Topic of the Day: I have this vague memory of going to a couple of elementary school dances, but nothing really vivid. I know I never went to dances in middle school or high school.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm feeling much better today, thank God. I spent the evening watching TV and feeliong queasy. I can't even tell you now what I watched. Annabelle and Stella wore their nurse's caps andnded to the invalid, while Doctor Thatch stayed in the cat tree and insisted he did not do house calls.
-
I have an information sheet from my new accountant I must fill out today, and I have no plans that.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's a Monday. For sure.

TOD
Not sure if it was just a dance thing, or some school party that included dancing, but the first one I attended was in seventh grade at my junior high school. No idea what time of year, as this was in South Florida, but the school year was 1960-61 and it was some evening thing held in the outdoor patio or courtyard area at the school. The Twist was the current craze, and I remember being very awkward at getting the moves, and getting the HELL off the dance floor at first opportunity.
I guess I learned my lesson about going to dances because the next one I remember was my high school prom five years later. That wasn't so traumatic, as much of the music that had to be danced to was traditional, and I think we even got a little bit of coaching on basic dancing beforehand. I guess I got through that one okay.
Hmm ...
I'll let you know when the third time comes around.
-
Have I mentioned it being a Monday?
It is, you know.
-
Good morning, friends.

And others.

TOD: At the Yeshivah of Flatbush High School in Brooklyn, there was dancing in the gym every month on the "New Moon" at the beginning of each Hebrew month.
As a fellow Yeshivah high school student described it (I'm paraphrasing) "It's fun to explain to people in college who have never been in a Yeshivah that at the start of every Hebrew month, the first three class periods in the morning were cancelled for dancing in the gym to welcome in the New Moon."
-
Google's AI describes it as: The new moon in the Hebrew calendar is celebrated as Rosh Chodesh, which means "head of the month". It is a minor holiday that marks the beginning of each month.
-
Good morning, all.

Staging vibes for MR BK & Co.

Not much happening here today.
I am leaving everything until tomorrow....and Wednesday.
-
I know when I first saw Witness For The Prosecution on the Late Saturday Night Movie on WFBM.....when Christine picks up the letter opener and rushes toward Steven I heard her say: "Perjury....why not for MURDER?" as she stabs him.
But ever since then the word "murder" is not there.....has anyone else seen it the first way.....or is this discussed in any of the extras or interviews anyone has read/seen?
-
Or maybe I just imagined it.
-
Page Two.
-
Mine was also at a 7th grade dance held in the gym.....it was most entertaining....I decided I would operate the record player....and took requests....not much time for dancing.
-
It is 24 degrees headed for 35 degrees.....

Isn't there a wise saying, something like: Never put off until tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely.

My tablet is slow today.

When I was a kid, I wanted to dance like Fred Astaire. I didn't start dance lessons until my late thirties. By then it was too late to fulfill that career ambition to be a go-go dancer in a cage.

Au contraire -- I think if you dropped in at your local city hall, you'd find that MUCH is happening.

DR Rodzinski: Just acknowledging that in my post last night, I misspelled "steuerpimpel" (it's German, so "el" instead of "le"), the little rubber thingy in a Dual that makes the tonearm go where it's supposed to, and when, and God knows what else but they wear out eventually and then nothing does what it's supposed to.

I have to check the DVD. I would swear she says "murder," but . . .

It's ridiculous after having gastrointestinal issues yeaserday, but I just made chili. I'll freeze most of it. I had to use the ground beef and pork before the meat wenb bad.

Happy 98th birthday to Leontyne Price, a woman who always knew how to hang in there.

Beautiful poster for "Drat! The Cat!", Bruce!
-
Am moving around much better lately. There is still the occasional sharp twitchy pain when I move a certain way. I do my best not to move that way.
Still, am ready to get on with doing things that haven't been done for more than a week.
-
OMG, yes! The poster is gorgeous!!
-
I was thrilled beyond words that the Eagles beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl yesterday.
Primarily, it was because FOTUS was braying that the Chiefs were the best team, had the better record, would undoubtedly win, and that Patrick Mahomes' wife is a huge MAGA supporter.
Today, he blames DEI, Taylor Swift and others for the loss.
His overwrought ego is so damning!
-
Hello! I ended up with an unexpected weekend in NY
-
Saturday night was supposed to be the annual chili cookoff at my church , but it was cancelled (postponed without a new date) on Friday due to weather concerns
-
I had a ticket to see the matinee of Kowalski ( along with 2 friends) on Sunday (yesterday) and mentioned my concerns that snow woukd keep the trains from running in the morning
-
Vixdad volunteered to buy me a hotel room so I could get into the city before the storm and would not miss the show
-
So I took him up on his offer and in I went.
-
I checked in around 730 pm and decided to see if I could get a walk on ticket to a show ( i was just 3 blocks from.the theatre district)
-
I wandered over to the theatre where Indina Menzel is starring in Redwood and snagged a $286.50 center orchestra seat for $99
-
I quite enjoyed the show, excellent performances, breathtaking stagecoach, but I found the songs unremarkable.
-
Then I went back to my room and had a nice sleep
-
The show on Sunday, Kowalski, was in a small blackboard theatre, and purported to tell the story of the first meeting between Tennessee Williams and Marlon Brando prior to production of Streetcar
-
It was excellent.
-
We had first row center seats and since the set was at floor level rather than raised it was as if we were in the room with them
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
It's a limited run so I think it closes in a couple of weeks but I definitely recommend it if anyone else can get there
-
BK the poster looks fabulous
-
Will the show be filmed so that those of us geographically challenged will be able to see it?
-
Im.not caught up so I must do that soon
-
First dance? We learned square dancing in gym class starting in kindergarten which continued through about 6th grade
-
There were square dance nights at the school so maybe around age 5 or 6
-
Lunch break is over so I'll try to get back tonight
-
I quite enjoyed the show, excellent performances, breathtaking stagecoach, but I found the songs unremarkable.
Breathtaking stagecoach?
-
Glad you had a good time in NYC, vixmom!
-
Happy 98th birthday to Leontyne Price, a woman who always knew how to hang in there.
Wow...98 years old! Happy Birthday to her!

DR Laura, LOL regarding boycotting the Superbowl.

Congrats, Vixmom! ;D
-
LOL regarding the grandson and the joke book ;D
-
DR George, double thanks.
-
From DR George,
I liked it, but it's my least favorite of the three books that he's written.
Thanks. I will read Artemis and not expect it to be great.
-
It is rare that I am not a librocubicularist.
-
:)
Was this one for me? Surprisingly I haven't seen it before.
-
Missing dog. If anyone Caesar, please lettuce know.
It is very cute, and clever.

That was an excellent reason to be glad. I was also glad having lived outside of Philly for 5.5 years :)

OMG, yes! The poster is gorgeous!!
I forgot to mention that. I loved the poster!
-
John, how you ever had jigsaw puzzle made from a photo?
-
We are on the third week of listening to, and feeling vibrations, from the remodel next door. The dust has been so thick you would think we were doing the work.
-
I spent the morning dusting and Keith is now dusting, and rearranging his office.
-
My allergies have been terrible. I think it is just allergies and not covid.
-
I'll test this afternoon.
-
Well, knock me over! I just received an mp3 file of a trial ruin of Chapter One of the audiobook for Annabelle & Thatch. I was rather impressed.
-
John, how you ever had jigsaw puzzle made from a photo?
I have not.
-
Reading the responses to todays question, before reading the notes, I thought it was about school dances ;D
-
OMG, yes! The poster is gorgeous!!
I agree. A really beautiful poster!

Good afternoon.

My son and DIL have had a Monday. One of the neighboring condos had a pipe burst. Their floors were flooded. Again.

Great news on the audiobook, Elmore.
-
Beautiful DRAT! poster indeed.
-
Good news about the audio book sample DR ELMORE.
-
I didn't know that Taylor Swift played for the Eagles.
-
DR VIXMOM is that the meeting where Marlon came in and fixed all the broken plumbing in the beach house?
-
DR Rodzinski: Just acknowledging that in my post last night, I misspelled "steuerpimpel" (it's German, so "el" instead of "le"), the little rubber thingy in a Dual that makes the tonearm go where it's supposed to, and when, and God knows what else but they wear out eventually and then nothing does what it's supposed to.
Ugh. A job for a specialist. I did overhear the guy at the repair shop I was at saying he’s booked out for two months of turntable repairs.
-
While at the in laws retirement home, I caught the last segment of The Story of Three Loves, the final part of the triptych featured Kirk Douglas and Pier Angeli as acrobats. Stunning footage, really. And Pier was lovely.

Oh, Kowalski . I thought you said Rodzinski.

Starting The Lost Weekend. The last time I saw it, I really didn’t like it. I’m appreciating it much more this time. I can’t say I am enjoying it. It’s not about enjoyment.

Let’s ditch this page.

Proofing away - lordy, did we all miss a lot o' stuff.

Lox and bagels for food.

Did some prep work and will do more later.

Halfway through the book now.
-
The stuff we missed, however, is really minor.
-
My son and DIL have had a Monday. One of the neighboring condos had a pipe burst. Their floors were flooded. Again.
Oh no. I hope only the floors were flooded and there isn't any other damage.
-
Well, my allergies getting worse is not due to the dust created by our neighbors.
-
It is due to covid.
-
It is a strange world we live in when we have to cancel a doctor's appointment because we are sick.
-
My new appointment isn't until the end of April.
-
It is due to covid.
:(

Good night, all.

I'll send the fixes list in when I get up tomorrow.

Don't think I have a movie in me tonight after seven hours of proofing.

I watched a couple of movies a vampire movie with gay characters called Bite Marks which was kind of funny.
A documentary about Broadway producer Leonard Soloway which was very entertaining and informative.

I'm at my mom's house, and will be here for the night to help her, if she needs any help.
-
She's getting better at being able to take care of herself, so she feels that I don't need to be here, but I'll stay anyway.
-
My son and DIL have had a Monday. One of the neighboring condos had a pipe burst. Their floors were flooded. Again.
Oh, my goodness! :o
-
I hate it when that happens...and it's happened to my neighbors on both sides! :P

Hopefully, they can everything repaired or replaced easily and inexpensively!
