Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of an unexpected writing gift, and now it is time for you to post until the unexpected cows come home.

And the word of the day is: LEITMOTIF!

Terrific links in the posts yesterday.
Lots of food items to read about.
-
Continued writing vibes for MR BK.
-
I have dipped water out of both kitchen sinks and am boiling water as suggested by DR JEANNE. We shall see what happens.
-
We are supposed to rise to 32 degrees today, we shall see.
-
JRand After Dark!
-
Notes recited. Debugged.
-
Seventeen pages. I got a really good idea in the shower, which is where I get a lot of good ideas.
-
And boy did it help the sequence and really added to it. Second writing gift.
-
And I'll be in bed before four. Like right now.
-
Good news from MR BK.
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI maybe I should do a podcast with that title.
-
Well, fellow HHW'ers.
DR JEANNE's sound advice worked like a charm. As I said, I dipped the standing water from both sinks.
I poured a spaghetti cooker full of boiling water in the sink with the main drain. And waited....but not even 5 minutes. And the drain was working like crazy.
Just for insurance, I did it twice more.
DR JEANNE saved me probably $200 or more! I highly recommend the technique to anyone who has a similar problem.

Rod Taylor was also in WORLD WITHOUT END in 1956.....where a group of spacemen crash landed back on earth - in the FUTURE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think my vaccine reaction is a thing of the past. After I posted yesterday afternoon, I went back to bed, w3atched some TV and read a bit. All three cats were in bed with me, and around 7:30 I turned off the lights. I awoke around 11:30 for a bathroom break, and another around 3:00. Some time around 5:00 I decided it was time to get up, but Thatch and Annabelle wanted to cuddle, so we lazed around until 6:00 when I finally started moving.
-
I feel so much better than yestertday, and I have a bit of tidying up to do. I have an afternoon bath, which I dread because of my fear of falling and seriously injuring myself, and I miss the days when I was more agile and steady and baths were not treacherous situations to be avoided.
-
Several days ago, thinking it was an adaptation of Edith Wharton or another late 19th century novelist, I began watching on Amazon Prime a BBC series, Aristocrats, based on a Stella Tillyard biography of the Lennox sisters, whose grandfather was the Duke(?) of Richmond at the court of King George II. I gave the ode a try and decided to stay with it. I had finished Season 1 of Merecy Street, only to find that Amazon Prime was not showing Season 2 for free, and I cannot afford to pay for it. I can barely pay for food for myself and the cats these days.

Good morning, friends.

I shall try the boiling water method. Thanks, DR Jeanne and DR Jrand74!

Good morning, all.

I woke up way too early this morning, read for a bit, and thankfully fell back to sleep. I don’t recall any dreams, but they’re always there.
-
:)
O M G. Could that have been for real?
-
I’d almost forgotten this because of my screwed up days, but today at noon I’ve got a movie to see at the Bedford Playhouse: a silent film, THE BIG PARADE (1925). I’d watched the Blu-ray recently in preparation, thank goodness, because it’s a 2-1/2 hour one I want to be able to appreciate seeing there and I wouldn’t want to walk in cold on something like that. Looking forward to it, it’s been too long since my last visit there, thanks to my November and December activities.
-
:)
O M G. Could that have been for real?
It's a great "side eye" photo, though!

Singdaw's "National Curried Chicken Day" alert has sent my taste buds into overdrive.
A heaping pile of said chicken on a bed of white fluffy rice would be wonderful!
It's 8:30 a.m., however, and I haven't had brekkies yet.

It is Sunday, January 12th, 2025 in Johnston SC, CSRA.
It is 23 F, the ground is white with frost, and the sun is shining.
Today is my weekly Zoom chat with a group of friends who have been meeting since about three months into the COVID pandemic...or, roughly, more than four years.

Glad that DR ELMORE is having a good day.
I remember the Lennox Sisters on Lawrence Welk.
-
I am watching a few more episodes of ROUTE 66 which is entertaining but can also be a bit full of itself.....especially the titles.

They were great, alongside Robby and Prissy, Nora Ziffel, et. al.

I think they tried to jazz up those titles because of the great music for the show's theme.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Elmore, I think I have season two of Mercy Street on DVD, if you want to watch it.
-
I started Han Kang’s disturbing novel Human Acts last night. It’s about shocking political unrest in South Korea and the violence is quite graphic. I thought I was going to dream about it. Instead, I had bad dreams about doing the daily Octordle. Or trying to do it since my hands were not available. And it wasn’t working just to use my mind.
-
Good morning.
-
I'm glad the hot water thing worked on the drain.
-
I got an email from church saying the heater wasn’t working, so I stayed home to watch online. Apparently the people working on fixing the heat jostled the camera, so it’s not online anymore. I feel sorry for all involved.

Have you tried the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly known as the Actors Fund)?
With your 2024 credentials of being interviewed in the Sunday Times Arts and Leisure section for the ballet, and your credit in the GYPSY program, now might be a particularly great time for your making a request there.
-
Two HUGE soup stock pots of boiling water down the bathroom sink drain seems to have done the trick.

Thanks again, DR Jeanne and DR Jrand74!

Season 2 Episode 29 of ROUTE 66 had about half of its run time filmed at Ocean Park in Santa Monica....as the credits say.
And Martin Milner is in the shower.....from the shoulders up. He has freckles back there, too.

Happy Sunday! On the new episode of the Broadway Radio Show, I am joined by award-winning performer Ari Axelrod to chat about his new album coming out this Friday called A Place For Us: A Celebration of Jewish Broadway. It's an entertaining and insightful conversation....check it out!

I love the words AND the music for this song by John Bucchino.
In a Restaurant By the Sea
In a restaurant by the sea
On a liquid afternoon
For a moment eyes collide
And the world's periphery
Now your pupils learn the sun
To reflect it brighter back
In a moment I'll come to
And retrieve a sip of wine
But for now, I drink you in
Inches separate our hands
When I move to close the gap
You won't clutch or draw away
As too many have before
For a moment eyes collide
And reality's the dream
With the wine wet on your lips
And a tear moist in my eye
In a restaurant by a sea
On a liquid afternoon
For a moment...

How many times has he tried this “restaurant by the sea” move?

Greetings from the Bedford Playhouse.

If anyone else has been interested in the question of whether the actress Beulah Bondi is related to the incoming Attorney General Pam Bondi:
It looks like she might not be, since Beulah Bondi's real name is Beulah Bondy.

I've seen the Pacific Ocean Park episode of Route 66. I've always loved the actress who guest stars - Susan Oliver. I know I wrote about her last time I watched it, which was not all that long ago.

Blecch.

Glad that DR ELMORE is having a good day.
I remember the Lennox Sisters on Lawrence Welk.
While I am enjoying the BBC series, a good musical number would certainly liven things up a bit.

Elmore, I think I have season two of Mercy Street on DVD, if you want to watch it.
That's a very kind and generous offer, but you'd probably never get it back.

The last time I spoke to John Bucchino, he wanted to know how if something he'd written was eligible for the Pulitzer Prize. He's never called back.

The Sound of Music (October 8 1961) Full Show: Mary Martin, Theodore Bikel & Original Broadway Cast (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=szjWjfYDy7A)
Here's the first paragraph in the description:
Vincent J. Donehue was the director for the original 1959 Broadway production of Sound of Music. The show was the final Broadway collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and starred Mary Martin, Theodore Bikel, Patricia Neway, Marion Marlowe, Lauri Peters, Brian Davies, and many others. Joe Layton did the dances.

I really like John Bucchino's music. I have his CD (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Grateful-The-Songs-Of-John-Bucchino-2000-Studio-Cast/5077) and the corresponding songbook (https://www.amazon.com/Grateful-Songs-John-Bucchino/dp/0634020005/) to Grateful: The Songs Of John Bucchino. I even performed "That Smile" (as a solo, of course) :)

I've heard a big chunk of that. Martin is amazing. Easy to see why her feel -good performance won her the Tony. Merman was still robbed. The tape of her Gypsy is phenomenal. But then again, Gypsy didn't win a single Tony.
-
Was Marion Marlowe related to Hugh Marlowe? I only think of him as Jim Matthews on Another World.

Hello, everyone.
-
Very pleased that the boiling water approach worked for both Jrand and Singdaw. A plumber once told me to run hot water down the kitchen drain weekly to keep grease at bay. I don’t remember to do it that often, but I do think it’s a good idea to do it regularly. And not just in the kitchen. My tub needs it, too.
-
Glad that Bruce’s writing is progressing.
-
No news from me on the fire front, but tens of thousands of people here have suddenly found themselves homeless and not all are well off. Even small donations help. The California Fire Foundation or any of the organizations who do disaster relief work. World Central Kitchen is here, too. Much appreciated.
-
I must go boil some water.

A friend of mine, (and Rodzinski’s), is directing a community theater production of The Sound Of Music.

Classic auditions for that place! Every 100 people that came out, five were guys and were never the right age.

Step 1: Have auditions and cast your female roles.
Step 2: Hit everyone you know up to see if they know any guys who want to be in a show.

Today was a rather lost day.

I did finish a book.

And I went dancing.
-
But that's about it.
-
This week, I will have to get plants covered.
-
In a few days, it will hit 70. The next day it's supposed to go down to 21.

I wonder if Singdaw's calendar has a national insane weather day.
-
I will have to get the ladder out to wrap the olive tree.
-
I also want to try to wrap part of the loquat tree.
-
And wrap my feet.

They get cold too easily.
-
Isn't that a song?

I'm STILL here.
-
And STILL no George.
-
I'm sure he'll have some fancy shmancy excuse, like he was twiddling his thumbs.
-
Guess we won't get to page nine.
-
Even though I'm dancing as fast as I can.
-
Dance, ballerina, dance.
-
I still have to shower and rinse with warm salt water.
-
I did write one more page.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I do feel that page nine is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
I will have to get the ladder out to wrap the olive tree.
With what do you wrap it, dear Johnny, dear Johnny?
With what do you wrap it, dear Johnny, with what??
;D
-
No George in sight.
I have arrived...finally. ::)
-
This afternoon, I worked concessions for a local ballet company's presentations of pas de deux.
