Isn't EVERY day National Cookie Day?

Good morning, all!

On Facebook, Anastasia Barzee just sent me advice about Stella's diarrhea issues. We've been FB friends for a long time, and I've always wanted to work with her.

Isn't EVERY day National Cookie Day?
If it's not, maybe it should be!

I slept okay. Annabelle and Stella slept most of the night with me. Thatch arrived around 4:00a.m., and then Annabelle crawled under the blankets to get warm. Those three cats sure take up room!

This morning, my colleague Jason is coming by to see if he can repair my email issues. I am so hoping he can succeed.

Good morning, all.

I’m actually thinking of making cookies today, specifically Mom’s Lebkuchen. I found the Santa cookie cutter and even some Santa pictures to place on them.
-
I will be modifying the recipe though to my tastes. No candied orange peel either no waxy citron. I’ll use citrus zest and dried fruit instead.

Good morning

Do apple cider crullers count as cookies?

I used to look forward to going to the movies at Christmas. The big awards contenders would open. There was excitement about a new movie like Raging Bull or Ordinary People. Even the flops seemed to have something interesting about them.
-
I looked at the movies coming to or playing in San Antonio and Wicked is the only one that sparks even the slightest interest.
-
Anf my interest isn’t all that great.

Good morning, all.

Last night's little concert went well, and I had a pretty solid sleep.
My sleeping is never as long as I'd like, but that just seems to be a fact of life these days.
-
Kitty cleanup is over, and I need to make the bed. Curiously, all of the Ben Bagley revisited albums have vanished from my iTunes.

TOD:
Bruce, does your auto insurance not cover rental cars when you have an accident that is not your fault?

DR Jane:
Those Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars are the very ones I buy at Sam's Club (along with my Fat Boy ice cream sammiches). I love them!!

DR singdaw:
I was informed I shouldn't drive for 24 hours, but I didn't swear it or sign a pledge not to.
I knew it wasn't advisable, but I was very desperate! DESPERATE, I tell you.
Plus, traffic in this two-traffic-light-town isn't risky. The (Don't-Be-A-Square-Eat-At-the) Triangle is a two-minute drive from my house. I have to cross one main road to get there, but there are major traffic gaps along it that a drug-addled mind can navigate.
I had food in the house, of course, but I did not want to cook.

We had a new visitor this morning. Kristi says it's a baby barred owl. Barred is the type of owl. It's maybe 20 to 30 feet away from our window (I zoomed in about as far as my phone will go), and he's (or she's) huge, like, maybe a foot tall? I said that's a baby? What does the mother look like?? Even bigger apparently, like, up to twice that. Anyway, it was up there having a snooze, in the crisp morning 24 degrees Fahrenheit air.
-
Okay, so Showmance plays on every cliche in the musical book. But it’s every cliche that musical theeder fans will enjoy. And a few dollops of sex.
-
Beautiful photo, ChasSmith.
-
This is more realistic in how far away, and still how big, it was.

Congrats to MR BK on his millstone.
Quite an accomplishment.

It's worse than I thought.....Make Room For Granddaddy has 25 episodes.
-
Finished the prologue for the play - so now all I have to do is merge the documents.
And of course this isn't generally known, but I co-directed the film version of WICKED, but I took no screen credit for it. Enjoy!
-
It is 36 degrees headed for 42 degrees, I will take that.

AND wordle was a bust for me again this morning.

It's worse than I thought.....Make Room For Granddaddy has 25 episodes.
Are there parallels to the infamous sitcom LIFE WITH LUCY, described on imdb as "Lucy Barker is a grandmother who constantly gets into comedic predicaments while living with her daughter's family"
-
DR FREDDIE Life With Lucy was wrong from the beginning - but it wasn't preachy like this is.....
This series gives us what must have been DT's opinions on what was happening NOW including - living together without being married [until the end of the episode of course], women's rights, teen girls staying out late, race relations [he hired Rosey Grier as his pianist and hilarity ensues including some shucking and jiving by Kathy and Linda, entertaining the boys with Bob Hope, all of Frank Sinatra's girlfriends, and more Uncle Tanoose - whose episodes I fast forward through.....etc etc etc.
The grandson just comes on now and then to lisp out something funny.....and runs upstairs.
-
It was produced by actor Richard Crenna who talks about it here.

For LIFE WITH LUCY, there was hilarious slapstick like Gale Gordon getting his tie stuck in something, and we at home worrying that he might just keel over before our eyes.

DR Freddie:
I revisited "Hair" this morning.
It wasn't "White Boys" who were delicious; they were "pretty".
It was "Black Boys" who were delicious in that song!

Wednesday morning greetings! After a couple of days of commitments, I now have some time at home. So far today I have managed to pack the fall decor into its orange storage tub.

Thanks for that info, John G!
-
DR ChasSmith, your visitor is a beauty! We had some kind of hawk here yesterday. The squirrels and little birds sure made themselves scarce.
-
DR GINNY Fall is fleeting.
-
DR FREDDIE I couldn't even look at Gale Gordon in Life With Lucy.
He was enormously fat and his face looked like Oliver Hardy.....and the physical things he did were not funny - and his blustering was even more irritating than it was in The Lucy Show....
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is your favorite Sherman Bros. movie title tune?
-
DR GINNY Fall is fleeting.
Yes, DR JRand, it’s time to deck these halls with boughs of holly. On Sunday we switched to our Christmas dishes, so we’re getting there.
-
DR Geore, I can easily pass on Dove chocolate.
-
George, I figured that Bruce meant you hadn't posted during the day, which is different than late night posting :)

From DR Rodzinski:

Anyone want to buy me the new iMac 24" with M4 chip and 1 TB of storage for birthday or Christmas? :) Just surprise me. I like the green.
-
This computer has basically had it - 2015, completely outmoded, three operating systems old, everything takes forever, it won't load things properly, it crashed every two weeks, etc.
-
After this morning's texts, I've had it, too.
-
And frankly, this damn page has had it, too.

See?

Good morning. Just barely.

Good choice MR BK.
If I win the lottery I will certainly buy you the computer.

Well, my surrogate son Jason, whom DR ChasSmith has met, is a genius. My email server is back up and running, so all of my (feared lost) emails are back, and I have a printot of instructions on how to access the server. Hallelujah!

DR ChasSmith, I love the owl!
-
OMG!!! (for DR Elmore's email)
That's incredible. Congratulations!!!
-
DR ChasSmith, I love the owl!
He's still there! Since at least 8:00 this morning!
Snoozing, but wakes up and looks around every now and then.
-
Kristi says he'll be waking up as it gets toward dusk and will head off ... to ... wherever they head off to.
-
Probably the Owl Night Bar.
-
Congrats to DR ELMORE on the email retrieval!
-
The prologue has been merged.
I am going to give the play one more read thru and make some minor changes here and there.....probably tomorrow....and then send it off to the theeder.

In Ashland we lived up a dirt road. One night, just after dusk, we turned onto our road and followed an owl flying right in front of us. It was one of those wow moments that didn't last long as it quickly flew away.

DR FREDDIE the same theeder where we had the reading in June.
I emailed the Artistic Director to thank her again and asked her if she had a hard copy of the play she could send me. I forgot to pick one up the day of the reading. I mentioned I was making some changes in it.

It was also VERY hard to swallow and now my throat feels a little sore on the left side. Or maybe I pulled a muscle somewhere.

But it was pretty good.

However, it seems (to me) that he also doesn't know who Stephen Schwartz is, and that he has over 50 years experience of writing music, especially for Broadway and theeder, and really does know what he's doing. ::)

And speaking of theeder, I just came across this audio-only video of Shinbone Alley (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NNT436Oogs8), the 1960 Play of the Week, starring Eddie Bracken, Tammy Grimes, Jules Munshin.
-
Here's the description of the video:
Shinbone Alley was a 1957 Broadway musical adaptation of the characters of archy and mehitabel created by Don Marquis, written by Joe Darion, George Kleinsinger, and a young Mel Brooks who helped Darion with the book. Though the show only played for 49 performances and 9 previews on Broadway, it was adapted for the NTA Film Network's series Play of the Week in 1960. Tammy Grimes played Eartha Kitt's role, Eddie Bracken reprised his role as archy, and Michael Kermoyan, Sondra Lee and Jules Munshin were also in the cast. J. Robert Blum and Ed Greenberg directed the piece for TV.
Though no video is known to survive, there is audio of the musical numbers (and some of the dialogue) from the telecast, which is presented here.
Taken from a vinyl record copy of the songs.
