Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not much of anything, and now it is time for you to post until the not much of anything cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ELEVATING!
-
Welcome 301 GUESTS!
-
That's a lot of GUESTS.
-
George just up and disappeared.
-
Probably trying to find his jam.
-
Certainly, I'm trying to find mine.
-
George just up and disappeared.
No, I didn't. I was in the middle of typing this post:
George is probably eating a burrito.
Nope. Today, I drove one of the actors to the show and then back to his car downtown where he is rehearsing another show. On the way home, he wanted to drive through someplace and we went through Popeyes. He got some chicken tenders, and I got a Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich (https://www.popeyes.com/menu/picker-75cbe657-1026-4cbe-bb92-630025c905ed). It was fairly spicy, and not too bad, but it was kind of dry...not enough sauce on it. :-\ I'll try it again earlier in the day rather than late at night. That might make the difference.

I had some ghost pepper wings when they first started the ghost pepper stuff - way too spicy for the likes of me.
-
Completely forgot that clocks go back an hour. Thought it was two, but it's one. :)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Interesting review, DR George. Thanks for sharing.

Who decides these things?

Have enjoyed hearing all about your trip, DR Jane.

~~~CONTINUED SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!!
Here is the cold open from last night's SNL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Funs6yyEw
-
Good mornming, all!
-
:)
I slept terribly. I could not submerge my rage over the murders of a squirrel and raccoon. I trned off the lights around 9:45, then spentr the next two hours weeping, cursing, and wondering how this mess occurred.
What I do not understand:
1. Mark had been posting Peanut videos on Facebook and Instagram for over five years, first in Brooklyn, then at the animal rescue farm over a year ago; no one ever checked u[ on his owning a "wild" animal or offered advice on how to proceed?
2. DEC claims there were "numerous" complaints over the animals' treatment; how many were local and how many were from outside the Pine City NY area?
3. Why wasn't Mark contacted, spoken to over the situation, and allowed to make whatever adjustments, etc? The farm surely has a vet who could have helped in some way.
4. Why weren't the squirrel and raccoon put into observation for signs of rabies rather than killed outright?
-
So, on top of that, I couldn't stop thinking how I'd feel if some NY City bureau decided to raid my apartment and apprehend my babies. At some point after midnight I finally dozed off, but it was a terrible night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Interesting review, DR George. Thanks for sharing.
I agree, though a tad repetitive.
-
Then, some time after 2:00, I think I had a visitation with my late friend Bruce Pomahac that really spooked me. I still don;t know if it was a dream or a spectral occasion. We talked about the new John Wilson recording of Carousel. I like some of it very much, but I hate his conducting of the Carousel Waltz and the Hornpipe that follows "Blow Hugh Blow Low"; both are two fast.
-
DR John G, thanks for the King Lear link.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept partially all right, partially fitfully, and woke way too early for a Sunday morning when we’ve just been handed an extra hour.
Which is simply more proof that you can’t win.
-
Back to rehearsal this afternoon!
-
PAGE TWO!!
-
:)
-
Good morning.
-
I am up early this morning baking stuff for the coffee hour. Someone else is bringing muffins, so I am making chocolate zucchini muffins in the mini-loaf pans, an applesauce cake, cake mix cookies, and a pan of brownies for the lunch after the service.
-
Wow!
-
No one can accuse your church members of being underfed.
-
BK doesn't have a chip in the house.
-
In the meantime, at the Old Dutch factory in Minnesota...
-
One of the kids when I first started going to this church now has a consulting service. He's here this weekend, talking to all of us about our hopes for the future.
-
I really hope he hired someone to visit us as a mystery shopper. We need to be told our weaknesses.
-
It will not be food, I'm sure.
-
It will not be food, I'm sure.
Ha!
Happy Sunday morning, November 3, 2024.
There will never be another one in this lifetime.
-
For whatever reason, I was unable to drift off to sleep last night. It may have been because I realized I'd have an extra hour of sleep and my mind didn't want the rest of me to have it.
When I slept, however, it was the sleep of the righteous!
I feel very rested.
Alert the media!
-
I am 11 days away from my cataract surgery.
It's should be life-changing. Hopefully, for the better.
Meanwhile, I have mislaid my reading glasses.
-
I must say that Arizona does one thing right: We don't do the time change thing. The last thing we want is another hour of daytime in the summer here.
-
That is good, DR Laura.
-
I'm putting my foot down.
Here is the cold open from last night's SNL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Funs6yyEw
Also from SNL last night, John Mulaney starred in a musical comedy called "Port Authority Duane Reade."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuUdi1ZdXAA
John Mulaney offering the flu shot at the beginning was quite funny.
Fun forced rhymes throughout, and some seemed really good and funny.
-
I'm putting my foot down.
LOL!
More surgery vibes for Ron!
-
John G, what day do you start your traveling?
-
YouTube brought up this SNL moment from during the 2008 Presidential campaign, when Sarah Palin played herself while Tina Fey played her in the same sketch.
-
Interesting review shared by DR GEORGE - and about what was to be expected from DR GEORGE's posts.
-
Yes DR singdaw I misspoke.....I gained an hour.
I started at the north end of the house with the clock changing. I have a clock in every room.....so it took a bit of time..... I carried my phone with me so I could be more or less accurate with my settings.
-
This one my favorite SNL of the season so far. I didn't even mind Chappell Roan although I really don't know WTF she was doing and could only understand about every fourth word she sang.
-
And I liked the musical skit that DR FREDDIE mentioned. It mostly made me laugh.
John Mulaney's opening monolog was not as funny as he usually is....and he is wearing his hair much longer now.
I did laugh at the exchange in the musical sketch -
John: The system is down so we are only accepting cash or sex.
Pete Davison: I have cash.
John: Oh....that's too bad! :D
-
Good questions DR ELMORE.
I am still trying to understand the Halloween potato thing.
I don't get it, either. But apparently it's a been a thing for a few years now.
-
I leave Wednesday, only a few hours after the election.
-
Back to The Zone of Interest. Brutal. The humor is so bleak it hurts. Not an easy watch, but an excellent film.
-
Vixmom, sorry for your sudden bad news.
-
JRand, sorry about yours. Hoping there’s still hope.
-
Ron and JRand. There simply is no precedent for IU football of this caliber in our lifetimes. They’ve had runs of decent years, making minor or mid-tier bowl games. But this is unheard of.
-
One of the recurring motifs in this movie is the cleaning, as if everything were schmutzig, as my mother would have called. No amount of cleaning can make their souls clean though. The ending is quiet and devastating.
-
I’ve now seen 8 or ladt year’s 10 best picture nominees. Only missed Killers of the Osage Moon and Maestro. Anatony of a Fall is still my top pick, but Zone is way up there. And both feature excellent Sandra Huller performances.
-
I am still waiting for Maestro to come on a service that I have.
-
DR RODZINSKI there has been no further word.....so I am not optimistic.
As I was setting all of my clocks back.
The clock in my bathroom.....which was a small desk clock on a stand that looks something like this....that belonged to my late uncle was ALREADY set back when I got to it.
And now from the sublime to the uber ridiculous, Twisters.
That's a puzzler, unless you just forgot to set it forward in the spring?
-
The magnificent novella, Small Things Like These, is coming to the theater soon. Edna Walsh, who wrote the bok to Once, wrote the screenplay. The book was heartbreaking and uplifting both. I hope the movie is half as good.
-
Have enjoyed hearing all about your trip, DR Jane.
Thank you.
-
We are more than ready to go home. Keith's cousin said we needed to stay longer than we originally planned. She is happy and off on a long drive to another cemetery. We are tired 😆
-
Now we have a weather alert in Dallas tomorrow and are concerned it will be very difficult to get home.
-
Vibes will be appreciated.
-
Wow!
Yes, wow DR Laura
Twisters is crap, but as Pauline Kael once said, it’s crap on a motorcycle. And Glen Powell really has charisma.
A nice story about Days of Our Lives's tribute to Bill Hayes.
-
Watching a silent film called That Certain Feeling. It's early Frank Capra. The score isn't new, but the music includes some Borodin.
-
Crap on a Motorcycle is a compliment that I shall surely remember.
-
Nice DR JOHN G.
Weather vibes for DR JANE.
I am enjoying the day.
DR Laura, have you ever seen "The Mystery Worshipper" on the Ship of Fools website?
-
We are going to settle in with popcorn and watch the John Williams documentary.
-
It is gray and cool here today.
-
It feels like winter, not autumn.
-
Interesting review, DR George. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Singdaw.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Clocks are all adjusted.
-
Been doing stuff.
-
Had a chopped Eyetalian salad for food, since I didn't really feel like sitting in the Coral Cafe.
-
Salad was excellent.
-
Shaved.
-
About to shower.
-
So glad I checked the email about the matinee today - it's four, not two.
So, I'll leave here at three.
Earlier we stopped ice cream at the place across the street and I got a single scoop of chocolate.
-
I had expected the orange to be orange peel. It was little crumbles of an orange cookie. Yum.
-
After a long walk I got another scoop to eat in our room. It was even better as Iet it soften fist.
-
The chocolate flavor was delicious.
Hoping for good travel weather for Jane and John this week!
DR Laura, have you ever seen "The Mystery Worshipper" on the Ship of Fools website?
https://shipoffools.com/mystery-worshipper/
Oh my. I would be mortified to show up on that website. We are such a small congregation and have limited abilities. We do have our faults. But we are loving and open and family.
But we would come across as so pathetic on this website.
-
Oh dear one of the pair of keets escaped the cage....the room door was closed so he is somewhere in here.....perhaps he will show up tomorrow.
-
Oh dear. I hope he shows up soon.
Watching Journey into Fear.
~~~FINDING IT VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand74!
-
The John Williams documentary was excellent.
-
I've been listening to The Kurt Weill Album, a new Deutsche Grammophon release feature symphonies 1 and 2 as well as The Seven Deadly Sins. Joanna Mallwitz conducts. Good stuff.
-
It's been a while since I've heard Weill.
-
:)
-
:)
Love it.
-
But. Singdaw, can you move us to page six?
-
BK, I envy you meeting Tommy Wolf. The Nervous Set is also a score I am obsessed with. it opened in the same year as Gypsy, Sound of Music, Destry Rides Again and Once Upon a Mattress. Richard Rodgers loved the she and took out an add praising it before it closed. He never commented on his own daughter's score.
-
But. Singdaw, can you move us to page six?
Questionable.
-
The documentary made me want to explore some of John Williams's music in genres other than film.
-
I don't think I've ever listened to The Nervous Set.
-
I must remedy that.
-
DR John G. - read this today:
Virtually every major city in Texas has set early voting records, with over 9 million having voted. (18.6 million are registered.)
-
One more.
-
PAGE SIX
-
Not eight, but better than four.
-
Good night, friends.

And others.
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
Thanks for the page turn.
-
Thanks for the page turn.
Yes, excellent page-turn, singdaw!
-
The thermostat is set at 80. It's 9:40 pm and the AC just came on.
-
Play was ninety minutes, no intermission. A two-hander about Leni Riefenstahl meeting Walt Disney but with each actor playing multiple characters. The Disney scenes seemed ludicrous to me and the whole thing didn't hang together. Actors were good but the director allowed a bit too much schmacting, especially on the gal's part. Set and lighting were good.
-
Stopped at Gelson's on the way home and got a small half rack of ribs - small being the operative word - came home and ate them.
-
Answered a lot of e-mails.
-
Going to try and watch something. If Disney+ had a free trial I'd watch the John Williams doc, but they don't.
-
Good night, all.
-
I have never even heard of The Nervous Set.
-
I came into the room and the missing birdie was sitting on top of the cage. I dropped a hanky over him and then returned him to his home.

Hooray for the safe birdie return!
-
Page six.
-
Pick up sticks.
-
Just for kicks.
-
But seriously, get me off this damn page.
-
Where's George?
-
Must be burrito time.
-
Or Miller time.
-
Or Phyllis Diller time.
-
Certainly, I'm killing time, which makes it killer time.
-
Still no George.
-
Not very sporting.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
I'm sure we're somewhat close.
-
Close to the turning of a page.
-
VERY close.
-
See?
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
Hopefully, George will be along soon.
-
Be back momentarily.

George hath arrived.

Perhaps he was in the bath for he hath arrived.
-
Or doing math before he hath arrived.
-
Or finding a new path before he hath arrived.
-
Will we get off this damn page that shall not be named?
-
Not unless we all pull our weight, and I personally have plenty to pull.
-
That won't stop me from having a few potato chips, though.
-
It's just done.
-
Why must George disappeareth like this.

A couple of posts and he's done his duty, kind of like an old married couple trying to keep their sex lives alive.

He's left the damn room, for heaven's sake.

I feel it.
-
And George is gone AGAIN?
-
How can it be?
-
What exactly is he doing?
-
Well, I'm here.
-
Today after the show, we all went to the RAM Restaurant in Tacoma, snd here we are:
-
And dammit all to HELL, we WILL have page eight make its entrance.
-
Well, most of us.
-
Page eight has finally made its entrance and just in the nick of time.
-
Whew!
