Well, you've read the notes, the notes prayed for A/C, and now it is time for you to post until the praying cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERFECTION!
-
Last night, I was just about to post that I have this fan and it creates a nice breeze that keeps me comfortable:
-
...in regards to your exceedingly warm house.
-
From last night: Thanks, Singdaw and John for the congrats on my new millstone!

From last night: Thanks, Singdaw and John for the congrats on my new millstone!
You are most welcome, DR George!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
.
-
I love soft ice cream.
-
I definitely love potatoes.
-
I love Paris in the springtime.
-
Did I mention I love ice cream?
-
~~~MOST EXCELLENT AND SUPER-STRONG A/C COIL VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!
-
TOD: I've tried a lot of Chinese places around here, but have never found one that is truly satisfying.
-
I definitely love potatoes.
Since it's also Aviation Day, I'll add that I do enjoy aviation.
-
Air conditioning vibes for BK!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, so I'm in a pretty good mood to tackle the laundry this morning. I hope it all goes smoothly.
-
DR JohnG, any word on your mother?
-
You're just 11 posts away from the Lucky 70,000 Millstone. It should be a very good day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am a survivor... of the concert and rehearsals and all the blood and sweat and tears that entails, and the massive flooding that hit the area while I, a very lucky person (thankfully, all involved were), made it safely from my home to the venue and back. Many others in the state weren't so lucky. This was history-making rain, with a few state highways and other roads gone in a few places.
-
The housemates return from Rhode Island today, and it's also my one day of rest before having to get up and go to the dentist tomorrow morn' for my cleaning and checkup.
-
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his millstone.
-
A/C vibes for MR BK.
-
Back to rehearsal tonight......
-
Sad to hear DR CILLA LIZ talking on the clip from DR FREDDIE last night......and the gentleman who said that if Harris/Walz wins it will be a fixed election....no way she would win a fair election.
This is what we're dealing with, folks.....infuriating and it all sits on one fool....
-
And it ain't me.
Never heard of it before, but this National Aviator might as well celebrate National Aviation Day. [Certificate No. redacted because the FAA in those days - like Medicare until recent years - used one's SS#.]
-
Oh, sob. Weight 128. I was around that weight for many years, with a waist size of 28 or 30. Sob.
-
Never heard of it before, but this National Aviator might as well celebrate National Aviation Day. [Certificate No. redacted because the FAA in those days - like Medicare until recent years - used one's SS#.]
That's great! Happy National Aviation Day!
-
Hmm. Soft ice cream, too? I could manage that. I've got a Stew Leonard's very creamy vanilla that I could let sit out for a bit.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about five hours of sleep.
-
Did the air conditioning coil get there this morning?
-
DR JohnG, any word on your mother?
She will be evaluated today for hospice. She has not been responsive for more than a day.
-
People arrived at seven-fifteen - people I've never seen before who understand little English - I asked where the boss was and some guy said "I'm the boss." He said where's the condenser. I said the roof, but what about the coil. He said he didn't know about a coil. And Grant - no response. He's gonna get an earful when he does - you need to tell someone if it's going to be an entirely different group of people.
-
Had a bad night of sleep. Well, the sleep was good when it was there, but there were 90 minutes of insomnia. I picked up what I thought would be a tedious book and loved it. It’s called Chasing Lost Time: The Life of C.K. Scott Moncrieff, Soldier, Spy and Translator.
-
He did the first English translation of In Search of Lost Time, which he called Remembrance of Things Past.
-
AC vibes for BK.
-
DR JohnG, any word on your mother?
She will be evaluated today for hospice. She has not been responsive for more than a day.
I'm so sorry, John G.
-
Aviator vibes for DR CHAS SMITH - the Charles Lindbergh of HHW.
-
Today was clean the kitchen & bathroom and laundry day...
-
The last load has been through the washer and the first load has 9 minutes of drying time to go.
I find it really sad that someone I once considered a pretty smart cookie has turned into such an ass.
Well, the noisy neighbor in 4C issue has been solved: Shane, my previous neighbor, has moved it, and it must have happened several weeks ago. A new neighbor, Jackie, has moved in. She left a note about mail on my door this morning. I found it when I went to do the laundry.
-
Thanks for the link Freddie. I had seen the first part of that story and turned it off before the last segment.
-
TOD:
Dim sum is my favorite Chinese experience, with wonderful dumplings, sticky rice, won tons, etc.
I also love the Szechuan variety of cooking, with wonderfully spicy delectables.
When I lived in Oakland, Chinatown was a weekly must for lunch. There was also a wonderful Chinese restaurant on Alameda island. The best part of it is that they had access to genuine ingredients that either arrived via the Port of Oakland or were grown locally by farmers catering to Chinese customers.
I figured she was smart to have passed a bar exam...but when she went gaga over Sarah Palin, I realized the truth about her! She's still trapped in that twilit zone.
-
I love soft ice cream.
I could go for some Carvel's right now.
{{{HUGS!!}}}
-
The last load has been through the washer and the first load has 9 minutes of drying time to go.
I did three loads of laundry yesterday, and probably need to do three more today.
-
That may seem like a lot, but two if those loads are one quilted comforter each.
3hree!!!
And sadly, Phil Donahue, Pioneering Talk Show Host, Dies at 88 (https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/phil-donahue-dead-talk-show-host-1236110652/). :(
So sorry, DR John G.
TOD: Best experience was the Suan La Chow Show at Mary Chung's in Central Square, Cambridge. I've never found dumplings quite like this anywhere else, with a wonderful dark soy / vinegar / red pepper sauce. Mary retired a couple years ago and the kids didn't want to take over, so that's gone now.
-
Worst was a long-gone place also in Central Square, Cambridge where the Yu Shiang Eggplant had absorbed tons of oil and was gross and inedible. A textbook case of how not to cook eggplant. I think that restaurant only lasted a year or two.
-
The A/C is fixed, new filter, too, and the house is cooling down - already 75. When it hits 72 I'll turn it off for a while.
-
Went to Gelson's and got a small Caesar from Wolfgang Puck and some soy sauce for the leftover fried rice, which I'll heat up in about thirty minutes. Salad for later.
-
Booked the musical director for the show I'll be directing early next year.
-
Will continue choosing songs.
-
The A/C is fixed, new filter, too, and the house is cooling down - already 75. When it hits 72 I'll turn it off for a while.
Fantastic!
-
Cool news about the AC.
-
I spoke to Joshie, who is still on vacation till Wednesday. He thinks the project he asked me about will go through. God, do I hope so!
-
Mom is now on hospice. Don't know anything else. She has bounced back so many times before.
-
I hope so too.
Mom is now on hospice. Don't know anything else. She has bounced back so many times before.
Jimmy Carter has been on hospice for months now, God bless him.
I've been having little crying jags today over the Carr book, especially over his last words to Masha and his last heartbreaking chapter.
Yay. After returning home I came to check your news as soon as possible.
Bruce do you know what they did to fix the A/C and if it involved a coil?
-
I spoke to Joshie, who is still on vacation till Wednesday. He thinks the project he asked me about will go through. God, do I hope so!
It IS turning out to be a good luck day! Your getting so close to 70,000 HHW posts can do that.
-
Not getting much done today.
-
I should go out and water. But it's 102.
-
Going up to 105 in a couple of days.
-
If one believes the forecast.
-
Four!
-
I should go out and water. But it's 102.
I expect you need to water early in the morning or in the evening.
-
Going up to 105 in a couple of days.
Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.
-
Good afternoon.
Many others in the state weren't so lucky. This was history-making rain, with a few state highways and other roads gone in a few places.
I am reading the news about the floods and trying to figure out where they were. I watched a news video, including Danbury, of flooded areas.
I'm glad I knew you were ok before watching this.
-
DR Vixmom have you had any flooding or lost power?
-
Good afternoon.
Good afternoon. Too bad Conneticut can't give you some of their water.
-
John, I am praying for a peaceful passing for your mother.
-
Elmore, I hope you get good news from Joshie.
-
Jane, we got about a tenth or so of an inch of rain early Sunday morning. That's the most we've had all monsoon.
-
I have a question for JRand.
If you get a note from a season subscriber requesting a couple of shows for your theater, do you consider them?
-
Jane, we got about a tenth or so of an inch of rain early Sunday morning. That's the most we've had all monsoon.
Pathetic, but I suppose it is good you got something.
-
TOD: The green beans at Genghis Cohen.
-
It brought the temperature down nicely yesterday. It was only about 82 degrees when I left for my walk yesterday morning, instead of 94.
-
TOD Redux:
Tempura fried asparagus!
Fried green beans.
Sweet/sour soup.
-
It brought the temperature down nicely yesterday. It was only about 82 degrees when I left for my walk yesterday morning, instead of 94.
82 degrees is good.
-
For 6 a.m., it sure it.
-
DR LAURA - I always give the titles to the Program Committee for its consideration....unless it something that seems unlikely.....such as the woman who wanted us to do 101 DALMATIANS
-
Good thoughts for DR JOHN G and his mother.
-
Jane, we got about a tenth or so of an inch of rain early Sunday morning. That's the most we've had all monsoon.
Whereas parts of my state got ten to fifteen inches.
Yesterday.
It doesn't seem fair, does it?
-
Project vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Project vibes for DR ELMORE.
Yes!!!
-
Glad to hear that the A/C is now working for MR BK.
It is only 76 degrees here with a nice breeze, so no A/C is necessary in the house.
-
I shall soon be on my way to rehearsal where we will do the next to last day of blocking.
-
We're supposedly getting a couple of days off, tomorrow and the next day. I think I saw the high being 70.
70, Degrees, 70!
-
The A/C is fixed, new filter, too, and the house is cooling down - already 75. When it hits 72 I'll turn it off for a while.
Hooray!
TOD:
So many choices.
I think pea shoots sauteed with garlic is one of the best dishes on the planet. Makes me forget meat.
Diakon cakes coated in chili oil can't be beat.
Shanghai dumplings filled with broth can make my toes curl in delight. And there's now a place less than five miles from my house that makes them by hand. Dangerous.
-
In dim sum, the egg custard cups are outrageous.
I also love bitter melon in a black bean sauce with either chicken or beef.
-
The A/C is fixed, new filter, too, and the house is cooling down
HUZZAH!
-
Onward!
-
Five!
-
I am sorry to hear the news about your mother, DR John G.
Hoping and praying for a good outcome, whatever form that may take. And of course, the possibility that she will rally again.
-
The worst? I went to a Chinese buffet before Christmas a couple of years ago. Half of the steam tables weren't working. The food was all bad, no matter Chinese, Chinese-American or American. When you leave a buffet hungry, it says something.
Worst of the worst was an egg roll tougher than Ho Chi Minh's sandal. And cold.
-
Thank you, all.
-
My sister is in Shelton, slightly north and east of DR ChasSmith. There weren't flooded, per se, but their roof is damaged from a micro-burst a week or two ago, and they have been waiting for an insurance adjuster.
During the storm yesterday, they started getting a lot of water into the house from the damaged roof, so now things are a lot worse than they were before.
Miraculously, they were able to get someone out during the storm yesterday to tarp the roof.
-
I have been to Chinese all-you-can-eat buffets where jello was on offer.
-
The cats and I are wearing our "Cats Against Trump" caps and T-shirts and waiting for the convention to begin.
-
I hear tonight's events will go on past 11:00, so I don't know if we will last past 9:30.
-
TOD:
I've liked the Mongolian beef almost wherever I've had Chinese food, usually mixed with rice (white rice or fried rice).
There was a place near law school where it was really good, and the dish has somehow never disappointed, though it's clearly not healthy eating.
-
I almost ordered Chinese tonight from my favorite take-out place up the street, New Kam Lai. I love their fried pork dumplings and mixed veggies with bean curd.
Sending love to John G and family.
Why would CNN put a clownshow like that on the airwaves? Already sowing the seeds of another “steal.”
-
Greetings from tomorrow in Tokyo. Hot here, but overcast.
-
Yesterday was kiddie consumer day as they got to go to their Pokémon and Nintendo stores and get a few goodies.
-
Hope that coil has been taken care of.
What a shame. Bless the person, people who put a tarp on their roof. The insurance company should have ordered that to begin with.
I may (or may not) have read somewhere that if you serve jello with a fortune cookie, that makes it an authentic Chinese dessert.
That sounds like great fun!
-
Having leftovers from last night's dinner out for supper tonight.
-
Both CNN and CBS have turned into shills for Trump.
-
But the media is doing exactly what it did in 2016 - they learned NOTHING.
-
I don't know that' I'll make it to the play reading tonight. Just too zonked.
-
Unless I get a second wind.
He just needs to post one more post!
I have been to Chinese all-you-can-eat buffets where jello was on offer.
Chinese health drink may be the worst Chinese dish I've ever had. Two types of beans in a parfait glass with weird grass-flavored gelatin, crushed ice and whipped cream. Still trying to figure that one out.
Nice.
If I were BK, I'd want to sit at home too, in the coolness.
-
You've heard of a raisin in the sun.
-
But have you heard of the sequel?
-
A peach in the sun?
-
Finishing Ted Lasso season one. It did get better as it went on.
-
Will you watch season two?
-
'night
-
Good night, Jane
-
Will you watch season two?
If the library gets it, sure.
-
Starting Opening Night. I hope it's not too close to The Country Girl. But I fear it will be.
-
I watered after dark. I hope I got everything that needed water.
-
Here’s a San Antonio singer doing a song about Kamala.
-
I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to finish Opening Night. I don't remember much about this except Gena Rowlands. She's great. Joan Blondel is really good too.
-
The cats and I are wearing our "Cats Against Trump" caps and T-shirts and waiting for the convention to begin.
I want one! ;D
-
Why would CNN put a clownshow like that on the airwaves? Already sowing the seeds of another “steal.”
What did they show??
-
I've been listening to the simulcast of MSNBC's DNC broadcasting on SiriusXM.
-
Good night, all.
-
Hi, George.
-
We can move this along.
-
With a song in my heart.
-
And a post or two.
-
Onward!
-
Beloved seven!
-
Hi not caught up
Didn't want to post until I spoke with my brothers, Mom fell and I've been in ER and ICU with her
Brian bleed but ruled out stroke
Vibes and prayers please
-
Finished with my sporadic viewing and my more than sporadic dozing off. I must have dozed off for over two hours during my viewing - but not two hours at once. I'd start watching a movie then it would be forty minutes later, etc.
-
And now I must write some notes, because I want to be in bed by twelve-thirty.
-
What page is this? Oh, the page I've heard that I do not care for.
-
I am free of care for this page.
-
I have no loyalty to this page.
-
This page is a placeholder for the next page.
-
Currently, seventy-four lovely degrees. That's my preferred temperature for this house.
-
Very pleasant.
-
One could say pleasantly pleasant.
-
And one did.
-
Had the little Caesar salad earlier.
-
And a telephonic conversation.
-
That brings us pretty current.
-
Currently current.
-
Oh, no! :(
~~~Super Vibes for Vixgran!!~~~
-
Notes are ready to post.
-
And I'l be posting them right after midnight.
-
In other news, I still do not care for this page.
-
I do feel we'll be off of it soon.
-
I feel it in my bones.
-
What it is doing in my bones is anyone's guess.
-
I might shave now so I don't look like a derelict in the morning.
-
Yes, that's a fine idea and it's still forty-five minutes away from midnight.
-
So, shave I will.
-
As soon as I'm off this damn page.
-
One simply cannot shave if one is on page seven.
-
It just isn't done.
-
It would be foolhardy.
-
Or Laurel and Hardy.
-
Or Andy Hardy.
-
Ah, page eight. NOW I can shave.
-
I am shaved and now only look like half a derelict.
-
Will George and his jam show up before midnight?
-
I don't see him.
-
He's probably eating a burrito.
-
I, on the other hand, am not eating a burrito.
-
I'm not eating anything at this point.
-
In the morning is another story.
-
I want to try something new at our usual breakfast jernt. Usually I have a bacon, cheese, and scallion omelet. They have many other roll your own omelet items. They also have a chili, cheese, and onion omelet - I used to have those at Jerry's Deli and I loved them. I'll see how I feel.
-
George isn't even in the room.
-
He has seven damn minutes to make an appearance.
-
As soon as I post the notes, I'll shower and then it's bed.
-
What?
-
I thought someone said something.
-
Apparently not.
-
The sound of silence.
-
The silence is deafening.
-
The silence is - silent.
-
Here comes midnight in three minutes.
-
I'm sure George will mosey on in whenever he feels like it.
-
For now, it's just li'l ol' me.
-
Not a creature is stirring - not even a George.
-
Or maybe he is stirring - some Ovaltine or Bosco.
-
What ever happened to Bosco?
-
Do they still make it?
-
Do they still have Chef Milani?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
