Great photos in last night's notes, John G! Thanks for posting them.

Nice lanterns, DR John G.
-
And that ain't no euphemism.

Good morning, friends.

And others.

-
Good morning.
-
DR Iris, I left you a PM.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR RODZINSKI I emailed you a link.
-
It is 26 degrees heading for 35 degrees.
-
I slept in this morning, and it was quite nice to hunker down with Thatch, who loves to cuddle. Around 2:15 this morning, accompanied by Stella, I had an emergency run to the bathroom that I fortunately made. When I got back to bed, I decided to turn off the alarm and sleep late as I wanted. So I did.
-
I have always done my own rehearsal schedule.....and other directors I have worked with have done that also.
Interesting.
I hate it because you have to work around "conflicts."
-
Don't get me started.
-
DR RON PULLIAM'S post made me hungry.
-
Today I am possessed by A Rage To Live.
I will be raging to live all over the place.
-
First thing this morning, I need to schedule Access-a-Ride for the appointment I missed last week. After that, I must take the trash and recyclables down to the basement. Then I will work on my iTunes mess, fixes to the A&T Book 2, or my taxes. Decisions, decisions . . .
-
I knew about the Monopoly/Landlord kerfuffle.....
Bruce Kimmel's Demos.
That sounds like a fun board game.
-
Speaking opf A & T Book 1, I got a lovely email from my publisher. After apologizing for the delay, he wrote:
. . . you should know that your book is the last outside title that Moreclacke will publish, and I intend to go out with a bang. Kristine[his wife] firmly believes that A&T will be very successful and who am I to disagree?
-
That's nice, DR elmore3003.

I've always done my own as well. I like it. Of course, with recording, there are only occasional hurdles since the singers are hired for a certain number of days and expected to arrive knowing the material. In 2001, when John McGlinn recorded Babes in Toyland, we got to London and the soprano hired to sing the role of Tom-Tom arrived with such a cold and vocal issues and she was paid off and replaced immediately. In 1998, recording The Most Happy Fella in London, our Tony, Louis Quilico arrived thinking he remembered the score from singing the role before. We ended up, for the most part, recording his orchestra tracks and giving him several months to relearn the material. He was a very nice man and once a great baritone, but . . .
-
How could I forget "Goldfinger?" I loved the movie and was crazy about the song. I drove my parents mad when I got the sheet music and wouldn't stop playing it on the piano. WThen, when the soundtrack album was released, I played that sucker to death.
-
That's nice, DR elmore3003.
Sure is! I like Robert, and I hope Kristine's right.
Since I wrote it over five years ago, there's been a plethora of cat pages o Facebook and Instagram, and I would hate for the book to get lost in the shuffle. The "cat pages" I follow include:
Elie the Hallway Cat
Tiger JoJo
Badger.Dot
BackpackSeven
Princess Honeybelle
Penny the Talking Cat
Fitzcapades,
Loki Does Tricks
Liebchen.Travels
Fisher the Maine Coon Cat
George the Stourbridge Junction Cat
Misty the Moo
I find them all fun and clever. Much of the material is wonderful. It's sadly cut down on my own writing time because I don't want to be guilty of stealing material from any of them.

Green Juice and Peanut Brittle at the Whistle Stop Cafe - Possible title for something or other?

That mention in the notes of the BK demos is quite intriguing!

Happy Sunday to one and all. It's time for another Putting It Together episode on the Broadway Radio Show. This time we are putting together Lionel Bart's Tony Award winning score for OLIVER! using 6 different cast recordings, including the just released live cast recording of the hit London revival. Check it out!

Good morning, all.

Some interesting posts this morning...starting with BK's notes about the reel-to-reel "Demos". MOST interesting.

And this is - at first, alarming, but - very positive news. I love their feeling about it, and I hope they make it happen SOON.

Wow. Several MONTHS? I remember seeing him at the Met (will have to think what it was) and probably hearing him on broadcasts. He was a big deal then.

Goldfinger was my entry point into the Bond films because my parents hadn't let me go to the first two at my tender age! But man, what a whole new world that opened up. I went repeatedly and I'm sure I destroyed my first copy of that soundtrack album, too. As for playing on the piano, I don't remember if I got the sheet music. I probably picked out "Goldfinger" and little bits of the soundtrack by ear, and it would almost certainly have sucked.
-
Great photos last night, DR John G. That must have been even more beautiful in real life!
-
In our 99- (give or take) seat theeders, the directors I've worked with have had to draw up their own rehearsal schedules - and yes, deal with the CONFLICTS which seem to become a more nightmarish challenge every year.
We have a few stage managers who are excellent in all respects, but none I've been involved with have had that responsibility. They do, of course, take charge at maintaining the schedules and herding the cats - I mean the casts - or was I right the first time? - accordingly.
-
Great news DR ELMORE.

I think his most fampous roles were in Verdi operas, particularly Rigoletto. His handsome son Gino had a big career for a while, particularly Figaro in Corigliano's Ghosts of Versaille.
-

That's true! I bet the food was wonderful and that a good time was had by all.
-
Gino Quilico is 69 years old now! I guess in my mind he'll always be 30-40 and very handsome. And he was a wondewrful baritone. I think I have a DVD of The Barber of Seville with him in the title role.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. I may post a couple more.
-
Nice note on the book, Elmore.

Last night, I began watching the 1980 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice. I love Elizabeth Garvie as Elizabeth Bennet but the teleplay - on five episodes as opposed to six in the 1995 BBC production - does some strange things to cover lost plot elements and the romantic quality is far superior in Andrew Davis' 1995 teleplay. This time around I noticed two things:
1. The score is far inferior to Carl Davis' energetic and witty 1995 work.
2. The novel closely adheres to the 1812-1813 calendar, and the novel covers a year, September 1812 to September 1813:
Late summer, September 1812, Bingley rents Netherfield Hall;
Late Nov. 1812, Bingley leave Netherfield;
Just after Christmas, Jane Bennet goes to London for several months to stay with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner;
March 1813, Elizabeth spends two months in Kent with Charlotte and Mr Collins;
Early April 1813, Mr Darcy proposes to Elizabrth and she rejects him;
July 1813, Elizabeth and the Gardiners travel to Derbyshire and Pemberley; Lydia is seduced by Wickham;
August 1813, Darcybuys Wickham to save Lydia's reputation;
September 1813, Bingly returns to Netherfield and proposes to Jane Bennet, Darcy proposes to Elizabeth.
In the 1980 production, the seasons never change; thew entire series of evens takes place in warm weather anmd the events of the novel appear to take place over a couple of spring-summer months!

We went late last night, so no one was particularly hungry. We did share a bowl that could be described as a Vietnamese version of ramen. Rice noodles in a tasty broth with beef and plenty of fresh vegetables. It was excellent, particularly thin slivers of red and green cabbage that were still crunchy.
-
Lovely photos DR JOHN G.

I didn’t even know the retreat was there. It’s fairly secluded. And it’s only about six or seven miles from my house.

There is a Women's College Basketball Game on just before - so hopefully there won't be any overtime antics.

I don't why I moved away from YAHOO which I loved when I joined the inner web in 1998. It really is still a great browser.

That reminds me of another Bond theme song, For Your Eyes Only. I love that song!

I loved seeing Paul McCartney perform Live and Let Die live as fireworks exploded on both sides of the stage. But it’s not a great song, IMO.

Bond songs were iconic. Back in the day.

Skies are clear and temperature is fine for the this time of year.....hear.

Natalie Haynes continues her feminist take on Greek myths with The Children of Jocasta, a thrilling retelling of the story best known through Sophocles’ plays. Ismene’s story unfolds as she’s writing a history of her parents, so they unfold simultaneously. It’s wonderfully effective. You know tragedy and horror lies in wait. But in her take, the reasons are not exactly what you’ve read before.
-
I shall reserve judgment DR JOHN G.
-
Makes me want to watch Martha Graham and her boy toy at the time dance Jocasta and Oedipus. And to listen to or watch The Gospel at Colonus.

Sunday afternoon greetings! I have spent several hours cleaning up my desk and it’s now a much more workable space than before. I’d let a lot of things slide after my diagnosis last summer.

Same as Keith :)
-
Keith must have interupted me about five times while I was trying to order Freyja's birthday gift.
-
I blame the interuptions for my error.
-
I panicked when I realized I had accidentally submitted the order without changing the delivery from our address to her address.
-
Fortunately I was able to call the store and get it changed.
-
Not only would we have had to pay shipping twice, it would not have arrived in time for her birthday.
-
Is Vixmom on her way to Florida?
I expect that she is already there.
-
I saw "September 5" yesterday. I agree that it's a great movie, BK!
I look forward to seeing it.
-
Good evening.
-
Fortunately I was able to call the store and get it changed.
Oh, good!
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I was actually up at ten-thirty, but then was on the phone for ninety minutes, then had to go to the theater to pick up a script, then had to come back, then had to talk to Muse Margaret, then had to eat.
-
Now I'm full.
-
Enter page five.
-
Page FIVE?
-
Proofer one's stuff has been discussed and much of it entered.
-
One down, one to go.
-
I'll try to find something to watch now.
-
Fortunately I was able to call the store and get it changed.
Oh, good!
Fortunately I was able to call within minutes of placing the order.
-
Wow, I just watched a story of two firefighters that saved a family's batch of photos by putting them in coolers while battling the blaze. The family is overjoyed.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
.
It just so happens that I drank some green juice today.
-
It is National Green Juice Day, in case you were wondering.
-
The Palisades fire is now 82% contained, but I still hear sirens all day long. A single siren might be a trip to the hospital unrelated to these fires, but so many sirens at once, as we have at the moment, makes me think they must be fire engines. It began raining last night about 9 and rained most of today. The rain will help, but this is, sadly, not over.
-
Good news from Elmore about A&T.
-
I’ve been trying to get a showing on a condo, but the listing agent is very lax. Does he even want to sell this place? One has to wonder.

I wish I had some good news to share. Maybe it’s out there and I just don’t see it.
-
Vibes to all for a good week ahead.

DR Iris, I left you a PM.
Thank you. Laura.
I can’t figure out how to locate it.
I scrolled all the way to the top, but I don’t see anything. 🙁

I have an old iPad, and maybe that’s the problem.
Anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

It’s been a bad weekend.
My grand-cat suddenly passed away at the age of 9.
He was a Scottish Fold, and was very much loved.
-
Then I couldn’t figure out why I hadn’t heard from a very dear friend for a few months.
When I looked up his name online, I was shocked to see his obituary.
Am going to bed early.
First meeting with the radiation oncologist tomorrow.
-
Sorry I couldn’t post some cheerful news.
Wishing everyone a good week.

Are people out doing lewd things filled with debauchery - like eating sandwiches and grapes?
-
A decade ago I flirted with the idea that Robert Armin eventually did - to start a Kritzerland publishing arm, to do my books and others. At that time, CreateSpace wasn't what it is today, nor would I, unlike Robert, have used it because I just don't care for it. Ultimately, it just seemed too unwieldy and I think Robert found that out. I'm glad he'll go out with a bang on elmore's book.
-
Sorry to hear that DR Iris
-
I spent most of the day in the garage trying to build this home gym we bought. Maybe 2/3 the way there.

Anyone see the movie Oh Canada from last year? With Richard Gere and Uma Thurman?
-
This character I know who owns a big crematory in Queens called to tell me some scenes were shot at the mausoleum he operates.
-
Scheduling was my least favorite part of directing shows.
-
That's why I like professional productions where everyone has a job to do and the job of a director is - to direct. I've had it easy with the past shows I've done because the schedules were basically everyone needed all the time - those were very big casts and very few small scenes. With THIS show, I do have a ton of scenes that just involve two people, plus a few that involve three to six people.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone? In tarnation?

I literally sat on my couch from six to nine with the remote in my hand, in mid-click, dozing off over and over and over again.

Ah, the page that shall not be named.

But really.
-
Really, really.
-
I could achieve a rather large new plateau tonight, but I think I'll save it for morning, unless I do it AFTER the notes and new topic.
-
Um...
-
George, thanks for the links to Politics Girl.
You're welcome, Jane.
