But I don't know how long I can fend them off.

Speaking of urinals...
Here's JD Vance, hanging out with the gals in the latrine. Like one does.
Happy birthday (and birthday weekend) to dear Vixmom!

I've had a random, eclectic week of movie watching. Last night was THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING (x2). The night before was AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. And later last night I watched the first 30 minutes - for my first time ever - of Baz Luhrmann's MOULIN ROUGE.
Whoa.
I hadn't been exposed to his films in some years, and this one's wa-a-ay over the top. Or is it really that much more, uh, [something] than the others? I'll watch the rest soon.

Not a fan of Baz Luhrmann. Like Ken Russell but without the flair.

“So maybe when we make this reform, we set it to take effect in the 2030s, when it’s not clear which party is going to benefit,” he said. “But at the end of the day, I think most Americans, of any party, ought to be able to get on board with the idea that one person, one vote, counting equally, is the fairest way to choose our president.”
I have my post-op today and am looking forward to getting that stitch out. I'm also hoping my vision has improved in my right eye (first one done). I already know I'm seeing better in the left eye. I'll find out how well at the appointment.

I have a consultation appointment in October for cataract surgery. They say that if all looks good, surgery can take play two or three weeks later.

I came to this conclusion years ago. Moving to different states I realized it should be by popular vote, not by state. It took much longer to find others that agreed with me.

Gratuitous post 99!
It is 79 degrees here - but with the clouds covering the sun, it is comfortable inside and out.
I have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride the past month or so after having a lesion on my scalp biopsied by a dermatologist early in July. Cleveland Clinic reported that it was “potentially indicative of systemic lymphoma,” meaning I could have had cancer somewhere, anywhere. So I was referred to a Cincinnati oncologist with whom I had an appointment yesterday.

Oh Ginny, I am sorry for what you have been going through, and extremely relieved you are ok.

That is pretty fast. One reason I switched to the opthamologist I use is that is also does cataract surgery. I liked him so much Keith switched. The nurses at the hospital really like him. He no longer takes new patients and we are glad we switched a few years ago.

Thank you, DR Jane. I’m sorry that I haven’t been very attentive to the progress of your cataract surgeries and I hope you’re recovering smoothly.

My opthalmologist was my surgeon, too, which made the whole process even nicer because I'd immediately liked and trusted her from my first appointment. So, going to the surgery center where she practices made it seamless and it was obvious the people there liked her as well.
I also got in just in time, because she went on her leave of absence to drop her third or fourth kid a week after my second surgery followup.

It almost suggests possible scenic design for an "adult special interest" kind of movie

I thought of Russell throughout that 30 minutes. His movies had shape. They breathed. The ones I know and like, at any rate. This, thus far, is an assault. Not a completely unenjoyable one, I did like little bits of it, and I'm interested to see how it pans out. And I wonder how his ROMEO + JULIET and STRICTLY BALLROOM would look to me now. I remember liking BALLROOM but it's been years since I've seen either one.
Strictly Ballroom holds up because of the dancing. The plot does not.
And yes. Speaking of doctor appointments, this drives me crazy.

As the doctor said yesterday, taking the stitch out in the office is super easy. I love numbing drops.

In that vein, did you ever see this subtitled version someone made of Patti LuPone performing "Buenos Aires" - with the subtitles spelling out what you "hear" instead of the actual lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWGchv7kHzw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWGchv7kHzw)

~~~SUPER DOUBLE DITTO!!~~~
This is Calvin and Klein. They are boxers.
I have been watching BananaBall which is to baseball what pickleball is to tennis.
It is most entertaining with lots of dance routines by the players and lots of funny stuff going on.
I do not understand the scoring system yet....but it seems incidental to the entertainment factor. TRU Tv seems to be its home on cable....if anyone is interested.
Mostly I have seen the Atlanta Bananas play the Party Animals.
Thank you Michael.G!
In preparation for yesterday’s appointment, I had a PET scan last week that found a problem ONLY at the site of the original biopsy and “no hyperbolic metastatic disease” anywhere else. That sounded like good news to us, which the oncologist confirmed yesterday. He did recommend radiation therapy, so I’ll see another specialist next Thursday, but I seem to have dodged a major bullet. For that I’m very grateful.
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!! :D
I hope DR vixmom had something fun planned for this
evening. Or the weekend.
Can I expect a write in victory DR JOHN G?
