Well, you've read the notes, the notes were eight topsy or turvy, and now it is time for you to post until the topsy-turvy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FANTABULOUS!

Guess I'll go to bed shortly.

Why not?

Good morning, all!

Yesterday was a strange one, thanks to two muscle relaxers. After getting home from my doctor's appointment, I was lethargic and myt legs were yelling "No More Walking Today!" As soon as the cats had their early evening treat, I went to bed and watched three more episodes of Suits. At 8:00 I turned off the lights and slept very well for 9.5 hours. The cats behaved, so I was very pleased.
-
I am on to season 2 of Suits, which I really like. Meghan Markle is quite good, not at all like her post-narriage holier-than-thou royal family persona.
-
DR Laura, you mentioned election fatigue in yesterday's posts. I am so sick of political emails that I did an experioment. Yesterday, in the past 24 hours, I received 432 emails, and I estmate that only 10% of them were non-political.
-
Good morning, all.

I took am swamped with political emails.

But you may dine on gumbo whilst perusing page seven.

I don't think anyone would object to that.

Good morning, all.

This was one of those sleeps that, afterwards, for whatever reason, I feel like the proverbial truck ran over me.
-
Stupid ass crazy dreams, a li’l sneezing fit, the whole bit.

I’d enjoy seeing a fun melodrama, the likes of which BK talks about.

TOD:
Cyrano de Bergerac
I love this play, and I would never consider it a melodrama. And that's my two cents.

Does Deathtrap count as a melodrama?
-
My dad acted in a fun melodrama in our town playhouse when I was a kid. “Dirty Work at the Crossroads.” Have never heard of it being performed since.
-
I remember they needed a tree stump for the set, and my hillbilly friend’s dad made his money cutting firewood, probably illegally. Dad asked, and the guy supplied a big stump and came to see probably his first and only theatrical production outside of the Grand Ol Opry. He loved the show and was so proud to see his name in the program.
-
I recall I think my dad sang a song called “I Saw Esau.”
-
Not to be confused with “I Still See Elisa.”
-
Or TWO FOR THE ESAU?

I don't get political emails. I have only received one political text. But I'm so sick of the ads on Youtube.

I’m heading into the city in a couple of hours to meet a couple of friends for dinner and then go to see a show at Irving Plaza.

It’s a rock show, I have no idea who the headliner is but my friends and I have a friend in the support act so we’re going for their sake

Jeff Arcuri was not funny. After five minutes of jokes mocking gays and dropping f-bombs left and right, I excused myself.
Oh my. Did the audience think he was funny?

I don't get political emails. I have only received one political text. But I'm so sick of the ads on Youtube.
WOW! I rarely watch Youtube so I don't see the adds. While I get plenty of emails, I mostly receive texts.
-
I hope I don’t kill them.

Three!

I suspect many of the texts I receive are not legitimate.

LOL. Since Keith is the first name on our account my phone is also in his name, therefore I receive an equal amount of texts as he does.
-
How did "they"get your email address?
I'm sure my email address is due to signing petitions. I don't have an outrageous number of emails and do not find them distruptive as the constant texts that beep in my ears through my hearing aids.
-
Keith has been the one to make donations and probably receives more emails than I do.

Starting the second season of The Gilded Age. Broadway stars fill every corner but it somehow feels like a museum piece. Audra! Donna! Nathan! I have read the writing gets better, but the first episode is cliched and dull.

Cyrano de Bergerac
I love this play, and I would never consider it a melodrama. And that's my two cents.
A romance? I guess I considered it melodrama strictly because of the ending. I could be wrong.
I think BK is thinking of melodrama as the type of drammer with moustached-twirling, cape-wearing villains, virginal heroines, and ardent suitors you'd find on Captain Andy's Show Boat or Dudley Do-Right cartoons.
I believe the Comedie Francaise would consider Cyrano de Bergerac to be up there with Shakespeare, Racine, or Moliere.
-

Then, except for the scenes in Show Boat, I haven't seen any melodrammers on stage. And,yes, Cyrano is one of the all-time greats.

DR elmore3003,. have you seen that folks on CASTRECL are wondering about the work you did on Life Begins at 8:40?

A day of nothing but "me" as I've slept late, putzed around, gotten mail, watched two (count 'em) two college football games (Clemson vs Wake Forest and South Carolina vs. Alabama) Clemson won handily. South Carolina lost by a point.
Something I failed to relate in my post-doctor visit yesterday:
I stopped at CostCo. It was to be my first visit since November of last year. My first thought was that the parking lot was crazy crowded, but I got a good parking space.
As I approached the entry, loads of folks were entering and exiting, including women carrying babies trailed by their kiddies, lots of people with carts blocking the entrance and me finding NO CARTS AVAILABLE.
A look inside showed bedlam/craziness. I was scratching my head all the way back to my car after giving up on shopping...WHAT the heck was going on?
It soon came to me: It was Friday; it was the first payday many folks had seen since Helene had struck; and many folks had gotten their FEMA checks for $750.
Oh, well.
-
Ron P, have you ever tried ordering online and getting delivery from Costco?
-
To be this close to page 4 and not just get there already would be a shame.

Happy Birthday, Leonard!
You were looking at Leonard's photo and thinking it was his birthday.
-
The Gilded Age has helped me appreciate the genius of Edith Wharton more than ever. She can't easily be copied, and the series does a sloppy job of it. It's better when it doesn't try to be Edith for a new generation. You can't top Dickens, Eliot, Austen or Wharton (and so many others).

Happy birthday, Leonard!

John G, does your neck hurt when you're dancing?
-
No. Thank goodness.
-
My day after food. Worked at the piano.
-
Had a long telephonic conversation.
-
A fly got in the house but was hyperactive and I could do nothing to find it.
-
At three, I began watching Maigret. At 3:01 I was asleep for two minutes. This routine went on for the next fifteen minutes and I'd seen three minutes of those fifteen minutes and had no idea what was going on. I paused it and continued to doze and wake up every five minutes. This went on until four.
-
At four, I plopped down on the bed, fell asleep instantly, and got up at seven.
-
I wanted and ordered a slice of cheesecake.
-
The fly was being very intrusive and would not land anywhere.
-
The cheesecake got here at eight-thirty. I looked at the fork I'd used for lunch. On it was the fly. A moment later the fly was mort. A perfect hit.
-
And here I sit, slowly eating the coconut pie cheesecake. I may save some for later.
-
I'm still going to try and watch Maigret.

Page six.

-
It was really good...for the most part
-
A few times, the mics didn't come on quickly enough when a few people entered, and a couple of times the singers weren't in sync with the orchestra...but only a couple of times.
-
It was a fully staged, costumed and propped concert version.
-
The Olympia Symphony Orchestra was on stage the whole time, as were the dozen or so Masterworks Choral Ensemble members.
-
Otherwise, there was a 30-piece orchestra, including a harp.
-
The opening prelude was played on the Washington Center's Andy Crow Memorial Wurlitzer Organ and it was wonderful.
-
And aside from all the named roles (including the child whose father doesn't get his throat slashed), there were eight ensemble members, and not a weak one in the bunch.
-
There were some other little nitpicks not worth mentioning (or remembering), but overall, it was a grand (Guignol ;) ) evening that was enjoyed by all.
-
They got a deserved standing O.
-
And then tomorrow, I get to see it again! :D
-
I'm really glad I get to see it for free.
-
Top tocket prices were $99! :o
