Well, you've read the notes, the notes had good news, and now it is time for you to post until the good news cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PROTEAN!

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Michael (not to be confused with newest DR MichaelG)!! :D

Good morning, all!
-
And good news about The Faculty remake!
-
I slept poorly; it seems to be my usual situation on a night before an Access-a-Ride jaunt. I had a lot of dreams, one about a search for the performing materials from Jerome Kern's Sweet Adeline. In another, rather sinister dream I was living back at my parents' house at 3003 Goldman Avenue and my cousin Judy, who died about six years ago, was helping me pack for travel. That house on Goldman was a source of much paranormal activity, and when I dream about it, it's always unsettling.
-
DR Jrand74, I forgot about the music played during the radiation treatments. The staff always asked me if I had a preference, and I usually told them to play whatever they would like. It was usually 50s-60s music.

When I return from my doctor's appointment, Jen is hopefully coming down to teach me how to use the scanner on my new printer. I've had it since last November, and I've only used it as a printer. I watched a YouTube video yesterda, and couldn't make sense of any of it. I also had a hard tim understanding the narrator.

DR elmore3003 - I found this. Not sure if it is helpful of not:
Yes, the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw printer does have the capability to scan documents and save them as electronic files such as PDFs. Here's how you can do it.
Install HP Smart App: Make sure you have the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device. You can download it from the respective app store for your device.
- Connect to Printer: Ensure that your computer or mobile device is connected to the same network as your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw printer.
- Open HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your device.
- Select Scan: Look for the option to scan documents within the HP Smart app. It might be labeled as "Scan" or represented by a scanner icon.
- Place Document: Place the document you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the document feeder, depending on your printer model.
- Configure Settings: Before scanning, you may have the option to configure settings such as resolution, color mode, file format (e.g., PDF), and destination folder.
- Scan Document: Start the scanning process through the HP Smart app. Follow any on-screen prompts to adjust settings or confirm the scan.
- Save as PDF: Once the scan is complete, you should have the option to save the scanned document as a PDF file. Look for an option similar to "Save as PDF" or "Save to PDF".
- Choose Location: Select the location on your device where you want to save the PDF file.
- Finalize: Confirm the save action, and your document will be saved as a PDF file on your device.
-
Happy birthday to DR Michael, aka Michael Shayne! Hoping it's a terrific celebratory day!

Heureux anniversaire, Michel!
Or, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHAEL!
-
Great potential news for BK and a remake of "The Faculty".
-
I am over the moon abut today being National Hot Chocolate Day!
I love hot chocolate.
-
Good morning, all.
-
:)
Wow!
-
Without even knowing it was National Backward Day, I've actually been doing my routine things in somewhat reverse order this morning. Incredibly, bizarrely, I am only now about to get my first cup of coffee.
-
Vibes for BK's two important envelopes to be there!
-
This is really weird. I usually view Facebook on Safari on the MacBook or the iPad, but sometimes I use Chrome on the Mac and I forget why I began doing that. There was something that Chrome did better, no idea now what it was.
ANYHOO ... I just now checked Facebook on Chrome, and every post in my feed is from the group "My Cat is an Asshole" which I joined a few days ago. Every post. I refreshed the browser to make sure that I was indeed in my feed and not on their page by mistake. Nope. Every post. As far down as I scroll. I came back to Safari, went to Facebook, and all is normal. Or as "normal" as Facebook gets.
-
Coffee!!
Okay, I'm going downstairs for it now. No further delays.
-
But while I'm talking about it, I can indeed recommend "My Cat is an Asshole" as having witty and entertaining posts for the most part.
-
Weird Facebook actions.....it may be some kind of sign DR CHAS SMITH.
It could have to do with DEI hires.
-
Appt. vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
The last day of January.....

Happy Birthday DR MICHAEL S
-
Good morning, all.

Slept well.

Happy birthday, DR Michael

It is 47 degrees here headed for 54 degrees. With rain.

I watched about half of Maestro last night, I'll finish it today.

This monster has no soul. What a sorry excuse for a human being!
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep. I actually managed to get in bed by twelve-fifteen.
-
I missed a birthday?
-
Yes, a happy birthday to Michael Shayne, who never comes around these here parts anymore for reasons unknown.
-
Weird.
-
But what isn't?
-
I really hope this Drat box o' music is not hard to get to.
-
One of these days I will hire five people to get everything out of that locker and then put it back so that it makes sense and I can get to everything.
-
A phone call I thought would take an hour lasted just 15 minutes or so. I'm very happy about that.
-
So, now I can face the rest of the day.
-
What's on my schedule for the rest of the day?
-
Besides a nap?
-
Three!
-
Dropping in for a page turn or two.
-
A trip to the library. Some more Billy Wilder films are in, including Arise, My Love, which he wrote the script for but didn't direct.
-
I am home in one piece and a little surprised that I survived the stairs in the lobby.
-
DR singdaw, thanks for the information on the HP printer. Hopefully, Jen will know what needs to be done.
-
DR Iris it is rather impressive that you went to almost every taping of Whose Line is it Anyway?
-
I'm already in shock. I need to do what?
-

I forgot it was Who’s Line and thought George was working at a production of Whose Life Is It Anyway, which really threw me when he described it as a laugh riot.
-
I wonder how many young folks even got the joke of the show’s title.
-
Proops was with the show as far back as the British incarnation.
-
In Amy Schumer’s recent-ish show, she had radiation treatments or something that required a long time in a tunnel on a table, and the radiologist fancied himself a DJ, playing music he thought she’d like. Later she hired him as a DJ for a party.
-
I finished interesting reading. Someone posted an unpublished autobiographical manuscript by director Jack Smight, where he goes through his whole career, telling the behind-the-scenes tales.
He directed, Kaleidoscope, No Way To Treat A Lady, Harper, The Traveling Executioner, I’d Rather Be Rich, Rabbit Run, Airport 75, Midway, Fast Break, Damnation Alley, et al.

What a story! Funny how things work.

I read the title wrong too DR RODZINSKI.
-
DR RODZINSKI I have bookmarked the Smight story to read later.
It looks very interesting.

Jen just taught me how to scan. We already had the app - I figured she had to have downloaded it when she set up the printer - so it was really a piece of cake.

That's pretty cool!

Back from storage. Found the first of two boxes pretty quickly. Took ten minutes to find box 2, which of course was at the bottom of a pile of boxes. They're all here now - and we were in and out of there in thirty minutes, so much easier than I thought it would be.
-
Food would be nice.

Enter page four.

Jen just taught me how to scan. We already had the app - I figured she had to have downloaded it when she set up the printer - so it was really a piece of cake.
That's great, Larry!

I know that my printer is also a scanner and I've never learned how to do that. I guess I really should, too.

Nice.

Jack Lemmon’s character in Avanti! is terrible. I realize he has to find himself, but he’s a real a’hole.
-
And jokes about being deported are not exactly funny these days.
-
Jack Lemmon was a such a talented actor. I greatly suspect this is a perfect example of his talent.
-
Does anyone have a current copy of People Magazine?
-
14 movies came in today at the library. Oy.
-
That’s a lot of movies.
-
My brother told me to get a copy of the issue titled "DISASTER IN LOS ANGELES". I suspect there is a photo of my nephew in it.

I’m sure. But it doesn’t make it any easier to take. He calls Juliet Mills “fat ass,” and she hears him.

Just to be clear it was on her semi-autobiographical show with Michael Cera, not sure how real it was, but it was a fun element of an ok show.

While sad about Dick Button, at least he was 95 years old. These other skaters were hearbreakingly young.

George & Kevin, Keith also got Wordle in four.

Unbelievable DoorDash episode. Ordered from Marmalade, which is 1.5 miles from here. It's on my home page as a regular place I order from. So, I check to see what's taking so long and I can see the Dasher is at The Grove. THE GROVE - Farmers Market - 8 miles from here!
-
They defaulted to that branch for no reason and there's no way to know that unless you happen to look for it and why would I when I've ordered from the nearby one over and over again. It took an hour to get here, was ice cold, and I got refunded and am waiting on a sandwich.

I have a two-thirty phone call, then I'll go to the mail place, then a call with Muse Margaret, then a brief visit and then I can have some time to myself.

We have never ordered food to be delivered from a restaurant here. In Ashland no one delivered out that far and we got used to not having that option.

I'd read that ELSBETH had a new episode last night, but we can't find the new episode on streaming yet.
-
I just read this about BRILLIANT MINDS, the series which stars Zachary Quinto and in most episodes (as his character's mother) Donna Murphy. In the most recent episodes, they'd introduced Mandy Patinkin as his character's father.
"Sadly, the ratings and viewership are a significant hurdle to a second season, as declining ratings suggest the audience is losing interest. NBC also has Chicago Med, and may feel it doesn't need a second medical series if people aren't enthusiastic enough to tune in every week. These factors put the freshman medical drama at risk of consisting only of the 13 Brilliant Minds episodes from this season. However, the EP's detailed plans for season 2 suggest he has reason for optimism regardless and that the stories begun in the finale will not be left unfinished."

Last time we visited Craig we flew in and out of Reagan airport. I wasn't happy because we couldn't fly there non-stop. After reading about the problems with this airport I definately do not want to fly there again.
DR Iris do you have an opinion about this? Craig said we should fly in and out of Baltimore.

I truly think I was referred by Youtube to this medical video because of listening to certain songs from URINETOWN, but it's interesting.
"Is Sitting to Pee Actually Good for Your Health? Urologist Explains!"

I think it's time to retire it, don't you?

When I was at the dentist last week for a cleaning we also did a 360 degree scan. I spoke to the dentist yesterday. Bad news! One root canal went bad and he’s recommending an implant. I’ve never had one and, frankly, it scares me. Anyone here have one? I’m interested to hear how it went and if you’re happy with it.
Also, he said there was an infection from the removal of one of my wisdom teeth! WHAT? That was 100 years ago! (I was twenty.) I’ve never heard of such a thing. So lots of time with the dentist in my future.
-
I took another look at the condo I disliked. It’s very similar to the one I loved and thought that maybe I could make a few changes and be happy with it. When my agent and I arrived we learned that two other buyers had submitted offers! This was while we were waiting to get an appointment. Harrumph! I’m not heartbroken, but twice now a unit has sat on the market for months, then when I’m ready to buy buyers come out of the woodwork! I’ll view another one tomorrow. But, honestly, I’d like a break. Going through the fires was really stressful and I’m just not ready to prepare for a move.
-
Good weekend vibes to all.

Wow! I have never heard of an infection after all those years. I'm guessing you have been googling about this. Is it treatable?
An implant implies that first the tooth will be pulled-sorry. I have an implant. It is better than not having a tooth ;) The implant is nice that I can eat and brush normally. It does take a long time. A post is put in and then a crown over that. I didn't realize that it wasn't normal for the crown to hurt some and should have had that issue fixed immediately. The crown fell out and the new one was pain free, except those years with the first one left my gum area there a bit sensitive, but not an issue really.

DR Iris do you have an opinion about this? Craig said we should fly in and out of Baltimore.
I have not flown in or out of this area for many years, but am familiar with BWI, National, and Dulles airports.
I always choose nonstop flights, so if you’re flying out of Portland, you would probably need to fly into National or Dulles for a nonstop.
The FAA has indefinitely suspended helicopter flights that fly parallel to commercial flights, so I don’t think it likely that flying into Reagan/National is unsafe. As a matter of fact, it is probably safer now, as it will be under increased security for the foreseeable future.
-
I guess that was kind of a useless answer.
😊 🙄
-
Where in Maryland does Craig live?
It takes about an hour from BWI to the DC/Maryland suburbs.
I, personally, make the choice based on nonstop service.
-
Hello, Rupert! 😄

I think it's time to retire it, don't you?
Except on pie days.

Stress-free vibes and hugs for Jeanne.

Oh, no!

I think it's time to retire it, don't you?
Except on pie days.
Definitely!

A friend texted about meeting up for dinner. Had a nice plate of enchiladas with a ranchera sauce.
Nice!

One of the Avanti! extras was a 15-minute film on Clive Revill, who made two films with Wilder, this and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. But it also went into his roles in Irma la Douce and Oliver! Very nice.

I am exhausted.
-
Good night, all.
-
So, at seven-thirty, I sat on my couch like so much fish.
-
I had the Firestick remote in hand, was going to turn it on to lower the volume (the Firestick comes through the TV speakers, which are awful), and then I was going to turn on the Blu-ray player and finish High and Low.
-
I conked out before ever turning on the TV.
-
I woke up three or four times, wondering why I was sitting on my couch, when I'd just been doing something fun in a dream.
-
And here we are - three hours later.
-
Guess I was tired.
-
Guess page eight was tired, too, but here it is, me and eight or eight and I.
-
As soon as I'm coherent, I'll write some damn notes.
-
Nobody here but us chickens.
-
Not a single post for fifty-five minutes.
-
Most unseemly.
-
Not very sporting.
-
I'm sure George is off somewhere on a tangent.
-
I, however, am here.
-
And it is now officially February.
-
A short month.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And George is heaven knows where doing HELL knows what.
-
Gone with the wind.
