More vibes and xylophones for BK's CAT scan to be not too bad!!!
-
Thanks, BK, for the fascinating rehearsal detail on DRAT! THE CAT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
For some reason, I got out of bed thinking today was Saturday. Before that, around 4:30, I decided to sleep in since it was Saturday and I felt like it. When I decided to get up and stop cuddling with the cats, it was 6:35, about an hour after my usual wakeup time, so I am now one hour behind my usual daily schedule.
-
I slept very well last night, so I'm hoping today goes smoothly.
-
I still wish - and will continue to do so - I could get to LA for Drat! The Cat! We want some photos, BK! I want to see what the folk you mention look like and I'd really like to know who's playing what.
-
I spent some time yesterday on line, running through the Amazon Prime listing of movies. There are many I would like to watch or see again, but when I actually get to Amazon Prime on the TV, I can never remember. Netflix at least lets you keep a tally of what you want to watch, but Amazon Prime lets you down on that.
-
;)
-
Amazon Fresh must be busy today. I placed an order just now and the first time frame they could schedule the delivery was for 7 to 9 PM.
-
Drat! The Cat Scan!
Well somebody had to say it.
-
It's kind of like being in a submarine or echo chamber. The weird noises are what always make me a bit nervous.....but they are normal.
-
Drat! The Cat Scan!
Well somebody had to say it.
Well done!
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s a Saturday here, too!
I got both housemates here, and it’s impossible to shake the feeling.
-
Two (2) different segments of very weird dreams.
-
Drat! The Cat Scan!

Thank you! I had felt one coming, but you beat me to it.
-
;)
Perfect. That’s wonderful.

We’ve been ketchuping - finally! - on the two seasons of 9-1-1 we missed. It starts up again in early March.
Still have to do the same with 9-1-1 Lone Star. Oy!

This is one that BK really must get video’d.

All dressed up and ready for a trip to bountiful....er....I mean....Sugar Grove.
My maternal great grandfather and his sisters gave the land for the cemetery in the 1890's.....most of my mother's relatives are buried there.
I wish they kept it up a bit more.....but it's still a nice place. Not sure how they will handle the opening in this weather....s**w on the ground and 11 degrees....but it is just a cremation box...not the whole B I G thing.
We shall see.

Online, yes. On the television, not in my house.

Good morning, chums!

Not to be confused with the Ritz Brothers film, “Hiya Chum!”

One thing I remember about Richard from Scarlet Street. He despised the Ritz Brothers.
-
He’s not the only one.
-
Yes he did.

My scapula showed mild improvement yesterday. The in-laws are still in the hospital, but also mildly improved. Canada doesn’t boot you out of the hospital as fast as possible. The flip side is you might sit in there unseen by a doctor for a couple days at a time.
-
Thanks to everyone for the nice posts.
It was very cold. My cousin put her mother's container in its place along with the ashes of her mother's cat who had passed was cremated last summer.
My cousin, her daughter and grandson, a friend from her work, myself and cousins Carol & Marcie [sisters] were there.
After a moment of silence I read the poem "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep" the performance of which will probably get me the Tony nomination this year.
And then we all came home.
-
Whew!
-
Both the in-laws are in rooms of their own, not sitting in a hall or anything, to be clear. Nurses come by.
-
Sounds appropriately lovely, JRand.
-
How *did* they open the frozen ground?

Best Actor in a Supportive Role?
-
My mother's funeral service at the cemetery in Queens (two years ago this month) from Zoom are in an "unlisted" place on YouTube, and we gave the link to cousins who couldn't take part that day. It's nice to go look at it from time to time.
Too bad we hadn't thought of YouTube for my father's funeral which was also at the cemetery, in 2021, but there's lots of him and my mom in the video for Mom's funeral
-
I like that category DR FREDDIE.
-
DR RODZINSKI they did it yesterday. They use a hot heater pointed straight at the ground for a few hours.
It was a small square since it was for a cremation box but it was six feet deep. My cousin laid on her front on a blue cloth, the attendant held her feet and she dropped the box in. The attendant gave her the option of letting him do it, but she wanted to do it herself. Then she dropped the cat container in afterwards.
-
It is 22 degrees now headed for 29 degrees and CLEAR.
-
That sounds lovely DR FREDDIE.
-
Jrand - The attendant held her feet?
-
Is that part of the custom?

That sounds lovely DR FREDDIE.
The result is lovely to have.
It wasn't great that my brother Macbeth and his wife Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford NJ took total control and gave no one besides my brother Macbeth room to speak -
But brother Macbeth did speak very very well, and they chose videos and photos very well, I would agree.

DR MichaelG --
No hurry whatever, but could you do me a quick favor if you still have GenealogyBank kicking around? It's great they have the Columbus Dispatch, and I wonder if they have the Danbury News-Times in Connecticut. I'll take a subscription at some point when I have time to spend on either of these areas, just looking for a heads up. Thanks!

Yes, they have the Danbury News-Times from March 1951 through mid-July 1997.

Hi I'm back in hope
-
Starting Aloha, Bobby and Rose. It's not a great movie, but I love the soundtrack. It started with Artie Shaw's Begin the Beguine, then cuts to Elton's great Bennie and the Jets. The rest has been like that.

Anybody had Rochester’s famous garbage plate?
Rochester (#46) boasts its own regionally specific dishes to enjoy. Arguably one of the most well-known is the garbage plate, made legendary by Nick Tahou Hots. The loaded plate, piled high with macaroni salad, home fries, two cheese burgers, chopped onions, mustard, and meat hot sauce, was a must-eat for comedian Jim Gaffigan who visited the city in early 2020 and asked fans for the most legit version of the dish.
-
Hurray for DR JANE.
-
Yes DR FREDDIE - since no one can really reach down six feet.....the attendant held my cousins feet so she could reach down as far as possible before letting go of the container.
My aunt was buried next to her husband who had passed away in 1997 - the headstone has been in place since then....and the engravers will come out in the next couple of weeks and add her last dates to the stone.
-

Oh my, she had to reach down INTO the hole in the ground, not just drop the remains!
I hadn't mentally pictured that.
-
The movie has completely fallen apart with five minutes to go. Even the fourth playing of Bennie and the Jets has failed to amuse.
-
I think I speak for many when I say it's a relief to hear that DR JRand74's cousin was safely spared from going into the hole herself.
The last thing we needed today was any unexpected or otherwise, um, exciting development overshadowing a Tony-worthy performance. Lord knows, careers have been made or broken over less.

When we had a service for my MIL, they opened the box and handed out a scoop. Everyone was invited to scoop some ashes onto the ground by the rose bush. This was at the church.
-
My grandson was 2.5 at the time. He thought it was great fun.
-
I thought it was ... unconventional.

Back from the CAT scan - interesting at every step, but I'll save that for the notes.
-
Glad you survived it, BK. Have been thinking about you today.
-
Went to Genghis Cohen and ordered the usual orange chicken and some garlic chicken. Both were kind of disappointing - not as good over close to as good as usual. Since there is literally no one there that I recognize anymore, I wonder if they sold it to someone else. That would account for the taste of each dish.
-
Drive time was excellent, about thirty minutes, which got me there forty-five minutes early, so I just parked and played on the phone until three-thirty, and then I went the few blocks and used the Valet, which is the same cost as parking yourself - seven bucks.
-
I have tons of leftover orange and garlic chicken.
-
I don’t understand why Kieran Culkin is listed as the supporting actor in A Real Pain. He’s the star of the movie.
-
Leftover Orange and Garlic Chicken is the name of my next novel.

Always wanted to try that. Had a knockoff somewhere. Lower Manhattan I think.

BK you one cool CAT.

I’m not watching anything, but my six-year-old is watching her favorite show, “Is it Cake.” She’s obsessed. Still have to see if we can go meet the Sikh baker from Surrey who won season 4.
