Well, you've read the notes, the notes noted tonight's invited dress rehearsal, and now it is time for you to post until the invited cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ALLAY!

Topic of the Day: I always preferred spearmint gum over other minty flavors, but I didn't mind the others. I liked bubble gum and gumballs, but I wasn't a regular gum chewer. I wouldn't pass up an offer, but I never sought it out.
-
Apple pie is the apple of my eye.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.

~~~DRESS REHEARSAL VIBES~~~ tonight for BK & Company!!!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I slept rather well, a pleasant surprise after the last horrendous nights.
-
DR ChasSmith, I cannot scan the sheet music I have since it's too large for the screen, but I did find this lead sheet on Google Images.
-
Ann and Jen are off to Italy for spring break, so I had a nice visit wth them when they brought their mailbox key to me yesterday afternoon. I hope they have a fabulous time.
-
After I take the recyclables to the basement and pick up the mail, I have no plans whatsoever. According to IRS "Where's My Refund?" mine should land in my bank at any time, so I may take some time to get all my financial ducks in order.
-
I was reading about comments from White House Press secretary, Mean Girl Suprema and tariff authority Karoline Leavitt, in yeaterday's press conference. She badmouthed the French and gave one of her "I'm arrogant because I know when I die the word 'cu&t' will be removed from the English language" snarky comments - just like her tariff response to another reporter last week - to a CNN reporter asking about proof to Leavitt's claim that Joe Biden was mentally impaired: "you're a re4porter; figure it out."
When this Leavitt bitch falls, I hope I'm alive to see it.
-
As a child I remember Bazooka bubblegum, with a comic in every wrapper.
-
I dont chew gum anymore
I was very disappointed that Lidl only had seedless rye my last visit
-
I was spreading cream cheese on my rye toast when it suddenly occurred to me
-
I have caraway seeds!
-
So I sprinkled some on top of my cream cheese topped rye toast
-
Voila! Rye toast and cream cheese with caraway seeds, as no doubt the good Lord intended
5 gum has a great flavor called RPM that I’m all about. Canada doesn’t sell it, only the U.S.
-
Good morning, all.
Not a good time to be antagonizing the French. We’re off to Paris on Friday. Mrs R has ordered us clothing with maple leafs and “Canada” conspicuous. Sad but true.
TOD
I haven't chewed gum in decades. I liked it, but even then it wasn't something that pops up when I think about my childhood years.
Mine were mainly the Wrigley gums (certainly spearmint, but what were the others?), some bubble gum now and then (but I was never a fanatical bubble gum blower), and Dentyne - which I hadn't remembered or thought about in years. Back then it was just that one flavor variety in that little stick, and wasn't it marketed as somehow good for your teeth or at least as a breath freshener?
I do remember Black Jack licorice gum, most likely from later years as opposed to early ones, but I can't place a time frame on that. I'm sure I loved it, since I love most licorice.
Well, having typed all of that, now it IS a thing that pops up when I think about my childhood years. I believe chewing gum really was a staple of sorts. To me, now, it's just odd, and I'd have no desire to have any. Except I should try the Black Jack again. And, credit where due: What originally re-ignited my awareness of it in recent years was BK's references to it in the books.
-
DR ChasSmith, I cannot scan the sheet music I have since it's too large for the screen, but I did find this lead sheet on Google Images.
Thank you, sir! Anything will help.
It's so odd - and most irritating sometimes - how certain songs or other pieces of music seem to have become so sucked up in the almighty FOR SALE ONLY machine that NO good copies - sometimes even the most execrable homemade ones - are to be found. Whereas with others, there are scads of copies in various flavors available everywhere you turn.
-
Well, kids...
St. Patrick's Day has come and gone, there are plenty of leftovers from yesterday's labours, and today I'm back at it again with Bob who is a Sponge. He's also your uncle, but maybe that's another story. Today's rehearsal is the ONLY ONE this week, which seems like a remarkable thing right about now. Next week I'm back in the rat race full time.
Paris! Ooo la la!
Mind your pronunciations, DR Rodzinski. And have a wonderful trip!
-
Tuesday morning greetings! My mood was elevated somewhat yesterday by a dish of cherry chocolate chip at Graeter’s.
-
Ah, Graeter's.
My mood could be elevated right NOW with a dish of that, DR Ginny.
-
Hope you and the family have a wonderful trip, DR Rodzinski.
Wrigley’s:
Spearmint
Doublemint
Juicy Fruit
DR ChasSmith, I cannot scan the sheet music I have since it's too large for the screen, but I did find this lead sheet on Google Images.
Oh, my...
DR Elmore, I had just saved this and went back to take a closer look at it, when -- (yes, I need more coffee) -- I realized it's "The Man I Love", not "The Man That Got Away". :D
But thank you, anyway! I don't think you'd have any better luck with the other song either. :)
-
More coffee!!
-
And maybe some leftover soda bread and Irish butter, while I'm at it.
-
I have the sheet music to The Man I Love in the vocal selections from New York, New York. Do you need it? How would I get that to you? I don’t have a scanner
-
Finally got the Ina Gartin audiobook. I have two more to finish first, including Oprah’s latest, The Tell, which is kinda underwhelming so far. But it should pick up.
-
No, but thank you. It's "The Man That Got Away" that I was looking for.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I posted the sheet music on Facebook and tagged you in the post.
It's from a weird Reader's Digest Music book - so it looks strange, but it may help.
It posted out of order - but there are page numbers at the bottom.
-
Invited to dress rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co & Cat.
Bookcase still up for grabs! It's trash day I hope the Jack's guys don't throw it in their truck.
Bazooka Bubble Gum and Fruit Stripe Gum.
And Teaberry Gum.
-
Ah, Graeter's.
My mood could be elevated right NOW with a dish of that, DR Ginny.
Cherry chocolate chip was their special February flavor and we had some a few weeks ago. We were delighted to find it still on the menu yesterday.
TOD: No love for Wrigley's wintergreen gum? That was my favorite. I can't remember my favorite bubble gum, though. I know Bazooka was OK, and the gum that came with Topps baseball cards was really bad.
-
I love wintergreen, it's my favorite of the mint flavors going all the way to Life Savers and "Wint-O-Green". Sadly, I don't recall it as a gum flavor.
-
I am getting ready to take a shower. I hope the Mormons don't show up again.
-
At least make sure you don't leave the front door unlocked.
-
DR John, your deep dish apple pie looks amazing!
-
DR George I loved ordering from Chewy and miss those deliveries.
-
I was very disappointed that Lidl only had seedless rye my last visit
That would be disappointing for me as well. I don't know where to buy a good rye here.
Shower over sans Mormons.
Have a wonderful time. Our friends who just returned from traveling returned our Canadian pins that we will be taking with us on our upcoming trip.
We will also tell people that we are from Vancouver ;)
-
“Your new boyfriend is very charming, but his breath is quite alarming. Brush your breath with Dentyne.”
:) I wish I could still get Dentyne.
-
Finally got the Ina Gartin audiobook.
I postponed checking my eBook out until next month and closer to my book discussion on the book.
I am getting ready to take a shower. I hope the Mormons don't show up again.
-
DR John, your deep dish apple pie looks amazing!
It tastes great, too. But I learned one thing the hard way, to pardon a pun. The apples on sale yesterday were evercrisp. They don’t soften much when baking, or so I now know. And yes, the pie is crisp. Soft enough to cut a bite with my fork, but the texture is on the toothsome side of things.
-
And the pie crust tastes great. I will have to experiment with it again. It is different in that it calls for both butter and cream cheese.
-
Ready for more?
-
Pie!
Wow, that looks tasty!
-
Ready for four?
Watching the second part of Emil und die Detective, an early German film with script by Billie Wilder. It’s fun, because it’s about a gang of kids, “detectives,” who help out a kid who has been drugged and robbed. Unfortunately, it’s entirely in German with no subtitles.
-
But kids are kids, even in a Billie Wilder script.
-
They’re smoking cigarettes and fighting over girls, even though they look to be younger than springtime.
-
Not a good time to be antagonizing the French. We’re off to Paris on Friday. Mrs R has ordered us clothing with maple leafs and “Canada” conspicuous. Sad but true.
I'd read that Americans did this during tRump's first term.
I wouldn't expect to be mentioned. Joshie was in charge of this project, and he and Jason should get all the credit. I doubt Andy Einhorn even knew I was involved.
-
I love apple pie. That looks great, DR John G!
Criterion 50% off sale on their website through noon tomorrow.
Hmm, maybe I'm misremembering. Or maybe it wasn't Wrigley, but Trident or some other brand.
-
Good idea about the shirts DR RODZINSKI.
-
I remember Emil & The Detectives as a two part Disney tv show....there may have even been a sequel.
Roger Mobley played Emil and he was most excellent.
It’s been made a number of times.
I'm up, I'm up - a bit over eight hours of good sleep.
ChasSmith, I just sent you the music for The Man That Got Away.
Pie!
Does it taste as good as it looks? I now see you already answered my question.
-
And the pie crust tastes great. I will have to experiment with it again. It is different in that it calls for both butter and cream cheese.
That does sound good. Are those raisins in the pie?
-
I usually will pass on a regular apple pie so my interest in this one is a great compliment.
Lotta bullshit in that Playbill article on Gypsy. To begin, Josh Clayton took the idea of going back to the original scores to Andy Einhorn, who is not telling the truth when he claims he took the idea to Josh.
-
Bubble gum
Juicy fruit
Doublemint
Dentyne
Black Jack
-
Mostly I chewed a sugarless gum my mother purchased.
-
Today I no longer enjoy bubblegum or Juicy Fruit and can no longer get Dentyne.
DR Rodzinski can you sound Canadian when you speak? Did your children have a slight accent from their mother and attending a school in Canada?
-
Had a turkey sandwich and a side of kishka for food - not bad. 50% off coupon.
-
Juicyfruit was a favorite, but you know what I really liked - Chiclets.
I'll be leaving in two hours.
I forgot about Chiclets! I did enjoy Chiclets now and then when I was going into Mexico a few times in the late 70s, early 80s. Little kids selling them to tourists everywhere was a THING then. No idea if that's still the case.
-
Shaved. Next will be shower. Have to stop at the ATM on the way.
I don't remember seeing that when we were there. Because it was Dead of the Dead children dresses for the occasion would lie on the ground pretending to be dead and wanting money for their performances. It was cute the first couple of times we saw this but not after ;D
No small slices on a deep dish pie. There are nine cups of apples in that pie, plus a cup of nuts and a cup of cranberries.
Cranberries!
Chicle is Spanish for gum. I saw the kids selling them the last time I was in Mexico, which is pre-covid. Too long.
They sell packets of chicles at the checkout counters of many Mexican restaurants here.
