Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a Bruce excuse, and now it is time for you to post until the filled with excuses cows come home.

And the word of the day is: GUMBO!

Love that bookshelf, DR George!!!! :)

Good morning, friends.

And others.
-
Another cool, crisp day so far.
-
Great for those running the marathon.
-
Which I am not.

Who decides these things?

I see that John Y is disparaging DR elmore3003 publicly on FB over Jubilee.

Good morning, all.

Love that bookshelf, DR George!!!! :)
Very nice.

Playing bells this morning

Must rise and ring.
-
Good morning, all!

I slept fine until 1:30 or so when my6 legs decided to make my life unbearable. Around 3:00 I took a tizanidine tablet, and that finally let me sleep sometime after 4. At 6:00 the alarm rang, and I cuddled with Thatch and Annabelle for another 75 minutes. I am now moving very cautiously about.

I see that John Y is disparaging DR elmore3003 publicly on FB over Jubilee.
I'm not surprised, but I never see his posts since he blocked me several years ago.

If Mozart had composed an opera on Cinderella, he could have called it "Mozzarella."

Good morning, all.

Well, it's Sunday the 6th, the day I go to see Safety Last ... for real, this time. No mistakes.
-
Sunday yet again.
It was one week ago today, a 5:59 p.m., that my power -- which had been out since 5 a.m. Friday before, was restored to me.
I was thrilled, of course, and have remained so, but fear it is not roses for many folks in this area. Some power sources were obliterated and new infrastructure needed building. Much of it isnearly finished, but not quite yet.
-
My favorite M. Night Shyamalan films are "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable" and "Signs". Each offers very strong performances, interesting stories and fine production values.
Some disagree about the merits of a couple of them, but I don't care. I disagree about the merits of a lot of stuff folks think is brilliant.
I can give such things credit for what they are, but cannot force myself to be engrossed by them.

Yes, loved George's most excellent shelf of books by a certain author in last night's posts!

Since twists in M. Night Shyamalan films are referred to in the Notes, my "Ask BK" or anybody else question:
Has anyone else here watched the first episode of the new MATLOCK (2024 version) series starring Kathy Bates, Beau Bridges and Jason Ritter?
-
I'm reminded looking back that the reviews of the first episode do refer to a twist ending, suggesting that the fact that the episode ends with a twist was not a spoiler, though as to the nature of the twist, the reviews seem very careful not to suggest what the twist is.
This review seems to be an exception, the article at the link detailing the spoilers in the first episode, and really analyzing the twist in detail
https://movieweb.com/matlocks-first-episode-twist-explained/
POSSIBLE SPOILER CAPTION IN THAT REVIEW
"Matlock Is a Psychological Thriller Disguised as a Legal Drama"
-
So as in movies like THE SIXTH SENSE, the makers of the debut MATLOCK (2024 version) episode seems delighted that the viewer know there will be a twist just before the end, that maybe it will provide an incentive to watch.
-
They debuted the episode of MATLOCK (2024 version) weeks before they intend to start showing the run of the show (the second episode won't be on until October 17) - which seems unusual.

Have fun!
-
DR FREDDIE I was hesitant about the new MATLOCK right up until the last scene....and now it is on my list just to see what will happen and how.....
-
Thanks DR FREDDIE & DR JANE. I don't think my great niece has any future plans right now.....she just got her driver's license. She is an only child with all that entails.
The party was grand - my nephew and his wife throw the BEST parties. Lots of people I didn't know.....but at one point three of my brothers and myself were sitting on the couch together. I think someone got a picture. One brother & one sister were missing.
-
The NBA and NHL and college basketball seasons will be starting soon.
I say - BRING'EM ON!
-
My sister Molly and I enjoyed LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN last night.
DR GEORGE hookup those speakers! The difference even with a 25-year-old system was amazing.
-
Today I am going to play a CD through the system and see how it sounds.
-
I shall also tell, later today.....my story of the mystery LPs.

That'll have me checking back more often to find out that story!
Could help the page-view total.

Finished the Brigitte Bardot movie. Typical Roger Vadim nonsense, but Bardot was most winning. And totally nude behind a heavily vaseline’d lens.
Fun score with an odd version of La Bamba.
-
Love that bookshelf, DR George!!!! :)
Thanks, Singdaw!

I'm up, I'm up - another rough night - don't understand it, really. Not more than three hours of sleep.

I'm zonked.

John Yap blocked me, too.

He's never been a member here. I would never let him on here.

Greetings from the Bedford Playhouse.
Early. But it’s a beautiful fall weekend, everyone is out, and traffic is crazy. I take no chances.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! As if radiation fatigue weren’t enough, Richard and I had flu and Covid vaccines on Friday. We were both pretty useless yesterday, but today we’ve managed to get ourselves showered and dressed in time for the Bengals’ 1pm kickoff.
-
To extend DR Laura’s election/colonoscopy analogy: The preparation is disgusting.
I will be so glad to be rid of the political ads on TV.
-
Energy vibes for Ginny and Richard!
-
Thanks, DR Rodzinski!
-
Energy vibes for Ginny and Richard!
I'll second that.
-
Onward!
-
Three!
-
I have a jar filled with dried currants, apricots, cherries and cranberries soaking. I can make the Christmas cake tomorrow.
-
Energy vibes for Ginny and Richard!
I'll second that.
Thank you, DR John G!

Reserve the liaisons for use later.

Happy first Sunday of October! On the new Broadway Radio Show, author and theatre historian Mark Robinson is back to chat about Broadway musical flops from the first decade of the 21st Century including Taboo, The Wild Party, Cry-Baby, and more!

I just donated $10 to the Harris/Walz campaign.
Every little bit helps, I hope.

Vibes for DR GINNY & RICHARD.
That was quite a Michigan game yesterday!
-
I am listening to some LPs....in anticipation of my monumental HHW post.
-
It is 82 degrees here now.
The AC is running.
And it is comfortable for the pair of keets and I.
-
We are very close to a page turn.
-
Happy to oblige.
-
PAGE FOUR.
-
I am listening to some LPs....in anticipation of my monumental HHW post.
Will it be an exclusive?
-
I decided to start John Huston’s The Bible … In the Beginning. It’s 3 hours long and is definitely a Dino DeLaurentiis production. Filming in Italy and the studio. Badly dubbed actors, but there are good moments in the rubble, like the crow that perches on Noah’s (Huston’s) head.
I can’t watch it all the way through, though. Am taking it one story at a time.
-
I, too, await the epic HHW post from DR Jrand74.
Will there be additional supplementary features for us early subscribers?
-
Yes great book photo DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand.
-
So far today I have had one nap and one reading in bed session.
-
But the day is still young.
-
I like your agenda, Singdaw..
-
Gratuitous post 99!
-
Awe-inspiring post 100!
-
LOL.
DR FREDDIE and DR CHAS SMITH my post has been postponed until possibly tomorrow because of the extent and the "importance" of my discoveries.
Time will tell.
I will give a preview with the name.....Clabenoff.
And this link.

Hmm, that may be difficult. Well, I just can't wait. :)

Both in one day? Sounds exhausting!

So do I!

Vibes for DR GINNY & RICHARD.
That was quite a Michigan game yesterday!
Thanks for the vibes, DR JRand.
Today’s Bengals’ game wasn’t much better than yesterday’s Michigan game >:(
-
Indeed.
-
I am TIRED.
-
Had some Popeye's for food. Pretty good.
-
Worked at the piano a bit.
-
They keep saying the heat will abate and yet it does not abate.
-
Today they're saying there'll be some relief this week.
-
And why does this NOT seem like a Sunday?
-
Seems like a damn Monday.
-
Perhaps Monday will seem like Sunday.
-
Today they're saying there'll be some relief this week.
We also need some relief from page 4.
-
That might be easier than relief from the weather.
-
I can almost see page 5 from here.
-
Page Five!
-
PAGE FIVE HAND JIVE DANCE!!!
-
Watched Unbreakable today, along with Tea with the Dames. Neither of which I had seen before.
-
And yet, here we sit on page five.
-
I guess I could have made that two posts.
-
One per movie.
-
We had popcorn tonight.
-
Just thought I'd throw that in there.
-
We sprinkled it with some nutritional yeast, and it was good.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good evening.
-
Thank you for the lettuce tip, DR Laura.
-
I loved Unbreakable, which I saw in the theater the first year I lived in Texas.
-
I don’t see enough movies in the theater anymore.
-
Anybody going to see that jukebox musical, Joker: Folie a Deux?
-
I got word tonight that I will be working every day of early voting. That’s 15 days straight and for 13 hours a day. I hope I have the stamina.
-

I didn't realize it was an actual musical until reading the reviews.

Did you have a choice to take a lighter schedule?

Good to know so we don't stop watching mid way.

Not really.

Now that we are in Vegas and socializing, have to remind myself to check my text messages as I might actually want to read them ;D

I have a jar filled with dried currants, apricots, cherries and cranberries soaking. I can make the Christmas cake tomorrow.
Yum.

Yes a nice new avatar from DR DONALD.
I agree.

Starting a costume drama from the silent era: Annie Laurie. Lilian Gish stars in a tale of love against the backdrop of war between the Campbells and the MacDonalds. In other words, it's soup versus burgers.
-
May the best meal win.
-
I just donated $10 to the Harris/Walz campaign.
Every little bit helps, I hope.
Absolutely.
-
Robert Israel has created a lovely score using Scottish ballads like Annie Laurie, and he has a full orchestra.
-
Six!

DR Ginny, vibes your energy begins to return soon.
-
I don’t see enough movies in the theater anymore.
The last movie I saw in a theater was last year's Oppenheimer. :-\
-
Anybody going to see that jukebox musical, Joker: Folie a Deux?
I haven't, but I kind wanna see it. I didn't see the first one, so I don't know if I would need to see it first.
-

Hopefully, you can get a bathroom break whenever you need it!

It's been a long day. Only two naps.
-
I shall miss those.
-
Good night, all.
-
'night
-
Yesterday I had time to kill while the boy was in climbing class. I wanted to try the Filipino fried chicken chain, Jollibee. But I couldn’t find easy parking.
-
So I found a Church’s, which I always liked, but figured I was settling. Well, I had 3 of the biggest, juiciest, crispiest thighs ever. Twas a delight.
-
There used to be a sad Church’s in a sad food court off Times Square near my old home, but it was never as good as this.
-
Went to the aquarium in Vancouver today. Swimming creatures did abound.
-
Today, I started sorting my musicals on CD.
-
I got one section of shelves filled with just cast recordings, but they're not sorted alphabetically, yet:
-
That third shelf down with the gap has CD-Rs and ootleg-bay recordings on the left. ::)
;)
-
And the right side of that shelf has the few recordings with larger than normal CD cases that I've come across so far.
-
I need to bring down many, Many, MANY (that's three manys) CD from upstairs.
-
I have three more shelf sections to use, but I think I'll also need to get more shelves and so that I can have 10 (or maybe 11) shelves per unit.
-
We'll see. :)
-
On the second shelf unit to the right (Ever to the right...a 1776 reference ;) ), I have one shelf with a few operas and other classical music.
-
I also have one shelf of recorded plays and radio programs, such as BK's recording of Copenhagen, and the complete Hitchhiker's to the Galaxy series.
-
Here is the shelf of operas (so far):
-
And the shelf of recorded plays/radio programs:
-
And I also have the BK-recorded Beyond Therapy :)
-
PAGE [REDACTED] DANCE!! ;)
-
I also found my three Harvey Milk recordings and can finally put them together.
-
The page that shall not be named? Really?
-
And barely.
-
I am not in fine fettle, I'm afraid.
-
I am not even in fettle.
-
I feel yucky.
-
And sucky.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They speak volumes.
-
One HM recording is the opera by Stewart Wallace and Michael Korie called Harvey Milk: An Opera in 3 Acts (https://www.amazon.com/Harvey-Milk-Stewart-Wallace/dp/B000000S9Q/).
-
I, on the other hand, speak English.
-
Wow, I'm heading toward a nice new posting number.
-
Not tonight, Josephine.
-
Must take a hot shower.
-
Hopefully, that will help me sleep.
-
Another recording is The Harvey Milk Show (https://www.amazon.com/Harvey-Milk-Show-Patrick-Hutchison/dp/B000WKHO9S/) by Patrick Hutchison and Dan Pruitt.

Gratuitous Post #201!!
