Well, you've read the notes, the notes hope that Friday will be my day, and now it is time for you to post until the Friday my day cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPLENDIFEROUS!
-
And a very happy heavenly birthday to the very much missed TCB.

Thanks for that tribute, BK. Thinking of dear DR TCB.

Good morning, friends.

And others.

Just having concluded three full days of interviews at work, I don't recall anyone giving this answer:

Who decides these things?

Only the Shadow knows.
-
I spent a half hour last night trying to diagnose a computer problem remotely with my mom. Alas, we didn't figure it out.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The cats and I are up early since I have things to accomplish before I head off to City Center.
-
I went to pay my Con Ed utilities bill and nearly passed out. Last month, it was $133; this month's bill is $398. Granted, it's been very hot outside, but my AC is on a 75 degree thermostat and I refuse to believe my rate has gone so high.

Whoa!

This same shinola is happening in Connecticut! A few months ago my bill was $184 which was fairly typical for this house in moderate spring weather. Then the hot days got here, and based on prior years I expected the next bill to be $250, maybe even a little more.
IT WAS $470. The powers that be keep approving whatever increases they want, and this time it was a whopper. They've even said there's another increase coming.

Good morning

Good morning, all.

Is Folgers in a cup REALLY the best part of waking up?
-
Not looking forward to my next utility bill.
-
Yes I knew when we got a letter late last year that our electric rates were going up - bigly.....it is not pleasant.
-
Vibes that this is the Friday for MR BK.
-
TCB!
-
There is a very high pollen count at my house today....and I didn't have to read about it to know that it is so.
-
I saw JAWS on its opening weekend with my three younger brothers, my sister and her boyfriend.
The theeder was packed, some folks were sitting on the floor in the aisle.
There was much screaming and some great laughs and applause and carrying on when Bruce the Shark was blown up.....
And for the rest of the time he was at home, my youngest brother David would take the dog into the bathroom with him while he took a shower.....
-
And a very happy heavenly birthday to the very much missed TCB.

So many near-simultaneous millstones going on!
(Edited at 4:22 pm Eastern time :) )
-
singdaw, you're closing in on a beautiful pretty-round 55,000. 41 posts away.
-
And a person should celebrate every millstone passing by.
-
Morning has broken with a roar as Denny is here cutting grass and edging growth along the pond shoreline.
Sigh.
-
TCB!

TOD:

It is if that is all you have!!

That ought to easily be reached today.
-
I was in Naples, Italy, when "Jaws" exploded onto theater screens.
It was a few months after it premiered that a print reached our base theater.
I was pretty excited to go see it and a couple of friends and I thought we ought to be there early before a line started. We were an hour early and it was a good thing because a lot of people had started the line much earlier. Still, once tickets were being sold, we got in rather quickly and got great seats.
The theater was packed, and the thrills/chills were all there.
To this day, I cannot bring myself to do more than let waves break over my feet and legs when I'm near the ocean.
-
Denny finished my yard about 10 minutes ago, and it looks beautiful.
It's 76 degrees, the sun is shining, the sky is a wonderful blue.
And, it's lunchtime!
-
Thinking of DR TCB today and greatly missing him.
-
I'm up, I'm up - the alarm was set for ten, but I've been up since eight - maybe six hours of sleep.
-
DR Ginny I've not seen an Israeli flag flying anywhere around here.
-
DR Ron I will make sure to watch Adam Kinzinger's speech today.
-
I am home from City Center with the Gypsy Overture to ponder over the next couple of days. As usual, I had a great time gossiping and laughing with Joshie before we settled down to speculate changes between the original score and the new print-out, which was assembled from the national tour parts. I was even more amazed at the errors in the published vocal score, since it is sent out with the rental materials as "the pit piano" book. Josh and I agree that onlyz adds to performance issues.
-
Several years ago in a reduced pit I played from the Gypsy vocal score, which was just "doable" since I was only playing rhythm and whatever was really needed. But our MD was stunned when he found that that was the conductor's score, too.

PAGE THREE DANCE!!
-
For my power bill, I'm on something like a budget plan, but that's not what they call it. They averaged my monthly use over a year and I pay pretty much the same each month. Then one month a year, they adjust if I used more or less than that, and I'll either pay more for that one month or get a credit. Otherwise my monthly payment doesn't really change. :-\

From George:
Yes, two. I'm #13 on on 2 copies from my library (13 week wait), and #10 on 6 copies at Pierce County (4 week wait).
I thought I had to pick one library or the other, or the book was automatically held in the shortest queue.

Hello from early Saturday in the far east.

My heating oil and propane are on a "budget" plan that gets adjusted annually.
(Heating oil is for the furnace. Propane is for the cooking, water heater, and the generator. We don't have natural gas lines in this area.)
-
Mom has died. I was on the phone, talking to her. I told her when she was ready, she could go. She went immediately after.
-
The same thing happened with my dad. When my mom told him it was okay to go, he did.
Turns out the same friend who with Mom when Dad passed was also with Mom just now.
-
Wow. Condolences, DR John G.
When we knew my dad was going, my sister told him it was okay to go, and she had me talk to him and say it over the phone as well. He went the next morning.
-
Condolences to John.
-
Friday was kind of a my day already, just not quite what I hoped for, but still a fine my day.
-
There was a minor modern major miracles, so that was good.
-
I got some fresh bagels and had two tuna sandwiches on onion bagels - very good.
-
The helper came and she'll now ship books.
-
What is this page three malarky?
-
Why say in one post what you can stretch out to five posts?
It's the Haines His Way way.
-
A time-honored tradition.
-
Went to the mail place and picked up an Amazon package containing essentials - toothpaste, some new toothbrushes, socks, and a three-pack of twelve disposable razors per pack, sold only as a set. Only it wasn't a set and there was only one, so that's going back and they'll send me the three pack. The one that was in the box even says SOLD ONLY AS A SET. Hmmm.
-
I just read your news, DR John G. I am really sorry. Thinking of you and your family.
-
Not really understanding the Gypsy stuff so maybe elmore can explain. This is a show that has had more revivals than almost any musical in history. How can the parts not be correct after all these revivals? Are they playing wrong notes when they do these revivals?
-
Weird.
-
I came right home after the mail place.
-
I have a few more things to do, then I can watch something.
-
Page four - at long last.
-
It was a long time coming.
-
I'm still full from the sandwiches.
-
Are you?
-
I am.
-
I was listening to this new release today, and thinking how much Rebecca Luker sounds like Barbara Cook in certain registers.
-
Timbre, as vocal pedagogues say.
-
Mom has died. I was on the phone, talking to her. I told her when she was ready, she could go. She went immediately after.
I'm so sorry, John G. Sending condolences to you and your family.
-
A colleague went to the MN State Fair today. I told her that I hoped she ate all the things.
-
Our State Fair is the second-largest in the country by attendance, only smaller that Texas's. But they run much longer than our 12 days.
-
I don't go anymore. I find that as I age, I am more shy of large crowds.
-
Just not my thing.
-
I am not attending live classical concerts or theater as much as I used to, either.
-
COVID kind of put an end to all that, and I'm not sure that I'll ever go back.
-
To pre-COVID levels, at any rate.
-
I see the new COVID vaccine for this Fall has been approved by the FDA.
-
I'm sorry to hear about your Mother, DR JohnG. Sending my condolences.
-
Here's a shirt for you, DR George, if you ever get tired of Hawaiian.
-
DR John G., I am so glad that you were able to go out for your mother's last birthday celebration, not that long ago.
-
Why say in one post what you can stretch out to five posts?
Exactly! ;)

Gratuitous Post #111!!! ;D

My heart goes out to you, yet I am very pleased you were able to have a last conversation with her and say goodbye.

It helps them and us.

I too was able to tell my father it was ok and that Mom was waiting to see him.
-
There was a minor modern major miracles, so that was good.
Good.
-
COVID kind of put an end to all that, and I'm not sure that I'll ever go back.
Same here, plus I can't understand much of what is being said.
-
I see the new COVID vaccine for this Fall has been approved by the FDA.
Yes. I went online to book appointments and they still aren't letting me book them.

All of a sudden I can't turn the page on the book I'm reading. I double checked that it is the full book and not a sample, something I once did by accident.
-
Were you able to get a flight, John G?
I'm going to drive. I'll need the car. And I will need the peace of the drive.
-
Friday evening greetings.
Mom has died. I was on the phone, talking to her. I told her when she was ready, she could go. She went immediately after.
Deepest condolences, DR John G, to you and your family. Last month my sister told her husband his late golfing buddies were waiting for him on the first tee.
-
Speaking of my brother-in-law, we are now in Grand Blanc, MI, for his memorial commemorations. Celebration of life reception Sunday at their golf club and a private internment service Monday with military honors.
-

Is BJ still going to the sitter? I imagine it would be difficult to take care of him while on this trip.

Now I understand the special meaning of having the service at their golf club.
I find military honors very moving. We have my father-in-law's flag here.

"Smart as a German hunting poodle." Great line in My Beloved Monster.

We need rain like crazy. We're in stage four drought restrictions. I'll let the plants enjoy the sip they had tonight and will water them in the morning before I leave.
I have to take JB in and take my houseplants to a friend's before I can officially hit the road.
-
I hope all goes well in the morning and you begin your drive at a reasonable hour.

Mom has died. I was on the phone, talking to her. I told her when she was ready, she could go. She went immediately after.
Oh, John! Seven years ago this month, my mom basically did the same after I told her it would be all right, that I would be okay and that I would make sure her sister would be under my protection.
It still hurts, that loss...that void that still echoes in my life.
My sincerest appreciation for how you will be feeling for quite some time. Sincerest condolences.
-
So sorry to hear this, John. May her memory be a blessing.
-
It’s been a day.

-
Not very sporting.

More sporting would be page ten.

And yet - page six.
-
That's a little too New York Post for me.
-
The music I'm listening to is wonderful - the Russian National Orchestra, which is playing it live, is less than wonderful.

And so it goes.

And goes it so.
-
Well, back to writing some notes.

In one minute.

The question becomes can we get off this damn page in one minute.

Not sure.

And I'm too lazy to count the postings.

Doesn't look like we're getting off this damn page.

It just goes on and on.

I'm like a ball of yarn unraveling.

I do not care for page seven.

But at least we got here.

Yes or no?

That is the question.
