Well, you've read the notes, the notes got physical, and now it is time for you to post until the physical cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LENIENT!
-
And now, Dino at the piano.

Good morning.

John G, that pie in last night's posts looked delicious!

Good morning, all.

Playing bells this morning.

Good morning, friends.

And others.

An uneventful night.

Just the way I like 'em.

Sardines.

Sardines do not go with cranberry pie.

That I know of.

But I could be wrong.

What's up, Doc?

Duly noted.

Around midnight, I woke with the feeling I was going to be sick, so I lay there, wondering if I really needed to take the long walk to the b athroom. It's a walk I could once do in 30 seconds, and now it takes me, holding a cane in one hand and support with hte other, maybe 3 minutes.
-
I finally decided I'd better get to the bathroom before I had a physical disaster in bed on en route. So I made Stella and Thatch move so I could get out of bed and made my way to the bathroom, where I stayed for the next 30-45 minutes waiting to be sick. Nothing happened, so I made my way back to bed and lay down. Thatch and Stella returned, and I lay there, wide awake because my sleep patterns were messed up. I never was physically ill, but my body keeps sending out signals that something's off-kiltre.
-
The alarm rang at 6:00. I turned it off and tried to get back to sleep. 45 minutes later, I decided I was better off getting up.
-
DR vixmom and JohnG, I really am jealous that you both saw this King Lear. I've loved Kenneth Branagh ever since Henry V, although I'm not sure I trust him since he began working with the maladroit Rob Ashford. I hope you had a fabulous evening last night.
-
That's enough of me for now.
-
I hope you feel better today Elmore.
-
Good morning, all.

I’ll have to say hi and bye. It’s HELL Day.
Actually, the painters are coming to finish up and clean up, and I’ll be leaving for HELL Day even before they do.

Yes, for sure!

I finished watching FLARE-UP last night. A fairly silly movie that I think wanted to be more Rat Pack-ish than it is, but kind of fun, and like I said, the location shooting is good. And honest.
-
Then I pulled out yet another Warner Archive DVD — I’m three for three, people — and watched ISLAND OF LOVE, also for my first time. Robert Preston and cast are fun. It felt too long for what it was, but hey. Nice Greek locations, assuming that’s where they really were.
-
Oh. Wait. Maybe that’s the one that wanted to be Rat Pack-ish. I can’t keep them straight.
-
But okay, now I must say my leave. Got things to do before heading to the theeder. Have a good Sunday, everyone.
-
Vibes for Elmore.
-
Laura, I’m with you on the gravy.

Yes, for sure!
Larry, have you ever checked if Medicare will get you overnight home help?

For whatever reason, I was not sleepy at my usual time last night, so i started listening to music.
My first turn was with "Jerry's Girls".
For whatever reason, however, I turned to Billy Joel and revisited his greatest hits, of which there are many.
Around 2 a.m., I began getting sleepy, and so I retired. Dreamed lovely dreams and am now up and ready to face the 24th of November. Does it seem to anyone else that this has been the longest month of the year. Certainly, the most disappointing of my life.
We have Thanksgiving to look forward to. One week from today, i begin the cleansing leading up to my colonoscopy on Monday week.
-
I entertained myself last night by watching "Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger" narrated by Martin Scorsese. Fascinating stuff.
I've seen so many of their films, but there are many I have not.
-
I did manage, yesterday afternoon, to haul a considerable batch of recyclables to the local recycling center.
We had a beautiful day.
I decided, upon completing that task, to treat myself at McDonald's in Edgefield.
A quarter pounder without cheese, a large fries, a large coke and two pies were ordered. One of the pies was apple, while the other was the seasonal (and untried by me) Holiday Pie.
The Holiday Pie is a sort of custardy filling in the same sort of crust as the apple pie. It tasted all right, but not a pie i will ever order again. Too sweet for my taste.

Yes Sunday.

Surviving the HELL day vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

Feel better vibes for DR ELMORE.

Crunchy gravy?
I think not!

I will probably get a haircut tomorrow.
Tuesday afternoon is a celebration of life for a cousin of a cousin - so an almost cousin.
And a week from today is our Christmas Meeting of the Bored, and I want to look nice....well as nice as possible.
-
Well.....HHW always amuses me.
Of course at the top is MR BK who has a writing style that can be so funny and make even the most mundane activities amusing.
BUT there are many things that make me laugh.
My topic for FREE FOR ALL DAY is: What stories told by the Dear Readers here have amused you the most whether from subject or style?
-
I will start with the story about DR VIXMOM stopping in traffic and a boy with a cello trying to get into her van.

I greatly enjoyed Lear last night, my seat made it a very immersive experience, I was in the 2nd row o e seat from the aisle in the center, but the seat next to me was empty.
-
The actors kept using the aisle during the show
-
Also in the front row the three center seats were vacant so no heads to obstruct the view
-
The actors also used the aisle in front of the first row
-
I found all of the actors' performances quite excellent, I am very happy go have been able to see it.
-
I'm currently back on the train to see the final performance of sex variants
-
Health vibes to Elmore
-
Laura i think your husband has very exciting culinary ideas
-
Don't do it
-
Thanksgiving dinner should be comforting and traditional, not exciting and avant-garde

Maybe I'll wordle

Glad you enjoyed it, Vixmom. We, too, sat on the aisle but at the back. Branagh made an exit right by us.
-
vixmom, your seating situation of no heads in the way and lots of arm room and leg room reminds me of when, through a variety of circumstances, you ended up with the best table in the house all to yourself with no obstructions in your way and plenty of breathing room for Skip's concert at 54 Below back in the day.

A few weeks back, I last-minute got tix to see my beloved NJ Devils play in town. On Ticketmaster you can get from the venue or from people re-selling. I found a pair of resales that looked decent. Turned out they were 2nd row, right along the glass, and nobody sat in front of me. Best hockey tix o’ my life. Saw a hockey fight up close, Devils beat the Canucks easily, and I was even on TV at times. Life was good.

I remember going to see a very in-hot-demand show that was directed by Tina Landau, and when I was picking up the tickets and said my name Fred Landau, they seemed to think about it and then upgraded me to what had to have been unused house seats. Maybe they figured "he may or may not be related to Tina Landau, but just in case he is...' There was no other logic to the upgrade.
-
Thanks for the theatre repor, DR vixmom.

I don't have a life, so I live vicariously through you.

Wow, working on a Sunday. This is great!

Pieces of cashews in gravy sounds better than lumpy gravy ;D
-
I don't eat gravy, even when it has mushrooms.
-
DR Laura you can always give your DH a little side bowl of chopped cashews to put in his gravy ;)

I'm in the first row center in the choral terrace. There will be a tall tenor to my left and another tenor my height on the right.

I have started The Restaurant of Lost Recipes, the second Japanese mystery novel about father-daughter chefs who find lost recipes for customers. It could be s childhood dish or something from a trip, but the food always has a deeper meaning to the person than merely the dish itself. They’re fun, short and rewarding, even if I am not always familiar with the Japanese ingredients or dishes.
-
I am looking forward to the concert featuring DR MICHAEL G......it is still almost a couple of hours away......MT.
My Time.
-
What a great theatrical experience DR VIXMOM and DR JOHN G.
I will be expecting my picked up from the floor Playbill next week.

It is 59 degrees here which is the predicted high temp for the weekend.

Watching Bathing Beauty, an Esther Williams swim flick. Harry James and Xavier Cugat provide the music. It’s nothing, but it swings.

Headline.....Jon Benet Ramsey's Father Cautiously Optimistic About Finding Her Killer.
Why doesn't he just look in the mirror? Or directly at his son?

Red Skelton mansplaining to a group of women how a woman gets up in the morning isn’t funny.

Much better than the crooked brother I did have! :)

I don't think he did it. Possibly his son. They have DNA now so I don't know why they don't just rule out if it is a match to them or not.

LOL DR RODZINSKI.....maybe I should start using DR FREDDIE's name at my local theeder venues.
Jon Landau of TITANIC and AVATAR fame was related to Tina Landau. Passed away so young, though.

Shortly, I'll go do a Gelson's run - perhaps a salad from there, or something. If not, I'll get something from somewhere.

When I saw Paul Robeson on Broadway with Avery Brooks, I bought a ticket from a woman standing in front of the theater. I cost me $40 and I was literally 4th row center! It was amazing! Truly one of the theatrical highlights of my life!

Good evening.

My DH has never eaten gravy. He cannot tolerate any kind of sauce or gravy, except jarred spaghetti sauce.

The potluck was a success. All my yellow squash, roasted baby potatoes, and biscuits and gravy disappeared.

And I did not get elected to any positions in the meeting that followed.

I wasn't nominated for any positions, but I still consider that a win.

Congratulations, Laura.

Starting a creaky melodrama called Once to Every Woman. Ralph Bellamy and Fay Wray in a hospital. Thankfully, it's only 66 minutes.
-
Had a good Cobb salad from Stanley's.
-
Hadn't ordered from there since May.
-
Did a quick errand.
-
“There’s one disease no hospital can cure: old age.”
So says the old doctor in Once to Every Woman.
-
I'm gonna finish the From a Dark Place movie, then watch something else.
-
I will not be stopped.

Nothing can stop me now.
-
I'm full from the Cobb.
-
Wouldn't it be fun to have corn on the cob with a Cobb?

I'm already tired of hearing about the movie of Wicked.

And I'm sure the movie of Wicked is tired of hearing about me.

And so it goes and goes it so.

Here's a new NY Times article on what's involved for the intricate presentation of the SUNSET BOULEVARD title song.
"6 Minutes. 62 People. 1 Epic ‘Sunset Boulevard’ Sequence."
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/22/theater/sunset-boulevard-broadway-outdoor.html
-
Page Seven.
-
Kinda like the mailroom in How to Succeed, the first rule of page 7 is “Don’t get stuck on page 7.”
-
And so we move on…
-
Enjoying Marlow Murder Club, but it feels a little rushed.
-
Fun cast though.
-
In Marlow, the lead character takes a newspaper clipping off the wall and reads it. The camera shows the back, except there isn't one. It just shows the back of what she's reading. One-sided newspaper? I don't think so.
-
Ah, that page that shall not be named.
-
Finished the movie.
-
Watching some irritating YouTube videos.
-
Too late to start another movie.
-
And so I shan't.
-
Don't try and make me.
-
Finished the first season of Marlow. The ending was no surprise. Sadly. If you’ve read Patricia Highsmith, you might have guessed it.
-
That’s it for me tonight.
-
Good night, all.
-
And I did not get elected to any positions in the meeting that followed.
Congrats, Laura!
-
I wasn't nominated for any positions, but I still consider that a win.
Congrats, again! ;D
-
I'm already tired of hearing about the movie of Wicked.
Yesterday, I heard one of the songs from the soundtrack, and it was...just okay.
-
It was like the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd: the notes were all on pitch, but there wasn't much life in the performance. :-\
-
Hopefully, seeing the movie will tie everything together, but just listening to that one song, I wasn't engaged.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!

Sorry, I probably haven't purchased a portable CD player in about 20 years.

Atomic power: Phone battery promises 50 years without charge (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/atomic-power-phone-battery-promises-50-years-without-charge/ar-AA1usvxI)
:D

Why would they want to essentially put themselves out of business, though? ::)
-
The point is planned obsolescence so that they can stay in business and sell more batteries.

I'd also like to know if it could be scaled up to power cars and other vehicles.

THAT would really make it worth it.

I wrote them.
