Well, you've read the notes, the notes had two tales that were told, and now it is time for you to post until the two tales of two tails cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PREHENSILE!

Wow, they just made Grubhub+ free for Amazon Prime people. No delivery charge, half-price service fees. This is excellent news.

Although, I'd rather have Uber Eats+
-
Still, a nice little perk.
-
A happy perk.
-
In fact, the perk perked me right up.

Good morning, all!

I was feeling pretty good when I turned off the lights around 8:30. From that point on, it was sheer hell: I could not get to sleep, my bladder was working overtime and I was constantly getting up, to Thatch's disappointment - to use the facility. Some tiome after midnmight, I finally dozed off, only to wake around 2:00 wioth the distinct impression that I had better get to the bathroom ASAP. I made it barely, and I was violently sick for the next 30 minutes or so. When things calmed down, around 2:45, I returned to bed where I lay awake for the nexct four hours whgile all three cats came to visit me.
-
Annabelle wanted to warm up under the blankets, Thatch wanted to cuddle and play in a cavern he created, and Stella just wanted to ie beside me. Around 5:00 I turned off the alarm and decided to sleep until I wanted to get up. By 6:30 I was still awake and I figured that was enough effort.
-
I rescheduled tomorrow's doctor's appointment and moved it to Thursday. I plan to spend most of the day lying down and hopefully sleeping.
-
Last night I tried to watch a film from 2011, The Deep Blue Sea, based on the play by Terence Rattigan. I gave up after 30 minutes. Rattigan was a good playwright; the play had to be better than this drivel.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It already feels like a Hell Week, and that’s not till next week.
Which is a very good thing.
-
People don’t call it Hell Week like they used to ten or twenty years ago. Now it’s just Tech Week. Even in schools. Maybe it’s time to bring Hell Week back.
-
DR Jrand74, what do they call it in Pawnee?
-
Notes reaped. Sowed.
-
I watched a good film yesterday that I’d never heard of but probably some of you have.
Career
Starring Anthony Franciosa as a guy who dreams of a big life on the stage but can’t seem to catch a break or see one when he does catch it.
Dean Martin is great as his playwright pal who big-times him. Shirley MacLaine burns up the screen as usual.
Very fun film to watch for theatre lovers, those with the calling. Also, gets a little into the blacklist, albeit in a halfassed manner.
Carolyn Jones also great as Tony’s agent.
Recommended and free on the tube of you.
-
Wishing you a blessed Hell Week, Chas.

And better tum times for Elmore.

Franz Waxman!
Yes.
I saw "Career" on NBC's Saturday Night at the Movies" or, perhaps after they began "Monday Night at the Movies". That was great in the early 60s to see stuff I'd never seen or heard of but which had been major films from the 1950s. They first started with Fox titles, and they moved on to MGM and Paramount titles.
We are now spoiled, I guess, by such channels at Turner Classic Movies and loads of other venues for watching film, including YouTube, which has some really terrific films free of charge.

Terrific night of sleep. Dreams aplenty and slightly weird but nothing negative or puzzling.
It's a gorgeous day here in Johnston, South Carolina...a small dot on the map of the CSRA. That's okay. We like being out of the spotlight here. Living is easy, folks move along slower than in cities and big towns, and we get along.
People here wave at you if they drive by your house and you are in your yard; they wave when they pass you in your car; folks speak to you in public with civility. The grammar is quite often horrifying, but you don't let them know about that.
-
I don't know if I should be doing this, but I have been driving a bit "without" my eyeglasses.
Yesterday, I found I did not require sunglasses.
It's a freedom I have not known before. I like it.
I eagerly await Dec. 12th for my second surgery!!!

Good news DR RON PULLIAM.

DR CHAS SMITH here it has always been and will always be HELL WEEK.

I watched a movie ONDEMAND on TCM last night.....28 Paces To Baker Street...
it was bad bad bad.....the whole plot didn't make any sense.....and the leading man was directly responsible for the death of two people.....whereupon he said something like "Ooops.....my bad....."
Bad all around.
-
This morning’s noir is Call Northside 777. James Stewart as a reporter looking into an old case.
-
Both Call Northside and 23 Paces were Henry Hathaway movies.

Over here it's still Hell Week. I'm starting mine for our Hanson / Copland chorus concerts this weekend. Concert hell weeks aren't nearly as brutal as opera hell weeks, but it's still pretty intense.

I do miss reading in bed at night without glasses.

I have a laundry basket on top of my dryer.
Since April it has been full of shorts and other summer pants.
TODAY I switched it out with a different basket that contains LONG sweat pants and sleeper pants.....because it is after all NOVEMBER.
The basket of shorts now resides in the closet where the basket of long pants had been waiting since last spring.

A Russian ballet dancer fell out of a fifth story window and died. In Russia, they don't mess around, boy!
There was a case in thė 1970s or 80s where a NY City Ballet (?) dancer got high on drugs and danced out a window. I think it happened in the Village.

Goodreads has released their list of books to vote on for the year.
-
I am busy trying to read a number of the books listed that I haven't read yet.
-
As usual the category with the most books that I have read is "historical fiction".
-
I haven't read any of the books in the "fiction" category, however, I am waiting for one of them to be available from my library.
-
I have the book on my to read list as it is also a "debut novel" and I try to read those and support new authors.
-
George, I wish I had read The Mercy of Gods when you suggested it as it has been nominated in the SciFi category. I'll try to read it before the first round voting ends.
-
Keith also got Wordle in three.

Now starting another noir from another box set. This one is The Lineip. Eli Wallach is the bad guy. It involves heroin in a doll, which vaguely resembles Wait Until Dark.
