Well, you've read the notes, the notes seemed to have gotten much more than twelve hours of sleep, and now it is time for you to post until the late cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MARVEL!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
I wondered if the new page would go up, and I guess it just did!
-
My only news is that last night I began to watch the series Suits on Netflix. I never saw it when it originally ran. I watch the pilot and first episode of Season 1. I liked it very much.
-
Everyone who has watched Suits that I know of likes it.
-
I do not care for Page One - oh wait.
-
One of these days I will try it.
-
I just woke from a nap and, look, a new day.
-
Everyone who has watched Suits that I know of likes it.
Some chatters online behave as if Meghan Markle hadn't made much of an impression on the show, but that's to people who didn't watch the show. To SUITS fans, she was not a nobody before meeting Prince Harry.
-
Life will be frozen peaches and cream.
Baby, dream your dream.
-
I've had that Dorothy Fields lyric playing in my head for awhile now.
-
I love that song.

What song or earworm is currently spinning in your brain?

"Can't we be friends?"

Notes reviewed. Skewed.

Right now, from really looking today at the actual lawsuit and lots of articles about the play "Stereophonic" being sued by the Fleetwood Mac recording engineer/producer - The Fleetwood Mac song "Go Your Own Way" keeps popping up in my mind every time something mentions the relationship between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. I'm especially intrigued by the (new to me) mentions that the famous guitar section was created in the studio by overlaying tracks, and the group then, after the fact, learned to approximate that in live performance.

I really enjoyed that show...much male eye candy...for those who care for such things. ;)

Exactly!
-
Good afternoon.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Page one? Really?
-
Went to mail place.
-
Had Popeye's.
-
Did some work.
-
There were 11 pages "yesterday"
If we get to page 4 "today"- that will be the same as averaging getting past page 7 for two days.
It's the New math.
-
Is there gaslighting going on? Where is Ingrid Bergman? Where is Angela Lansbury?
-
Are they on Page Two?
-
Maybe not, but we're on page 2!

Here's the actual lawsuit against the play STEREOPHONIC in a pdf. The plaintiff lays out the claim
https://fingfx.thomsonreuters.com/gfx/legaldocs/gkvlbmqgjvb/STEREOPHONIC%20COPYRIGHT%20LAWSUIT%20complaint.pdf
-
The very specific examples the plaintiff cites seem to be of the plaintiff's book quoting - nearly verbatim - real-life events that could be described as music history assuming the plaintiff is reporting conversations and events that REALLY happened
-
as opposed to the plaintiff's interpretation of the real-life events
-
So is the plaintiff in effect claiming that David Adjmi used pieces of real-life music history, which the plaintiff was just describing?
-
Is this that far off than the use of the lives of the Supremes and tweaking to create "Dreamgirls" -
-
or maybe using elements of the life of June Havoc and tweaking in creating "Gypsy"
-
Can I fill up a page with these musings?
-
It's POSSIBLE that even without infringing copyright, it could turn out that David Adjmi the STEREOPHONIC playwright is not as inventive as everyone thought he was, yet was using events that really happened (rather than events the plaintiff Fleetwood Mac's music producer invented)
-
Your honor, I object.
Just felt like saying that.
-
Pweition for summery judgment, since it's past summer already.
-
I gather that as big a hit as STEREOPHONIC has been so far, they've (whomever "they've" are) may have opted to close in January.
-
This must be some rollercoaster for those investors, who must have thought they had a proverbial license to print money.
-
Thanks for sharing that. The specificity of details as outlined in that lawsuit are not commonly known rock history. The playwright in my eye lifted things wholesale from the book.
-
Home Sweet Home!

I don't understand why people comment on shows they have never watched.
-
I enjoyed the show though we stopped watching it after a couple of seasons. Yes, Markle was good in it.
-
Page one? Really?
Don't blame me!
-

Here's my theory: They might not have been commonly known before the memoir was published, but the plaintiff was reporting them as fact, as if those exact words were said, putting them in quotes.
So didn't they become part of "music history" the day the memoir hit the bookstore?
If, for example, one of the musicians in real life tried to choke the music producer, that choking is part of music history, it would seem.
The plaintiff (the music director) was representing them as facts.
-
Hmm, that should have been at least four posts.
-
Page one? Really?
Don't blame me!
LOL. I don't.
-
On our flight home we had a lovely view of Crater Lake.

Guess what Keith is going to make tonight :)
-
I bet it will be easy to guess.
-
Yup, popcorn.

:)
-
I should go upack and sort the dirty clothes.

Guess what Keith is going to make tonight :)
Penguin Salad!
-
Yup, popcorn.
Oh.
-
I was sitting in a waiting room today, and a news station was on television. Good Lord! All the political ads! Makes me glad I don't have a television.
-
Could it really be possible that for the 35 years before the memoir, no one besides the seven or eight people in the recording studio knew that Mr. Buckingham tried to choke the music producer/engineer?
Or that for the 35 years before the memoir, no one besides the seven or eight people in the recording studio knew about Christine McVie asking, indeed demanding in no uncertain terms, that the engineer give his producer-type input?
I don't quite follow how the plaintiff, who was only one of seven or eight people in the recording studio, can claim to own real-life facts.
-
If it was just the choking, that would be one thing. Did you read the full bits of dialogue the guy used unabashedly? And he admits to reading the book while at the same time claiming the play isn’t really based on Fleetwood Mac at all but his own invention. Pretty suspect to me.
-
These posts of mine really should have been divided into more posts. I take the blame for them not filling up more pages. :)
-

Certainly, some of Adjmi's statements sound suspect.
-
Just quoting this from the legal brief to refer to it:
"From Making Rumours:
On the second pass of the recording of “Oh, Daddy,” Christine stopped playing. “Did you like that tempo or was the first better?” She looked directly into the control room at Richard and me.
Neither of us was prepared to answer her. We were completely focused on trying to get “Oh, Daddy” to sound great, not on doing what producers do.
Instead of keeping quiet, as I usually did, I said, “Why don’t you come in here and listen to both takes? Then you can decide”
“We don’t want to have to come in and listen every time we try out something different,” Christine said firmly. “We want you
guys to start paying attention to tempos and keys and tuning and other important things and help us out here.” Her comments clicked with the band, and Richard and I understood them, too.
“Okay. We get it,” I said. “We’ll start keeping track of that.’”
---------------
If the memoir author is claiming these are the exact words that he and Christine McVie said, aren't those words actual facts?
-
I guess I don't follow how the producer/plaintiff can own facts.
Maybe the result will be a settlement where the producer/plaintiff gets a percentage?
-
Guess what Keith is going to make tonight :)
Penguin Salad!
;D

Project 2025 targets the porn industry. Now porn stars are fighting back and are doing political ads against Trump and the Rethuglicans. Someone with the great handle of @PettyLupone is spreading the word.

That is terrible news, DR vixmom.

Maybe you can win the lottery and replace it.
-
I see that they're raising the price of MegaMillions tickets to $5 a piece.
-
I don't know what they are now, but I have a feeling that's a huge percentage increase.
-
144,000! Oh happy day, as the Edwin Hawkins Singers once sang.

Please win the lottery, Vixmom.

I'm feeling particularly lethargic.

I can't even get myself psyched to go outback to look at the meteor shower.
-
So I guess you're not going to Outback, either?
-
Can a bloomin' blossom entice ya?

It's still Taco Tuesday in some parts.
-
Boo!

OK, that's it for me.

Good night, friends.

And others.

I guess I don't follow how the producer/plaintiff can own facts.

They don't. The facts are that Fleetwood Mac made a mega-successful album in Rumours amid conflicts. Making Rumours is one person's interpretation of these long ago events, cast as the producer's story.
Two recent dramatic works have been inspired by this: Stereophonic and Daisy Jones and The Six. Nobody is suing anyone involved with Daisy Jones because while it's clearly inspired by Fleetwood Mac making Rumours, it's not telling that story. Even when you can clearly identify which characters are inspired by which band members, the story is different. The relationships are different, the story arcs are different, and the details are different.
Stereophonic on the other hand appears to tell the producer's story in the same way as Making Rumours, with the same relationships, the same point of view perspective, the same story arc, and many of the same key details.
-
I've read and watched Daisy Jones and The Six but I've neither seen nor listened to Stereophonic, hence my hedging on that one.
-
I agree, Michael G

Making this tomorrow. Sounds intriguing.
-
Time for bed.
-
Good night, all
-
You can’t lift facts close to word for word without attribution. That’s plagiarism. The major facts of Fleetwood Mac are well-known. It appears the play’s author lifted very specific minor facts right out of the book on a way that, to my eye, seems legitimately suspect.
Screenplays based on real events still cite books they were based on.
-
Who knows how it will play out though?
-
Page 6 would be quite a feat after our late start today.
-
10222 was my last post.
-
Just sayin’
-
Well, we did make page five.
-
If I'd closed the topic last night, we'd be on page eight.
-
But why cry over spilled milk.
-
Or, as Benjamin Kritzer said, "What? What? I LAUGH over spilled milk!"
-
I do feel page six might be lurking in the wings.
-
Wouldn't that a bit of all right.
-
Home Sweet Home!
Welcome home, Jane (and Keith)!
-
Even all left.
-
And page six has made its entrance to tumultuous applause.
-
What a coinkydink! I just got home, too!
-
I wonder if it's possible to get to the page that shall not be named?
-
But I just got back from a rehearsal in Tumwater. :)
-
Perhaps George will contribute his contribution.
-
We shall see.

Because they can...even though they shouldn't. ::)

Meanwhile, I'll finish writing some notes.

Good for them! I mean, good for the porn stars that are fighting back and doing political ads against Trump and the Rethuglicans, NOT Project 2025 targeting the porn industry! ;D
-
Crater Lake one of the all-time mindblowing sights I’ve seen.
-
Why moo over spilled milk?
-
Why cry over spilled milk?
Because it was boiling and I spilled it on my bare feet.
-
Then I discovered apple cinnamon ice cream at the store.
What a coinkydink again! Tonight, the director brought apple cinnamon muffin tops to share. Those were quite yumilicious!
-
We used to get this warning from old people: Sing at the table, cry in your sleep.
-
Not sure what problem that warning was meant to solve.
-
See? And here's the new number - someone screen shot it.
Congrats on the momentous millstone, BK!!
-
Was singing at the table a real problem?
-
G is catching up. I will say hello to him here.

Ann Mortifee is an unknown, underrated singer/songwriter I’ve found in the cheapie bins of the Canadian west.

Jimmie Spheeris should have gotten more recognition. The late brother of Penelope. Killed by a drunk driver in LA.

Kenny Young wrote “Under the Boardwalk” and a bunch of other good stuff, moved to England, formed a band, kinda disappeared. But his “Ai no corrida” was big for Quincy Jones et al.

Taco had a big hit with Puttin’ on the Ritz in the ‘80s, but he did not write that, oh no indeed.

Hope that hurricane is not as bad as they fear.

I’m gonna need to turn up the heat here the next couple days.

Will people of the future realize just how busy a posting day this really was?

G is catching up. I will say hello to him here.
And I shall reply hello here. :)
Hello there!
-
Do you think they pour concrete in Crete?
-
Do you think they have beds in New Bedford?
-
George has disappeared - must be burrito time.
-
He went to Bedford.
-
And is in either bed or a Ford.
-
Certainly he isn't here.
-
He should be.
-
However, I'm feeling we might see page eight before new notes go up.
-
Is that a pipe dream?
-
Cretins live in Crete.
-
A cigar dream?
-
A cigarette dream?
-
So near to 8.
-
Do you think there's a van in Van Nuys.
-
I always thought a pipe dream had something to do with plumbing.
-
I see eight is waiting in the wings.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Page eight has made its entrance.
-
Van Johnson was a Nuys guy.
-
Oh dear.
-
Do you think there are any banks in Burbank?
-
George isn't even making a pretense of being in the room where it happens.
-
He went to Bedford.
Better than Pottersville. ;D
-
George isn't even making a pretense of being in the room where it happens.
I got distracted. ::)
-
Is that a pipe dream?
That's one of the three "forgotten" Rodgers & Hammerstein shows. ;)
-
Who put the ape in ape-ricot??
-
Tonight, we ran act two twice.
-
We worked a couple of scenes, including the fight.
-
It only lasts a couple of seconds, but it needed to be worked a few times.
-
Oh! One CD that I found a couple of days ago while putting my CDs on my downstairs shelves was Betty Buckley's self-titled very first CD, originally released in 1986. :)
-
New notes are up.
-
THEN, I found the 15 year anniversary re-release with three, count 'em, THREE bonus tracks!
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I don't think they've been together since before I moved into my condo.
-
I will say that they both look practically brand new. :D
