Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of being back to the show, and now it is time for you to post until the back to the cows cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MOMENTUM!

Welcome, 455 GUESTS.

Love the flyer, BK!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Off for the hill country soon despite the rain.
-
DR John G. is heading for the hills.
-
As should we all.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Just say no.
-
Or, if you are performing 70, Girls, 70, just say yes.
-
:)
-
I pulled a muscle digging for gold.
-
It was just a miner injury.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I forgot to set the alarm last night, and I slept very poorly, to boot. I awoke at 6:30 this morning to 105 emails, mainly political requests for money to fight the Trump Reign of Terror. I think I deleted all biut 15-20.
-
I muist take a trip to the basement with the recyclables, and then I want to do a bit of composition.
-
DR singdaw, I love that cat lamp. Where did you find the photo?
-
Just scrolling Facebook, I think.
-
The new cast album of Once Upon a Mattress is out digitally today.
-
I must take a trip to the basement with the recyclables
Just did that myself last night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Still crazier than hell here. Just a quick check-in this morning.
-
Man, the wonderful reviews just keep pouring in for that Cat!
Congrats all around!!
-
They're getting the F out of there.
-
Good morning.
-
I'm really tired after reading about DR VIXMOM's activity.
-
Another great review. Second week vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Page Two Observation.
-
It was must be very sad for the actress who was in the auto accident to think what might have been.
It must be most irritating for actress who quit the show because she just didn't have time to do it after being cast.....
-
Good morning!

Wordle: 3/6
-
Wise words, DR Jrand74.
Sometimes you just gotta wonder about those things.
-
It seems the Washington National Opera will be mounting a production of Robert Ward's THE CRUCIBLE next season at the Kennedy Center.
-
I'm really tired after reading about DR VIXMOM's activity.
Ditto!
-
DR Rodzinski, your whirlwind tour of gai Paris sounds wonderful. I copuldn't take the Eiffel tower steps either. When I began working for the Miami University library in Sept. 1965, the old King Library's floors in the stacks were either very heavy translucent panels of glass or plexiglass. It took me a year to get over my fear of crashing through one to the floor below, and I worked there from Sept. 1965-August 1970.
-
They're getting the F out of there.
LOL!
-
Terrific DRAT! THE CAT! new review and flyer in the Notes!
-
Thankfully, a voice lesson I was to accompany today is going to be next week instead, so a little bit of sanity just got restored to today. Just a little. But I'll take it.
-

YES! SAME! Good Lord, how does she do it??

I meant to respond to this, too!
Yes, thank you, DR Rodzinski, for the amazing tour. I'd be happy to hear even more about it when the dust settles. It sounded wonderful. Okay, except for the translucent steps or panels. I'm with the rest of you on that. Do you know about the clear platform they built over one spot in the Grand Canyon? NO WAY, MAN.
As for steps themselves, I still manage to like them (knocking wood here) and rather enjoy the interesting ups and downs in a lot of places. But for the actual crazy heights themselves, I love dramatic views but I absolutely avail myself of handrails everywhere. Looking down while not holding on to something solid are two things that don't go together in my book.
-
And DR MichaelG is having a wonderful time in the Big Apple. I still wish I could have gotten down there this week, but there was no way. Keep those reports coming!
-
BK -- This is such an important revival. (Well, obviously. DUH.) I hope you'll be able to document it in every way possible.
At least get it video-recorded privately once or twice for posterity? Even if you can't share it to the outside world? Though I'd certainly hope there would be a way to do that eventually.
-
Jrand - fingers crossed, hoping one day to be making parody fun of the Frances play raking in big bucks!

-
DR Vixmom I agree with DR Freddie regarding your energy.
-
It sounded like a fun filled time with your friends.
-
I'm impressed you made to work on time ;)
-
DR MichaelG, I also enjoyed reading about your fun evening.
-
DR Singdaw the cat lamp is very pretty.
-
Thanks George.
-
From George:
Cute! I wonder if that's an actual piece music on the piano.
That is an interesting thought. Now I want to know ;D
-
I hope Lil Rodzette was not disappointed with the Mona Lisa.
-
SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES FOR THE RODZINSKI FAMILY!

So am I ;D

I feel bad for the actress in the accident but not for the one who should be upset with herself.

The hard part of packing is completed.

Everything is organized.

Now all I have to do it actually pack.

I decided I need something to eat.

I'm having a pear and cashews.

My break is over. If I sit any longer I won't be able to get moving again.

Boots by the door, or boots on the floor?
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep and got up around 1:30ish.
-
Catching up since then.
-
According to Doug we're light for tonight and tomorrow night but sold out for Sunday. I could do something about tonight, but the gal in the box-office told me I could not book half-price tickets on the day of the show. Seems rather silly to me but that's just me.

I'll have to shave and shower shortly.

Thank you. We don't leave until Sunday, however, tomorrow is cleaning day.

Since we are on page four I should mention that Keith got Wordle in four.

-
Tonight we are going to watch the last two episodes of The Residence.
-
This week's new THE PITT was particularly bloody and tense and even unsettling, which is the effect I assume the people behind the show basically wanted in this episode.
Moral: Try not to need an emergency room at the same time the ER is dealing with a nearby mass shooting.
-
Congratulations to BK on the continued great reviews
-
Love Life was wonderful! I wasn't so sure after the first act, but the second act pulled it together and delivered the emotional goods.
-
So glad you enjoyed it, DR MichaelG!
-
Looking forward to the recording.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
I've heard "This Is the Life" and "Mr. Right" on recordings before. But in the context of the show they are so much more effective. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Kate Baldwin sang and acted the heck out of their parts.
-
John Edwards was a name new to me and did a great job in his solos, probably the next most prominent cast member.
-
The cast was uniformly excellent, the orchestra playing was great, and it was delightful to see Rob Berman conduct in person after hearing him on recordings.
-
There's a ton of dance in this show. I know way less about dance than I do about music or acting, but I thought JoAnn M. Hunter's choreography worked great.
-
I also loved the costumes by Tracy Christensen, especially for the ensemble vaudeville numbers.
-
So much of the ensemble music hasn't been recorded, or only done in cut down arrangements for solo or duo instead of quartet or octet. It was exciting to be introduced to it live like this.
-
There is an album on which Kaye Ballard and Alan Jay Lerner sing a bunch of songs from Love Life. Beautiful.
-
I'm trying to think of how many Weill shows I've seen. Let's see:
- Der Protaganist
- Mahagonny-Songspiel
- Der Zar lässt sich photographieren
- The Threepenny Opera (plus once in the pit)
- Happy End
- Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (never seen, but sung it twice)
- The Seven Deadly Sins
- Street Scene
- Love Life
- Lost in the Stars
So maybe 40% through or a bit more?
-
There is an album on which Kaye Ballard and Alan Jay Lerner sing a bunch of songs from Love Life. Beautiful.
Thanks, DR John G, I didn't know about that one. I've just ordered it.
-
I just read through most of the reviews, where the consensus is this is the perfect show for Encores. I agree, I think you have to have pretty specialized interests (like most folks here) to enjoy it as much as I did. And again, I wasn't really taken with the first act.
-
Pretty funny though to read reddit comments from folks who clearly have never have seen Company.
-
They've just published a piano/vocal score, so I've ordered that too.
-
Good night all. Back home tomorrow.
-
Also, Ben Bagley recorded most of the score spread out over his Alan Jay Lerner Revisited and two volumes of Kurt Weill Revisited.
-
Greetings from tomorrow. Still dark at 5:30 am, as we prepare to leave for Charles DeGaulle.
-
BK has issued all of the Revisited CDs on Kritzerland.
-
Five!
-
Hi, Rodzinski.
-
I ushered tonight for the stupidest show I can remember.
-
It was the Sturniola Triplets.
-
Three guys sitting on sofas and talking about nothing.
-
The girls in the audience thought it was the second coming of the Beatles or a young Frank Sinatra. They screamed so loudly that my ears hurt. Then they screamed even louder.
-
I don't really know what the show was about.
-
It wasn't funny. It wasn't dramatic. It was pretty much about nothing.
-
It lasted only about 65-70 minutes.
-
And yet the VIP tickets sold for $400 apiece.
-
About 400 bought those. It included early access to the merch table plus the chance to sit in on a sound check.
-
That was the diamond level. Another 150 or so bought gold level tickets.
-
I don't know what that included, but the 150 or so who bought silver level tickets only got early access to the merch table.
-
The house was sold out.
-
I'm not a 12-year-old girl, so I just didn't get it.
-
The producers rented the hall and were truly disorganized.
-
Our managers were stressed out, because the producers kept making changes.
-
It was the first stop on the tour.
-
We ushers were friendly, calm and collected. Things went well.
-
I got home by 10:30.
-
It left me with enough time to roll out a pie crust and get all the ingredients together
.
-
So tomorrow morning I can make a blueberry buttermilk pie
-
It should come together easily.
-
If only I can wake up in time.
-
I have to make it early so I can get to Fredericksburg.
-
More wineries in my future.
-
I'm traveling several with friends visiting from Albany, N.Y.
-
Hopefully it'll be a nice day.
-
The rain has stopped.
-
Onward!
-
Six!
-
I've run out of blather.
-
Good night, all.

Hi, Rodzinski.
Hello! Have a nice sleep!
-
At l’aéroport.
-
Couple hours early. The way I like it.
-
The kids loved the Louvre. Seeing the three superstars of the museum, Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and the winged victory of Samothrace.
-
Plus a few other baubles and trinkets.
-
Had another nice tour guide, Beatrice. Much better than trying to wander around on our own.
-
We received on our tours many compliments about our kids’ behavior which is a great thing to hear but probably more of a reflection of the behavior they are used to seeing from kids.
-

So, on April 09, 2020, at 10:13:22 AM (http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?topic=6098.msg1303873#msg1303873) (almost exactly five years ago), John wrote:
With a bootleg of Love Life, I come to the end of my Kurt Weill odyssey. It’s been about 38 hours of listening. What shall I listen to next?
And I replied with:
Wow! That's a lotta Weill!
I unknowingly quoted myself! :))
-
My kids are definitely more patient than I would’ve been. The guide saved the Mona Lisa for the end, so that built up the suspense.
-

Very nice, Rodzinski!
-
We’d started our day with a hot chocolate brunch at a fancy cafe along Rue de Rivoli.
-
Hi G!
-
I just took a photo of a fashion advertisement in the terminal and a French policeman made me delete it from my phone. He was nice about it. But made sure I deleted it from my trash even. This was over by check-in, so maybe more strict there.
-
I had a croque monsieur for lunch after the Louvre, and we shared a pavlova for dessert. That was new to me. Very meringue.

Weird! :o
-
There is a lot of pixelated street art around Paris by a guy called Space Invader and his imitators. We had to show Lil Rodzette the pixel Mona Lisa.
-
Last night it rained a bit, we did our only restaurant repeat by sharing a couple pizzas at a cafe we’d been to on Monday.
-
The kids are sad to leave.
-
I am aussi.
-
I am not sad to leave that page though.

I had a croque monsieur for lunch after the Louvre, and we shared a pavlova for dessert. That was new to me. Very meringue.
I first heard of the pavlova dessert from an episode of America's Test Kitchen:
How to Make an Orange, Cranberry, and Mint Pavlova (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JDAFXVQtDGc)
I've never made it, nor have I ever actually eaten a pavlova. ::)
-
I am not sad to leave that page though.
And I'm sure that Rupert is happy that you've made his/her/its/their appearance possible! ;D
-
Finally back from the show and then a nice meal at the Coral Cafe.
-
Listening to music and just starting to write some damn notes.
-
Should be twenty minutes or so with an emphasis on the latter.
-
And now for something completely different: Here is Liza Minnelli and cast of Flora, the Red Menace on The Ed Sullivan Show:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C9vMJLL0nQg (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C9vMJLL0nQg)
:D
-
Well, it was "or so" thirty instead of twenty minutes.
-
It happens.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They were short and sweet, not necessarily in that order.
-
Too far to go for page eight.
-
Oh well.
