Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a visit, and now it is time for you to post until the visiting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DRUTHERS!

Good morning, all.
-
Slept well. Weird dreams about being an extra in the golden age of Hollywood. As an extra, I was sometimes required to co-sign loans for the stars, but I wasn't supposed to work until the loan was paid off. On occasion, the loan would be almost paid off and I was so anxious to work I almost paid it myself. But I talked myself out of it because I would never get that money back.
-
I think I covered loans for Wallace Berry and Clark Gable. Berry was not good about repaying all of his loans.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I did not sleep well. Less than 5 hours.
-
Could not fall asleep.
-
I had a dream that I was cooking eggs in a pan, but someone else took them just as they were done.
-
I shudder to think.
-
Perhaps it is a message about my biological clock.
-
At any rate...
-
.
-
I don't drink coffee.
-
Just like I don't dance.
-
I wonder if I'd start dancing if I started drinking coffee?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. I had a long dream in which I worked for a huge corporation, and I was dealing with an application for some sort of grant. The applicant was the man whose foundation I worked for between 2009 and 2015.
-
DR singdaw, One Two Three was a film I somehow missed in the 1960s - college, maybe? - so I never saw it until maybe two or three years ago. BK is right. It's a wonderful, very funnty movie.
-
I'm back to "Rose's Turn" today. The original score is such a mess that readfing it is quite a chore.
-
A host of dreams amongst us last night. Something in the air here at HHW?
-
I'm back to "Rose's Turn" today. The original score is such a mess that readfing it is quite a chore.
Hold your hats and hallelujah.
-
BK, I am glad you had such a delightful visit with your DD.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Yes, dreams here, too. I had my old standard travel one, about trying to round up things I needed, and this one eventually centered on my daily pills. I finally located the two pills, and then there appeared another pill or two that were optional or something, but they weren't necessarily mine because my friend who's playing Mrs. Lovett was there and she seemed to be involved with the additional two - or was it three? - pill bottles. Oy! Who knows, who cares. It was definitely time to get the hell up.
-
A great day with the DD is always something to enjoy hearing about.

Good morning.

We have been very busy and I haven't caught up on yesterday's posts.

-
Arches National Park is incredible.
-
We couldn't get a timed pass until 3:00 when it was 96 degrees which turned out bebe OK as we weren't planning on hiking. The light changes at the end of the day were lovely.
-
Bruce, I enjoyed reading about your visit with your Darling Daughter.
-
Nice notes.
-
I also enjoyed DR JOHN G's article.
-
Another damp cool day here - which is fine with me.
-
Wonderful hearing about BK's visit with his Darling Daughter.

Congrats to DR MichaelG on your new status!

I have started listening to Kelly/Carole Bishop's autobiography. The first half is her Broadway career, including Golden Rainbow and Promises, Promises before A Chorus Line. Fun stuff.

The joke about Mayor Adams was sad, though funny. The whole scandal gives a feeling of NYC being on shaky ground.
-
"Rose's Turn" is a bitch! The full score often has two different orchestrations of the same material, the bar count between the full score - which seems to have been orchestrated in sections - and the vocal score is often 1-2 bars off, and God knows what's going on at times harmonically. On top of that, I've got Annabelle and stella wanting my attention. I had to take a break.

Thanks for sharing DR ELMORE.....indeed fascinating.
-
DR FREDDIE I really like your avatar.....in case I haven't said it before.
-
DR GINNY thanks for the link.
As an old cranky man, I forgot that SNL started its new season last night.
-
Sunday Sweet Sunday.
-
A theeder friend I talked to yesterday told me that she had never seen LES MIZ.....but that she saw it this week at the IU Auditorium.
I was astonished that as a theeder goer here & in NYC it was her first time to see it.
She was astounded and LOVED it.....as do so many of us.
-
Such a good day.
-
Of course as I said my Frances Farmer play seems to be on the trash heap.....but it was fun to have a reading in June and hear it out loud.
I have told Constance - the Artistic Director there if somebody says "OH hell....let's produce SOMETHING".....that she puts it forward. Being the good egg she is, I'm sure she will.
Certainly a highlight of 2024 for me.
-
DRAT! THE CAT!
-
Very excited for the new production....the BK production that will highlight it at it's best!

Thanks, Jrand.
It was the look I had when Walter Willison suggested (at dinner with BK and elmore, so there were witnesses to this) I try to get seen on places "like SNL" to potentially Susan Boyle. And BK and elmore had to explain to Walter that telling a guy he could play Susan Boyle would not necessarily be seen as a good thing. And Walter went on "But he could do it. Just little zhuzh with the hair, you wouldn't even need a wig." (I'm paraphrasing.) :). Walter was definitely trying to be helpful.
-
LOL.....interesting DR FREDDIE. I just see a very handsome man.

I am exploring becoming part of a postcard writing group to persuade people to vote in the upcoming election.
However, in this particular action, the minimum required commitment is 200 postcards, and you supply the postage. So an investment of cash and time.
But it is very important.

I thanked my sister and her husband for the gift of the movies. I have some binge watching to do.
-
Byt first there’s another John Huston novel adaptation leaving Kanopy this month. Watching Casino Royale, which I have somehow missed all these years.

I'm up, I'm up - I was up once during the early morning hours, at four-thirty - went back to sleep at six or so and slept until noon, so probably seven and a half hours of sleep.

Maybe that's a good thing.

Food has been ordered from Daughter's Deli via a 40% off thing from Uber Eats for three orders. Today I'll be having the Turkey Papa - the turkey version of the pastrami - so turkey, Swiss cheese, coleslaw, and 1000-Island dressing. It's a very nice sandwich and light, calorie-wise. For the side, it's cucumber salad. If I need a snack later, I have some wheat thins here.

I still don't understand what the orchestras have been playing for all these Gypsy revivals here and overseas and everywhere for the past thirty years?
What they play is what Tams-Witmark, now Concord Theatricals, leased to them for GYPSY.
For instance, the reed doubles in a lot of shows are simplified for the national tour; in the case of BYE BYE BIRDIE, the leased orchestrations were done by Phil Lang and not Robert Ginzler's originals; in the case of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED . . ., for the national tour, the violas were rewritten for violins and the number of reeds was reduced. ONCE UPON A MATTRESS opened off-Broadway at the Phoenix Theater with an orchestra of 19; when it transferred to Broadway, they added seven more players to meet the union minimum, else they would have to pay seven walkers to do nothing but draw a weekly check. We think - not certain - that the harp part for WHERE'S CHARLEY was droppped from the tour; we do know the reed doubles for the show were simplified.
So, when John Yap's complete recordings claim to be "original orchestrations," they sometimes are not because he records the orchestrea parts provided by the leasor of whatrever show he's recording.

Now we are relaxing in our hotel room before we go to dinner.

Keith is working on the photos for Facebook.

Or am I thinking of the wrong CASINO ROYALE?
The one with everyone from David Niven to Woody Allen. I liked the George Raft cameo and a very young Jacky Bisset, as she was billrd. Deborah Kerr was also game.

but I don't recall that I've ever made it all the way through the movie.

How about favorite Yogi Berra sayings to get closer to page 6?

"It's deja vu all over again."

• "Always go to other people's funerals. Otherwise, they won't come to yours."
-
• On economics: "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."
-
• "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
-
• "He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious."
-
• On his hitting approach: "I can't think and hit at the same time."
-
• "I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did."
-
"I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4."
-

-
• "The future ain't what it used to be."
-
• On lining up for a Spring Training drill: "Pair 'em up in threes."
-
• "Never answer an anonymous letter."
-
• "I wish I had an answer to that, because I'm tired of answering that question."
-
Watching an A&E bio of Kris Kristofferson. It’s short but very informative.
-
• "If people don't want to come to the ballpark, how are you going to stop them?"

Good evening.

It's been a long, been a long, been a long, been a long day!
-
I was in charge of pre-church refreshments today, so I began at 4 a.m. I made cinnamon rolls, pumpkin scones, and apple muffins.
-
Then after church Daughter and I picked up a few things I need for a meeting I am hosting this week. The topic is international travel, so of course, I'm trying to have treats from around the world.

Dinner tonight was leftover Chinese takeout.
-
They do. There were a few scones leftover, which I'll put out for the UK part of the food this week.
-
I told the minister to please not eat them.
-
My DIL is going to make something from the Philippines, and the minister's wife is going to bring one of her mother's recipes from a tiny island in the Pacific.

My daughter made tabouli today, while I made some hummus.
-
I bought some Tim-Tams and some macarons. And plantain chips.
-
I'll bake some stuff tomorrow and Tuesday.
-
It's 7 p.m. here, and I am ready to go to bed.

I think I have run my dishwasher 3 times already, and I will run it again first thing in the morning.

Have we heard from DR Ron P recently?
-
I enjoyed BK’s tale of pizza and memories with DD.
-
My mom will reminisce about my late dad with me (they divorced in the 1980s), but her recollections will always veer into making him look bad. Her unreliable narration I can usually sort out for events when I was alive, but trying to learn about things from before I was born is a fraught experience as one tries to separate her bitter slant on things from the truth.
-
All of which is to say, who knows, BK? You may be better of with an ex who clams up than one who tells tall tales.
-
I directed the Tams “Where’s Charley?” once and helped win my sad little theater co an OOBR Award in the process, thank you very much.

Well, this is sad news:
Yelloh, formerly known as Schwan's Home Delivery, permanently closing frozen food deliveries (https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2024/09/24/yelloh-schwans-closing-food-delivery/75361514007/)
It's been a couple of years since I'd ordered from them, but still I really liked some of their products. :-\
-
I have arrived.
-
I have basically slept for most of the day and evening.
-
Currently having my evening snack of popcorn.
-
Notes are written.
-
It's just me and one GUEST.
-
George is probably off eating a burrito.
-
I'll finish the motion picture I'm watching as soon as I post the notes.
-
I have discovered that I cannot do what the Romans do, as I've never been in Rome. What do those nasty Romans do anyway?
-
Do they eat snails and oysters?
-
Plenty of time to get to page nine.
-
It would be a breeze if George were here, but noooo, he and his jam are elsewhere.
-
How many here have been to Peoria?
-
I have never been to Peoria. Or Rome. If I'd been to the former, I'd do what the Peorians did.
-
I have been to page eight.
-
Which we're still on.
-
Almost finished with popcorn.
-
Very interesting bits of tid from elmore.
-
And still, page eight.
-
I love the music I'm listening to.
-
I talk about it in the notes.
-
I really do.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
I think so.
-
See?
-
George is probably off eating a burrito.
No, tonight I had a mini frozen pizza that I got from my mom, who got them from WinCo. Simple, but quite delish.
-
It would be a breeze if George were here, but noooo, he and his jam are elsewhere.
I came home from my mom's this evening, then put away the stuff that she gave me, then I lay down for a bit and promptly fell asleep. ::)
-
But I'm awake now. 8)
-
How many here have been to Peoria?
Include me out of those have Peoriaed.
-
Back from a brief diversion.
-
It was diverting.
-
I was diverted and then I diverged.
-
And diversified.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now they can be read with great fervor.
-
We can never have enough great fervor.
