Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of opening night, and now it is time for you to post until the opening night cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: UPBEAT!

Topic of the Day: I recently received the 2-CD original German cast recording (in German!) to Pippin (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Pippin-2024-Original-German-Cast/50647).
-
Here's the cover:
-
I've been listening to it on my car and it sounds like it's the whole show! There's dialogue, but, of course, I can't understand German. ::) It's fun listening to it, though.
-
Here's the track list:
-
Good morning, all!
-
I went to bed around 8:45 last night. An hour later, I was sick and did not get back to bed until 10:30; there, I lay awake until 12:30, when I took a tizanidine and dozed and played with Thatch until 4:45. At 5:00 I decided to get out of bed.
-
I loaded the teacart with everything going to the kitchen and/or my recyclables bag: brokem down Amazon carton, packing material, and two cans of cat food. As soon as the cart was unloaded, one of the damned wheels fell off again. Is this the fourth time? I appreciate Ann and Jen's generosity, but I've had enough of this rotten piece of crap. I no loner trust. The really rotten part? They're in Italy for another week, and I cannot do another thing about this mess until they are back.
-
This morning I have an Amazon Fresh delivery so that's one more piece of tsuris I could do without.
-
BK, I'm happy the performance went so well last night. I hope it's a huge success.
-
Great to hear the good news about the second preview for DRAT! THE CAT!
-
BK mentioned this possibility: "Sounds like a tale - The Randy Vicar and the Fruits."
This could really be a barn burner of a Randy Vicar tale.
If you can get that current Vicar I've mentioned from GRANTCHESTER, the Vicar who seems more, um, free with himself than even non-religious folks, you might get a Randy Vicar tale truly worthy of the "Masterpiece Theatre" brand.
-
BK, that's such a lovely present for Donald's boyfriend. It's sure to mean a lot to him!
-
Opening night vibes for BK and company!
That's great that tonight and Sunday are sold out.
-
I've been listening to it on my car and it sounds like it's the whole show! There's dialogue, but, of course, I can't understand German. ::) It's fun listening to it, though.
George, thanks for the alert and thanks for sharing the CD art!

Of course lots of basketball today....not that I particularly care about any of the teams that are left.

Wow - 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Yesterday I received an email from the acquaintance that I met at the FF Reading in June. She has asked for the latest copy of the script and will be forwarding it to NYC this weekend.
That is the first thing I will do when I get the other computer up and running later this morning.
-
Does that mean that she hadn't forwarded it to NYC previously?
-
Well - better late than never.
-
Or, for the punctilious: Better never than late.
-
It's Friday, folks.
-
Full of promise and high ideals.
-
And perhaps high heels.
-
Not necessarily in that order.

Does she want a pdf or a printed copy?
P.S. Not sure this is the (or even a) relevant point, but star vehicles for limited runs are somehow a big trend right now, on Broadway AND commercial off-Broadway: Even major off-Broadway shows have screen-star vehicle hits like the ones at the Lortel Theatre in the Village, of the current Andrew Scott in VANYA, and Aubrey Plaza in DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA or Adam Driver in HOLD ON TO ME DARLING.
-
Does that mean that she hadn't forwarded it to NYC previously?
Fingers (and toes) crossed that she forwarded it before, and now those NYC people have read it before and want to have the latest version.
-
Happy 340th Birthday, JS Bach!
-
Good morning, all.

Happy birthday, Bach.

Travel vibes for the Rodz clan.
-
I’m only now stirring.

Plenty to do today.

Plenty o’ nuthin’.

Amazon Fresh crashed and burned at the door to my apartment. The bags containing the canned items were overpacked so they were heavy to lug and easily torn open; items were missing: dealing with three cats and paper bags makes it even worse. Of a 6-pack of Seagrams ginger ale, only on bottle turned up, inside a bag of canned goods. It was a real mess, and I'm pretty sure more canned soups were missing than I asked for credit. Of two packs of frozen chicken breasts, only one arrived. I'm not happy about this. I'm sure five bottles of ginger ale, one Cjhobani yogurt, one can of tomato paste, and three Cadbury fruit & nut bars are sitting inside an Amazon Fresh delivery truck.
-
All the emptied bags - except for the one Annabelle has claimed as her summer home - are ready to be recycled. I will take all the crap down to the basement around 1:30.
-
I need to email Ann and tell her I am looking for a new cart. I like this one a lot, but I wish its width was 2-4 inches less.
-
No not yet DR singdaw.
DR FREDDIE she seems pleased with a file.....she lives in Indy now and that is the easiest way to send it to her NYC producer friend. His late father was also a producer and has won more Tony Awards than ANYONE ELSE - EVER.
Thanks for the info....this is definitely a "star" vehicle - if the right star can be found.
-
AND I am out of IMAC HELL and back to WINDOWS HEAVEN.
Thank you, FLUX. Who also got rid of 5 gb of cookies and installed an ad blocker for me.
-

The labels on all the paper bags should be numbered, 1 of 5, 2 of 5, etc. If one (or more) of the bags is missing, that should make it easy to identify which bag when informing Amazon.

To quote a favorite line by a producer character from a musical I worked on:
Any star is right for any part in any show. :)

Meaning box office draws, of course. :)
-
LOL that seems to be the case.

DR ELMORE I hope your day gets better.

And that gets us to page 4 - and before 1 pm (Eastern)

It is true DR FREDDIE.
AND I just received an email telling me that the file had been downloaded.

Speaking of shitty Amazon service, yesterday I received a mass market paperback of The Cat, the Quilt, and the Corpse, the first mystery in the "Cats in Trouble" series. I give these series the first two books to see if I like them. Well, if the copy I received yesterday - broken spine, water-damaged pages - were on a book store shelf, I wouldn't purchase it, and yet some moron at Amazon had the gall to put this mess into stock and actually send it to a customer. I called Customer Service, and I was told they would send me a replacement if I returned this damaged mess. I explained I was a cripple on a walker, hardly left the apartment, and that the book should just be pitched, Nope: no return, no replacement.

The Apartment is different every time I watch it. Today, it was an ugly drama with laughs caught in the throat. Horrible people on every level trying to justify their selfishness. And it’s no less effective seen that way. I have seen it another time and laughed all the way through. It really is Wilder’s masterpiece because it works no matter your frame of mind.

During the pandemic, one of my pet projects was to see stage productions of all of Shakespeare's plays. One of the best was a production of The Two Noble Kinsmen at the Globe Theatre.
The library now has a whole series of Shakespeare plays at the Globe in front of live audiences. I'm now watching All's Well That Ends Well. I had seen this ages ago when I was a teenager. I did watch the only production I could find online, but it was pretty bad. So this is a real treat
-
Reading Ina’s memoir reminded me that Nora Efron was married to Nick Pillegi, making them a real-life Nick and Nora.
;D
-
The end of the first act reminds me of why this isn’t the best of Shakespeare’s play. The leading lady is a marvel, wise, funny and a miracle worker. The man she loves is unworthy of her and we the audience don’t want them to end up together. She deserves better.
