Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the hits and now it is time for you to post until the hit cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYMATH!
-
Congratulations, John G, on your brand new posting millstone!
-
Break a leg, MichaelG!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today's kind of an all-day gig. It's only an hour-long event, but it's out in another town and we're all going in one vehicle (which is great because I don't have to drive), and what with the commute both ways plus probably hanging around a little bit, it takes up the better part of the day. Which is fine, I'm not doing anything else today. And thank GAWD there's "no weather" today.
-
So I shall have to take my leave shortly and not be back till tonight.
-
Next storm is Saturday night, all night, into Sunday morning. We only got a couple of inches yesterday, but this one will be several inches. Hopefully not the dreaded wintry mix this time, but we'll see.
-
TOD:
Nada.
I enjoyed the CD of Drat! The Cat! the other day, but I don't think I'll be getting to anything else until tomorrow.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Friday? It feels to me like Saturday!
-
I was so tired last night, I decided not to set the alarm but to sleep until I felt like getting up. I went to bed around 9:15 and slept until 6:45. Thatch and Annabelle stopped by for cuddles, but Stella was nowhere to be seen.
-
Today I begin my 2024 tax tallies. My goal is to finish up everything by Monday. I want to get everything submitted and out of my very thinning hair no later than Wednesday.
-
I really want to listen to Drat! The Cat! so I may spend some time thumbing through my iTunes mess to see if I can find it.

Congrats to DR JOHN G on his new millstone.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his Book Bonanza.

This morning at a bit passed 3 a.m. our Aunt Martha died.
She was 87 years old, my mother's baby sister.....the last of the eight siblings.
So now all of our aunts and uncles from both sides of the family are gone.
Her daughter Tina had called me yesterday to tell me that she thought it could happen anytime.....and then called with the news about 6 a.m. today.

Sorry for your loss, DR Jrand74.

Congratulations on your book bargain, BK.

~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!
-
I'm feeling that we must get to page 2 before 10 a.m. (Eastern time).
-
We must, we really must!
-
Dear Jack: I know exactly how it feels when the "last" of your "aunts/uncles" dies. I had favorites, of course, but I must say that each of my dad's brothers, sisters and in-law spouses make a mark on my heart when they passed. Of course, it's nowhere near the pain of losing a parent.
When my mom's sister, my Aunt Doris, died a week before Thanksgiving in 2022, she was the very last link to my family's past. It was, and is, devastating.
My sincere condolences for the loss of your Aunt Martha.
-
I don't know if you are all aware of Felon47's, or FOTUS', most recent egregious distraction. He has announced he has formed a committee to investigate the (bogus) discrimination against Christians.
This is just one more assault upon our Constitutional rights. He wants to obliterate freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of (and, conversely, from) religion.
Can no one rid of us of this meddlesome creep?
-
Thanks, everyone.
Yes DR RON PULLIAM thanks for sharing.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great news on the book buy, BK.
-
We’ve missed you, Michael G. Break legs. What’s that in Italian?
-
Ron, I hope you’re feeling okay.
Aren’t Christians taught to expect persecution?
I have one more "last" left. But the real "last" was, in fact, the last - or most recent - one, when my favorite uncle died two years ago. His wife was also wonderful, but he was the number one relative in my whole life, I think, and that goes back to my childhood.
-
Thanks everyone.
Performance vibes for DR MICHAEL G
Mmmm, Family Bundle. Makes me think I may have to have something fast food for lunch today.
-
We’ve missed you, Michael G. Break legs. What’s that in Italian?
Bellini's La sonnambula, an older bel canto opera that's not done very often these days. That's in part because the lead tenor is so hard to cast. We have one who sounds just effortless on the high notes and the coloratura. So much so that he is using the original higher keys instead of the more usual ones that got transposed down.
-
But this chorus is onstage through nearly the whole thing. We're present in all but one number, and are only offstage for maybe 25 minutes of the entire two-act opera.
-
May her memory be a blessing, DR Jrand74.
-
Thank you.
-
I just got one of those texts that DR RODZINSKI wrote about a few weeks ago.....telling me to pay my tolls.....junk/delete.
-
I just got an email that says the sender is Elon Musk. I doubt that it's legitimate. :)
Well, today will be a day. I have to go to my mom's to feed her cat Henry, then (hopefully) get me some lunch at Eagan's and visit my friend Judy who works there, then watch my friend Margo's do for an hour or so so that Margo can get some gas and an oil change for her car (her dog Veronica had her ankle replaced a couple of weeks ago, but the bone broke so now she has to have that dealt with on Monday), then I might have time to visit my mom in the hospital, then go back to her place to feed Henry and maybe spend the night there to keep Henry company. ::)
-
Whew! :o
-
Until later!
-
Have fun DR GEORGE and thanks.
-
Hi all, myname is Vixmom and I have been E &T
-
I just noticed what I wrote when DR GEORGE quoted it....
Of course "passed" should be "past."
I should not be on the computer at 6 a.m.
-
I am back from visiting the kids in Florida and woefully behind on everything, not the least of which being this here site
-
Jack, my condolences on the loss of your aunt.
-
Congratulations to BK on the spectacular book deal
-
The trip to and from Florida was the best we've experienced in some time.
-
We had two vehicles again so we could deliver more Vixstuff to the Vixes
-
The weather and the roads were clear, no traffic jams and no troublesome roadworks
-
(There were roadworks but they weren't troublesome)
-
We've changed from hotel in Lumberton we've been stopping at for the past 25 years or so.
-
Our last visit it was evident it had been taken over by a new owner who neglected everything, we won't be back.
-
On our way back last time we found a Holiday Inn just one exit ( 2 miles) from our old place and it's quite lovely. Convenient and includes a breakfast at the attached Dennys
-
Vixson was a delight. I was worried he woukd be shy around us but he starting laughing and reaching to be picked up as soon as he saw us
-
He's a easy baby, no real crying, just some loud announcements ( without tears) if he wanted a diaper change or was getting hungry
-
We went to a pirate adventure dinner , a Christmas gift from the kids to us, that was a lot of fun.
-
They encourage you to dress like a pirate when you come and we are the sort of family that has elaborate costumes in our closets.
-
LOL!
-
Amazon provided a cheap and cheerful babysized pirate suit so we went out in style.
-
It was a lot of fun and the show was quite spectacular.
Wonderful!
-
I am forbidden from posting photos of vixson on the interwebs, but I can dm anyone interested in seeing the silliness
-
Our last visit it was evident it had been taken over by a new owner who neglected everything, we won't be back.
That's too bad. But great that you found a replacement place easily.
-
The show took place inside of a building dressed to look piratey , with a pickup of a ship outside
-
I am forbidden from posting photos of vixson on the interwebs
Good idea to be careful!
-
Look, page 4!
-
Once inside you ended your way through a narrow hallway until you got to a waiting room.area where they had gift shops and a couple of bars.
-
Inside the show area there was a huge pirate ship, around which were rows of banquet tables.
-
They were divided into sections identified by color and each was assigned a pirate ( wearing that color) for whom to cheer
-
The storyline was weak and the songs unremarkable but the aerial gymnastics, acrobatics, sword fights etc were spectacular.
-
The dinner served ( we just had the basic, chicken, taters and veggies with a hot brownie dessert) was fine
-
All in all fine family entertainment and I look forward to going again in a couple of years when Vixson can participate in the kid participation portion
-
We got home Monday night, went to work Tuesday and Wednesday night I went out to see David Tennant as MacBeth, a film of a live production performed in the UK
-
I quite enjoyed it
-
I saw it at a local speciality theatre The Huntington Arts Cinema
-
BK, your friend Bruce Villianch will be there March 3 to show his document , have a interview and Q&A and booksigning.
-
I think I will go
Her daughter Tina had called me yesterday to tell me that she thought it could happen anytime.....and then called with the news about 6 a.m. today.
When I no long had any aunts or uncles Keith still had one of each. Now we have none. It feels very strange. I am sorry for your loss.
-
For the second morning in a row I had an early doctor's appointment.
Fortunately this one was a bit later as I needed the extra time.
-
Keith wasn't feeling well when we went to bed last night. Just before I was about to leave for my appointment he took a covid test. Due to the positive results I quickly took a test. I set the test and left it for Keith to watch while heading to my appointment. Keith called while I was on the road to say the results were, as expected, negative.
I wore a mask as did the doctor and his assistant.
-
On the way home I stopped at the market to get a few things for Keith, and of course ending up buying extra stuff.
-
I just ate breakfast, Cream of Wheat which I also purchased.
-
Thanks DR JANE and DR VIXMOM - and anyone I missed.
-
DR VIXMOM your trip sounds fantastic!
I have always been of the opinion that you can make fun happen if you participate......you are proof of that!
Welcome home!
-
MR BK must be busy today answering emails and working on DRAT!
-
We are at 36 degrees headed for 40 degrees.
-
I went to Walgreens to spend my Humana money.
I didn't realize that some items were Buy One Get One Free and others were Buy One Get One at 50% off.
Hilarity ensued at the check out. But KIM the young lady at the counter was most helpful and understanding.
-
Time marches on.
-
My late Aunt Martha often visited us and brought her record player and all of her 45 rpm records.
We were introduced to many singers that we grew to love.
She was also the ONLY one of my aunts who decided on a career instead of a husband and spent a few years as a real estate agent and loan officer.
And she was beautiful.......
Things took a bad turn when she fell in love a married a useless bum.....my grandfather had promised a piece of his land to each of his children. Her husband asked for his and it was given. And within two years he had SOLD it causing much drama......
Things went south quickly after that....anything bad you can imagine transpired.....including another aunt adopting her daughter......
Wow! I finished all my tallies from eBay and Amazon putrchases, and I may actually finish up my taxes sooner than expected.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a bit over eight hours of sleep, got up at eleven-thirty.
-
Got the first attempt at the designed book, so have been going through that to get the main stuff - mostly spacing things - very minor. Then it'll be a proper proofing. It looks very spiffy, though.
-
I was going to go to the mail place and out for food, but I have stuff here for Wacky Noodles and I want to do prep work for tomorrow.
-
JRand, sorry to hear about your aunt and the closing of that chapter.
-
More than a chapter, a whole big part of your story.
-
My dad was one of 12.
Of that group, two remain. My aunt Pat and Uncle Bill.
Bill’s wife is still with us. Then my dad’s youngest brother’s wife is alive.
So 3 aunts and an uncle keeping that part of my story alive.
-
BK, great job on the books buy!
Great that the progress has been this smooth!
Making Wacky Noodles now. Sketched out at least the shape of Holmes and Watson. The rest I like to do on the fly when I see how the actors move and look doing steps. Then Cheryl Baxter adds the zhuzh and arms and stuff.
Yay! The old refrigerator has been removed.
The new one will shortly be installed.
I want a new refrigerator.
I hope you get one soon. Ours had a few scary things wrong with it, plus celery and carrots began wilting after a day in there. Fingers crossed this keeps our food fresh.
-
Once they arrived I rushed to empty the old fridge. Keith had already begun doing so.
-
He had old Verner's in there someone gifted him and accidentally left them. I didn't notice until we put the food into the new refrigerator ;D
-
This has NOTHING to do with today's happenings.
But why do people I hate and who are hateful uninvolved people start Go Fund Me pages for folks I care about?
-
I don't think we left anything else in there. Most of the food is at my neighbor's and I will collect it once everything is cold in there.
-
I will NOT donate.
Sending hugs.
LOL DR JANE......hang in there, kid!
-
I always wanted a fridge with bottom drawer freezer.....but I haven't found one that will fit in my Fridge space......
You may remember how many we looked at that didn't fit. This one basically fits. We have to leave it pulled out some so the doors don't hit something when we open them. The one side with the oven, the one we worried about, is fine. The other side we thought was fine will hit the wall if we open it too fast. I am now worried about denting the new fridge, and the wall.
-
Vernor's......if you haven't tried it.....do so! Highly recommended.
I got four hours into my great Courses class on King Arthur in medieval literature before the first mention of the musical Camelot. The instructor says C’est Moi is fairly faithful to the French manuscripts concerning Lancelot. That’s nice to know.
I listened to a couple of lectures while planting two iceberg roses and watering the backyard.
It’s 81 degrees and bright out there.
Fascinating in what the story doesn't say.
What are you referring to, John G?
Was the footage too bad to edit? Too expensive to do any reshoots?
-
Tony Roberts has died. He was 85.
-
My friend Carol got him to autograph the CD booklet of How Now Dow Jones for me. She worked wardrobe on A Christmas Carol when he was Scrooge.
-
Eight!
-
I love BK's work on the Sugar cast album.
-
But now it's the weekend.
Enjoy it.
Interesting questions.
Maybe more will come out later.
Ditto to that!
Even though our freezer still needs more time to be at the correct temperature I went and got our frozen food from the neighbor. Supposedly with the freezer full it will get cold faster.
-
Good evening!
-
My condolences to DR JRand
-
Congrats on your milestone, DR JohnG!
-
Keith got Wordle in three today.
Me too (again)!
-
Nice :)
Wacky Noodles were very good.
-
Had some telephonic conversations.
-
And now - movie time.
Billy Wilder wanted Tom Ewell to have an affair in The Seven Year Itch, which would only be told when a housekeeper finds an earring in the bed. The censors wouldn't allow it.
I don't think the movie would work as well if that scene had been included. It would have dampened the sunny, innocent sexiness of the rest of the movie, the sweetness of Ewell's character that Marilyn praises at the end.
-
I agree. That would have ruined it.
-
Good evening.
-
I'm sorry for your loss, JRand.
-
I only met my aunt and uncle once or twice. My parents moved from back east to Arizona in 1950, and there wasn't much in person contact after that.
My mother was adopted, and I never knew her side of the family.
-
I spent the day at the arboretum. I hadn't been there in quite a while. There is a family of coatimundis that has been hanging around. And a hooded skunk.
-
Coatimundis are cute. You can keep the skunk.
-
All of the animals were in bad light and were rooting in the dirt for bugs and grubs.
-
So only a couple of the hundreds of photos turned out.
-
A hooded skunk is unusual out here. Usually we see striped skunks.
For those of us at HHW with sleep apnea, this treatment sounds horrible.
With the Freezer Full will be the title of my next novella.
A chilling tale.
On Sunday afternoon I will be attending a Super Bowl party of gay men who refuse to watch the game.
-
Hijinks will ensue.
Sounds like fun. Will you open with a rousing chorus of Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing?
;D
Tissue?
Chocolate mousse brownies.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Chocolate mousse brownies.
Yes, please.
Strange Cargo is an odd movie. It’s kind of a precursor of Lifeboat, in that it’s a drama on board a boat of people lost at sea. But most are ugly, including Joan Crawford’s prostitute.
The Critics Choice Awards were tonight. Two awards were given to people not nominated for Oscars.
-
But it’s this attack on the worst dressed that brought great laughs.
The comments on David Alan Grier, Hannah Einbender (sp?) and Bowen Yang that are particularly apt.
A chilling tale.
I’ve started Coup de Chance, the French Woody Allen movie that Bk wrote about recently. The leading lady is quite charming with big blue eyes. And the movie so far is charming.
-
But I can’t finish it tonight.
-
The jazz soundtrack is lovely.
-
I wore shorts for the first time this year. Tomorrow's forecast says it'll be 87.
-
And next week, we're supposed to get into the 40s again.
-
That's it for me tonight.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
No posts in two hours.
And George is gone with the wind.
-
Where the HELL is he?
-
Not very sporting.
-
New notes are written.
-
George ain't here.
-
I'm here.
-
And I do have the feeling that page ten is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Of course, had George been here we could already be on page twelve. But noooooooo.
-
I'm gettin' to bed early tonight.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
I'll shout it to the heavens.
-
I'll shout it to the HELLS.
-
Georgie porgie, Porgie and Bess.
Right.
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
I wrote them.
