Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not have half a sixpence but did have half a cherry, and now it is time for you to post until the half a cherry cows come home.

And the word of the day is: BLESSED!

And now - Dino at the piano.

Notes concluded. Denuded.

Today, my sister's handyman is stopping by to give me an estimate on what it would cost to cover the exposed boards in my kitchen, and maybe a couple of other things (if I'm able to remember what they were ::) ).
-
We'll see how it goes!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept fine until some time around 3:00. Then it was a case of nodding and dozing while Stella and Thatch kept me company or ran off to play. By 5:45 I decided to go ahead, get out of bed, and dress.
-
First thing this morning, I need to find my headphones and listen to Ethel Merman sing "Small World" several times.
-
Tuesday.
DR FREDDIE I don't need any more theeder surprises.

Tonight we are doing the entire play......so it will be a LONG night....

Good morning, all.

Some of my ancestry is Welsh, and now i am wondering if any of them ever shot a rabbit.
-
And here it is. The post-Labor Day morning that has always represented the change of seasons and the start of so many things...regardless of my age, where I'm living, and what I'm doing.
-
Tonight and tomorrow are my nights to play the Spitfire rehearsals.
That will be interesting and fun.

TOD:
My very favorite ice cream flavor is Vanilla. It's soothing by itself, and yet it combines with many other delightful things...chocolate/caramel/hot fudge syrups, for instance. I can put chopped pecans or walnuts on it. I can also add a liqueur to brighten up a nice meal.
I am also partial to coffee ice cream.
My favorite brand is Haagen-Dazs but am also partial to the less expensive Blue Bunny brand.
Others I enjoy: Neapolitan, Strawberry and Peach. An occasional Pistachio intrigues me, as well.
-
I am expecting Lamar Livingston and his brother Stuart sometime this week -- maybe today -- to give my shrubbery a good pruning.
-
Just for fun this afternoon, I'm watching the ASMAC Zoom discussion on Finale and Dorico.
I'll probably end up taking advantage of the "crossgrade" - the catchword of the day - to acquire Dorico.
Edit: I originally typed AMPAS. Oy!

Eventually.

“Doctor Livingston, I presume” was a preposterous song Ethel sang in Happy Hunting.
-
I shall now have that earworm in my head all morning.

It’s Mister Livingston.

Well, frankly, not a lot these days. I've been having some vocal issues and gave up most of my singing gigs.

Good luck it isn't too bad and that you remember all that needs doing. The handyman might also have suggestions.

TOD: Chocolate is far and away first, but fresh fruit flavors in season are also great. Plus combining them in chocolate / cherry combinations.

I've had these and the are good.
I agree. When I do buy them I get the snack size.
-
First banking went very quickly - in and out in two minutes. Walked over to BofA - they don't open until ten - say WHAT? All other branches open at nine. So, I went to Art's Deli across the street to kill forty-five minutes.
-
And that is the last time I will ever set foot in there.
-
I'll just cut and paste my Yelp review.
-
After that sorry experience, I got in and out of BofA in six minutes, so all that's done.
-
Did a quick stop at Gelson's.
-
Went to Best Buy to look at TVs. On every TV there they'd have to price match, because they're ALL cheaper on Amazon.
-
I had some tuna pasta salad to try and rid myself of the Art's taste.
-
Not wholly successful.
-
Here's the Yelp review.
-
Those who follow me (and who doesn't - I'm kidding) know that I hate leaving one-star reviews and I'll try to never do that unless it's truly warranted. Art's has been around forever. It's never been a favorite but they do certain things well and that's what I order. Good matzoh ball soup. Tri-Salad is a favorite. Patty Melt isn't bad. I don't mind the matzoh brie and a bacon and cheese omelet.
However, as others have pointed out, Art's is now THE most expensive deli anywhere in LA and environs. The prices are actually breathtaking, and not is a good way. At some point, folks, it becomes ridiculous. My tri-salad is now $33.00 - yes, you heard that right. Nothing, and I mean nothing on this menu is worth that kind of money. But enough about that.
This morning, having some time to kill until the BofA across the street opened, I went in and ordered a toasted sesame bagel and cream cheese, a side of bacon, and a Diet Coke. Let's get the price for those three items out of the way first - with tax and tip? $25. Absolutely outrageous. They now charge $5.50 for a soda. Appalling. But let's get to the food, shall we? I don't know what was up with the toasted sesame bagel, but it must have been sitting on top of a garlic bagel because that's all I could taste - and frankly, the cream cheese tasted off to me. And then there was the bacon. I'm here to tell you that these four pieces of whatever they actually were had not seen a griddle in days. They, in fact, look like that fully cooked bacon you buy in the market - the kind of thing Subway does - fully cooked and they just warm it up. This was so disgusting I cannot even begin to tell you. I am currently totally sick to my stomach. And baby, when that happens it's an automatic one-star review.
And the last time I ordered my tri-salad via Door Dash, despite the included note in ALL CAPS saying two scoops of turkey salad, one scoop egg salad - NO TUNA - they gave me the tuna and it so permeated everything that the entire thing went into the trash and I got a full refund from DoorDash. And no one there seems to care. Art's, get it together. In case it hasn't been blatantly obvious, people have stopped coming. Ask yourselves why and then perhaps do something about your ridiculous prices and get some real bacon and keep the sesame bagels away from the garlic bagels and keep the cream cheese fresh. Otherwise, just give it up. Front desk people, try looking like you're happy when someone comes into the restaurant, rather than just ignoring them.
Sorry for the length, but I am so close to vomiting on the ground and that makes me VERY VERY VERY unhappy. The End.

Damn! As it turned out, as soon as it got going I was called away from my desk and I just left it running, and later when it was time for me to get ready for my rehearsal, it was still going on... and I can only hope they make it available for viewing again. It seemed to be a very worthwhile session, but I heard, like, three minutes of it.

Gena Rowlands sings in Love Streams. Who knew? She really could do it all.
-
Nothing nice to say - so I will say nothing.
Except tomorrow is another day.
-
Ouch, JRand. Just ouch.

Watching some of the Love Streams extras. They’re fairly fascinating because Cassavetes comes off as everything he isn’t on screen. Everyone loved him personally. I wonder why he liked to play such unlikable louts.

Mom collected elephants. It turns out her coffin appears to have reflected that.

Totally accidental. But it was still a surprise.

We’ve been on it too long.

Onward!

It’s raining again. Fairly hard.
-
Time for bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
One thing must be said at this time: I do not care for page seven.
-
And what a weird night.
-
Could not get with any movie I tried to watch.
-
So, I ended up watching some idiot YouTube food "reviewers" do their thing. One was on best burgers in LA. They LOVED all the smash burger places - Apple Pan and a real burger - not a great score - and that's the trouble with these kiddies who do this - they're all about the latest thing - they wouldn't know from a classic REAL burger.
-
Then there were three barbecue jernts, all in locations I will not be going to. But they all looked quite good, with one in Long Beach being the one most likely up my alley.
-
I have ingredients for faux chicken stroganoff for tomorrow, but I want BARBECUE! Perhaps I'll do that on Thursday.
-
Decisions, decisions.
-
Must write some notes now.
-
It simply must be done or chaos will ensue.

And we cannot have chaos.

Chaos only leads to chaos.
