Spellcheck, or autocorrect, seemed to want to change the word "congrats" into "cineast."

TOD: Favorite cakes

I really like a nice crumb cake, where the crumb part is as prominent as the cake, especially with coffee.

I slept well until the middle of the night, when all hell, the mother of leg pains, broke loose, and I was in agony for some time before things relaxed and I could get back to sleep.
-
:)
ROTFLMAO!
Probably describes those days in human lives, too, where we thought we were going to accomplish some goals but thanks to sleep, the day just didn't start off right for that. :)

DR MichaelG, the Encores! productions rehearse at City Center. The large studio is on the same floor as Joshie's music office.
-
DR MichaelG, there have been bootleg recordings of two Love Life productions - University of Michigan, 1987, and Opera North, 1996 - floating around for years. There was a 1990 production in Philadelphia and a 1991 Lost Musicals in London, but I've never heard of any bootlegs for those two.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What a great op’nin’ weekend BK & Co. had with that darn Cat!
(See what I did there??)
-
While I’m working my way out of this darn cold.
-
Back to another show and rehearsal tomorrow. Glad it isn’t today.
-
Hope you feel better soon, DR ChasSmith.
-
I kept putting off this final decision, but I’m sorry to say it won’t be possible for me to get to Love Life this week. I had hoped I might be able to get there on Sunday, but I think I’m going to be too wiped out by then. Above all, I will greatly miss seeing and hearing it conducted by Rob Berman.
-
Thank you, DR singdaw.

TOD:
I don’t remember not having cake. An early favorite was German chocolate with its eggy frosting laden with coconut and pecans. I asked for that to be my birthday cake several years running.
I also loved Mom’s version of a Black Forest torte. It’s the only version I know of made with a white cake. She would make three layers, cut them in half and then alternate between each layer with brandy-soaked bing cherries or a whipped cream frosting. The whole cake is covered in the frosting and topped with more cherries. Chocolate shavings are spread around the sides of the cake. I made one a couple of times, but it was too hot in Florida and here for it to hold up for very long.
-
From Mom’s cookbook, I love her pound cakes, especially the cream cheese pound cake, which is really moist, dense and delicious.
-
I won a couple of ribbons at the state fair as a kid for my cakes. I took a third for a butter pecan cake and a second for a Lady Baltimore cake.
-
Another controversial yet interestingly expressed online posting about LOVE LIFE, this one from a "JereNYC" on ATC:
JereNYC
"My reaction to this interview is that if Victoria Clark doesn't like this material, think it works well enough for a limited remount, or doesn't think the rehearsal time allotted for it is enough to do the material, why is she directing it?
As part of choosing this title (and the interview says that she is the one who chose it), did she talk to the powers that be at Encores! about this one song that will require more rehearsal time and see what can be worked out about that? Maybe the singers doing it could be brought it a week early? Maybe they could hire a separate madrigal group to do this one number and allow them to devote their entire rehearsal time over the two weeks (or whatever) to this one number. I don't know what the answer is, but I question why the answer seems to automatically have been to cut it."

I'm up, I'm up - four hours of sleep. Just can't get good sleep before these sorts of appointments.
-
Congrats to Freedie on the achievement.
-
Weird dreams.
-
Maybe I'll go to Du-Par's after the appointment - I have to go that direction anyway.
-
Or maybe I won't.

Congrats to Freedie on the achievement.
Thank you so much, BK!

This morning I had two emails from what claims to be Social Security, claiming I have not responded to their inquiries on my current status. Does anyone know if this is real or a fraudulent phishing scam?
-
I didn't get anything from SS.
If you have an online SS account you might go there and ask.
My guess is that it is a scam DR ELMORE.
-
Contact the SSA Directly: If you're unsure about an email, contact the Social Security Administration directly at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or visit your local Social Security office to verify the information.
-
Maybe there will be somebody left there who can answer the phone.

Thanks! I Googled Social Security and the emails are not the one SS gives online.

TOD: My Mom was born in a chocolate store, so chocolate cake, definitely - both first and favorite.

After watching many seasons of GBBO and seeing how lemon drizzle cake was so many of their first bakes, I decided to bake it. It was so good, my first time ever baking a cake from scratch. I've made it several times since with lemons from our tree. Now I should branch out into baking other cakes.

Monday morning greetings. The slight improvement in my mood took a dive last week as we waited out the aftermath of a friend’s March 14 car accident. She died early yesterday morning. This one is hitting my girlfriend community very hard.

:) There's a strict rule for answering the HHW TOD questions.
I think it's "Does it help fill up HHW pages? If so, go ahead and post it."

I shall be on my way to the eye doctor in about forty-five minutes.
Hope it goes well! I am now done with my appointment with my new doctor. This was just a getting-to-know-you office visit. :) My next appointment will be in June.
-
Their computers were down, so he couldn't order labs for me to have them done right then, so I'll have to go back at some point soon. He expected that their computers would come back by the end of the day, so I should be good to go back any time after today.

As was posted by DR GEORGE I also liked a German Chocolate cake. My mother made a good frosting.....it was golden with coconut and walnuts.
It has been many years since I have thought of it.
Probably a pound cake was the first cake I ever had....yellow with no frosting, but very good.
I sometimes buy a Walmart cake for a special occasion - and wedding cakes are usually good - but we haven't had a wedding in these parts for awhile.
-
Sheet cakes are easy to cut and serve.....but I don't particularly like them. I'd rather my cake not be served as lasagna is.
-
Very sorry to hear that, DR Ginny.
-
TOD: My Mom was born in a chocolate store, so chocolate cake, definitely - both first and favorite.
Wow. How did that happen?
I'm with you about a good chocolate cake.
All right, technically, above the family store where they lived. And it wasn’t just chocolate, but more of a general store. But I like the way my Mom told it!
-
So sorry to hear this, DR Ginny. May her memory be a blessing.

Thank you, DRs ChasSmith and MichaelG.

I doubt it. Especially since we now know they've cut a number and the Magician at the opening is now gone. The director, Ms Clark, is clearly incapable of staging something she doesn't understand. a membner of the "I must break it to fix it" school of direction.

DR MichaelG, if you'd like the two bootlegs, both in very good sound - I suspect the Opera North was a BBC Radio broadcast - send me your email.

No more 9:45 appointments. I left an hour and fifteen minutes before the appointment - at eight-thirty. Laurel Canyon was a joke and not a funny joke. First, backed up two blocks at Ventura Blvd. Then approaching Mulholland backed up at least a mile if not more. Took twenty minutes to get past Mulholland.

Tomorrow I will have my drain rootered from the house to the street. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

My cousin, the daughter of my late aunt who passed away last month, calls me daily....and it is most irritating.
HOWEVER she did bring me a suitcase and a plastic bin of photographs her mother had. My sister scanning them and I will post them to the family Facebook page.....some are interesting but many of them are.....less.....so.....

It is a very breezy day.
-
The waste of time youth theatre workshop that had been canceled for this season is back on - taking stage rehearsal time from my July show.....hopefully I will not have to deal with it again.
I shall probably after 46 years say goodbye to my participation in this particular theeder enterprise.

Greetings from the France part of Europe.
-
Where it is but an hour from your tomorrow.
-
Today was lovely and sunny. We went on a little pastry tour of a neighborhood that had some interesting hidden passageways.
Things we ate:
-
Croissant. Large and good. You start with a large croissant and you do wonder how much else you will have room for…
-
Lemon madeleine. Big and dee-lish. These first two were items brought by the tour guide, an American girl.
-
Flavored cream puffs, called “chous,” I believe. I had a caramel cream one and finished my kids’ vanilla ones. Good stuff!
-
Next we stopped at a patisserie older than the USA. Had macarons there. Confirmed that I do not like macarons. Bleh.
-
Then we had a patented brioche called a praluline, which was quite a unique delight, with a hint of rose flavor. Not really my bag, but glad I tried.
-
Finished at a small chocolate factory.
-
Tour over, we wandered around, found a carousel. Came home, then had dinner out.
-
I am sorry, DR Ginny, to hear about your friend. Very saddening. Wishing you the warmth of memories.
-

We had Costco macarons for dessert. Maybe Costco's macarons are better than an old patisserie?

Thanks for sharing your Pastry Tour, Rodzinski! Sounds like it was mostly quite good.

I discovered madeleines on our first trip to Paris and sampled them everywhere until I found my favorite place. I prefer the plain ones.
-
Next we stopped at a patisserie older than the USA. Had macarons there. Confirmed that I do not like macarons. Bleh.
LOL, I am with you on macarons. I love a good almond macaroon but I doubt you will find those in France :)
-
And congratulations DR Freddie on your massive millstone!
-
Finished at a small chocolate factory.
Yum.
-
Tour over, we wandered around, found a carousel. Came home, then had dinner out.
FUN!
-
I'm waiting to read why Bruce's appointment today was interesting. No quotes around interesting so I hope it is in a good way.
That's how I read his post, too.
:)

Good to share DR RODZINSKI's epicurean tour of Frah....nce.

Thank you so much, Rodzinski!

Sad to hear you may walk away from your theatre, but peace of mind is no small consideration.
-
Sept! As the French say.
-
Indeed DR RODZINSKI.
-
I am sorry, DR Ginny, to hear about your friend. Very saddening. Wishing you the warmth of memories.
Thank you, DR Rodzinski - or I should say Mercí.

I shall be on my way to the eye doctor in about forty-five minutes.
Hope it goes well! I am now done with my appointment with my new doctor. This was just a getting-to-know-you office visit. :) My next appointment will be in June.
I hope you liked your new doctor.
I did. He's young, and hopefully he'll stick around.

FIVE!

Their computers were down, so he couldn't order labs for me to have them done right then, so I'll have to go back at some point soon. He expected that their computers would come back by the end of the day, so I should be good to go back any time after today.
What a world we live in that the doctor couldn't have just written out the lab order for you to take with you.
I know. But ALL the computers were down, so even the labs place might not have been able to do their work. It's fine. It won't be any trouble going back.

We had Costco macarons for dessert. Maybe Costco's macarons are better than an old patisserie?
I really like the Costco macarons, too!
-
Thanks for sharing your Pastry Tour, Rodzinski! Sounds like it was mostly quite good.
Agreed!

We play the first two weekends of April, then I go right into rehearsals for Evergreen Playhouse's production of Into the Woods. :D

I'm guessing they are coconut vs almond.

Thank you so much, Kevin!

So very sorry about your news, DR Ginny.

{{{HUGS}}}
-
I will be interviewing 20 people over the next 3 days for work.
-
I am very happy to be on the asking questions side of the screen, rather than the other way round.
-
We play the first two weekends of April, then I go right into rehearsals for Evergreen Playhouse's production of Into the Woods. :D
Exciting to go from project to project!
-
Last night I was at a friend's house for dinner. Pot roast with roasted vegetables was the entree, and a homemade lemon sour cream pie was the dessert.
-
LUCKY #210!!
-
AND PAGE EIGHT!
-
OR SHOULD I SAY... ATE?
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
So very sorry about your news, DR Ginny.
Thank you, DR Singdaw.

They have (at times, not always) a multi-flavor pack that all are really good...in my humble opinion (IMHO, in Internet lingo).

It is...and coinkydinkly, both at "Playhouses."

Macarons, not macaroons

Starting the latest season of All Creatures Great and Small.
-
Got through one awful movie - barely. Mostly I just dozed.
-
I'll try another now.
-
Why not?
-
Who's gonna stop me.
-
Why I oughta...
-
Well, why dontcha?
-
But let’s flee the confines of this page.
-
In just a few posts.
-
It’ll all be fine
-
Because you see, it’s …
-
A case of me not counting
-
I’m a bit daft tonight.
-
Okay, not just tonight.
-
I’m a bit daft.
-
Been listening to the new bio of Candy Darling.
-
It’s way too long for my tastes.
-
Justin Vivian Bond is a perfect narrator. They are divine.
-
I got way too many items from the library.
-
More movies than I can watch in three weeks.
-
And get something written.
-
Nine!
-
Now we’re cooking with gas.
-
Loving this season of All Creatures.
-
Ginny, sending you hugs and prayers for comfort on the loss of your friend
-
Congratulations to Freddie on his new millstone
-
Congratulations to BK and Co on a successful opening
-
I have been regretting not getting a ticket to see Love Lives but after today’s discussion I feel less bad about that.
-
Sorry to have been E&T it was a whirlwind weekend
-
Hi, Vixmom!
-
Good night, all.
-
Guess I should write some notes.
-
Perhaps I had a few too many onions in the tuna on top of the onion bagels.
-
New notes are written.
-
I think I'll take an allergy pill - I feel an attack coming on.
-
Tummy feels weird - too many onions.
-
Too Many Onions - isn't that from Follies?
Too many onions
And now I am having some heartburn now
Too many onions
Making me feel weird.
-
Can we make it to ten?
-
Could be.
-
Who knows.
-
It's only just out of reach.
-
Down the block, on a beach, under a tree.
-
It's a long way to ten.
-
A long, long way.
-
Really long.
-
As we inch ever onward.
-
Maybe we can do it.
-
If we believe.
-
We MUST believe.
-
Closer than ever.
-
I do have a feeling that page ten is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Enter page ten!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
