Post by: bk on January 25, 2025, 12:31:53 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were to the tune of Soon It's Gonna Rain, and now it is time for you to post until the rainy cows come home.

TOD:  Does title song mean the song had to be written for the movie, as opposed to a later movie made with the title of the song?

Favorites that come right to my mind are "Yellow Submarine" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie"
Title: Re: THE SCHMIDT AND JONES NOTES
Post by: Freddie on January 25, 2025, 03:46:00 AM
then a rank below those would be "Georgy Girl" and "You Light Up My Life"

Not sure if "Night Fever" counts as a title song from "Saturday Night Fever," but I really like that song.

If songs that became movie titles later count for the TOD, I'd add "The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia" and "Harper Valley PTA"

According to wartime anecdotes, a stray cat is said to have wandered into the Cairo Conference in 1943, briefly interrupting the high-stakes meeting between leaders like Churchill, Roosevelt, and Chiang Kai-shek. Though unverified, this light-hearted tale reflects the unexpected ways animals brought moments of calm and levity to even the most serious occasions during World War II.

I sit here at my laptop on a Saturday morning.  It is very cold, but there is the most ghastly squabble from a gaggle of geese out on the pond.

One wonders, as one does, I suppose, what it is that gets them into such a state.  Simple souls.

I do not know where this month has gone.

I do know, however, that I have a new CPAP in my future.  I did a sleep study a while back and got my consultation and results yesterday.

It was a miserable night, the night of sleep study, and my misery was reflected in the results. Sleep Apnea is part of who I am, for the rest of my life, and it's incumbent upon me to alleviate the problem with a new machine. The machine I have is 10 years old and is considered "ancient", apparently.  Oh, well.  Like me....

I had a passing thought yesterday about an Alexander Pope poem that had inspired the title of a novel and movie of that novel.  DR JRand will know what I mean since my memory of a past discussion herein involved him:

Wise wretch! With pleasures too refin'd to please
With too much spirit to e'er be at ease
You purchase pain with all that joy can give
And die of nothing but a rage to live.

The description of the movie from imdb sounds complicated.

"A Rage to Live"
It’s a hot soap from ’65, when movies promised raging passion but delivered cheap teases and hypocritical judgments. It’s Suzanne Pleshette’s only starring role, but it doesn’t exploit her bright personality, her sense of humor. John O’Hara’s tale hasn’t much pity for a promiscuous young wife who breaks the rules. Does nymphomania make her a social menace, or is she victimized by a script determined to put the blame on Mame?

DR FREDDIE the movie is a corker.....lots of scenery chewing and high fashion circa 1965 or so.....and of course Suzanne Pleshette and Ben Gazzara and Peter Graves and Bradford Dillman....to name a few.

Yowza!

If songs that became movie titles later count for the TOD, I'd add "The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia" and "Harper Valley PTA"

I always liked both the song and the movie to Harper Valley PTA. ;D

And "Harper Valley PTA" usually makes me think of "Ode to Billy Joe," another movie made based on a song.

Yesterday, I heard on the news that a 12 year-old Connecticut boy was shot for throwing snowballs at a car. I am so glazd I grew up when I did.

:(

I've been reading the articles and I'm not sure - Was he throwing the snowball AT a moving car?
