Good morning, all!
-
Last night was a dreadful night of sleep. I woke just before 2:00am, with my legs aching terribly. I'm out of Tylenol, so I took a tramadol and a tizanidine, went back to bed, and spent the nextr five hours wide awake amd playing with Thatch, who likes to cuddle, or lying there half awake and half dozing. I had what seemed more hallucinations than dreams. In one, I was looking at Thatch's Facebook page, which grew whiter and brighter until all the text and photos were gone. In another, I was workinhg in a store like Walmart in a shopping mall.
-
Then, as I was cuddling with Thatch and annabelle, who joined us at some point, I thought it looked too bright outside to be any time around 5:00am, so I checked the clock. It was 7:15. I had forgotten to set the alarm.

Joshie is tied up with the City Center Ragtime gala this week, so I have no idea when I'll be getting another number or when someone will pick pu "The Strip." So, I'm at loose ends today.

Joshie is coming by later to pick up The Strip. I've booked an Access-a-Ride trip as well, rescheduled an eye exam with my cataract surgeon, and picked up yesterday's mail. As soon as I make the bed, I'm lying in it.

Good morning, friends.

George never showed up and hasn't been here this morning - should we be concerned?

My left shoulder is aching for no apparent reason
Are you familiar with stretches you can do to help it?

Feel better shoulder & back vibes for DR Vixmom.

But I have yet to find a chiropractor I like since my regular guy retired
I found they hurt me so I stopped trying to find one I like.

Ditto on that!

Hopefully he simply fell asleep and then stayed asleep for the night.

George never showed up and hasn't been here this morning - should we be concerned?
No need to be concerned. After rehearsal last night, I started sorting more CDs and just decided to go to sleep. It was just a long day.
-
But thanks for the concern. :)
-
Joshie arrived with "Gotta Have a Gimmick," "Dainty June and her Farmboys," and "Broadway." That shou;d keep me busy for the rest of the week.
-
Hello folks.
I watched the Pennebaker documentary of the recording of the Company original cast LP. Twas an hour well spent.

Hello folks.
I watched the Pennebaker documentary of the recording of the Company original cast LP. Twas an hour well spent.
John Mulaney and Seth Meyers did a take-off on “Original Cast Album: Company" - which they called “Original Cast Album: Co-op"
This was the Times article on their take-off.
"John Mulaney and Seth Meyers Fondly Send Up Sondheim. He’s Amused."

“Usually in the courting pairs generally it is the male who takes charge and moves around with the female following close behind. But with this couple it was definitely Cleo who was in charge while the Panther followed.”

Tuesday afternoon greetings! We were out last night until 10pm, later than usual for us these days. I’ve been exhausted all day today.

Has the death of Mimi Hines been mentioned here?
https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/FUNNY-GIRL-Star-Mimi-Hines-Passes-Away-at-91-20241021
The second Broadway show I saw in New York was Funny Girl with her and Johnny Desmond, right before it closed in 1967.

Wow! That's a beautiful picture, Jane!
-
Now we're doing page three. I do not GET IT.
-
Some kind soul explain it to me.
-
It's ridic and it's getting worse.
-
Just had a weird computer crash - not the usual one - it happened about a month ago like this and it's really not good. It just shut off, then restarted itself, gave me some gobbledygook about the shut down, mostly in Japanese. Of course, it booted up but nothing worked - not the track bad, nothing loaded properly so I just shut it down via the power button and re-booted - it's fine now, but I really have to get a new computer.
-
And no modern major miracles coming this way.
-
Just one irritation after another and I've about had it with that malarky.
-
I had pasta papa for food - that was good.
-
Sent off the script and four songs - chose the best of the versions I recorded - none perfect, but good enough to get the idea.
-
And STILL we're on this page.
-
I haven't had a second to even open my voting packet.
-
And I'm trying to read and give notes on two different plays.
-
Irritating is the word, not Grease.
-
And not a single person has responded to the topic of the day. Did anyone actually read the damn notes?
-
I'd guess not.
-
And THAT is irritating.
-
And page four is irritating.
-
TOD: Taxi Driver. I really do need to see more Jodi Foster and Anthony Hopkins films.
-
Yesterday we were rehearsing Copland and Hanson for my other chorus gig. I just love the 7th Symphony and basking in it during rehearsal is glorious.
-
Tonight is dress rehearsal for our second Voices concert, in a different venue. This program has difficult to sing but beautiful to hear pieces by Schoenberg and Peter Shin, so a whole different vibe than the other chorus gig. Plus chamber chorus vs. symphonic chorus...

I just keep thinking of HANNIBAL another Hopkins/Hannibal movie with Julianne Moore.....and Ray Liotta sitting at the breakfast table while Hannibal sawed open his skull and while Ray was still alive.....he was eating his brains by the spoonful....
I gave up after that.....
-
So far I have been able to avoid the nightmare inducing Hannibal films.

I have also not seen Taxi Driver.

I had not heard about Mimi Hines. She could be a lot of fun.

George, or anyone, if I renew a book on Libby do you know how many extra days I can renew it?

I am behind on the daily Notes but so far have kept up with the daily posts.

It will be such a pleasure to sleep tonight with the C-PAP machine, which I did not bring on the trip. Didn't want to try to drag it through airport security.
-
I really admire the important work you are doing, DR John G. I fear many that used to volunteer have been driven away by the politicized atmosphere.

I will not be approaching any millstone tonight.

I did not sleep well last night, not falling asleep until around 2:00am.

McDonalds quarter-pounders are connected with an e-coli outbreak.

Also, some frozen waffles are being recalled for listeria.

On top of the beef recall, it seems it ain't safe to eat.

Can I place a special order to hold the e-coli?

Joshie is tied up with the City Center Ragtime gala this week, so I have no idea when I'll be getting another number or when someone will pick pu "The Strip." So, I'm at loose ends today.
I had hoped to go to the talkback performance but the tickets were too expensive
-
I just got home from the city
-
A friend was playing in a Doors tribute band at the Cutting Room so I went to support and enjoy the music!
-
The tickets were not too expensive , only about $30
-
Once again, page five.
-
I've been reading a play all evening.
-
And I'll just leave it at that.
-
Don't know what I'm going to say about it.
-
And George?
-
Will he be gracing us with his presence or filing more CDs and going to bed.
-
I suppose we shall see.
-
Meanwhile, I have notes to write.
-
I must.
-
I have to be up early tomorrow.
-
Page six has made its entrance - barely.
-
And, no posts.
-
I'm guessing George is through with his nocturnal visits.
-
That would be my guess.
-
The jam is no more.
-
The burritos win the day.
-
I'll still be here, no matter what.
-
But we'll miss the reports of the day, of the food, and all that stuff.
-
Not very sporting.
-
Maybe it will change someday.
-
But for now, we'll just have to make do.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Of course, there's no one here to read them.
-
Except the 634 GUESTS.
-
I'm guessing George is through with his nocturnal visits.
No, I just got home about 15 minutes ago.
-
Tonight we had an especially labored rehearsal. ::)
-
One of the performers is still struggling with [their*] lines.
*Gender redacted.
-
We open on Friday!
-
HOPEFULLY, it'll all come together by then.
-
The director said that if the person has to carry a book (with the script inside), then that would be better than how it went tonight. :-\
-
Last night, John posted a link to the soundboard audio of the Broadway production of A Doll's Life (https://youtu.be/csef8oYvcPk?si=30WHZKmwer768ho0).
-
I forgot that former DR PennyO was actually in that production!
-
The description for the video lists the cast:
...The cast included (among others) Betsy Joslyn, George Hearn, Edmund Lyndeck, Peter Gallagher, Penny Orloff, Barbara Lang, Norman A. Large, and David Seaman. Hal Prince directed the show, with Larry Fuller doing choreography
:D
-
Well, hallelujah, George and his jam showed up.
-
I saw A Doll's Life in its LA tryout at the Ahmanson with PennyO.
-
It was the first time I realized that great directors can have a really off day - it was terrible and Hal Prince bore a lot of that responsibility.
-
The page that shall not be named.
-
I shall not be naming it.
-
What's also fun about the cast is that Betsy Joslyn and George Hearn were just in Sweeney Todd together (although as father and daughter), as well as Edmund Lyndeck, who also was cast in Into the Woods!
-
And Peter Gallagher was originally cast as Giorgio in Passion, but left for personal reasons...if I remember correctly.
-
They became a couple during this show.
-

The second Broadway show I saw in New York was Funny Girl with her and Johnny Desmond, right before it closed in 1967.
I'd read about that earlier. :( I'd always enjoyed seeing videos of her performances on YouTube.

Betsy and George? That's almost incestuous! ;)
