Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 5:30, I turned it off, and went back to bed. I dozed, Thatch jumped onto me, and I decided it was time to get out of bed. It was 6:00. Since then, I've done the emails and read yesterday's posts, fed the cats and myself, and now I'm here.
-
Yesterday's project, with which Jen came down and helped me out, was to finish Wednesday's project: holiday CDs. On Tuesday, I spent too much time looking for several collections of holiday music. The CDs, which had been sitting on a sgelf were filrthy, covered in neglect and dust for the past year, so Tuesday's project was to clean them off - and there are a lot! - ankd dig out of storagew a Bankerhold them. Wednesday's project was to get them all opff the two shelves and sort them into two areas: one area was CDs I would keep, sorted into categries: instrumental, classical vocalist, pop vocalist, compilatioons, etc. The other are was what I no longer wanted to keep.
-
Around 6:00, Wednesday nightCDs I wanted to keep went back onto the shelves and the rejectsa went into the Banker's Box carton; it's also aboutr time to begin my cleanup to turn over to our DR ChasSmith books and CDs for Connectiocut libraries. I like this project because at the end of it, our DR ChasSmith comes into the City, we visit, the cats pester him, and it's a nice day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
So, yesterday's project was to get this heavy carton of holiday CDs off the floor and onto the pile of storage cartons, only there was a problem: I can no longer pick up a carton off the floor and lift it onto a stack of other storage cartons. I no longer have the balance or the ability to kneel, pick up[ a heavy carton and rise with it. So, I sent Jen an email asking if I could have 10 minutes of her time. She came by with Oscar, er adorable little dog, to check out the job before she walked him. I explained the project, she left, and about 30 minutes later she showed up and put the carton away. I guess that was my project for the week. Ten years ago, trhat all would have been my project for the day.
-
Today's project: take the trash and recyclables to the basement, pick up several days of postal deliveries, and think about a possible Book 3 in the Annabelle & Thatch saga. And get bthe laundry ready for the weekend ordeal.
-
BK, good wishes for a successful dental outcome.

Good morning.

Well, people enjoyed some of the Lebkuchen yesterday. It wasn’t exactly Mom’s recipe, but it was close enough.

Today is the Christmas party for USAA retirees. And it’s clear across town.

TOD
With all the recent talk about Saturday Night Live, I'd been hankering to take out my DVDs of the first five seasons and have a look for the first time in more than a decade. So finally last night I pulled down the first box and watched disc one, the first three episodes.
Wow. We sure do tend to remember the good and forget the bad and the ugly. But I was in the mood to fully experience it, and experience it I did. These early shows really have to be seen again, straight through, to be believed. It's astounding how "quiet" or almost "ordinary" they are, nothing like the hype of the recent movie would lead you to believe. (Full disclosure: I haven't seen it yet, I'm just going on what I've read and heard.) It's just a whole different vibe from what you think you remember when you've been used to the really wacky sketches and general mood of it in later years.
-
So the show will live on in infamy.

DR elmore3003, how do your three get along with Oscar?
Oscar was an abused dog until Jen and Ann rescued him. He's become so attached to as his mother and protector that she and Ann are working seriously hard to allow them time away from him. When they went tro see Wicked last week, they smuggled him into the theatre in a shopping bag and he spent the entire movie lying in Jen's lap.
So, to answer your question, when Jen comes into the apartment, she never lets Oscar out of her arms, and he has no bad reaction to my two terrors Annabelle and Stella running about and wanting to play. Jen's last dog Nora and Annabelle were friendly, but she doesn't feel secure enough about letting Oscar and the cats interact.

I'll leave here in about thirty-five minutes and be on my way to the dentist for dentistry.

I'm a bit nervous about pain, but let's hope it's not bad. And unless I'm nuts, perhaps the salt water helped because the swelling seems to have gone down a bit.

Good morning, again.

BK, I had to go in again after one of my crowns. I just went into the office and asked if he could take a quick look, because it didn't seem to be healing.

I expect it did help, plus the fact that you stopped flossing.

I think he scraped some glue-type stuff off.

Damn. All along, I'd been forgetting this, but DR Laura's comment about her crown made me remember:
Once when I had a temporary crown on a molar way back in my mouth, I had a lot of irritation in the gum or cheek for the next day or two, and it took me a while to get the idea to look in there with a flashlight to see if I could see anything. Indeed, there was a piece of something tooth-colored kind of sticking out of the gum around the wisdom tooth next to the crown, so I got my finger back there and found out it would move. I thought it wasn't really part of anything, but even if it was, I had to find out so I began pulling on it. Sure enough, it began coming out from under the gum and it turned out to be a long sort of spirally piece of -- I dunno -- some material obviously left in there by mistake. Maybe a glue thing, who knows. It seemed to have nothing to do with the crown, but it had been cutting into my cheek and feeling like a bad canker sore. Well, everything IMMEDIATELY felt better, felt right, and that little episode was all over.
Having now remembered that, I can't wait to hear what BK's issue turns out to be.
I rinsed it off and kept it for a couple of days, thinking I'd show the dentist, but I finally said why bother, who cares, it's resolved. But I wonder if I took a picture of it. Hmm...
-
Back from the dentist and bank.
-
I suspect when the huge amount of Novocain wears off there will be a lot of pain. The culprit was tartar - a HUGE piece stuck up there. He thinks he got most of it out of there but boy did he have to work at it. From what little I can feel, it's still is a bit swollen but that's probably natural - he said about 70% was already down, swollen-wise, and he wants me to do the warm salt water thing later, so I will, even though I hate it. I'm going to attempt to take two Tylenol now, but am worried that I won't be able to swallow properly yet - we'll see. He also gave me a prescription for amoxicillin if I need it. Up to me. So, we'll see how I'm feeling after rehearsal ends. If it's okay I won't get it, if it's really painful, I will go to CVS. I do believe all medicines are covered by insurance, so it's free.
-
That's been my day so far.
-
Managed to get the Tylenol swallowed.
-
Obviously, no food until after rehearsal. I would love some creamy tomato soup but I'm sure the idiotic nearby Gelson's won't have it. On the other hand, it's clam chowder day everywhere so I might have a bowl of that from someplace.
-
Oy! Wow.
The dentist recently left me so numb that I did indeed have trouble holding liquid and keeping my mouth closed and swallowing right without dribbling or spewing all over the bathroom. I accidentally looked in the mirror and there was some idiot making a stupid face.
-

Went to USAA retirees Christmas luncheon today. There were 1,000 in attendance. The place was huge. The air conditioner was set at some Arctic level.
-
Wow. Did you have a nice time?

I dreamed the other night thst it would be Thanksgiving food, and it was mostly: a roulade of turkey and cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans.
-
I sat with a friend and her brother and sister, all of whom retired from there.
-
Her brother had the most hilarious story about his Thanksgiving. He and his wife hosted her family. Apparently his nephew’s wife picked up his phone for some reason and discovered that he was having an affair. A scene ensued in front of the whole gathering.

Gratuitous post 99!

There's that line which sometimes I see attributed to Mel Brooks, sometimes to Woody Allen - "Tragedy is when I cut my finger, comedy is when you fall into a sewer and die."
-
I ended up getting the amoxicillin and took one as a preventative. I love when you present the insurance card and it costs - zero.

Then I stopped at Gelson's and they DID have my creamy tomato soup, so I got some and had that for food - easy to swallow and negotiate.

Swelling is still there, but I'm hoping between the drug and the warm salt water thing that it will be gone by Sunday.
-
Trying to figure out some kind of something soft for food after rehearsal, as I'll order now for then.

Watching a book auction right now - very little of interest for me even if I wanted something because the condition isn't to my liking on most of it. But always happy to see something I own go for nice money because my copies are usually primo, unlike these.

~~~CONTINUED DENTAL VIBES~~~ for BK
I guess I'm confused, though. I though amoxicillin was an antibiotic, to prevent infection. I didn't think it did anything for pain.
I ended up getting the amoxicillin and took one as a preventative. I love when you present the insurance card and it costs - zero.
Nice. How many days is it for since you are supposed to complete the round once you start.
Not that I have always done that.
Keith hasn't had a change to Wordle yet since we were making the rolled eggplant.
-
He thought we were going to make it tomorrow morning, however, I protested that it is too much work and the fried eggplant will make the place smell.
-
We are both relieved it is done. All assembled and ready to go in the oven tomorrow.
-
To all of you who recommended Rao's pasta sauces, than you.
-
I purchased the Tomato Basil as it was the closest to the sauces I used from a restaurant in Michigan. It was a good choice.
-
Yesterday I noticed their Caramelized Onion and purchased a jar just in case I didn't have enough sauce.
-
As planned we used the Tomato Basil for coating the pan, rolled the eggplant with the angel hair petso filling with the intention of topping it with the basil sauce. Instead we opened the caramelized onion and it was so delicious we used it instead.
-
SIX!
I now have a cake to bake. We are having issues with our oven and only the bottom is heating up. Wish me luck.
-
And two must do what two must do.
I’m making a blueberry-raspberry crisp. It says to bake in an 8x8 pan. So, of course, the photo shows a 9x13 pan.
Either way...yum! ;D
The lobby just opened, so it's time!
-
Salt and water in the mouth is disgusting.
I agree.
And I forgot my fork.
A fork in time saves nine.
Or something of the sort.
-
Or so I hear.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Thank you, DR Rodzinski, the commentary on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was fun.
-
That's it for me.
-
Swelling begone vibes for BK.
-
Good night, all.
If anyone has their Ruthless CD handy - need to know where we recorded it. I don't think it was at one of our usual studios - my memory tells me the Valley, but maybe it really was Westlake .
-
Bruce, there is a YouTube video of you in that recording studio.
Perhaps you’ll be able to recognize it.
Lindsay Ridgeway had the most amazing voice!
Met her many times, and she was lots of fun, along with her pet rabbit.
It’s Dec.7 here on the East Coast.
I think that means it’s Jane’s birthday.
Happy, happy, birthday, dear Jane! 🎉 🎶 🌹 💐 🎂 oh, and 🍆 for dinner!
I will be in and out of the hospital over the next few weeks.
Have a great surgeon and medical team.
-
Will try to stop in, but want to wish everyone here at HHW a glorious holiday season, and a Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah ( same day as Christmas this year) to all who celebrate!
-
I've never seen that video of the Ruthless session. Certainly, we're not at Westlake Audio. My memory is we were somewhere in the Valley, maybe Track Recording - that would be my guess. We're all so YOUNG but that's thirty years ago, baby. 1994.
-
I was still thin.
-
And had no gray hair.
-
And there's Marvin Laird (gray hair), who just passed away yesterday.
-
Fun seeing that.
-
Wordle in four.
Very nice, Jane.
New notes are written.
BK, the description says:
Recorded in Los Angeles, California at NRG Studios North Hollywood, February 15th to 22nd 1994.
-
BK, when did you record Bernadette Peters' song?
-
Not looking forward to the saltwater rinse.
-
We recorded Bernadette on the last day after everyone was gone. She was a lot of fun and very quick.
-
Will try to get to bed by twelve-thirty or one.
-
That's the goal.
-
And that was a post. So we had a goal post. We don't allow groaning here at haineshisway.com.
My back hurts from this damn chair.
Earlier tonight, I ushered for God is a Scottish Drag Queen: The Christmas Edition.
He was a hoot, as usual! ;D
My head hurts a bit but I don't want to mix Tylenol with Amoxicillin.
If you ever get a chance to see him (there are YouTube vids!), go!
I'm tired.
-
Gratuitous Post #250!!
-
Tired as a three day old egg roll.
-
Tired of being tired.
-
He's quite irreverent and swears up a storm! :D
-
Highly recommended by the likes of me!
-
One is not to be admired for being tired.
-
If one is wired one is not tired.
-
Tired as a three day old egg roll.
Yikes! :o That's tired!
-
Can you be fired for being tired?
-
Midnight is upon us.
-
And we are upon midnight.
-
And you know what THAT means.
-
Tired of being tired.
