Well, you've read the notes, the notes were speedy and contained a modern major miracle, and now it is time for you to post until the speedy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OMNISCIENT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
Forgot to mention that I got my flu shot yesterday.
-
I also wanted to get my COVID booster, but apparently I need to wait until January.
-
Four months after I got COVID.
-
I also got referrals for a dermatologist and an optholmologist.
-
Good morning,all.
-
Exciting stuff, I know.
-
Dreamt I had to create recipes for a fancy island competition that showcased apples and oranges together. And it couldn't be the Michelin ideal of presenting the perfect apple or orange by themselves. I think it might have been on Cyprus, where both grow. And I was considering milopita, a Greek apple cake with a touch of Orange blossom water added and an orange glaze. For a garnish, I was allowed to use apple slices soaked in orange juice.
-
It's apples and oranges, is it?
-
Exactly, Singdaw
-
Glad you had a modern major miracle yesterday, BK.
-
~~~BACK HOLDING OUT VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!
-
Forgot to mention that I got my flu shot yesterday.
Great news in last night's posts about your blood pressure and A1C results, singdaw!
-
More congrats to BK on getting your helpful modern major miracle!
Sounds like a dream version of the British Baking Show.
Good morning, all!
-
I'm moving slowly and I am about an hour behind where I would like to be.
-
I woke around 11:30 with my legs in a hellish torment, then futzed around 30 minutes trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. I finally got back to sleep and slept well until 3:00, when I got into my doze-wake mode, during which I cuddled with Thatch. Around 6:00 Annabelle decided to rise and abandon me, but I decided to go back to bewd fdor another 30 minutes.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I need to book an Access-a-Ride trip and pick up yesterday's mail. Joshie may come by for my Gypsy scores if he has the Toreadorables ready for me. If not, I'll see him tomorrow at some point.
-
DR John G, I really admire you for your election work. especially[ecially more since I read about all these morons running loose destroying ballot boxes.
-
Today I’m going to make some rehearsal tracks for the Wonderettes, something they can use at home to hear their individual parts in places with the trickier harmonies. This is easier said than done for a show like this. I was hoping to discover that some enterprising person had already made some. Sadly, no, not that I can find.
-
Isn't EVERY day "Cat Day," really?
-
As soon as they finished trheir breakfast, Annabelle, Stella, and Thatch gathered at my feet. I looked away from my emails to see Annabelle waving a piece of paper at me.
Are you going to post this? Annabelle asked.
I took the paper and read it. Is this why you three are so rambunctious this morning? I asked.
Well, she responded, you know how much fun we three scallawags and hooligans are!
I laughed. You're also rascals, dsevils, and pains in my ass, Inapped. But you're my three devils.
And you, Daddy, are our cross to bear.
Thank you, Annabelle.
So, will you post this? Thatch asked.
Yes, I will, I answered.
And I did.
Today I am going to go to Ollie's with my 15% off one entire purchase coupon and then drop by Goodwill to see what they have to offer.
-
It is already 61 degrees.
I am glad I put my trash container out last night because when I got up at 7:30 a.m. this morning, it was standing on its head empty in the middle of my driveway.
-
Ooooh! DR Jrand74 has 80 o' them degrees. I like that.
Because we're supposed to have it on Thursday -- HALLOWEEN!
That is for The MARVY Wonderettes, DR Singdaw, not the WINTER Wonderettes.
But thank you for trying. Please take a gift bag on your way out.
I found a nice shirt at Goodwill and a CD titled Feinstein & Shearing - hopeless romantics.
At Ollie's I bought a bag of Halloween candy, two candles, and a 2-volume book set about Medieval Art.
So, I heard that the shenanigans at Madison Square Garden was planned to make people vote in the House contests for Republicans. Then The House can somehow overturn the election.
It's amazing to me that these morons can with a straight face state the presidential election was "stolen" but somehow the supposed deed doers didn't likewise flip the lower seats.
You might remember my mentioning a friend named Rebecca from time to time. She and I were young Miami University librarians in the 1970s and became good friends. She was devastated when her husband died in 2020 and eventually stopped even responding to my texts almost 3 years ago.
I learned quite by accident last Friday that she’d had a stroke in April, shuttled from facility to facility for 6 months, and died on October 8. While I’m not sure she’d appreciate the exposure, I was grateful to find that her church had live-streamed her Oct. 16 funeral and I could watch the replay.
This one’s tough…
Oh, I'm sorry, Ginny. I do remember hearing about Rebecca many times.
So sorry for your loss, DR Ginny. May her memory be a blessing.
There is precious little for me to write about since my last post several days back.
i am even more disappointed in some relatives than I previously was thanks to their unremitting obsession with Donald J. Stump and how absolutely right he is for "their" interests.
I got a scathing retort from one in-law saying he was very disappointed that I would berate the old bastard for being like Hitler and being a fascist. Didn't I realize the man has a Jewish daughter and grandchildren? How would I like it if someone said something ugly about me in that fashion.
I pointed out that I was not quoting me, but the Donald himself, that I was listening to the Donald and why wasn't HE listening? He then told me he did listen, but that the Donald had been good for his business and that it hasn't been the same since Biden took over. I reminded him that when Biden took office, we were coming out a pandemic that had crippled many businesses, primarily because of the Donald's inept mismanagement of it. Biden wasn't going to wave a wand and make things perfect again but that the economy has vastly improved.
Nope, he wasn't having any of it. At that point, I scratched him off my "give-a-shit-about" list permanently.
So, you can see that I have been embroiled in bitter debated online for a while.
It seems I cannot get away from it, even when I make excuses here for my recent absences.
-
Clean-up from Hurricane Helene continues apace.
Sadly, many folks are still without internet although power seems to have been restored by last week's end.
I was very lucky to have power on the third day, and internet the next.
A lot of limbs and debris have been cleaned off roadsides and lots more remain to be removed. There are still houses that have uprooted trees that fell onto them and there hasn't been any effort, that I can see, to start removal and repairs. Other houses have huge tarps over roofs that are awaiting roofing specialists to come in. The damage was very widespread, so these things will continue to take time.
Western North Carolina, however, may never return to pre-storm normalcy. Some small towns were wiped away. Flooding was immense, damage was overwhelming. With winter swiftly approaching, most efforts are being made to insure folks have a safe warm place to stay while the repair/cleanup continues.
-
I have, sadly, reached the end of this season's "Only Murders in the Building" on Disney/Hulu.
The final episode bears the title "My Best Friend's Wedding".
It also sets up "next season" if there is to be one.
I have voted. I voted Friday.
I voted for the only person on the ticket who can do justice to the job of President of the United States.
I adore the Vice-Presidential nominee. He's the one who called Elon Musk a "prancing dipshit" at a rally.
This week needs to whiz by. My nerves can't take much more of this nonsense. Local TV ads for Trump repeat the same lies over and over again...making ridiculous claims that Harris has done things she has never had the power or authority to do.
I yell at my TV too much.
-
DR Ron, I told my DH we should have taken our little camping trailer out into the woods for this week -- someplace without internet. We just couldn't fit it in the schedule.
Ron, I appreciate you doing the lord’s work arguing with the brick walls in your midst. It’s worse than thankless. I have one sibling in many ways a great person, but she drank the kool-aid deep, and I can’t even bother to argue with her, even though at least one of her own kids would suffer under a repeat of that regime.
May sanity prevail.
It's been another exhausting day. People thought rain was coming, so the lines weren't long. Then it didn't rain, so a steady stream picked up. But we ended up with three people less than yesterday, only 1,922.
-
I started watching The Zone of Interest. It captures the true boredom of the lives of these horrible people who happen to be living next to a concentration camp. Sandra Huller is amazing as the prototypical hausfrau vacuuming floors and then trying on a mink coat taken from one of the Jews brought to the camp. Everything is so banal.
-
I voted today, after figuring out all 12 races and 12 propositions. The top of the ballot didn't need any figuring out, but down ballot we have many races with multiple good candidates, and many of the propositions have decent arguments on either side.
Just ordered some clam chowder - I love good New England clam chowder and there are several excellent jernts that have it around these here parts.
-
I have been busy tossing, packing, and the usual laundry and such. Brian came over on Saturday and did a lot of cleaning and packing. There’s a building inspection here on Thursday and I needed to get the place more presentable. It looks a lot better. I don’t want him to trip over my many boxes.
-
Chowder is a great Carol Channing word. Try it.
-
I think I'll go directly to Jeanne's after the eye doctor - I'll accuse the building inspectors of being fake and that I'M the real building inspector. A THRILLER!
-
Vibes to all.
Good night.
-
Still dressed as an eye ball? We need photographic evidence, you know.
-
Speaking of thrillers, I watched another one tonight - from 2022. It had a couple of interesting moments and it's certainly well directed and has a good leading performance by an actor I really don't care for - but the screenwriters aren't so hot, especially when adapting a Patricia Highsmith novel that didn't need their help. They change way too many things. Of course, one of the writers is Sam Levinson, that disgusting writer who created one of the worst TV shows EVER - The Idol, starring Johnny Depp's daughter.
-
Yes, Halloween, you know.
-
Good night 2.
-
I was thinking of getting a ride to and from the eye place, but the insurance doesn't cover Uber and Lyft, only RideShare and they cannot guarantee you'll get there on time. So, I'll just drive over there, and if I'm not comfortable driving home if the dilating of the eyeballs lingers, I'll just walk somewhere and get a bite to eat, THEN drive home. There should be some jernt not too far from there or I can Uber somewhere close.
-
All is well and I have a new appointment for next year
This one’s tough…
I'm so sorry, Ginny. My condolences to you and to her family. :(
On this date in 2009, the Broadway revival of Finian's Rainbow, with which I was lucky and happy to be involved, opened.
I got to meet Terry White and get her autograph when I went to New York! I recognized her when she was working at Eighty-Eights piano bar! ;D
There is precious little for me to write about since my last post several days back.
i am even more disappointed in some relatives than I previously was thanks to their unremitting obsession with Donald J. Stump and how absolutely right he is for "their" interests.
I got a scathing retort from one in-law saying he was very disappointed that I would berate the old bastard for being like Hitler and being a fascist. Didn't I realize the man has a Jewish daughter and grandchildren? How would I like it if someone said something ugly about me in that fashion.
I pointed out that I was not quoting me, but the Donald himself, that I was listening to the Donald and why wasn't HE listening? He then told me he did listen, but that the Donald had been good for his business and that it hasn't been the same since Biden took over. I reminded him that when Biden took office, we were coming out a pandemic that had crippled many businesses, primarily because of the Donald's inept mismanagement of it. Biden wasn't going to wave a wand and make things perfect again but that the economy has vastly improved.
Nope, he wasn't having any of it. At that point, I scratched him off my "give-a-shit-about" list permanently.
That's really too bad, Ron. I will never understand how people can be like that.
