Good morning, all!
-
BK, I would subscribe to the Jew Eats Food channel in a second! Start 'er up.
-
The first thing I did at 5:45 this morning was to cancel my Access-a-Ride for today. As soon as I was out of bed and dressed, I rescheduled my podiatrist appointment to Sept. 24. At the moment, the most important part of my life is finish "Small World" and get on to "Have An Egg Roll, Mr Goldstone." I need the income.

Stella, all five years and two tons of her, has been acting like a playful kitten this morning, jumping and bouncing about the apartment with toy. She's been very cute.
-
Yesterday afternoon, Jackie - my new neighbor in 4C - same down to visit. I'm guessing she's in her mid- to late-20s, and she's very pretty. She's from Minnesota, and she's been in New York for two years. I had been keerping an eye outr for mail that she thought might be coming to my apartment, but nothing has shown up for two weeks, so I guess all is good. We had a nice, maybe 30 minutes, visit, and she brought me a Zabar's cinnamon babka, which i've been devouring for breakfast. Even better, she likes cats and the cats liked her.
-
That's nice, DR elmore3003.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.

What a horrid night of sleep. I have a cough and a bronchial thing. My throat feels like it is on fire.
I don't know if I have full-blown COVID, but I obviously caught something from the DH.

Who decides these things?

My boss told me that her son refused to allow her to take a "first day of school" photo yesterday and instead shut the door in her face.
I told her I'd fix it, and I have:

I am so good with Photoshop that I'm sure no one can even tell.

When it's laundry day on the pirate ship...

Good morning

I never got a chance to come back yesterday

Yuck is all I have to say to BKs Arts Deli experience.
The price is ridiculous.
-
But for the price you’d expect the food to be fabulous….
-
Or at least edible
-
John G…love the unexpected elephants on your Mom’s final bed. I expect she would have laughed and enjoyed them as well.
-
George the catio looks lovely.
-
Hope the cats enjoy it
-
Singdaw I am so sorry about your voice, that is terrible news and it makes me very sad.
-
Thank you, DR vixmom.

I have a dental checkup this morning.
Tomorrow, I have a quarterly visit with my primary care doctor.
My newly minted status as being 76 years old is the primary reason for the back-to-back appointments.

I just booked my six month checkup appointment with my urologist, so that makes me happy.

Elmore did you know the older guy who worked the counter in the basement-level music section of the Times Square Barnes & Noble?

I’m lying face down so they can zap the very top of my head. When I showed my friend Sharon the photos that were taken at the simulation she said, “Worst massage bed ever!”

Thank you, DR Freddie!

DR Elmore, I’m glad to hear about your nice new neighbor.

Thanks George. I was fine without the internet and just read my book. Keith had to use his phone to entertain himself ;D

From DR John:
Mom collected elephants. It turns out her coffin appears to have reflected that.
Wow, that is beautiful.
-
From Bruce:
So, I ended up watching some idiot YouTube food "reviewers" do their thing. One was on best burgers in LA. They LOVED all the smash burger places - Apple Pan and a real burger - not a great score - and that's the trouble with these kiddies who do this - they're all about the latest thing - they wouldn't know from a classic REAL burger.
Smash burgers seemed to be popular in Amsterdam.

I could easily have an elephant collection if I didn't resist.

I’m on my stomach with my face in a blue thing that keeps me still. They put some kind of protective cape across my shoulders, but I can’t see it. Tomorrow I’m going to ask them to show it to me. Today we were there and back again in about an hour.

Hello, everyone.

Get well pronto to Singdaw! That sounds terrible!
I do hope you’re able to use some sick leave and rest.

Elmore, I hope your new neighbor is not only nice, but the helpful sort as well. A pastry from Zabar’s is a good start.

I like the catio, George. Maybe another photo, but with the cats in it?

The street I live on is being resurfaced today, so I’m having an at-home day. Plenty to do here! Plus, we’re in a heat wave, as bk mentioned. 90s today through Sunday.

Going to see a dress rehearsal tonight of a show called Lifespan of a Fact. I know someone in the cast.

But first, a nap.

Every time I read about a school shooting I worry about Craig, and all the children I love.

We saw that at Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park with our friends Tom and Sharon. The after-show dinner conversation was quite lively.

Thank you, DR Jeanne. No effects so far, but I’m only 2 in - 16 to go >:(
-
DR Ginny, is nausea one of the possible side effects? If so you might want to get a prescription for Zofran (ondansetron) in case you need it.
-
This morning we skipped the gym and did the errands we had originally planned for the afternoon. They couldn't be put off as we needed to fill the gas tank.

All was well at the pharmacy and we were able to get our flu vaccinations. This year the 4th ingredient has been dropped and there is no long a quad option, just tri.

Ordered a book on Arvo Part from Amazon. Turns out to be a graphic biography in full, glorious black, white and gray. I look forward to diving into it.
-
DR Ginny, is nausea one of the possible side effects? If so you might want to get a prescription for Zofran (ondansetron) in case you need it.
Nausea hasn’t been mentioned, but I do have kind of a metallic taste in my mouth that I’m going to ask about tomorrow.
-
Better than nausea but still very unpleasant.
-
DR Ginny a metallic taste can also be the first sign of severe acid reflux. I hope it isn't that and something that will go away when you are done. Do you like black licorice? If so, this might help.

DR Jane, I don’t NOT like black licorice, but I’m not sure I like it enough to use it for medicinal purposes.
-
It helps but doesn't work that well if you don't like it. It could reduce the metalic taste, but then you would be left with the tast of licorice-lol. I hope you get an encouraging response tomorrow.

'night

Good night, Jane

I'm guessing Red Vines don't work as well as black licorice.

Guns are the leading cause of death for children in the U.S.A between the ages of 1 and 19. More than cancer. More than vehicle accidents.

Starting a new series called Chelsea Detective, which came recommended by someone last week. It's a BBC mystery, so it should be good.
-
Lifespan of a Fact was engaging. Well acted. Beautiful set. I guessed the ending some time before it ended, but that didn't bother me. Good comedy. I could have done without a scene in which a character discusses the death of his mother.
-
I think I enjoyed being back in the theater most of all.
-
This theater group is planning a reading of Thornton Wilder's The Long Christmas Dinner this December. I know I have read it, but I remember nothing about it, except the title. Anyone know it?
-
Also, today is the 10th anniversary of the theater's opening.
-
Tomorrow will be my 10th anniversary of volunteering there.

It was the San Antonio Symphony playing Mahler's Second Symphony. The Resurrection was a perfect choice as it was a resurrection of sorts of the land being used for a performance hall. The original had burned twice and all they saved was the facade.
-
It's a long way to heavenly seven.
-
And still I blather.
-
And bloviate.
-
Started listening to Water for Elephants
.
-
Enjoying the score as a whole better than the number on the Tony's.
-
Liking the music and the orchestrations more than the lyrics.
-
But I don't know the story
.
-
I guess I will read the liner notes tomorrow.

The circus song sounded like second rate Cy Coleman, which is better than anything in The Greatest Showman.

I'm running dry here.

Inspired by yesterday's topic, I had a scoop of coffee ice cream topped w with a scoop of double chocolate, which was chocolate with just the cookie part of Oreos. Mighty fine.

Good night, all.

Finished with my viewing.

A new movie.

Now that we have four offer letters going out to our new hires, we learned today that due to anticipated volume, we may be getting approval very shortly to hire 4 to 6 more folks. So... more rounds of interviews, perhaps.

I don't know much Cy Coleman, but I like The Greatest Showman better than anything I do know of his. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to hear they're making a stage musical out of it!

So, today I went to my sister's to (mostly) finish the catio!

Here's the whole thing:
-
You can sort of see the shelves on the sides and the box in the upper right.
-
There was also apposed to be a box on the upper left, but the window sticks out from the house and the box is supposed to be flush with the house, so we weren't able to put that one up.

Here's the right side with the cat scratch pad that hadn't been put up yet in the first picture:

And finally, here's the left side:

Still on page seven?
-
After three hours?
-
Not very sporting.
-
George showed up at the stroke of midnight.
-
I was still finishing up the notes.
-
But now I am here.
-
There can be no doubt about that.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They have pith.
-
They are twitchy and bitchy and manic.
-
As you will see when you read them.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Just in case there was any question.
-
And page eight has made its overdue entrance.
