Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the new, improved readers - not DEAR readers, but actual reading readers, and now it is time for you to post until the reading cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUMMIT!

Wordle 1,143 3/6

-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I slept rather well. Thatch stayed with me all night, Stella stopped by for a moment, and Annabelle preferred to sleep in her bookcase aerie and only jumped down to the bed around 5:30.
-
.
-
Work like a dog in your underwear.
-
:)
-
Not much is happening here today. I need to call my lawyer, who's retiring, and set a date with her on Thursday to pick up the legal things she's been holding onto for the past 30 years and sign a new living will. I signed one 30 years ago, but neither she nor I knows where it is! So, a new one, and that will wipe out my bank account for the next two weeks until Social Security arrives.
Please, dear God, send work soon.

TOD
Psycho
North by Northwest
Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
Citizen Kane
The Three Worlds of Gulliver

The difference between WANTS and NEEDS:
I want abs.
But I need ice cream.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Looks like one more day of 90 degrees, and that's today. I think my forecast said it's not going above 80 for the next week or so.
BUT...
(And it's a very big BUT, if you catch my drift, and I'm sure you do...)
There's a chance of rain every single day this week, starting tomorrow.
-
There is truly no rest for the wicked.
-
Good morning, all.

There is no rest for the musicians in the pit of Wicked.
-
TOD
Psycho
North by Northwest
Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
Citizen Kane
The Three Worlds of Gulliver
I don’t remember Gulliver, but I agree with the rest of the list.
-
For TOD I will ibid DR ELMORE's list.
-
Work offer vibes for the same DR.
-
Driving home from the meeting yesterday, I got very sick.
I think it's the heat! We have today and tomorrow in the 90's.....then some relief starting on Wednesday.
-
TOD (really narrowing it down):
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Vertigo
North by Northwest
Psycho
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Marnie
Fahrenheit 451
Taxi Driver
Twilight Zone - main themes and selected episodes
One bit of detail: While under the spell of the PERFECT presentation of NxNW yesterday, I renewed my 50-year love affair with the "Act 3" part of the score. Starting with the hospital scene, throughout the Rushmore sequence and right to the end, including the reprises of the main theme on the monument, the score and orchestration are absolute magic. For my taste, the best of the best of the best.
-
DR Jrand73, that's horrible. Stay home and feel better!
And are you sure about Wednesday? Our relief was supposed to start tomorrow. I'll check again.
-
Yeah, we're ten degrees down tomorrow. But Wednesday is indeed cooler still (high of 70???), then it's up and down through the 70s for the rest of the week.
-
We’re supposed to hit triple digits several times this week. A change after a cooler than expected July.
-
No rain in the forecast, but I saw a double rainbow yesterday when I stepped out of my house.
-
I must stir.
-
But let’s flip this page.
-
In one …
-
Two!
-
In honor of the day, I am wearing underwear. Thought you’d like to know.
-
We had rounds of thunder on both Saturday and Sunday nights. I never saw any lightning and the thunder was brief, just enough to send scaredy-cat Thatch into hiding for a couple of hours. Stella, who must have been reading up on tornadose, hid in the bathtub, and the fearless Annabelle slept on the pillow next to me as I watched the TV.
-
In honor of the day, I am wearing underwear. Thought you’d like to know.
TMI!
-
Here's a quick snap of Janet Maslin and Robert Harris after yesterday's screening.
Yes, it's clickable.
I shall assume that everybody was wearing underwear.
-
TOD (in no particular order):
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Vertigo
North by Northwest
Beneath the 12-Mile Reef
The Egyptian
Jason and the Argonauts
Garden of Evil
Journey to the Center of the Earth
The Trouble with Harry
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
-
Decent night's sleep.
Miserable dreams. Nothing major, but a lot of dead ends.
i was up at 7:15 and back in bed at 7:25, and then I slept another two hours.
Feeling a bit sluggish, but it will pass. I hope it will pass.
-
The difference between WANTS and NEEDS:
I want abs.
But I need ice cream.
Excellent! Funny because it's true.
-
Feel-better vibes to Jrand!
-
I have signed up to work the elections. Or at least early voting.

From DR George:
And yes, I was driving down the freeway when I (carefully!) took the pictures. ;)
;D
-
George congrats on the 20,000 miles and capturing the change :)
-
George, may you have many, many more years and miles with your car.

I don't always remember to ask Keith what he did Wordle in, and I'm usually not in the room with him when he Wordles.

DR Jrand did you feel better after drinking water? Stay hydrated and well.

A single load of laundry - underwear included - is happening as we speak.
-
Is today's topic THE NEW, IMPROVED UNDERWEAR?
No. No, it isn't. It's still READERS. So next time I'm in CVS I'm going to look for the ones BK describes. I've only been paying $15 for the el cheapo CVS brand, but these sound good. I use two different ones: +1.25 for music stand distance and +2.00 for laptop distance and general reading. I'll see what they have and try one. My store doesn't seem to replenish these too often, either, so I might have to visit the Studio City location.
-
I am feeling much better thank you.
I do have a short rehearsal tonight....blocking the last scene in Act One....
-
I have recorded the Something Rotten disks for PreShow and Intermission.....lots of nice "From the time of Shakespeare" stuff.
Fun to listen to.
-
DR George: Thrill Seeker!
(I've always pulled off the road to capture those historical bits of photographic evidence.) :)
Speaking of photographic evidence, you're getting very close to your 36000 millstone. That's a rather rounded millstone.
-
In Judaism and Fiddler on the Roof language, of course, 36 is twice Chai (Chai being life)
36000 would then be 2000 times Life!
-
I have signed up to work the elections. Or at least early voting.
That is nice of you to do so.
It pays. That’s even nicer.
-
Waiting to find out if tomorrow’s MRI is covered by the insurance company. It doesn’t appear to be.

MRI for tomorrow was not approved. Back to square one.
-
On a good note: we can now check out 25 DVDs at one time from the library. The limit used to be 10.
-
Today’s Amazon recommendations for me included a box of incontinence pads and a tRump hoodie (in memory of Trayvon?).
-
MRI for tomorrow was not approved. Back to square one.
Wait a minute.
Wait just a damned minute.
Isn't this MRI approval something you've been fighting for, for some weeks now? Or am I conflating it with some other procedure?

Thank all o’ y’all for your kind thoughts on my tumble down the drain. Only a few minor aches remain plus a scar on my leg. I didn’t bother to report the event as there wasn’t an adult to be found running anything at this place. Which should have given me a clew to maybe not go there to begin with.
-
Must be why they call them thrill rides.
-
I shall now be on my way.....hopefully I'll get back home in one piece.
Of course my travels do no involved an inner tube.

No adults, I would not return. At least all is ok and you had fun until then.

Kenneth Branagh is bringing King Lear to The Shed this fall. That’s the theater where Vixmom and I saw Here We Are.

Love Twiggy more, but why did they cut off Tommy's and her feet?
-
why did they cut off Tommy's and her feet?
Because they couldn't reach their heads?
-
I am home alone tonight. I decided to splurge and order Chinese food delivered.
-
I am doing laundry, so I think I deserve it.
-
At least, that is what I am telling myself.
-
Love Twiggy more, but why did they cut off Tommy's and her feet?
Except for when their feet were in the water, were their feet cut off?

This is a clever cat shirt.

Did you read what it says :)

You couldn’t even see the water except when they splashed.

I tried a new recipe for egg salad and I love it. It’s my old recipe of mayo and Dijon, but it adds a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Added herbs from the backyard. Just smooth and delicious.
-
Sounds great, DR John G.
-
Nice shirt, DR Jane.
-
I'm listening to a book called Bookish People. I thought it was going to be a romance. It's not, though a romance could happen. It's more the story of people who work at a bookstore, especially the owner and a manager. It's interesting.
-
The library had a few treasures today, including the DVDs of the stage musicals Titanic and The Toxic Avenger.

I watched the Twiggy vid first, and after watching the Sandy vid, I got the "suggestion" to watch this next (which I did!):
Sandy Duncan Tommy Tune "He Loves and She Loves" (https://youtu.be/OgSaW0ZCvzs?si=AP3l74Ic9Ri63G3Q)
:D
-
And then, the link after that one was:
Bernadette Peters, Bobby Van, Sandy Duncan - two songs from Good News (https://youtu.be/pnWzNddHdtA?si=bBfvmhACemmfvuiU)

This was from one of Sylvia Fine Kaye's evenings on PBS.

Watched an odd melodrama called Three Strangers with Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet and Geraldine Fitzgerald. They wish upon an Asian goddess for money, and before the wish is granted, there’s murder, deception, theft and madness.
-
Now watching a very bad print of a comedy called Eternally Yours with Loretta Young, David Niven, Billie Burke, Eve Arden and more. The visuals are out of focus. The plot is too.
-
That old plot of the divorce wasn’t good strikes again.
-
C. Aubrey Smith to billie Burke: Too bad you’re too old to spank. Or maybe you aren’t.
-
A very young Broderick Crawford looked uncomfortable in his part.

Broadway Lambeth Walk
I love this! I remember watching the actual broadcast!
-
The one time I went to London (my sister and niece also went), we stayed at a hotel on South Lambeth. :)
-
And the original revival with Emma Thompson
https://youtu.be/K-VOP9kDwmQ?si=X4vmSqnwD3mbH8P3
Cool! I'd never seen this!
-
I do, of course, have that London recording.
-
This is interesting...well, to me at least.
-
After I got the London recording, I actually was able to order and get from England the songbook for the show.
-
It turns out that one of the songs, "The Sun Has Got Its Hat On," had a lyric change. ::)
-
On the recording, it has the lines:
He's (the sun) been roasting peanuts out in Timbuktu
Now he's coming back to do the same to you
-
But in the songbook, it had the line as: He's been roasting darkies out in Timbuktu... ::)
-
BUT several recordings on YouTube that were made in the 1930s when the show was originally written, had the n-word!
He's been roasting n-word out in Timbuktu... :o
-
No one nowadays would ever use the original lyric for any reason, so "roasting peanuts" definitely is a good rewrite.
-
But then in searching the lyrics just now, I came across THIS WEBSITE (https://www.google.com/search?q=the+sun+has+got+his+hat+on+lyrics&sca_esv=0e526ec8824269be&sca_upv=1&ei=ScqxZqiAFtmG0PEPsoWOaQ&oq=the+sun+has+got+his+hat+on+lyr&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiHnRoZSBzdW4gaGFzIGdvdCBoaXMgaGF0IG9uIGx5cioCCAAyCxAAGIAEGJECGIoFMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjIGEAAYFhgeMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjIGEAAYFhgeMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjIGEAAYFhgeSL0WUJYHWJYHcAF4AZABAJgBX6ABX6oBATG4AQPIAQD4AQGYAgKgAmjCAgoQABiwAxjWBBhHmAMAiAYBkAYHkgcBMqAHigo&sclient=gws-wiz-serp) that has a less, but still offensive version of the line.
(You can check it out, if you want.)
-
Otherwise, today was kind of a busy day.
-
My niece came over and she helped me clean my kitchen somewhat.
-
Afterward, I went to Panda Express for my dinner.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Second day in a row where I was sure I'd posted when I got up.
-
I got some of their (returned limited edition) Hot Orange Chicken (it's good but it's not very spicy hot to me ::) ), some Kung Pao Chicken, and because I get a free item (I have a discount card), I also got their regular Orange Chicken.
-
I have to come here before answering e-mails.
-
Embarrassing.
-
Part one of our first rehearsal was fun.
-
Dinner was Don Cuco - delivered.
-
Watched a bad movie.
-
Fell asleep for forty minutes.
-
Didn't listen to any music.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
After going to Panda Express, I went to Fred Meyer with the intention of only getting some milk, I also got a new shower curtain liner, some anti-mold spray, and a couple of other things that weren't exactly needed, but definitely wanted. ;)
-
I wrote them.
-
I did not go to Panda Express.
-
I did go to the mail place.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet, here we are on page seven.
-
I did not go to the mall place.
-
And yet, here we are on page seven.
Better than only on page two. ;D
-
I will always loathe Janet Maslin for making her first review at the NY Times a bad one just to show how she could do that - the ONLY bad review The First Nudie Musical got in NY. She was showing off. Good thing I wasn't there because I would have brought it up :)
-
Page two is too few.
-
Page three is two but twee.
-
Page four can be a bore.
-
Page five is barely alive.
-
Page six we get a few kicks.
-
Page seven isn't page eleven.
-
Page eight, now we're talkin' - great.
-
Page nine can be divine.
-
Page ten we get Zen.
