Last night I watched 3 Women which I had never seen.
It is very weird.
I spent the night on the couch, so I won't catch it from Grandpa.
The first decongestant did not let me sleep much last night. I’m probably going to be a mess today.
I watched 3 Women last night, too.
Confession: This was my first time seeing it, and though I've even had a copy of it here for YEARS without once putting it into a player, I never really questioned what it would be about. I always figured it would be a nice drama about the relationship between, you know, these three women, and though I like most of Altman's films just fine, this one was somehow always relegated to the "someday" pile. So the chance to lie in bed with TCM presenting it to me was perfect.
Oh, my. My, oh my.
For the first hour or so I was nearly in agony, waiting for the train wreck that was bound to occur with Duvall and Spacek. And then, and then...
Wow.
I shall have to let it "settle" and "digest" and then return to it for a second viewing sometime soon.
Saturday. I shall go to the drugstore today to pick up a prescription and then continue down the street to get a Family Bundle at Burger King since my coupon expires tomorrow.
It it lasts me at least three days!
Although it is a LOT of bread.
DR CHAS SMITH & DR JOHN G - yes I have to think about it.
Just when I thought I had it figured out or I knew what was going to happen - it didn't - but something ELSE did.
I liked the music.
And Janice Rule is a favorite of mine - but it was a....well....an Altman performance.
This morning was filled with setting up the new computer. Which worked, and is now complete.
Imagining the Gershwins in the hereafter as their heirs do anything for a buck :)
There are someones who we long to berate
Woe is our fate;
Make them think straight
The ones who watch our estate
All we want is for our heirs to behave
It feels like they’ve
Deepened our grave
The ones who watch our estate
Although it’s not as big an earner
As Rodgers or Lerner
Some props for the folks who create
You would think they had no food on their plate
Couldn’t they wait?
Oh how we hate
The ones who watch our estate
Well, I guess I can be glad now that I was extra busy on Christmas; Grandpa and Aunt Sassy caught Grandson's cold.
Good health vibes for DR Laura and family!

In about 20 minutes XANADU will be displayed on TCM with its perfect host, Dave Karger......
I have a dead friend who was alive then who did some dancing in the film so it's nice to see a few seconds of him. He had some fun stories to tell.
Put on your pants, Spartacus.
I picked up a vegetable box this morning. Our first in a while. DR John can help me figure out what to do with it.

Kanopy just added it and Fanfare d’Amour, which Wilder used as the basis for Some Like It Hot.

That's funny and fabulous, Freddie!
I really enjoyed your parody lyric, DR Freddie.
DR Michael G:
Won't you tell him all my love I will save;
I'll be his slave; oh, how I crave
Someone to watch over me.
Happy birthday to DR MichaelG!
A Very Happy Birthday to (the newest) DR MichaelG!! :D
Happy birthday, MichaelG!

Wishing the happiest of HHW BIRTHDAY WISHES to our very own dear DR MichaelG!!!!!!
All's well that ends well. Hope he stops by to gather up his birthday wishes.
Funny DR FREDDIE.
Happy Birthday Michael G! The “G” is for “great,” clearly.
Happy Birthday, DR MichaelG!
Little cucumbers: I already cut up a bunch of them and put them in a pickle jarr.
Big cucumbers: I'll add to salads. Maybe I'll make a cucumber salad to take to sick Aunt Sassy.
15 eggplants: I've roasted about eight of them to freeze to make some baba ganoush for the next meeting I have to host.
6 bunches of cilantro: Cucumber cilantro salad, I guess.
And about 30 young zucchinis: Soup and I'll add to breakfast eggs.

Wanted to get more sleep but they're out there building away.

That's really cool! Not about your friend being dead, but that he's in the movie and can be recognized!

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but my sister gets vegetable boxes from local gardeners delivered to her house, then several people get them from her. She's like the centrally located drop-off and pick-up spot.

In my opinion every day is national chocolate candy day.
DR George, babka.

Julie Miller rode up to Williamstown with a few of us to see Herringbone. I remain a FB friend. Sounds like your relationship is more complex than I realized.
Today is the birthday of former DR Julie Miller, my co-bookwriter on the show VIVA MAX! based on the satiric novel by Jim Lehrer, for which Skip wrote the music and lyrics. We did a staged reading presented by Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU)
directed by Evan Pappas,
https://truonline.org/events/viva-max-reading/
which was enjoyed by three generations of the Jim Lehrer family who came to see it at the Actors Temple, plus Jim's co-star on the MacNeil/Lehrer Report, Robert MacNeil.
A very talented lady, and I was (and am) proud of the work I did with her before that 2018 presentation. But my feelings towards how unrealistically she treated the project (and the business of being a theater writer) after that reading can, I think, be compared to Elmore's feeling towards John McGlinn.

Very clever, Freddie. I’d enjoy hearing it performed.
Feel better, Vixmom. I, too, have been ailing. Not sure if I got a little of what the girls in the house had, or I overindulged in sweets on Boxing Day, but I was in bed all yesterday. Tummy was upset. Feel a little better today, but still a bit weak.
Very HHW:
DR Elmore knows the obscure lyric to a wonderful old song and then DR Freddie chimes in with the perfect parody lyrics.

My tummy is fine, in fact I feel hungry, but eating just seems like too much work
I read WICKED will be streaming next week, either Dec. 30 or 31.
For a fee, of course, at this point.

Back then, the relationship was fantastic. In 2007, she was the excellent line producer of THE LAST STARFIGHTER at NYMF, and even flew to Seattle and joined us in Issaquah, Washington to be on our talkback panel for the Village Theatre workshop of LAST STARFIGHTER in 2008.
Even a month after the Jan. 2018 VIVA MAX! presentation, she co-produced an evening of Skip's work at 54 Below in Feb. 2018 (which included work from VIVA MAX! and THE LAST STARFIGHTER, and of course TIME AND AGAIN).

Tom and I got to meet her in Issaquah. We're also FB friends.

Cool! My niece would love to see this in the theater, but with her hyperacusis, it's no longer possible.

DR JOHN G that is my exact feeling about Kiss Me, Stupid.....and South Pacific....and Damn Yankees.
I don't get the message.
DR Ginny how are you feeling?

I may be dragged to Wicked tomorrow by the family if I’m feeling better. Reason to stay sick?
Had Panda Express for food - I think I'm about done with Panda for a while.

It is...except for those of us who prefer physical discs will have to wait until February 4. :P

OR you could just wait until this time next year and buy the whole thing (Parts 1 & 2) at once.
How will I know who my true love is?
If it's a "him" you're hoping for
Could be the location. There's another one not too far from here that's better, I think.
Dumplings. Lighter than air, they are.
During my freshman year of college a friend told me she went home for Christmas break and slept for three days! Three days! Even when I was young and a good sleeper I never did that! I’m thinking that that may be what I need, though. 😉 Maybe bk, too.
When I think back to all the tension and angst leading up to the election it makes sense.
Yesterday afternoon I was invited to go home early, and requested to Lysol my desk before leaving
Not before cancelling plans with WFO to see Wicked at the theatre

It's a program that gathers and distributes "less than perfect" veggies to people who want them. It does cost, (I don't know how much) and my sister gets some for free since her house is the drop-off/pick-up place.
Saturday evening greetings!DR Ginny how are you feeling?
Much better, DR Jane. Still taking it easy through the weekend and very glad to be finished with the antibiotic :P
Anyone ever read a British writer named Rose Macaulay? She wrote satirical novels, as acerbic as Dorothy Parker, but more political.
It is quiet here.
Kugel and Babka and Lox, oh my!

What is this concept of waiting of which you speak?
Panda just hasn't been as good as usual the last few times.
How will I know who my true love is?
Hammerstein said:
Some enchanted evening
When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you
Across a crowded room
If it's a "him" you're hoping for, I don't think Hammerstein addressed that.
It seems pretty clear that I did not win $1.2 billion last night.

Are these the beadle deedle deedle deedle deedle dumplings?
I love a good Beadles song.

So the drop off is a trade for a reduction in cost, not a bad deal.

Hello, again.
I was so annoyed last week when I learned that PBS was airing a movie called Christmas Carole about a selfish female executive. Sound familiar? How could they even get a copyright when Bruce’s A Carol Christmas was already copyrighted? I watched it tonight, a long hour and five minutes. Suranne Jones, a British actress I never particularly cared for, stars and co-produced. I found it thin. A Carol Christmas is so much cleverer — and has original music. The two aren’t even in the same league. I’m still annoyed.
He went south?
Well, enough of THAT.
