Topic of the Day:
I have no memory of dreaming of any famous person or persons. I've had dreams that included friends of mine, but not famous people...well, that I can remember. ::)

Good morning, all!
-
Amazon Fresh, which usually arrives here between 7:00 and 7:30, arrived around 6:15 and completely blew my moprning to hell. While I put away things, three cats wanted breakfast or played in the empty bags. Then, when I fed them, Stella couldb't wait to plant her face in a bowl of minced tuna, Thatch ignored us and climbed into the cat tree, and Annabelle sniffed the food and walked away. As I took my coffee and a donut to the table, she returned to her bowl to eat.
It's no wonder I'm a complete mess.
-
I've had several dreams with celebrities - most of the time it's Steve Sondheim - but at the moment I cannot think of a single one!
-
I did have a strange one last night in which I was working on a production of something - I swear it was The Fantasticks - and the music director and I were in a quandary over different notations for the same dance break in two different scores. The young leading man was John Hendrickson, a friend I ran around with around 1977-78. I stupidly did something petty and mean that ended the friendship, and that action and its consequences have haunted me for years. John was a good kid who deserved better.
-
DR George, I hope the news on your mom's surgery is really good today.

Notes attended. Superconducted.

Good morning, all.

Good morn!

After reading the nites, I fell back asleep and had dreams about Billy Wilder stars. One involved training Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau to be pallbearers at a funeral. Marlene Dietrich was involved somehow in a dream, but I can’t remember how.
-
I’m sure I’ll think of more recent stuff. But I do recall a childhood dream of being at a small amusement park with some of the cast of Happy Days.
-
Marlene is always welcome.

Good morning, friends.

~~~CONTINUED VIBES~~~ for the DM of DR George!!!
-
Good morning, all.
We're having a "sn*w day" here, and everybody's home. We're getting a couple of inches, and unfortunately, some sleet and freezing rain will be part of the mix. Cleanup this afternoon or evening will most likely be an unpleasant task. But it has to be done because I have to get out tomorrow for a gig that, with the commute and all, is kind of an all day affair.
-
I've had dreams involving celebrities, but at the moment I'm totally blank on who some of them were. Have to think about this.
In a crazy one that I always remember from years ago, I was part of a group of people welcoming and escorting Mikhail Gorbachev at some event or other. It's possible that I was to drive him somewhere, but I really only remember us standing around in formal wear, and him arriving there. I'm not certain when I had the dream, but I'll assume it was when Gorbachev was still around. The memory and image of it has stuck with me all of these years.
-
Getting "older" is often just a state of mind...until something happens to make you feel old.
Tuesday morning of this week, I had a doctor's appointment in Augusta GA. It was a two-month colonoscopy follow-up. I was a bit put out about driving 40 minutes for what was most likely to be a 5-minute talk that could have been more conveniently conducted over the telephone.
Still, it was an opportunity to get out and, possibly, make a visit to CostCo on my way home.
The drive there was uneventful, and I got there about 15 minutes early. I parked in a garage and began walking toward the building entrance. It's an unusual location in that it's off the street, has lots of shrubs and a long sidewalk and various entrances into the building where my doctor is.
As I made my way, I began feeling a bit light-headed. I looked for a bench where I might pause for a moment or two, but there were none. I plodded onward, nearly reaching the door. And I suddenly gave out. I thought the shrubs might break my fall, but they only cushioned it. I went down, didn't get hurt or torn clothing. I simply had nothing more in me to give.
I managed to roll into a position from which I could stand if my will to do so returned. Fortuitously, a few nurses emerged from the building, along with a young man, and they all helped me to my feet. I was told I had no color in my face and they were most concerned.
One of the nurses walked me into the building and to my doctor's office. There, I checked in and then waited more than an hour for my appointment to start. I told the nurse what had happened and she took my blood pressure. it was very low.
Before he would let me leave, the doctor had my BP checked again. It was back to a normal reading.
I had no difficulty walking back to my car, but took note that I had a rather acute pain in my lower right back...exactly where I had fallen.
Since that day, I have basically stopped all movement except the necessary things. I have been using veterinary liniment and it has helped immensely. Today is much better than the days before, and I think I will likely be back to "myself" by the weekend.
I have totally removed one of my blood pressure medications from my daily dosages, and my BP has remained consistently good. I don't know how it happened that my body began needing less medication for hypertension, but it did. Lesson learned: If you can measure something for which you take drugs, measure BEFORE taking them. You could save yourself a bad end result.
And so it goes...
-
A happy Thursday to all and one.
My lunch today will be a hot pastrami sandwich, and I'm practically salivating at the thought of it.
I also enjoyed your link DR GEORGE and DR JOHN G.
I thought it was Friday....but it is Thursday.
Continued rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Oh dear, Dear Ron.
Glad it happened close to your doc and the shrubs cushioned the fall. Definitely take it easy and make sure you’re eating and hydrating.
-
Ron, sending you all kinds of best wishes.
I'm sure there's nothing good about that happening - but if there is anything good to say, it's that it was lucky it happened so close to the medical facility.
Mega vibes for Ron.
DR Ron Pulliam, that was one frightening story! It sounds to m,e as if your blood sugar dropped and you needed some sugar immediately. This happened to me at a bus stop at 8th Avenue and 57th Street, and a kind lad offered me some cand. Now I always carry in my bag a small bag of cinnamon drops.
But that may because I will be 75 years old in August and time goes on.
Thursday afternoon greetings! My Saturday and Monday obligations both went smoothly, but completely wore me out. I’ve spent the better part of the past 3 days at my craft desk prepping for a virtual event I’m doing with my sister and niece this weekend.
I did not expect to be THIS OLD......but I am dealing with it.
DR Iris, I’m so sorry to have missed your birthday! Hope you had the best day possible.
Good news DR GINNY
Yesterday there was an ice storm predicted for the evening, so Richard and I headed out about 2:30 for a late lunch and some grocery shopping. The cold, heavy rain started while we were eating, so we just came home. The trees started icing up not long after we got here and were beautiful, but I’m glad we weren’t out in the elements.
So, we’re off to Kroger - bye for now!
Been going through the prop list and deleting the 100s of props Mr. Layton added to the show that we won't need. Clearly for him, this was a set and prop show. We don't have that luxury and we'll have to just, I don't know, trust the material.
Hello, everyone.
Hi Jeanne!
-
A friend had a similar experience. He was getting faint and very tired quite often. Unbeknownst to him, TWO doctors at the same facility prescribed BP medication for him, so he was effectively taking a double dose.
Now, what’s puzzling is that pharmacy software has been around for decades and designed to prevent this sort of thing. How did it miss it? AND, my friend has had a lifelong history of LOW blood pressure. I can’t understand why he was prescribed medication to reduce his BP, unless they did it routinely based on his age. ??
-
Hi, Freddie.
-
So much in the news these days! And it changes so quickly!
-
John G, why just pie-baking? I would think you could teach a wonderful desserts class.
-
It’s been raining here. Much needed, but fortunately not heavy. We’re very susceptible to flooding now, after the fires.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
OMG, this is shocking. I'm not sure if the sofware would have picked up the double dosage. I think it is designed to pick up prescriptions that should not be used together.
This is a perfect example of why people need to see what their prescriptions are, and what they are for. With Google it is rather easy to research these things.
I also double check the pharmacy gave me the correct prescription.
I wonder if your friend suffers from "White coat hypertension". Otherwise I cannot imagine any other reason to prescribe these drugs. I don't believe age is a reason to prescribe them.
-
R Ron I hope you are moving better tomorrow.
Not exactly raining up here - just a kind of misty mist.
I’m starting a Joan Crawford -Clark Gable flick called Forsaking All Others. I think I saw it recently.
And I don’t care. It’s fun. And short. 72 minutes.
Paula, what goes on at bachelor parties?
As I understand it, very little goes on.
There is a thoroughly politically incorrect moment in Forsaking All Others when Clark Gable reminisces about growing up as a black child. I laugh hysterically every time.
Yikes! :o We're not expecting to get snow until Friday (day? night? Saturday morning? Sometime soon), but it's supposed to get down to 24°F overnight tonight...but no snow, yet.
And thanks, MichaelG for capturing it!
I haven't been posting much lately because I've been spending lots of time memorizing and keeping things memorized. So many Italian words for the chorus! But we're in the theater now and open a week from Friday.
Well, Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson - Apt 2B was quite fun!
There are only four actors (three women and one man), and a single set.
Hilarity and hijinks ensue, and a good time was had by all. :D
Gratuitous Post #222!!
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now everyone can read them.
-
I might even read them a second time.
-
Then again, I might not.
-
The choice is mine.
-
Nobody else's.
-
Mine alone.
-
Home alone.
Alone Again, Naturally.
Doin' What Comes Naturally.
When Messiah Comes.
-
When I Fall in Love.
-
Almost Like Being in Love.
-
I feel page nine is waiting in the wings.
See?
