And the word of the day is: BUBBLY!

Wonderful Gershwin lyrics in the notes, BK!
Yes, quite terrific Gershwin lyrics!
-
Great that the first rehearsal of Drat! The Cat! went so well!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Lousy night of sleep.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well and wanted to sleep longer. Three cats thought otherwise.
-
I enjoyed today's lyrics in the notes.
-
It sounds as if the Fat Orange Felon wants to turn Gaza into a theme park.
Come back, John Wilkes Bootr! All is forgiven.

Last night I finished reading Nic Saint's first book in his series, "The Mysteries of Max." I guessed the killer 2/3 of the way through the book and didn't particularly like it. Then I began the second book in the series, in which the victim is a dissipated 80s pop star, John Paul George, and I laughed a lot. The first couple of chapters are better than the entire first book.
I'm not sure I like the over-all concept: reporter Odelia Poole is a descendant of New England witches and can talk to her cat Max and his best frend Dooley. The locale is a Long Islanmd Hampton;s town, Hampton Cove. I'll finish the second and see if I want to read any more of the 63(! ! !) Max books.
-
Then I will read the first book in the "Cat in the Stacks" mysteries, and see how I like that. So far, Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who . . ." series has no equal.
-
Good morning, friends.

DR Jrand74, congratulations on your tax submissions. I will continue work on mine today. I hope Stella and Thatch behave; their efforts to help only hinder.

Good morning, friends.
Howdy, DR singdaw!

Today is National Shower with a Friend Day.

Just throwing that out there.

Beyond dire! Horrifying and disgusting. Come back, John Wilkes Booth! All is forgiven.

Fun to read about the first Drat! rehearsal.

I shall be sunny and light.
Wasn't it Steve Bannon who sang "I'm Dreaming of a White Congress" - "May your day be sunny and light, and may all your Senators be white"
-
DR FREDDIE he probably did.
-
Glad to hear the rehearsal went well. Vibes for a similar second rehearsal today.
-
It is 32 degrees here headed for 37 degrees - with rain.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Sounds like a really solid start to the rehearsals.
-
We're having an ugly sn*wst*rm tomorrow, but fortunately nothing on Friday which is when I have to be out and about for a gig.
And then for comic relief we're having another ugly sn*wst*rm on Saturday, and fortunately I don't have to be anywhere over the weekend.
And so it goes.
-
I do, however, have to join the hordes in doing a quick run of panic shopping this afternoon. Just for three or four things, but still, it's a pain. And I think all of you knows just where that pain is.
-
Last night's semi-regular dinner meeting with director friend was just what the doctor ordered. What with the chaos of the entire Wonderettes rehearsal period and run, the holidays, and then he being down with bronchitis for a while, it had been a good long while since we'd been able to just chat and catch up, with nothing that had to be frantically planned or decided.
We always meet at this very popular and comfortable Danbury jernt called Rosy Tomorrow's. I'd been hankering for some fish and chips, so I had (wait for it) the fish and chips. I don't think I'd had any for over a year. It's a good plate, and the french fries were exceptional, almost like the way french fries used to always be back in the day before fast food ones were so ubiquitous and "predictable". I think the tartar sauce could be a little more adventurous, it seemed a little on the bland side, but that's a minor complaint indeed. We sat there for nearly three hours.

DR George, did anyone tell your mother how long it would take for the shot to work? I have heard of it taking a few days though that could have been for a different shot.

Fish and chips sound great to me.
I'm ready for more.
Two pieces of fish, and I could have used a third. But LOTS of delicious fries that reminded me of when fries were commonly cooked in beef tallow. I doubt that anyone these days does that without stating it clearly on the menu, but damn, these were satisfying.
Haven't had any in several years, but duck fat fries have become popular in some places.

DR George, I liked The God of the Woods, just not as much as other seem to have liked it.
I actively disliked it. I’m surprised at all the adulation it has received. Far too long and lengthy stretches of so what. It needed a far better editor.

I do, however, have to join the hordes in doing a quick run of panic shopping this afternoon. Just for three or four things, but still, it's a pain. And I think all of you knows just where that pain is.
When shopping pre-snow /storm days I learned quickly it was best to shop early before the crowds. I was very grateful that I could usually do just that.

Those of you who watch the Superbowl are you planning to protest it this year?
Since I had to ask why to a friend who is protesting it..... apparently the horrid pres will be there so the NFL is removing the "Stop Racism" sign at the end of the goal post just for him.
It is being replaced with, “choose love”, a nice sentiment except maybe in this situation.

Just ordered Panda Express. There are two near me - one super close, one a mile away. The mile away is better because the super close one is in a food court. Grubhub/Prime offers either location, which DoorDash does not. So, this is coming from the good location.

A few Drat annoyances this morning and I've been very strong about correcting these problems. When I sent out the rehearsal schedule, no one had sent me any conflicts - there aren't very many, and I knew two of them and scheduled accordingly. Well, not only did Doug mistype several email addresses, so that we were missing two people last night who now have to catch up, but this morning our leading man wrote, reminding us of his single conflict - it's not a problem at all except no one told me and I scheduled him for his conflict date. Thankfully, it's just flipping the following rehearsal with his conflict and voila - but it makes everyone look amateurish. Keeping things professional at every step makes happy actors.

Long day at the food pantry. We got in 52 cases of Costco churros.

They were frozen. And we had to find freezer space for them. On top of the cases of ham, pork and chicken, not to mention who knows how many cases of frozen potato chips waiting to be fried or baked. The silliest was 20 or so small cases of pumpkin spice coffee creamer.

I saw my osteopath today. He’s Canadian, but his father is from Pacific Palisades. He told that that one uncle’s house burned down. An aunt’s house didn’t burn, but 6 months ago State Farm stopped doing business in California and only told their clients at the last minute. Sorting out the insurance aspect isn’t going to be easy.

I had originally signed up to work that show also, but I forgot that I had also signed up for Harlequin Productions' show, so I got out of tomorrow's DEH so that I could see HP's Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson.
