Well, you've read the notes, the notes, like the geography, ran amok, and now it is time for you to post until the amok cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LUSTER!
-
Last night, I totally zonked out. ::) SPOO!!

Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
At least there's a long weekend on tap. We're off for Veteran's Day on Monday.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm very down. Part of it's post-election malaise, I suspect, and some of it's my anger and sadness over Peanut and Fred, but most of it's finance-related: not enough work, not enough income, and a general fear the next four years will get financially worse unless something major comes along to change that.
-
On a positive note, Jen is coming down this morning to help me set up my new printer. I hope it all goes easily.
-
DR George, I hope you can resolve your mail box problem today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hi John. What fun stuff are you doing today?
-
Finishing up Sally Rooney's latest, Intermezzo, this morning. I like her writing, and this has the plus of using chess as a structure/metaphor throughout.
-
Hi John. What fun stuff are you doing today?
Planting bulbs.

TOD
Kanopy has added Ennio, the documentary about Morricone. That and a Quincy Jones doc have some appeal. Don't know how much time I will have.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t have anything interesting to report for the TOD, but I will affirm that LA’s geography, among that of many cities, is particularly mistreated.
A great contemporary example of them not giving a flying Wallenda about the geography is the show “9-1-1”, in which Hollywood, Burbank, downtown LA, the Santa Monica pier, and other easily identifiable locations are but five minutes apart from each other… and the emergency responders are never more than a couple of minutes away from the scene and always get through the traffic just fine. It’s quite miraculous, and this even extends to locations in the mountains surrounding LA.

DR singdaw that is a sad statement you made but it seems true.

I have been watching some videos from Jolly (Josh & Ollie) two British guys. They travel to the U.S. and do stuff.....and take American food stuffs back to England where it is tasted for the first time by British high schoolers.

Good morning from Barstow.

Friday...AGAIN!
Where do the days go?
Good morning anyway!
-
Luster, eh?
Like "the luster has been removed from our future"?
Was the election "Luster's last stand"?
Or is it more along the lines of "movies today are lack-luster"?
-
I have zero plans for today.
Happily, that includes appointments.
I must get all my ducks in a row for the coming weeks. My cataract surgery is next Thursday. When i get my colonoscopy I have three days of "not" taking certain meds; and then I'll have about a week for my second cataract surgery.
I have thought about Christmas in all of this and have decided there will not be any extreme measures of decorating. A wreath on the front of my house and some flameless candles in the front windows.
-
I know that Thanksgiving is in there somewhere, but I can give it a pass.
-
Other than all the malcontent I have just displayed, I am doing well. Slept very well.
It's another gray day in the CSRA. We have had quite a bit of rain over the past two days.
Helene cleanup continues. Every day, I notice local yards are becoming tidier. This area is a wood lover's paradise. Many folks have had fallen trees cut up and stacked alongside the road. If anyone needed/wanted firewood, they could have it free of charge and be most welcome to it.
-
We actually have a bit of sun here today.
-
It is 44 degrees headed for 64 degrees, but I don't think we'll make it.
-
I forgot!
Seven years ago today, I reaveled around 6:00 to upper Manhattan to pick up a kitten I had seen, loved, and applied for on the Saturday before. I felt that Annabelle needed a playmate, and I found him at a Petco adoption. His name was Thatch, and I had to travel to his foster's apartment to pick him up. The adoption approval came though on Nov. 7, which was also my parents' wedding anniversary, and I remember making the subway trip after checking out the locale on Google Maps. I liked the fostering couple, and they were fostering several young cats including Thatch's sister. I wish now that I had adopted her, too.
Twenty days later, our DR ChasSmith came to visit and take the official photo of Thatch and his daddy.

Lumbricus terrestris
On a day when the world is weighty,
dark and dense with need,
I want to be the earthworm
that gives itself over to tunneling,
its every movement an act
of bringing spaciousness.
And when minutes feel crushed by urgency,
I want to meet the world wormlike,
which is to say grounded,
consistent, even slow.
No matter how desperate the situation,
the worm does not tunnel faster
nor burrow more.
It knows it can take decades
to build fine soil.
To whatever is compacted,
the worm offers its good worm work,
quietly bringing porosity
to what is trodden, compressed.
So often, in my rush to repair,
I end up exhausted.
Let my gift to the world be
my constancy, a devotion to openness,
my willingness to be with what is.
Let my gift to myself be patience
as I tend what is dense and dark.
“Lumbricus terrestris” is from “The Unfolding.” Copyright © 2024 by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer.

DR singdaw that book does look like fun.

Wordle in 4 - or did I already say that.

I thought I’d share a poem that made me feel a little better.
-
I made some ribs (boneless) with some Italian diced tomatoes and a freshly chopped green pepper and some bacon bits.
They turned out pretty good.....so I'm set for at least a couple of days main dish wise.
-
Very nice DR JOHN G.
"...willingness to be with what it is....." is good advice.

Good morning from Barstow.
Hello.

I woke up to excellent news, our congresswoman was re-elected and the nazi failed once again. She won by a slighly larger margin this time. I wish the margin had been greater.

DR MichaelG, did you see John Adam's Girls of the Golden West? I see the recording got a Grammy nomination today.
Yes, we saw the premiere in San Francisco. Adams extensively revised it after the premiere and before that recording was made. We liked it better than most of the reviewers did, but it sounds like the changes were for the better. I haven't heard the recording.

The 9-1-1 finale last night included a recreation of the Tom Cruise dance from Risky Business by one character.
It was pretty funny.
-
I'm ashamed to say I'm a couple of seasons behind on 9-1-1, AND on Lone Star ... if that one is still running.
I do look forward to a binge catching-up one of these days.

Had the small Marco's Pizza for food - haven't done that in a long time.
-
Just didn't feel like going out.
-
I think we're all feeling a bit of a malaise right now.
-
Had a fun day that started with planting bulbs.
-
Met some friends for a late lunch.
-
The place we had planned to meet changed to winter hours this week, so naturally they were closed.
-
Next door was a place called The Tiny Dinner and it was open.
-
I had an old-fashioned griddled burger with fried egg, bacon and mozzarella on top.
-
I was very happy.
-
From Tiny, it was on to the Little Bake Shop about 10 miles down the road.
-
Sampled their strawberry-rhubarb pie, coconut custard pie and coconut cream pie.
-
All were excellent.
-
Four!
-
I could be very happy with that burger, too, DR John G.
-
Then drove back to the hacienda because it was 3:30 pm and getting dark.

I'm okay with that. But there are things that didn't get done, that should have gotten done these past couple of days (not necessarily my fault, either), which means Monday is going to be a b-- a b-- a BEAR.

Hello, everyone.
-
The post-election malaise has hit me, too. I’ve never been as emotionally invested in an election as this one. Several of “my” candidates didn’t make it. All ran close races. But some did win, thankfully. The real winners, of course, were those organizations collecting ad dollars.
-
Glad your congresswoman won, Jane.

Good evening from Sacramento.
-
Good evening, Sacramento! Talked to my aunt yesterday who is cat-sitting in Elk Grove. My uncle, her late husband, was my go-to guy to talk to when I needed wisdom and perspective in trying times. Talked to her though, and we both had to admit despite missing him, we were a bit glad he didn’t live to see this.
-
One thing I pledged was I’m not going to spend the next four years waking every day to new shocking developments. Can’t feed that beast anymore. Not good for my health. So I downloaded DuoLingo and am learning French.
-
I’m glad to have this pleasant little corner of the web to visit.

-
IS THERE AN ECHO IN HERE?
-
Not very sporting.
-
Of course, George won't be back for ages and then it will be the jam or the burrito.
-
I had my little Marco's pizza at one o'clock - nothing since - kind of hungry. Maybe I'll have one of them onion rolls with some butter, Maybe I just will.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
I watched a documentary, which I finally realized I'd already seen but it was still riveting.
-
Watched a movie I'd never seen before, one of those American Film Theater things from the 1970s.
-
It was very good and not at all what I expected it would be.
-
Show order is done. I think it should work well. Was a bit tricky but in the end it's fun.
-
And VERY eclectic. They've already sold 100 seats.
-
We're hoping for three to four hundred.
-
Is there an echo in here?
-
Guess I should write some damn notes.
-
Don't really feel like it.
-
But that's never stopped me.
-
Nothing can stop me now.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
I’m glad to have this pleasant little corner of the web to visit.
MOST definitely agree!! :D
-
Well, tonight we had a sold-out show, and it went well...for the most part. ::)
-
Something got missed and skipped, and the actors took maybe 30 seconds or so to get back on track, but it was pretty obvious that something was wrong.
-
But that's live theater for ya, folks! :))
-
Anyway, it all ended well and the (did I mention that it was full?) audience enjoyed the show.
-
Tomorrow night, the actors need to be at the theater and in costume by 6:00 so that production pictures can be taken.
-
I think I'll try to get there by 5:30 because I hadn't heard if anyone else was going to be there early to open up the space.
-
My friend Shelly will be seeing the show, so sadly, she'll have to be there two hours early, too.
-
My friend Margo was going to see it, but she's ushering for a show here in Olympia, so she won't be able to see it at all.
-
She doesn't mind so much since I'm not acting in it.
-
And neither do I.
-
Only two more performances and then it's over!
-
...and I'll finally get paid! :D
-
;)
-
Of course, George won't be back for ages and then it will be the jam or the burrito.
I'm home and have posted...surprising, ain't it?? ;D
-
Watched a movie I'd never seen before, one of those American Film Theater things from the 1970s.
Which movie? I've been thinking about getting the set.
-
It was very good and not at all what I expected it would be.
That's always a good thing. :)
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
