Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the house with BK, and now it is time for you to post until the Sunday cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SANGUINE!

And now - Dino at the piano.

Hopefully, errant and truant George will finish his story here.

Monday - today is shopping day.....since it's been 10 days since I last invaded the grocery buying place.
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
I am up way too early.
I had to answer Sponsor information for one of our musicals to the website....and I added a story about the premiere in the local theeder of the film we're all in.
And now that is DONE!
I am still awaiting Director's Notes from two folks.
-
Some folks are doing a production JCSS at their church and if I were the kind of people they were - I might ask the publishing company if they had secured the rights.....but I'm not......
-
I just looked and they are indeed on the Concord upcoming production page....I am glad.
-
Good morning, all!
-
After spending two days mainly in bed and mostly asleep, I could not sleep last night. I was in bed at 8:30 with Thatch, then Annabelle, and then Stella who stayed with me until 1:30, when Thatch returned.Annabelle, now in her eighth year, is beginning to show her age, and that has me concerned. Two nights ago she attempted to leap from her princess pillow next to me up to the top of the filjk g cabinets on her way to her bookcase aerie. This has never been a problem before, but she couldn't make it. She literally fell on top of me, took a short breather, and tired it again. This time she made it. but I could hear her effort to get onto the top of the cabinet as well as the sound of claws sliding on metal.
-
Last night, she didn't bother to attempt it. She settled on her princess pillow and spent the night next to me.
-
This morning, Access-a-Ride will take me for my lab work before next week's appointment with my doctor. I'm hoping it all goes smoothly. These days those five steps in the lobby are as threatening as getting in and out of the bathtub.
-
My neighbor Ann stopped by to visit yesterday, and she recommended a series she and Jen liked, Bad Sisters, on Amazon Prime. So I began it last night.
-
7:13 a.m. and still dark.
It usually gets light around 8 a.m. here.
-
Good morning
-
I have not caught up
-
I am on the train from the city on my way to work
-
I've been in the city since Friday evening for a "girls' weekend"

It was fun but now back to work I go

I think I found my outlook on life. I just texted a friend: I always see the storm in clouds …
-
Good morning, all.
-
Access-a-Ride was early on both trips. I literally walked into the aparetment at the schedfuled time for my pickup. Only bad thing? The first driver did not give me my cane with the walker and I didn't bother to check. So I must buy a new one.

DR Elmore --
It's normal for cats to reduce their leaping to high places as they learn what their new limitations are. I don't recall when each of ours began to take it easy on the high jumps, but they all will do that at some point, and it doesn't necessarily have to wait till old age.
I only learned with Mikey that cats are prone to arthritis, I guess particularly in their back legs. He gets a powder supplement (from a capsule) of Dasuquin in one meal per day that's supposedly effective in alleviating some of the discomfort of arthritis in cats. He has never actually exhibited any discomfort, but for the most part he had stopped the kitchen-counter-high leaps quite a long time ago, way before the vet diagnosed this.

It was wonderful, as it always is, seeing The Big Parade on the big screen yesterday. It's quite the epic silent film, clocking in at two and a half hours. But it's a remarkable piece of work and that time flew by for me.
I particularly like this score by Carl Davis. As I understand it, this is one of the silents that had an entire orchestral score written for it. I need to learn the status of that, but apparently Davis based much of his score on that original music, and it's actually my favorite of his.
The acting for the most part seems quite sophisticated. Something I like about this one is that there are a few lengthy "conversational" scenes during which no titles interrupt the proceedings. You can tell perfectly well what the characters are communicating to each other, and director King Vidor seems to have trusted in his actors and in the script enough to allow it to play out without the many interruptions prevalent in other films.

Listening to Beethoven while trying to write this article. It’s supposed to be only 600 words. I’ve written 329 and feel as if I have only just started.

I’ll write and then trim.

Regarding the TOD, I recall thinking a movie called "Massacre at Central High" was one of the sleaziest movies I'd seen to that point - but a few years later, seeing it again after reading some of the reviews when it was reissued, I understood the issues it raised and that the sleaze (while still there) served a higher dramatic purpose.

A dance instructor and friend who had surgery recently has been out of commission since. But he told Joy he wanted to see her and me today at the hospital. So sorry to hear about your friend, DR John G.

Thank you, all. It's not been the best of days.
-
The day so far: The drive there - even on the GPS there was a warning about the Palisades fire impacting traffic. I'd checked a couple of traffic sites - all showed every off-ramp from Getty Center to Pico closed.
-
GPS tried to get me to go the same way I'd gone last time, getting on the freeway from a Sepulveda onramp rather than Ventura Blvd. I paid no attention, because that's where the truck had creamed my car. I went to the Ventura Blvd. onramp expecting a ten-minute wait, as always.
-
There was no wait at all and I was on the 405 in twenty seconds.
-
While traffic was slow, it was always moving. No onramp anywhere was closed. GPS warned three times of police being up ahead, as well as a stalled car. At no time were police anywhere nor was there a stalled car anywhere.
-
Once past Sunset we were moving faster and once past Wilshire - no traffic to be seen and clear sailing right to the doctor's office. The GPS predicted drive time had been forty-seven minutes. Actual drive time was thirty minutes.
-
Appointment was fine - he did some re-testing and that was about it. But he needs the little blood test and then the open MRI so I really need to book those things.
-
Drive time home with zero traffic? Twenty minutes. At no time going or coming did I see smoke anywhere. So much for being near and jumping the 405.
-
I went to Gelson's and got creamy tomato soup, turkey breast, a little roast beef, rye bread, and some salad.
-
I had the soup and a turkey sandwich for food - very good.
-
I futzed and finessed.
-
I wrote a couple of new pages and the next two or three should be simple, as I know exactly what they are.
-

Dinner tonight is a slice of cherry pie. It's not great, but it's good enough.

Listening to a collection of New Yorker articles called Rogues. In it, there's a profile of the TV producer who gave Trump his break in The Apprentice. There's a grotesquely accurate depiction of Trump in the piece in which he is described as a poor person's image of a rich person. In another article, dealing with arms dealers from the Middle East, there's a description of the vulgar displays of wealth these indirect murderers make. Somehow, their tastes are no different from Trump's.

I'm just filled with sunshine today.

I will say that we did have some gorgeous sunshine today. And it felt great.

Was the producer Mark Burnett?
He has kept many tapes from the filming of The Apprentice secret, as they do not show Trump at his best, to put it mildly.

Trump has rewarded him by naming him as Special Envoy to the U.K. in his new administration.

But I'll definitely cross 200 pages this night - but would like to get to 205. Then I'm in the final third of the book.

Still researching a few things for the ending.

Liza Minnelli and John Guilgud are really good in this. Nice to see Ted Ross. Geraldine Fitzgerald is a hoot. But Dudley Moore is irritating. The drunk act just isn't fun.

This is quite a loss.
An estimated 100,000 scores and parts by the groundbreaking 20th-century composer Arnold Schoenberg were destroyed last week when the wildfires in Southern California burned down the music publishing company founded by his heirs.

Sad.
-
No original Schoenberg manuscripts were destroyed in the fire. But the loss of Belmont’s collection could create problems for orchestras, chamber music groups and soloists planning performances of Schoenberg’s works in the months ahead. Other Schoenberg memorabilia was also destroyed in the fire, including photographs, letters, posters, books and arrangements by other composers of Schoenberg pieces.

Well, the movie was still sweet. And bittersweet.
-
And I don't know if I realized until now that Liza and Barney Martin were in Chicago on Broadway together. Only she was Roxie and he was Amos, not father and daughter.
-
I'm off to bed.

Good night, all.

Ten pages so far, and I should be able to do the other five before bed.

Guess I'll write some damn notes now because, you know, I haven't written enough today.
-
Sorry to hear about your friend, John G.
-
That Deadline article seemed weirdly more about Rowling and Weinstein than Gaiman.
-
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls has a high sleaze factor.
-
Auto Focus about Bob Crane, was ultimately pretty sleazy.
-
But the George Mendeluk film Stone Cold Dead with Richard Crenna, that one really wallows in sleaze.
-
Inserts, there’s another one.
-
Sleepaway Camp. That one haunts me. A truly sleazy film uses its low budget to create a memorably sleazy atmosphere.
-
Like Body Double tries to be sleazy but it’s so slick, whereas Sisters is really unpleasantly sleazy.
-
The Men’s Club, with Roy Scheider and Richard Jordan…. A lurid affair.
-
Just riffing on sleaze here.
-
Let’s riff on over a page, see what’s happening there…
-
Ah. Tis a page much maligned.
-

-
Christopher Cross. What a little run of hits he had.
-
Sailing and Arthur’s Theme, both #1s

Ride Like the Wind

(Hopefully no wind tonight)
-
Never Be the Same, It’s Alright, Think of Laura
-
He was an example of a guy wiped out by the music video era.
-
But what a run.
-
Arthur’s Theme bizarrely addresses Arthur by name, making it less universal. But it still topped the charts and won awards for the squadron of people who wrote it.
-
Bacharach, Sager, Cross, and how did Peter Allen get in the mix?
-
A lot of people don’t know Schoenberg contributed a couple verses to Arthur’s Theme as well.
-
Rapidly running out o’ gas..
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
George is off somewhere, lost in the wilderness.
-
But I am here.
-
And so is Rodzinski.
-
We shall keep the home fries burning.
-
Maybe we shouldn't keep anything burning right now.
-
New notes are written.
-
And they feature a new feature.
-
George is nowhere to be found.
-
Again.
-
Rodzinski ran out of gas.
-
I just wrote another page, so just four to go.
-
But four usually takes an hour, although if they are dialogue pages, they'll go faster.
-
And they will be.
-
A light posting day for our George.
-
Maybe he's on a posting carb diet.
-
I do feel that page eight is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Enter page eight!
-
George just doesn't want to be a late night denizen anymore.
-
I'm making some toast.
-
Didn't have that many calories today.
-
So, why not a toast to toast?
-
No George.
-
All night long.
-
Something important must be going on.
-
Really important.

There was. Today, I had to take my mom to a doctor's appointment so that she could get an EKG. They did that, then they're still going to have to run a few more tests for other things.
-
Oh, look who showed up at one minute to midnight.
Better late than never. ::)
-
Well, we'll have to hear the stories in the new topic.
-
After the doctor's appointment, she took me to the Mayan, a Mexican chain restaurant and we both had the two enchiladas lunch special with rice and beans.

New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.
