Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both April and Love, and now it is time for you to post until the April cows come home with loads of lovely love.
-
And the word of the day is: PROFUSELY!
-
Welcome, 443 GUESTS!
-
Wordle 1,382 5/6
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜
⬜⬜⬜🟩🟨
⬜🟨🟨🟩⬜
⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
-
Even with our time difference George still managed to do Wordle before Keith ;D
-
We had something strange happen last night.
-
Around 2:30 the tv suddenly went on with the screen saying welcome.
-
At least there wasn't any sound.
-
It was very bright and in our faces.
-
After turning the TV off Keith was lucky and we t back to sleep. I was already awake
-
After breakfast we stopped at the front desk to make sure it won't happen again.
-
It might happen again as there is some kind of glitch causing this to happen in all of the rooms.
-
Great. In the last two days I have had a total of fours hours of sleep.
-
Keith also got Wordle in five.
-
Keith and George have the same 4th line.
-
Notes splurged. Urged.
-
Unplug the TV at night like my grandparents used to do?
-
I was up late uploading the next thrilling edition of my magazine.
-
But April Love can slip right through your fingers…
-
So put on your bonnet, your cape and your glove. To make your fingers less slippery.
-
A little Pat Boone cross-pollination for ya.
-
Diana Dors is referenced in the British musical “Salad Days” which I once directed to minor acclaim.
-
Yesterday was pretty crummy for us too, so maybe let’s get that out of our system and start April with a whole new vibe.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. Thatch stayed with me most of the night. I had a strange dream that made me sit up and think WOW! and now I recall nothing about it.
-
I am now on Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. I don't know if any DRs watched it in its original run, but I loved Seasons 1 and 2, thought Season 3 had moments with a lousy conclusion, and then I thought Season 4 began poorly, but last night I watched Season 4, Episode 3, and its combination of serious grief and huge, hilarious synagogue fight during a bar mitzvah made me think the series was back on its feet. Then, in Episode 4, Tony Shalhoub, whom I find an irritating actor, made me want to throw rocks at the TV.
On the other hand, I love Jane Lynch, whose character Sophie Tennant from Queens - maybe a parody of aging Fanny Brice - is so outside the parameters of sanity that her every appearance, going further and further into more absurdity and lunacy, is worth the entire episode.
-
This morning, I need to make my trek to the basement. New regulations on garbage go into effect, so we'll see if the landlord is making new provisions for the mess.
-
Vibes that BK's two important envelopes arrive today!
-
As Bk mentioned in the notes, it's a day to be on guard for April Fool's pranks.
I was already quite confused (before 7 a.m.) by something someone posted which didn't make any logical sense, anyway - of course, when I looked at the comments under the post, that confirmed it was an April Fools joke.
-
Something I find kind of interesting: Kieran Culkin's character on SUCCESSION was Roman, his character in GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS on Broadway is Richard Roma.
Maybe not THAT interesting, but at least it's a post on the way to page 2.
-
Page Two!

Good morning, all.
-
This has already been a crazy morning, and it has nothing to do with it being April 1.
I'm avoid April 1 stuff today, too. Just don't need it this time. Let's just get through the day. :)
-
DR Elmore, I'll look at all of that later. I can't even imagine the horror and sadness, and I'm not quite ready to tackle it yet.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I have nothing new to report.
-
TOD: what I do NOT enjoy is crispy dried onions from a can. And I have extra, if anyone wants some.
-
~~~IMPORTANT ENVELOPE ARRIVAL VIBES~~~ for BK!!!
-
TOD
I love the idea of canned foods -- for storage, ease of use, definitely some easy and favorite items here and there, all the reasons. I think the one negative is how they are such sodium bombs. But so are many other types of prepared/processed foods. So I try to remain cognizant of that and consume such things in moderation. Not that MY idea of moderation is any kind of model! But I do try to think about these things.
A few favorites? I always keep a couple of cans of Hormel no-beans chili around for adding to various and sundry things. Campbell's tomato, bean, cream of chicken, cream of celery, and I love a few of their more deluxe chunky varieties. Progresso's split pea with (what is it, ham? bacon? I forget, but I think it's the most delicious canned pea soup). Black eyed peas. Collard greens. A couple of types of canned tomatoes in case I need to high-tail it out of Yonkers. Sloppy Joe mix, for when I'm too lazy to make my own. Canned peaches. Oh hell, there are probably a lot of things I'm not thinking of. Oh, how about those little cans of Underwood Deviled Ham? I loved that stuff as a kid and I indulge now and then. I could go on...
-
Send me those onions, DR singdaw.
-
~~~MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!
-
Well, back to rehearsal today...
for...
you guessed it!...
SpongeBob number two!
-
The first SpongeBob was a one-week affair with full hired pit plus their more talented kids participating...28 musicians in all. What a pleasure that was, and that quirky score shined. That was at a middle school, so, way younger kids than most of us are used to, but they were so professional and full of character our jaws were on the floor.
This one is a high school that does very good work and will have much more developed singing, but the full pit will be all students except for two keyboards and two guitars. I think they're skipping the third keyboard. So, no one-week affair there, they've been working on it for a while. I do look forward to seeing the similarities and differences between the productions.
-
Can you see the stage from your vantage point DR CHAS SMITH?
-
Vibes for everyone to have a good day.
I shall be having a ME day.
-
Better than a MEH day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Better than a MEH day.
I’ve had a few of those lately.
-
TOD:
Beans are more convenient from a can than soaking them overnight, then cooking them sometimes for hours before they’re done. I’m especially thinking of canned white beans that are sometimes needed in salads or soups.
I love canned Skyline Chili.
Canned corn makes it easy for me to have Mexican street corn.
-
I’m not big on canned cherries anymore. It’s usually more cornstarch goo than actual cherries. Same with canned gooseberries. Canned peaches are slimy. But I like what I can do with canned pineapple.
-
I always have canned milk and sweetened condensed milk on hand. I don’t use a lot of fresh milk unless I know I am making something in advance. That prevents some last-minute trips to the store.
-
You can keep your VegAll.
-
Can you see the stage from your vantage point DR CHAS SMITH?
Sadly, my back is to it in both venues. And as it turned out, I would really liked to have seen that younger production.
At this upcoming one I have the autonomy of tweaking it a bit, and will do so.
-
Unplug the TV at night like my grandparents used to do?
Great idea.
-
I forgot my favorite of all: anchovies!
-
DR John G. reminds me of Skyline chili in cans. Essential!
And when I have it around, I keep cans of "small red beans" which are perfect for that.
You know what those slimy cans of peaches are good for? When you have a bout of diverticulitis-type belly-aching going on, and that's all you want to eat. :)
-
Let’s can this page.
-
Three!
-
Excuse me, I have to visit the can.
-
Peaches come from a can
They were put there by a man
in a factory downtown.
If I had my way
I’d eat peaches every day
Sun-soaked bulges in the shade.
Millions of peaches
Peaches for me

I could google, but it takes up more posts to ask.

Yes.

Since it's Can Day and also Doris Day's birthday week, from LOVER COME BACK
Carol Templeton: Believe me, the agency that lands this account is the one that shows Mr. Miller the most attractive can.

That song was from the one-hit wonder group, The Presidents of the United States of America.
That isn’t even their biggest hit, which was the Gershwinesque “Lump.”
-
I like canned tuna. Beans. Corn.
Recently tried my first Dinty Moore Beef Stew.
I survived on cans in college. But yeah, it’s awfully salty food.
-
… it’s awfully salty food.
I’m afraid i do not understand these words. Whatever language you’re using is not Griffin speak.
-
I had two fantastic deliveries yesterday: the new vocal score for Love Life and a book I've wanted for some time. It's usually rather too expensive for me, but I lucked out several weeks ago and found a nice copy on eBay for less than $20.
-
Abigayil is the reason that tabby cats all have the M marking above their eyes.
-
Abigayil sounds fascinating.
-
As to the new Love Life vocal score, I wish that digitized music had the grace, balance, and beauty of engraved music. The score isn't as horrifying as some, but when we worked on the Babes in Toyland edition, we tried very much to make the new scores look more like the old engraved scores.
-
I have blueberries growing. I have netted the plants. I hope they keep the birds, squirrels and other hungry critters away.
-
I'm up, I'm up - rough night in Jericho - maybe five hours of sleep. Maybe.
-
Why does my darling Jane not ever mention that she read Vegas Can Be Murder? She left s brief review on Goodreads - I rarely go there anymore, but I couldn't remember if I'd put the book on there. Thankfully, I did.
-
I like that song DR FREDDIE.
-
DR RODZINSKI I received my generous payment for the magazine article! Thanks so much.
I immediately called Long's Tree Service to get an estimate to have my bush trimmed.
We shall see if I have any $$ left.
-
If you're a music notation software fan, I may have been the tipster behind today's Scoring Notes story:

TOD: In general I avoid canned food, but good canned tuna, canned San Marzano tomatoes, jarred anchovies, and jarred cannelini beans are delicious exceptions.
-
San Marzano tomatoes are excellent. And Ro-tel is always nice to have on hand.
-
We have a local band named Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes.
-
I know whereof you speak, DR Elmore. Other newer published vocal scores have that "cold" look, and it seems so unnecessary. Because they could indeed look absolutely beautiful if the know-how and effort were put into them.
-
Thank you for the link, DR MichaelG. Will check that one out later, too.
-
Here they are.

Let’s move on.

In one.

Four!

I had two fantastic deliveries yesterday: the new vocal score for Love Life and a book I've wanted for some time. It's usually rather too expensive for me, but I lucked out several weeks ago and found a nice copy on eBay for less than $20.
But congratulations for these! I'm officially jealous.
-
My blueberry bushes have tiny fruit on them. So, I netted them this morning. Here’s hoping the netting keeps the critters out.
-
Jen is going to make a bank trip for me when she walks Oscar this afternoon. I guess I had better check my account online first.
-
All is good.

I agree. I stopped making my own years ago.

I did, and I said that I liked it. Plus I made a comment in reference to the book while I was reading it.
I Hate writing reviews!
-
Bruce, if you hadn't put the book on Goodreads I would have let you know:)
-
We had a nice day today, mostly just staying walking, shopping, and enjoying all of the beautiful buildings.
-
After a brief stop in our hotel room we went back out to an area where we had seen the best options for a light dinner.
-
Keith had a strange Ceasars salad while I enjoyed my pumpkin soup.
-
For the main meal I had a carrot burger with a honey mustard dressing and Keith had the artichoke burger with a blue cheese dressing. We both thought our burger was delicious.
-
Keith had a strange Ceasars salad while I enjoyed my pumpkin soup.
Whaat was strange about the salad?
-
For us it is exciting find an unusual veggie burger on the menu. This is the first time we have found two , and the first time seeing these choices
-
Keith had a strange Ceasars salad while I enjoyed my pumpkin soup.
Whaat was strange about the salad?
I don't recall aside from the fact that it was mixed lettuce vs all romaine.
-
Greetings from Foggy Bottom.
No. That’s not right.
Greetings from Bottom Dollar?
No. Wait. I know. Greetings from Bikini Bottom! Where no one, to my knowledge, has an underwear problem. At least I hope not.
-
Not that we’re actually there yet. We’re not even close to tech week.
-
I took a little nap that turned out to be two+ hours long. I guess I am exhausted.
-
Interesting article DR MICHAELG
-
I like canned corn - although I also buy frozen....depends on where I am in the store when I remember I need some.
I also like the petite diced tomatoes with celery, green peppers, and garlic.
Last night I saw a tv ad for a Campbell's Soup I have never tried Fluffy Mac & Cheese - which I will be looking for this week. Unless I dreamed it.
-
I started listening to a book called Stone Yard Devotional. It was shortlisted for the Booker, and it’s fascinating. It’s a mix of Rumer Godden, climate change warning and Stephen King horror. It’s from Australia.

This is very interesting, DR JRand. Having spent a lot of time in the 1950s and ‘60s in Indianapolis, I probably saw FF on TV at some point. And, I attended 2 family funerals at Conkle’s in Speedway - my grandmother’s in 1987 and my mother’s cousin’s in 2001.

We are expecting at least 3 inches of snow here tomorrow. And that is NOT an April Fool's joke.

~~~MIGRAINE ABEYANCE VIBES~~~ for DR John G.
-
Not exactly a ME day - perhaps tomorrow.
-
I'm way beyond overtired.
-
I'm way beyond the valley of the dolls.
-
So far - I picked up two important envelopes, did my banking, which was very quick, although my nice gal at the bank seemed a little out of sorts - she was very nice, but not as jovial today.
-
I came home, ordered a personal pizza from a jernt called Napoli's - I'd had it in the early days of the pandemic and I gave it a great Yelp review. But it wasn't that good, really.
-
Lots of telephonic calls.
-
Even with our time difference George still managed to do Wordle before Keith ;D
I'm almost always up anyway. ::)
Merrily We Roll Along Live Stage Film Will Be Released by Sony Pictures Classics (https://playbill.com/article/merrily-we-roll-along-live-stage-film-will-be-released-by-sony-pictures-classics)
The Tony-winning revival of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical was filmed towards the end of its run in 2024 at the Hudson Theatre.
-
Thanks everyone!
DR GINNY very interesting.
-
I asked my mom if she knew Frances had been in Indiana, but she did not. So vast the chasm between The Region and the rest of Indiana.
-
Congrats and thanks to DRs Jrand74 and Rodzinski for the informative and enjoyable article!
Groceries procured at the getting place.
-
And the gas tank filled. Sorry; didn't notice the price.
The snow is starting to stick to the roads.
-
I am glad to be home.
-
And once there, I found - in the mailbox - a jury summons.
-
In the County Courthouse in downtown Saint Paul.
-
Starting Monday, May 19.
-
At least it is after our upcoming vacation to Palm Springs and after our move down the hall to our new apartment.
-
Yikes, Singdaw. Just tell ‘em they’re all guilty.
-
;D
-
Murder most foul!
-
I'm going to impress the judge with my Margaret Rutherford imitation.
Good night, friends.
Interesting DR RODZINSKI.
-
DR singdaw.....jury duty is probably going to be a thing of the past as we move ahead in this administration.....so enjoy it as you may.
-
We have severe thunderstorms/tornado warnings for Wednesday here.
-
An EMPTY fortune cookie.....I am horrified.......
-
Quiet April 1 here on HHW.
But most entertaining and informative as always.
-
I didn't watch any network television this evening.
I did watch Visconti's production of THE DAMNED OnDEMAND and found the most interesting part to be his version of the the Night of the Long Knives.....which speaks more about me than about him .
Scary. That movie was scary in its decadence
-
Saturday we will be opening the barn for auditions for A CHRISTMAS CAROL our June production......don't ask don't tell.
I said all I could say in our program committee meetings.....but this may be the straw....the absolute straw....the final straw....and weighty straw.....time will tell.....
-
I am hoping I hear about my bush tomorrow.
-
I have some banking to do tomorrow, too. I hope it goes as well as MR BK's did.
I am also hoping against hope that I receive my Social Security into my account on Thursday.
Fingers crossed.
-
Page Seven. I am disheartened by the election results tonight.
I am astounded at the ignorance of so many of my fellow citizens and I am in mourning for my country.....
Disgrace is too small a word.
-
Let's move on from Rupert.
-
I do have a set designer for The Cemetery Club.....I hope we can agree on a concept.
-
Howdy, Rupert.
-
Watching the new Criterion release of Charles Chaplin’s A Woman of Paris. It’s really good, surprisingly affecting.
-
Apparently the extras include interviews with Michael Powell and Liv Ullmann.
-
Finished with my viewing - a cheesy 80s thing with Tommy Lee Jones.
-
I might just achieve a nice new number this evening.
-
It could happen here.
-
We shall see.
-
I've been having a lot of disappointing food lately - must rectify that tomorrow.
-
Do a sure thing.
-
Good night, all.
-
These days I always have the Aldi version of Ro-Tel, and canned Aldi black beans, red beans and white beans in the house, with some ground beef I can whip up a chili pretty quickly for dinner ( Vixdad likes a bean heavy chili) although it's always nicer if i let the flavors meld in the fridge overnight
-
Also Starkist chunk light tuna packed in water was always a favorite, although BJs stopped carrying the extremely reasonably priced 10 pack and now only has Bumblebee which I find somewhat lacking .
-
Also canned sliced new potatoes are very helpful for speedy breakfast potatoes.
-
When i left work on Friday afternoon I saw what I thought was a 'drip' of water down the middle of my windscreen, but a quick flip of the wipers made it clear it was in fact a 10 inch crack right down the center of the glass
-
I have no recollection of a pepple strike or the like so I am mystified about the origin story of the crack
-
Very fortunately we have always included full glass coverage in our auto policy
-
The very nice man from Safelight arrived in my office parking lot this mid morning in his spiffy Safelight van and changed out my windscreen, then reaffixing my registration and inspection stickers, rear view mirror and remote start control thingy
-
And he vacuumed my floor to boot!
-
The emailed receipt showed that my insurance co was charged approximately $330 for services rendered
-
My only cost was the $20 tip I gave the nice man
-
It's remarkable the difference a new windshield makes, it almost seemed like there was no glass at all. It's so clear
-
Check vibes for all
-
Can we not get off this damn page.
-
I'm in the midst of writing notes.
-
Just decided to buckle down, Winsocki and get them done. Another ten minutes will do the trick.
-
Thirty posts to a new achievement.
-
Not sure if I've got thirty posts in me, but we shall see.
-
Enter page eight!
-
George is absent.
-
Not here.
-
Elsewhere.
-
Probably having a burrito.
-
I am, however, here.
-
George is cruisin' for a BKin'.
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
I've read them.
I wrote them.
A mere fifteen postings away from a new achievement.
Don't know if I'll make it this evening or tomorrow.
Perhaps I'll save the occasion for tomorrow when I arise.
