Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a pepper upper, and now it is time for you to post until the pepped up cows come home. They just took some crystal MOOth.

And the word of the day is: DOGGEDLY!

To continue from last night, this is looking up at the loft from the stage:
-
TOD: My favorite film musicals tend to be adaptations. Hair is probably number one, with Cabaret and Chicago way up there.
-
DR George, I sure am grateful for folks like you who can handle those heights. For our operas the stage manager calls the show from the booth at the rear of the theatre, with the ASM in one of the wings. The people who really have to deal with heights are the follow spot operators.

Yup! At the Washington Center here in Olympia, there are four levels: orchestra (bottom floor), loge, mezzanine, and balcony. The follow spot operators here are also high up in the balcony:
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well anmd was at 5:15 when the alarm rang. I had a docntment at 10:15 this morn ing, but the trip to East 22nd Street is a long one and I always like to have time for kitty cleanup before Access-a-Ride shows up.
-
As I went through my emails, I heard on the TV news that there is a ticker tape parade this morning, meaning all traffice below 42nd Street could be a mess. I immediately got online with my HMO, rescheduled my appointment to next week, and canceled Access-a-Ride. This give me more time this morning to get through "Gotta Have Gimmick."
-
DR vixmom, what good luck you have! I'm very happy your tire story was so easily resolved.
-
My life continues in a holding pattern: waiting for the book to be published, waiting for something to happen with the ballet, waiting for a release of the CD, and more productions, of Moonshine and Mistletoe.
-
And waiting for a good paying job!
-
DR JohnG, I hadn't though much about the Anthony Hopkins King Lear, but now I'd like to see it. I haven't seen Ian McKellan's performance either, but I did like Ian Holms very much.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Ian Holm was my favorite Lear
-
Many don't know that My Favorite Year was originally entitled My Favorite Lear.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
And Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber's song from Sunset Boulevard, "The Perfect Year," was originally entitled "The Perfect Lear."
-
But I digress.
-
Which I am wont to do.
-
Oh dear.
-
.
-
"Food" is pretty generic.
-
But I guess "bologna" isn't "food"?
-
Many don't know that My Favorite Year was originally entitled My Favorite Lear.
Useful information. I certainly did not know that
-
but here it is on the internet so there must be some level of truth to it.
-
To repeat the Doris Day PILLOW TALK title song lyric: There must!

George, that set-up for your stage manager perch looks a bit daunting to me.
So glad it doesn't bother you!

How right you are, until you get to mortadella, which is divine.
-
Listening to a novel called The Empusium, which is like an answer to The Magic Mountain. Like Thomas Mann's novel, this one holds my attention at times and then loses it. It's due back shortly, so I have to finish it.
-
It was written by Olga Tokarczuk, who, like Mann, won the Nobel. Both take place in a mountaintop sanitarium for tuberculosis patients. The new novel has a little creepy edge to it, making it a good choice for Halloween season.

favorite adaptations -
THE WIZARD OF OZ
MARY POPPINS
CABARET
Not sure on which non-adaptations are favorites, though. Does YELLOW SUBMARINE count as a non-adaptation, or is that an adaptation of a record album?
-
My defences are down.
-
Not sure why I thought of that, except that DR John G. is reporting to the front lines.
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLES OF THE STRONGEST SORT~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!!!!
-
Yes, more and more Modern Major Miracles for bk!
-
I think the other day BK asked what we like to listen to when we need a boost.
My answer is most definitely BK's song "Everything Is Gonna Be All Right" from Welcome to My World.
-
Speaking of MUSIC MAN, and BK was doing so in the Notes -
-
Have we mentioned this MUSIC MAN-related news from page 6 of the New York Post?
https://pagesix.com/2024/10/23/celebrity-news/sutton-foster-files-for-divorce-amid-hugh-jackman-rumors/
"...Sutton Foster has filed for divorce from “Ocean’s Eleven” screenwriter Ted Griffin, Page Six has learned — amid buzz she is moving on with her former “The Music Man” co-star Hugh Jackman."
-
Off to work
Have a great workday, John G!
-
So is Sutton meeting Hugh at the footbridge?
-
And what does Zaneeta say about THAT?
-
Good morning!
Wordle: 5/6
-
Good morning, all.
-
Boy, am I beat. Good thing there's no rehearsal now till Sunday afternoon.
-
BK, did you watch The Music Man on disc or streaming somewhere? I'm assuming it still looks the same as it has all these years on Blu-ray?
-
TOD:
The Music Man
West Side Story
Gypsy
Cabaret
-
Yes Tommy Kirk played Joe Hardy in two MMC serials. Frank was played by Tim Considine.
-
This morning I bought a dozen donuts from Dunkin and went to my mechanics' where I got the new set of tires in July.
-
I walked in just as they opened and said, I'm here to ask a favor..
and I brought a bribe I mean donuts."
They laughed and helped me right away
-
They kindly plugged the tire and changed it back for me atno charge
George & Rodzinski, to check the status on your ballots go to https://voter.votewa.gov/portal2023/login.aspx?so=1
I am pleased to say it shows that my ballot was accepted.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I streamed Music Man - same old, same old, but somewhere, maybe Tubi, the transfer looks better.
-
Or maybe it's Vudu.
-
Do do that Vudu that you do so well.
-
DR Vixmom you were lucky to have assistance finding what the problem with your tire was, and then AAA arriving so quickly. I hope they were able to fix your tire today.
-
DR George, I found your photos interesting.
Good morning.
So, two weeks ago in an auction, a first edition in pretty okay condition of To Kill a Mockingbird sold for $7500 - a huge bargain. Today, a copy just sold - and in horrible condition - for $34,000. I am sick to my stomach. If only I'd have money laying around two weeks ago. The prices in this Swann Gallery auction were pretty crazy. I'd go to them if I were selling stuff, although the excellent copy of the two Lolita volume first edition (true first was two volume paperback from the Olympia Press went for $3800, a bit low I thought - I have a very nice set here - but not as nice as the one that sold for 3800.
-
Thursday afternoon greetings!
Vibes for Ginny
Thank you, DR Vixmom! I spent yesterday afternoon shopping all around Butler County with my friend Sue. Our last stop was Jungle Jim’s, which just about did me in. It was a good tired, though, and I should probably push myself like that more often.
Cute. I have seen photos of dogs on hot pavements wearing them. I didn't realize that they are also a fashion statement ;D
Excellent. Vibes the plug holds!
TOD - there aren’t many movie musicals I DON’T like. I didn’t like CABARET until I found out it was truer to the book. After reading the book, I liked the movie better.
George, that set-up for your stage manager perch looks a bit daunting to me.
So glad it doesn't bother you!
It's not really bad at all. When I first met the owners of the theeder group, we went up there, and it seemed a bit daunting, but even after just a couple of climbs this week, it's really not too bad at all.
We used to see deer all the time when we lived in Ashland. We know some live here but have rarely seen them. Today, a pair came trotting along the grass next to our walking path.
They sure were cute :)
Thank you. Keith has a book for the trip that expires in 13 days. It says I can renew it so I am thinking of doing it now. I was concerned if I clicked on renew it would only be for 7 days.
OMG! How could I forget The First Nudie Musical!! :o
The First Nudie Musical is a given, isn't it?
It doesn't matter, I can't renew until ten days from now ;D
Yesterday I forgot to post that Keith got Wordle in three.
I got two posts out of that ;)
Nicely done, DR Jane! In the first four posts on this page, you incorporated two, three, four, and five.
I was going to try to tough it out until page six, but I'm quite tired, suddenly.
Well, at least I made it to #130.
Good night, friends.
Loved Jack Jones - he and Steve Lawrence were my faves when I was a young teen.
-
Page five?
-
I guess that's reasonable.
-
Lots of drama about the holiday show, but it's fine now.
-
I do not care for drama.
But perhaps a modern major miracle on the horizon.
That would be heavenly.
I've read them.
I'm not having anything else to eat this evening.
Tomorrow is another story.
The space is in an L-shaped configuration...seats are only on two sides, so the set is positioned diagonally across the space.
-
I shall not name it.
But it's a lucky number!
-
Tomorrow is another story.
There will always be another story. ;)
-
Tomorrow's story will be the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Rutabaga. That one's a corker.
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
You know who loves The Randy Vicar and the Rutabaga? Ruta Lee.
-
Page eight has made its entrance.
-
8 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
Better late than never.
-
Well, guess I'll change the topic.
-
One simply must.
-
It's just done.
-
It would be chaos and anarchy to not do it.
-
Then one shall change the topic.
