Well, you've read the notes, the notes were noteworthy and spoke of Kritzerland 130, and now it is time for you to post until the 130 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VALIANCE!
-
Congrats on the successful Kritzerland show, and the pictures in your notes were wonderful!

Good morning, all!
-
BK, I'm, giving you the bad news first: yesterday was the first day of your 78th year.
-
BK, the show sounds absolutely wonderful, with several of my favorite holiday songs sung by several of my favorite singers.
-
I met Kerry, just after finishing he Broadway run in White Christmas, at the 40th birthday party for the show's conductor, Rob Berman. I also loved her in the Encores! production of Promises Promises. Why haven't you produced a solo album for her?
-
Last night, thanks to DR John G, the cats and I decided to watch Eloise at Christmastime, which I was surprised to find charming and untimatelymoving. Even with padding, Julie Andrews is way too pretty for Hillary Knight's wonderfully drawn Nanny. I loved Gavin Creel and wish he were still around to record The Prince in Jubilee. I particularly loved his "Winter Wonderland" with Eloise. The dog was perfect casting.
My first NY trip was the Christmas break, 1966, and the slush when you stepped off the curb was higher than your ankles. Perhaps it's that first trip that makes NYC in December and January the only place I ever want to live in. Given all my cuirrent mobility issues, I haven't been too crazy about living in New York, but the movie reaffiormed my love for this amazing city.
-
Then, we switched to Netflix and began The Merry Gentlemen, which was everything Eloise at Christmastime was not. It was one more "leading person gives up Big City to return Home to find happiness," onl;y it was worse than the Hallm, ark movie it emulated. I lasted 30 minutes before I turned it off in disgust.

In Paris this weekend, Tramp once again promised to pardon the Jan. 6 criminals and stated 6 committee membners - Benny Thompson, Liz Chaney, etc. - should b e jailed for persecuting him. The punishment for treason should be death, and it's a pity Merrick Garland to move and a bigger pity that Tramp is still alive.
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Kritzerland show sounds wonderful, and the pictures are great. Congratulations!
-
On this coast, our little show is plugging along. Two weeks down and two to go.
-
As I was saying.
-
Happy belated birthday to MR BK.
-
On Friday I got an email telling me that for NO extra charge, I could switch to a different kind Xfinity account and increase my download speed.
And I would get a free new modem. I signed up.....
And then suddenly my old modem wouldn't accept the new speed and I had NO internet.....
Then suddenly this morning, I do. Although my new modem will not arrive until between 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. today.
A mystery.
-
Great to hear how well the Kritzerland show went last night!
-
I loved the terrific descriptions and photos in today's Notes by bK!
-
TOD: The appetizer that springs to mind is (are?) pigs in a blanket, or more accurately frankfurters in a blanket.
-
Other appetizer favorites of mine are deviled eggs
-
and Skip makes a delicious concoction called Gougères, which I see google seems to refer to as French cheese puffs
Here's a wikipedia entry on Gougères

That must have been perplexing.
Did your old system get shut off when you asked for a new system?
-
Jrand, did you still have Internet available from another source while that happened?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Belated birthday wishes to Adrienne Stieffel!
-
I wish and hope there are videos, especially of Kerry singing Winter Was Warm.
-
The power went off for five minutes last night after I went to sleep. Not cool when you're hooked up to a machine.
-
Onward!
-
Two!
-
TOD 1:
I prefer a ton of appetizers to one main course. I guess I like grazing. I know I like dim sum and tapas. Some Asian favorites include shrimp dumplings, Singapore dumplings in broth, chicken satay, spring rolls, daikon cake, clams in black bean sauce, pea shoots with garlic, egg custard cups.

:( Oh no!
Hoping you had no bad physical effects from that, thought I assume it had to be worrisome not knowing how long it would take to come back on.
-
Elmore, I am glad you liked Eloise at Christmastme. I was super surprised the girl who played Eloise wasn't cloying. It could have gone so wrong.

That sounds like a fabulous meal of appetizers!

It was also good that BK's double-sevens (77th) birthday yesterday ended up with postings well beyond page 7, all the way to page 10, along with a most successful Kritzerland holiday show.
-
https://www.classicfm.com/music-news/videos/pretty-yende-amazing-grace-notre-dame/
This is beautiful. So is the video of the mezzo singing La Marseille outside Notre Dame, but that video cut off the last note.
-
The current St Jude Childrens Hospital has a CW singer singing "I'll Be Home for Christmas." I do not know who he is, but he must be a star or celebrity because his raw-toned portamento style of singing hurts my ears.
-
A lot of country sangers do that to me, too, DR ELMORE.
-
It is 50 degrees heading for 53 degrees and RAINING.
-
I enjoyed reading about the Peacock Holiday Show.
-
DR FREDDIE my phone sort of worked.....but my Xfinity television service that originates at the modem did not.
It started working last night, but I didn't check the inner web until this morning.
My new modem is OUT FOR DELIVERY.

-
That was my first encounter with Eloise. Having found it on a 78.

WICKED got four Golden Globe nominations.
https://playbill.com/article/wicked-film-gets-best-picture-golden-globe-nomination
Best Picture (Musical or Comedy)
Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
Cynthia Erivo (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy)
Ariana Grande (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role)
-
Does that bode well for its Oscar chances?
-
It's not unusual to have 100 or more Guests reading the HHW board overall. That number often goes up to 400 or more.
But 7 Guests in today's posts, as there are right now - that's somewhat unusual.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
I was born on my dad’s birthday. Was always fun sharing that.
That's nice. I was hoping Bryan would arrive on my birthday but he waited 16 days.
-
DR Vixmom it sounds as if your creamy soup should have come with a warning that it was hot ;D
-
Keith & I cannot do spicy.
-
DR Laura what did you do with the five pounds of potatoes?
-
I expect the 8 year old was also cuter than most of the adults.
-
DR John I love ginger cookies and those look delicious. I think they are a cookie that tastes better cool than warm.
-
Got my new T-shirt!
-
Congrats on the successful Kritzerland show, and the pictures in your notes were wonderful!
DITTO!
-
I'm up, I'm up - have no idea how much sleep - maybe six hours - rough night in Jericho.
-
Thankfully, builders weren't too bad this morning.
-
Catching up on e-mails.
-
Enter page three.
-
Looks like no Golden Globe nominations for the film of August Wilson's THE PIANO LESSON.
-
My modem arrived and of course I had to call to get help setting it up.
But I got a good technician and everything seems to be working.
I also got a new TV plan that will save me some money.....they say.
Time will tell.
-
Congratulations on a wonderful holiday birthday show, BK, I wish I could have been there!
-
Elmore that is an adorable t shirt

Skip makes the most amazing devilled eggs i have ever tasted .
I am quite sure I embarrassed myself at one gathering by eating more than my fair share
-
Skip very kindly shared the recipe with me, and although I can never quite recreate Skips version, they are still darn good
-
Scallops wrapped in bacon sound lovely
-
My mom makes a very good hot crab dip
-
Hot as in warm, not spicy
-
Shrimp cocktail is always nice
-
And I like those little quiches they often pass at parties and weddings
-
And of course the old standby cocktail franks
-
Currently I'm eating my leftovers from last night's hibachi dinner
-
Jane the soup wasn't creamy , but there was no warning about it being spicy

I took five pounds of mashed potatoes to the church party.

THOROUGHLY MODEM JRAND - That could be the name of something, couldn't it?
-
Jane the soup wasn't creamy , but there was no warning about it being spicy
I meant to put quotes around "creamy" ;D

Any reactions to the new Jardiance commercial?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tigKn7iqwg
They've fixed the misplaced accent on "the little pill with a big sto-REE to tell" at the end of the ad, from previous versions.
-
I haven't seen any of the commercials to compare them, didn't know what the drug was either. The comments were interesting ;D
-
I haven't seen any of the commercials to compare them, didn't know what the drug was either. The comments were interesting ;D
I could fill a few posts on the way to page 5 with the various Jardiance commercials, so why not? :)
-
Here's the first Jardiance ad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aromts0OiHs
-
This was the second Jardiance ad, which took place in an office setting, where perhaps a condition of employment was having A1C issues (?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMHMU0YPFEc
-
This was the third Jardiance ad, this time with a male lead singer, and everyone's doing yard work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vk2b1Nl19k
-
This was the fourth Jardiance ad, a re-do of the one that takes place in an office setting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_u1_Y-Nz7Q'
-
The fourth ad is captioned "Jardiance Commercial #3 (2024)" - meaning it's the third version for 2024.
-
And that got us to post #100!
-
So they had the first version in 2023, then four versions in 2024.
-
DR Laura what did you do with the five pounds of potatoes?
I took five pounds of mashed potatoes to the church party.
You didn't leave any for your DH ;D
He's on the A1C-reducing journey. No potatoes for him.
-
I wonder if a jury will convict him.
-
I imagine it will be a long drawn out case DR LAURA with shenanigans on both sides.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE.
-
In the course of the phone call to Xfinity I learned that my tech, Xavier, is going to college in the Honduras, is studying architecture AND Law, has a grandmother one year older than I, and had a girlfriend who wanted to have a baby with him but he refused - he didn't want to have a child until he graduates from college.
But that's all I could find out.
-
I've been trying to stay off sugar and have been pretty good - way less than usual anyway. Doing exercise every day.
-
Had the tiny Marco's pepperoni pizza for food.
-
Lots of phlegm today.
-
Shortly, I'll be on my way to the mail place.
-
Got approved for either a full MRI or the head and shoulder open MRI, which is what I'll be doing. I'll book that tomorrow, and then wait to hear about the additional bloodwork thing, and both should be done before my next appointment with the eye surgeon - and it's my hope that we can book the surgery at that time.
-

It's more than just cutting down on sugar; it is cutting out refined carbs. White flour, rice, sugars, pasta, and processed foods.
Complex carbs, such as fruit, are fine.

Trying a new appetizer tonight. It’s a hot Mexican street corn dip. Smells wonderful.
-
TOD 2:
I’m a sucker for any seafood snack: oysters on the half shell, cold seafood tower, shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, bacon-wrapped scallops, radishes wrapped in anchovies, anchovy-stuffed olives, smoked salmon, smoked trout dip, salmon deviled eggs, lobster salad of any sort in pastry cups, or a buffet with all of the above.
-
Back from the mail place - just two envelopes and a couple of screeners that don't sound that interesting to me - Challengers and Nickel Boys. I do want to see Nightbitch but I'd have to watch it on the computer and that's just too uncomfortable.
-
Off to a surprise birthday party.
-
Builders are working late today. Unusual.

I didn't get a new computer for my birthday.

DR Laura what did you do with the five pounds of potatoes?
I took five pounds of mashed potatoes to the church party.
You didn't leave any for your DH ;D
He's on the A1C-reducing journey. No potatoes for him.
I need to go back on that diet.
-
I've been trying to stay off sugar and have been pretty good - way less than usual anyway. Doing exercise every day.
Less sugar, more exercise will likely make a difference.

I'll book that tomorrow, and then wait to hear about the additional bloodwork thing, and both should be done before my next appointment with the eye surgeon - and it's my hope that we can book the surgery at that time.
At Thanksgiving our host had recently done an open MRI of his head. He said, because it was his head, opened or closed wouldn't have mattered and he was sorry he hadn't done the closed since it is more accurate.
-
It's more than just cutting down on sugar; it is cutting out refined carbs. White flour, rice, sugars, pasta, and processed foods.
