Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both muffins and donuts, and now it is time for you to post until the muffin and donut cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INCANDESCENT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's a sad morning. As DR Rodzxinski reported last night, little Peanut the squirrel was indeed euthanized by NY State DEC. According to CBS News this morning, he was euthanized after he bit the person trying to give him a rabies test. I'm sure trhat poor animal was terrified and traumatized out of his mind aftere being hunted down in the only home he's known and dragged off by strangers. I am heartbroken.

After reading the article I posted, Peanut was euthanized to give him the rabies test, which is even worse: the DEC bastards confiscated him on grounds he might be rabid, knowing full well he would be murdered to be tested.
-
Joshie stopped by yesterday to pick up The Toreadorables and give me the Entr'Acte. I will bury my grief today in editing a score.

Good morning, all.
-
What a beautiful and loving pet. RIP, Peanut.

I took a Benadryl last night because I’d been cleaning up a dusty area and was starting to feel sniffly, and it knocked me out but good. I turned the tube on to see if there was a decent movie to fall asleep to, and there was, but I was out within a few minutes and I can’t even remember what it was.

Tonight, the fall-back… the eve of of Cat Owner Damnation Day.

Please celebrate responsibly.

Good morning, all.

I slept about 8.5 hours, so there was a little extra there.

I don't eat muffins. Too dry and too many carbs. They're just kinda boring.
I love plain croissants with a rich buttery flavor and, yes, please, chocolate croissants.
-
Muffins today are way too big. They used to be the size of small cupcakes. Now they're just mountains of more stuff I don't want.
-
I still haven't stirred.

The bird might be worried.

But first ...

What John G. said about muffins. Too dry, too many carbs, kinda boring, too big... and to which I would add: too crumbly / messy.
As are most cupcakes, too, in my opinion. Some might be delicious, but I feel like I need to wash up after eating either of these things.
As for croissants: no chocolate for me, thanks. But I love croissants in every other way known to Man.

I do love muffins, expecially blueberry, banana nut, and orange cranberry ones.

TOD: Plain croissant or pain au chocolat for me, please. I'm not as big a muffin fan, but a good blueberry or chocolate muffin can be nice on occasion.
-
I love blueberries, and I love the IDEA of blueberry muffins. I just don't like the execution.
-
I say Tristan und Isolde at San Francisco Opera last night. Fabulous singing, playing, and conducting, but the direction wasn't very good. In the second act you have a half hour of some of the sexiest music ever written, yet there's no passion and minimal desire on the stage. They spend most of their duet in the friend zone. Which means there's not much at stake for our title characters, so the character I wound up caring the most about was King Marke.
-
I love blueberries, and I love the IDEA of blueberry muffins. I just don't like the execution.
That's why I specified good blueberry muffins! With really good blueberries and a really good muffin bake.
-
I think the burning question of the day, unless I missed it, is:
(1) What kind of donuts did they deliver to BK, and (2) how many are left?
-
Since Act II's Tristan staging took me out of the story, the staging errors in Act III were even more noticeable. Like when one character killed another by plunging his sword into the set a very visible two feet away from the character. I guess it must have startled him to death.
-
Then in Act III when King Marke says, "They're all dead," his four soldiers all simultaneously realize, "Oh! There's nobody left to kill!" and synchronously put away their swords. I burst out laughing together with the guy sitting next to me, but that's not supposed to be a laugh line.
-
Sorry for venting, but it bugs me when big-budget opera companies do things that would never make it past rehearsal in our low-budget opera company.
Fortunately the music making was absolutely exquisite. We have a real gem of a music director in Eun Sun Kim and the orchestra played superbly. And singers like Simon O'Neill and Anja Kampe are treasures, but the whole cast was fabulous.
-
Could have sworn I posted when I got up and that I got six hours of sleep - rough night.
-
Maybe the gremlins removed it.

Condolences to vixmom.

Good afternoon.

Such sad news about Peanut.

Very strange story, JRand. I hope he's found safe somehow.

A judge in Arizona has ruled that the list of people who did not provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote must be turned over to .... someone. I may be on that list; I don't know. I registered to vote at age 18 and didn't have to provide anything.
The officials are afraid of voter intimidation before the election.
-
There's some glitch about the DMV and when you got your driver's license and when you registered to vote. People affected got their driver's licenses before 1996.
-
DR John G, how did you find the Anthony Hopkins King Lear?
-
I make a fair number of muffins. My muffins are muffins, not cupcakes. Sometimes I put them into mini-loaf pans to make mini cakes.
We got some HUGE zucchinis in our vegetable box this morning, so I'll make some muffins for church tomorrow. We also got ugly apples -- perfectly good and tasty, but not pretty enough to be sold in a grocery store. I made some into applesauce -- so applesauce cake tomorrow as well.
-
Leonard told me someone was coming up the driveway. She saw the note I put on the door: "We have already voted and will not discuss it with anybody." Then she left.
-
I loved Conclave. One ending was obvious. The twist was not.
-
DR John G, how did you find the Anthony Hopkins King Lear?
Great cast. The play was poorly truncated.

Today, I'm picking up one of the actors in An Inspector Calls and will drive him to the show and home. He lives in Lacey, so to drop him off is on my way home.
That's very nice of you.
-
Conclave had a wonderful performance from Isabella Rossellini, who looks so much like her mother.
-
There was also one moment of breathtaking beauty: The cardinals are walking across a courtyard in the rain. They are all wearing red and white and their umbrellas are all white. It's shot from above.
-
DR John G, how did you find the Anthony Hopkins King Lear?
Great cast. The play was poorly truncated.
I meant: where did you find it on the internet?
-
No new word on friend Mark's status..... Thanks to all for the concern.

That message from DJT made my blood boil as well

Nine readings and one $5 tip - so I made $95 for sitting and talking for 3 1/2 hours which I usually do for free......

The posters and reviews of coming attractions were an odd mix. Everything was about Wicked. Then there is a Catholic movie about Mary that liked dreadful. Another is a bioflick called Bonhoeffer, about the minister who joined a plot to kill Hitler.

Now that's what you'd call effective gaslighting!

Saturday evening greetings! Late getting here because we went on a field trip with some friends to Ohio’s newest state park, Great Council just north of Xenia. Home just in time for the Michigan/Oregon game which just ended - badly.

DR Jrand:
How is it possible that the Indiana Hoosiers football team remains UNDEFEATED?
Yes, I know you don't "do" football, but does anyone you know comment on it or get excited by it?
-
It has been a very low-key day for me.
I took some stuff to our local recycling center. I stopped at Mickey D's and had a cheese-less quarter-pounder with fries and a large Dr. Pepper. It was all extremely delicious.
I am desperately trying to remain "detached" from the final days before election day. The folks who hit you up via texts for donations have upped their game, but I have sent each a comment that I'm tapped out donations-wise. One was pleading that he was way behind and absolutely HAD to have my monetary support. I commiserated but replied "too little, too late." If he hasn't done what he needs to do by now, there is no hope.
That person was not from my home state. In fact, none of them are.
-
I have a pro-Trump cousin from Virginia who lives in Atlanta. He went home Friday and took his mom, my first cousin Vivian who is a life-long Democrat, to vote. My cousin is in the early stages of dementia.
Her persuaded her to vote for Trump. His sister messaged me about this. She is very upset. Her brother convinced his addled mom that the country isn't ready for a "lady president".
He is immune to reason or truth. And he's been a true "loser" most of his adult life, so I guess he sees Trump as a kindred spirit.

On a more upbeat note:
I watched a new documentary on John Williams on Disney plus last night. It's about 1 hour 45 minutes and covers a large swath of Williams' career.
John Williams is a very private man and a bit shy, but his participation in the documentary is very touching and illuminating. While it is generous in covering his career, it could have easily gone another hour discussing his earlier experiences in Hollywood as well as covering some of his great scores that weren't even mentioned ("Jane Eyre", and "The Witches of Eastwick").
The documentary has many executive producers as well as comments from major Hollywood figures in both music and filmmaking.
-
And that's it. That's all I know for now.
I can do or say no more.

There's some glitch about the DMV and when you got your driver's license and when you registered to vote. People affected got their driver's licenses before 1996.

They did, I thought. Everyone is allowed to vote this time. But this ruling turning over the names was just made yesterday.
It doesn't mean non-citizens are voting. It just has to do with when you got your driver's license and when you registered to vote, since most of us did both at the same time.

DR RON PULLIAM in point of fact - the president of my theeder group and her husband are the grandparents of a student at IU. He is on the staff of the football team. He was a very good player in high school....he is working to become an athletic trainer.
Now and then I see him on the sidelines. He is a very smart young man and I think he will succeed in whatever he chooses to do.
His mother is the "actress" from The Pink Panther Strikes again that some folks on HHW may remember my commenting about way last summer......

Yes DR GINNY, Mark lives in Bellevue, KY, which i gather is just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati as I am sure you know.

Luka Garza got to play for the last three minutes of the game against the Spurs.

I am sort of looking forward to the SNL tonight because the host is John Mulaney who I always think is funny.....the musical guest is Roan Somethingorother.....I have heard one of her songs that was okay....but I am not her audience.
