridiculousness.
-
Annoying.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And George was back to his jam, arriving one minute prior to midnight.
-
But at least we heard about FOOD.
-
AND I didn't realize until I got home that for the ham, egg and cheese breakfast flatbread that I ordered, they charged for the cheese! WTF??
-
How do you make a wrap with flatbread?
-
Ridic.
-
It's in the name of the sandwich!
-
Go to Meconi's.
-
PAGE TEN DANCE!!
-
I wish we had one here.
-
But we don't.
-
Go to Meconi's.
I shall...but tomorrow, I go to Eagan's. :)
-
How do you make a wrap with flatbread?
Good question!
-
They essentially just roll it up...it's not actually wrapped. :P
