Most excellent DRIVING VIBES and eye surgeon VIBES for BK today.
-
I got through my prep rather well, I thought, and was done by 9:30 p.m.
Went to bed at 10:30 p.m., but awakened at 2:30 a.m. and my mind began trying to make me sleep while other thoughts took priority.
Around 4:30 a.m., stomach gurglings began.
I thought I was "done" with the prep, but the prep wasn't done with me.
My ride will be here in 40 minutes or so, and the procedure is scheduled for 7:15 a.m.

Having been deprived of vegetables the past three days, I think I'll spend my lunch time eating nothing but...

I'm having issues this morning with Safari and HHW: I keep getting "Safari cannot open this page." WTF?

DR Jeanne, your friend's approach to music is strange. I feel there's more interest in musical wallpaper than interest in the music, from your comments. She has no serious interest in any composer, so I'm going to throw out some wild suggestions.
Vocally, I think she'd be more interest in crossover than, say, arias, so here are some ideas of this I personally think are wonderful:
Pavarotti's two album with Henry Mancini

My idea of "housework" is giving the room a sweeping glance.
-
Leaving soon for some choral rehearsals at a middle school/high school. Back this afternoon, and then I actually have a blessed night off.
Tomorrow, it's the rehearsals again and then a concert in the evening. (I offer this in support of the theory that it never ends.)

My idea of "housework" is giving the room a sweeping glance.
LOL!

Congrats to DR GEORGE on his millstone!

Driving, MMM, and appointment vibes for MR BK.
-
I liked Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a lot.....but I have never heard the commentary. Perhaps I should buy a used DVD copy.
-
Here is my idea for a cable/streaming network:
Playing DVDs with the commentary!
It will be the hit of every television!
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
As you can tell I watched a couple of more MST 3K movies over the weekend.
-
I would have slept another hour save for whatever reason my mind going to very dark places when I got back into bed after using the ool.
-
I have been remiss in flipping my calendars.
I will also say there is a shortage of 2025 I Love Lucy Wall Calendars on both Amazon and Ebay.....so I had to buy a weird one that will be difficult to hang.
It's more of a booklet type.....
-
DR VIXMOM thanks! Let's wait for awhile until you get a few more.....no need for you to go to the post office at this particular time!
Thanks for the repor.

TOD: The Skybar and Toffifay candy bars were favorites for long periods of time.
Fun fact: in Canada Toffifay is called Toffifee!
-
BK, I wish someone were picking you up after your procedure.
-
TOD: I mean I’ve probably eaten more Twix and Kit-Kats than any others, but I have a fond memory of Marathon bar. On Saturday nights, we kids would have our baths, Mom and dad popped corn on the stove for us to eat while we watched our fave TV lineup, culminating in the Carol Burnett Show. And as an extra goodie, my dad had usually brought us all Marathon bars. It was a caramel “braid” covered in chocolate. One foot long, you could see by the ruler on the wrapper. Good days.

TOD:
Zero bars
Heath bars
Almond Joy
Mounds
Reese’s
Mallow Cups
-
I could use a candy bar now.

But first, a nap.

Maybe.

No plans.

Gratuitous post 99!

TOD:
Zero bars
Heath bars
Almond Joy
Mounds
Reese’s
Mallow Cups
I'd forgotten the Zero bars and Mallow cups. They were great!
-
Speaking of food from days gone by, the McRib is back and I had one for lunch. It was really good!
-
I don't remember the first candy bar I had. All these candy bars that have been mentioned, were they just favorites or actually the first bar you ever ate?
-
TOD: The Skybar and Toffifay candy bars were favorites for long periods of time.
I don't remember either of these candy bars. Even though I wouldn't have been able to eat a Toffifay bar, I would have know about simply by the fact it wasn't safe for me to eat.
-
When I was young I could eat Almond Joys, even a Mounds bar was something to avoid though it wasn't life threatening.
-
TOD: I mean I’ve probably eaten more Twix and Kit-Kats than any others, but I have a fond memory of Marathon bar. Good days.
I didn't care for Twix bars and don't remember Marathon bars.
-
TOD:
Payday! All of those peanuts!
And Three Musketeers and now and then a Heath Bar.
I skipped Payday, preferred Milky Way and Snickers to Three Musketeers but still didn't say no to them. Heath Bars, yum.
-
TOD:
Zero bars
Heath bars
Almond Joy
Mounds
Reese’s
Mallow Cups
On this list, just the Heath Bars for me.
-
Butterfingers might have been my favorite.
-
I preferred Look Bars over Big Hunks but ate them both.
-
Abba Zaba Peanut Butter Taffy Bars.
-
Abba Zaba Peanut Butter Taffy Bars.
That even SOUNDS like it would be fun to eat!
-
LOL, they were fun to eat.
-
Crunch and Mr Goodbar.
-
I can't think of any more candy bars that I ate regularly.
-
TOD:
Milky Way
Three Musketeers
Nestle Crunch
Kit-Kat
These days it would be a Milky Way Midnight, though I have indulged in the others at Halloween time.
-
Back from all manner of things.
-
Left two hours early and let Google Maps guide me.
-
Up from that nap.
-
They had me go a strange way to the 405 - haven't done it in ages and wish I hadn't done it this morning.
-
Why?
-
I'll tell you why.
-
Because there was this huge WIDE LOAD truck next to me who just couldn't stay in his lane and went into my car, which made a horrible sound. I honked at him, and what did he do?
-
He turned left before I could get a photo of his truck or the license and was not in a position to get over to turn left. S out of luck, as they say.
-
Marmaduke Bonthrop Shelmerdine, Esquire
A character’s name in Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. Orlando calls them Shel for short.
-
I'll call the insurance company and get their advice.
-
But the drive to the appointment was pretty easy for all that worrying. It's hard to know what it would have been like thirty minutes later, but I made it in forty-seven minutes, a little over an hour early.
-
The part of the drive I was most worried about turned out to be a piece of cake.
-
The examination took about an hour - VERY thorough testing of the eyeballs, but no dilation. I do have to have the open MRI and he wants me to have one more thing of bloodwork just to rule out one very long shot possibility, so I'll be told when that is going to happen. I have another appointment in six weeks and he'll have all the info he needs at that point and then we'll discuss how to proceed from there.
-
Very nice doctor.
-
TOD:
Zero bars
Heath bars
Almond Joy
Mounds
Reese’s
Mallow Cups
I'd forgotten the Zero bars and Mallow cups. They were great!
Back in the 90s, I bought a Zero bar from the then candy machine at work and they (the Zero company) were having a giveaway, and I won a portable CD player! :D
-
Then I came back to the Valley, a much quicker ride. I went directly to the bank. My gal was out sick, there was one guy who'd apparently been with the teller for forty minutes and the other teller wasn't usually a teller but was trying to pick up the slack. So, I was in there about fifteen minutes.
-
I already had one, so I gave it to my dad. :)
-
Then I went to my bank - just one person in line ahead of me but only one teller and for the second time some jerk who'd been there forever doing heaven knows what. In fact, he was STILL there when I left after a second teller opened and the gal in front of me was done. Anyway, that's all done now.
-
Is George having a day off?
-
After that, I decided to go to Chin Chin and I got peanut noodles and Chinese chicken salad. Way too much food to eat all at once, so I had half of each and will have the other half in a few hours.
-
Speaking of food from days gone by, the McRib is back and I had one for lunch. It was really good!
I had one a couple of days ago. I never "loved" them as much as my sister (back when she ate meat she loved them), but I did enjoy it.
-
I kept seeing the word payday when reading posts and I thought everyone had gotten a check.
-
Then I realized that it was the candy bar.
-
TOD: I mean I’ve probably eaten more Twix and Kit-Kats than any others, but I have a fond memory of Marathon bar. On Saturday nights, we kids would have our baths, Mom and dad popped corn on the stove for us to eat while we watched our fave TV lineup, culminating in the Carol Burnett Show. I didn't care for Twix bars and don't remember Marathon bars.
I remember Marathon bars, but I don't remember the braid part of it, unless I'm just remembering a different bar, thinking it was a Marathon bar. :-\
-
Growing up, probably due to the incessant commercials for the, I loved the big three - Three Musketeers, Snickers, and Milky Way.
-
Couldn't get enough.
-
This page is flying by, like a gazelle eating a frozen U-No bar.
-
You know.
-
I know.
-
We all know.
-
Is George eating a burrito for lunch?
-
Nope. I just looked it up and the braided Marathon bar is NOT what I was thinking of. I'll have to do some research to see if I can find what I was thinking of.
-
And that's been my day so far and I'm exhausted.
-
Oh, and the damage to the motor car - one long deep gash from the bumper to just before the front door. Thankfully, it's very low and doesn't show too much, but it's bad.
-
Is George eating a burrito for lunch?
I actually had a burrito for lunch! I just finished it and it was quite delish...if just not quite warm enough.
-
I did not, however, take a picture of it. ::)
-
And I hope Mr. Wide Load gets all the karma he's due for fleeing the scene of an accident that HE caused.

He deserves it.

And more.

The Chinese chicken salad from Chin Chin is weird but good.

our fave TV lineup, culminating in the Carol Burnett Show.
Was this in the All in the Family - Mary Tyler Moore Show - Bob Newhart Show - Carol Burnett Show days? (and the other half-hour comedy in there was in flux)
That was one heck of a Saturday Night lineup!
Precisely. Newhart, MTM, Carol.
-
I did get mine with the queso. :)
-
I do not care for fish in tacos.
-
Not my thing.
-
Peanut noodles are definitely my thing, but I prefer them cold.
-
Nope. I just looked it up and the braided Marathon bar is NOT what I was thinking of. I'll have to do some research to see if I can find what I was thinking of.
I remember now! For some reason, I was thinking of a Charleston Chew. ::)
-
Dopey me! ;D
-
George, that's great that the Zero Bar paid off with a nice giveaway!
-
BK how badly is your car damaged?
-
Butterfingers might have been my favorite.
Ditto! I loved (and love) Butterfingers! I also really like Baby Ruths.
-
The aforementioned Zero bar from which I won the CD player was literally the only time I ever bought one. I haven't even had one since.
-
Abba Zaba Peanut Butter Taffy Bars.
My aunt Mary Lou really likes the Abba Zaba bars.
-
Crunch and Mr Goodbar.
Add these to my list, too! As well as a Three Musketeers.
-
They had me go a strange way to the 405 - haven't done it in ages and wish I hadn't done it this morning.
That's too bad.
-
Because there was this huge WIDE LOAD truck next to me who just couldn't stay in his lane and went into my car, which made a horrible sound. I honked at him, and what did he do?
NOOOOOOO!!!! :o

Very nice doctor.
That's great!
-
Oh, and the damage to the motor car - one long deep gash from the bumper to just before the front door. Thankfully, it's very low and doesn't show too much, but it's bad.
That's terrible! Maybe your insurance company can find witnesses?
-
And I hope Mr. Wide Load gets all the karma he's due for fleeing the scene of an accident that HE caused.
You should also file a police report. Show them the damage and that might get some witnesses.
-
I do not care for fish in tacos.
I like them, but I had ground beef in my burrito today.
-
George, that's great that the Zero Bar paid off with a nice giveaway!
I know! And my dad used that portable CD player for many years. :)
-
Good afternoon.
-
I just made baba ganoush. I have no idea if it is good or not since I don't like it. But I used up four eggplants from my vegetable box.
-
Next up will be mini chocolate zucchini breads. That will use up some zucchini from my box.
-
And maybe some lemon crinkle cookies, to use up some lemons.
-
Glad to hear that MR BK's appt. went well.
Incensed outraged about the hit and run.
-
How could I forget a Zero Bar?
-
Well computer mavens of HHW.
I need to get a couple of pictures of the intersection at Pico Blvd. and 14th St......pictures that show the street signs - ideally in one picture.
I tried to do a screen shot of the Google maps, but all I could get was an HTML file and I couldn't convert it to a jpeg.
When I sent it through the online converter, all I got was a jpeg of the website instructions.
Strange....
-
Well I may have found a way....time will tell.

Thanks very much for the book information, DR John G.

With our recent cold snap, the Mississippi has started to ice over. The eagles will probably have to move south to hunt.
-
Having some more Chinese chicken salad. Even weirder after sitting in the fridge for four hours.
-
:)

Thanks very much for the book information, DR John G.

Good night, friends.
-
And others.

PAGE NINE
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
I’m watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s the first time I noticed that the other kids act like Charlie, even though they’re down on him. Schroeder, for example, says Good grief, just like Charlie.
-
Watching a movie - another HOUR to go.
-
Finishing up Orlando. I read this 30 years ago. I had forgotten so much, especially the humor and a condescending tone.
-
Virginia Woolf's archness is sometimes annoying.
-
Spellchecker just changed Woolf to Apple. WTF?????
-
Good night, all.

SkyBar is some kind of Boston thing. I only had it around there.
-
Whatchamacallit used to be a good bar.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I have to do the candy bar topic again sometime.
-
VERY popular with the populace.
-
The movie was pretty bad, even though some of the actors were good.
-
Just take the worst of Woody Allen's drama talkfests and multiply it by 100 and you have the movie I saw, written and directed by someone who has, over and over again, stated his obsession with - Woody Allen.
-
Two HOURS of it.
-
We have been on this page for a VERY long time.
-
George has been on a posting tear today - I have to believe that he has made more posts today than ever before. Good job!
-
If everyone did that, we'd be on page 20 :)
-
How can we still be on this damn page when page 10 is waiting in the wings?
-
Then Never-ending Story.
-
That Chinese chicken salad is not digesting well and there's some spice in the dressing that's not great.
-
I tried some of the leftover peanut noodles but they don't age well so I threw the rest out.
-
So, half a Chinese chicken salad and less than half of the noodles. That's it for food today.
-
What other candy bars did I love growing up? Abba-Zabba.
-
Page ten has made its entrance.
-
BK i am very sorry to hear about your accident and relieved it was not worse.
-
To hefty mitts, I must say and have said.

Anything with peanuts or almonds in it like Payday, Hershey with almonds, Almond Joy, etc.
-
You might also contact the entity in charge of traffic control in that area and see if they caught the incident on a traffic camera
-
Almond Roca was a favorite, although not really a candy bar - more of a special treat.
-
I don't know what my first candy bar was, probably a Hershey bar.
-
Baby Ruth.
-
But my favorites were, and are, Heath bars and Butterfingers.
-
Never really cared for Butterfingers.
-
It is late and I must sleep
-
Good night all
-
Used to enjoy Flicks because you got so many in the package.
-
Oh - Tootsie Roll was something I liked every now and then.
-
Oh, M & Ms.
-
Oh, loved Look bars.
-
George has been on a posting tear today - I have to believe that he has made more posts today than ever before. Good job!
Thanks, BK, but I'm pretty sure that today will not end up being my highest posting day. ;D
-
I didn't have them often, but I liked Big Cherry.
-
That Chinese chicken salad is not digesting well and there's some spice in the dressing that's not great.
Oh, no!
-
I tried some of the leftover peanut noodles but they don't age well so I threw the rest out.
Yikes! :o

Ooh, forgot about Chunky - nuts AND raisins.

Ooh, forgot about Chunky - nuts AND raisins.
Not a fan of raisins, especially in chocolate bars. :P

Did like that three-flavored coconut thing.
Yeah, those were good.
-
I don't ever remember having an O Henry bar as a kid.
-
How could I forget Rocky Road - had those quite a bit - weird but not bad.
-
Not a candy bar, but I quite liked Sugar Daddy.
-
Enter page eleven.
-
Not a candy bar, but I quite liked Sugar Daddy.
Wish I had a Sugar Daddy. ;)
-
There are lots of online places that sell these things still - but they don't quite taste the same because they use different ingredients now that are cheaper.
-
:))
-
Wax bottles amused me no end.
-
That reminds me, speaking of candy, I got a lovely early birthday gift from Freddie and Skip today.
-
One of my all-time favorite candy bars I didn't discover until the 1970s from the UK - Cherry Ripe. I may have to order some.
-
Better write some damn notes.
-
Just ordered the mini-Cherry Ripe bars from Amazon - not too many calories if you eat only two. I put them in the freezer. They'll be here Thursday.
-
Sugar Babies were good too.
-
Yes, loved Sugar Babies.
-
Notes are written.
-
I need to lay down on the couch and do my leg exercises before bed.
-
Plus it helps my back, which is tired from all the sitting at the computer like so much fish.
-
Where'd George get to? I thought he'd be with us and continue his excellent posting day, but noooo.
-
He was led astray.

Did you order the 10 KG (352.74 ounces) bag for only $232.70 (https://www.amazon.com/Cadbury-Australia-Cherry-Ripe-10kg/dp/B01562AJOI/)??
;)
-

I did get distracted, but then I searched Amazon to see what the Cherry Ripe bars are. They look pretty good.
-
It's only nine bucks - order some - you'll love 'em.
-
Yeah, I noticed that jerk who was selling for that price.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Yeah, I noticed that jerk who was selling for that price.
Actually, ounce for ounce, they're much cheaper...$0.66/ounce vs. $1.42/ounce for the $8.99 pack.
-
Of course, you have to buy 10 KG, but then I noticed that shipping for that is $137.25! :o
