Vibes that your sleeping adjusts itself, Jane.

Good idea, so your minds can be at ease - in case the stock market keeps being a rollercoaster ride.
-
Congratulations to BK on your marvelous new millstone!
-
George, hoping rehearsals keep getting better!
-
Great photos in yesterday's posts of your day in the hills, John G!
-
Jane, you're only 13 posts to a new millstone!
Have we had an HHW millstone posted in a foreign country in a while?
-
singdaw, great going with moving things along in the posts yesterday!
After a slow start, the day almost got to page 8! Whew!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly, and I would prefer ro be still in bed. Sadly, today is finally the procrastinated laundry day.
-
Yesterday, around noon-thirty, Jen arrived with the new cart, and it is a beauty. It's maybe 2-3 inches wider than I would like, but it's quite sturdy, and it has the Annabelle seal of approval, and that's all that matters in thishousehold.
-
I ordered a book from ABE Books. The paclage arrived yesterday morning. I opened the package, and it's a copy of John Updike's novel Brazil, not the book I ordered. I checked the tracking number on the label; sure enough, it's the trackiong number ABE Books sent me with the order condirmation.
-
So, I had to contact the seller: yes, the buyer of Brazil did indeed receive my book, and the seller wants me to schlep to the post office and send my book to the actual buyer who will be sending my book to me. Only there's a Big Problem: who's taking this book to the post office for me? I will ask Jen, but I am sure that she won't be able to get to it before next week. The second problem is that, with her and Ann d for me, I hate to impose on them too often.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
Not a great night of sleep. It was too warm.
-
It’s going up to 92 today. By Sunday, however, the high will be in the low 60s.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
CONGRATULATIONS to BK on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!
-
It was too warm.
One might almost say that it was too darn hot.
-
Almost.
-
Hot potato!
-
Hot to trot.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Nice pics fom the hill country, DR John G.
-
I'm out.
-
Another rehearsal today for SpongeBob II.
-
Hot dish?
-
That's actually oneword, though, isn't it?
-
Congrats to MR BK on his lofty millstone.
-
DR ELMORE that's a pain about the books.....why should YOU and the other buyer be inconvenienced by ABE's error?
-
Thanks to all for the additional comments on the article.
-
I shall have to meditate on the TOD.
-
I am happy to report that my SS money was deposited in my account this morning.
-
Mine is supposed to get deposited second Wednesday, and they're going to take out $185 per month for Medicare. (I turn 65 May 2 and just got the notice yesterday.)
Hoping Medicare doesn't change much for the worse by the time I'm eligible next month! Who knows?
-
I actually was surprised that I got it in four guesses. There were a lot of choices with the letters and I just was able to guess correctly.
Thank you. It is just the usual.
-
Jane, you're only 13 posts to a new millstone!
Have we had an HHW millstone posted in a foreign country in a while?
:D
-
We are actually in the Mediterranean Sea.
-
Jane, you're only 13 posts to a new millstone!
I might be able to do that today. Tomorrow we will be busier.
That would be nice if we could get three HHW millstones within one 24-hour period: BK's has happened, yours is likely to be coming up soon, and Elmore's could happen today (maybe) - he's very close, too.
-
It’s going up to 92 today. By Sunday, however, the high will be in the low 60s.
Wow.
-
I am happy to report that my SS money was deposited in my account this morning.
Yay.
-
A gracious good Thursday to one and all.
Life is as usual in the CSRA.
-
I received a FB message last Friday from a "local" person who wanted to know if I was expecting a package to be delivered. She included a photo of a package with my address on it.
I overlooked my tendency to snark (i.e. if she has a package with my name and address on it, I am likely expecting it), and told her it was me (I realized she had no way of knowing if I was the same person at the address on the package).
FedEx had left it at her house. It was "Overnight priority" and labeled "Perishable". The driver left it at an address not remotely similar to the one on the package.
I told her I'd gladly come pick it up, but her husband drove it to me. Very nice guy!
I posted my thanks to them on a FB page dedicated to my local area. I learned that the previous FedEx driver who had been delivering for years had recently died and that a new, young driver was just learning the route.
I thanked the bearer of that news but wondered whether FedEx hadn't caught up with GPS to enable drivers to find places.
The package was from the VA and was medication requiring refrigeration. It was still ice cold, so all was well.
-
TV watching has been interesting.
I am caught up on all aired episodes of this season's "The White Lotus". Thus far, I am not totally sold that it will be as satisfying as the first two seasons, but I am enjoying some of the performances very much. Until this show, I had never heard of Walton Goggins. He's terrific. He reminds me of what Jack Nicholson once was. A surprise guest on the last two episodes was Sam Rockwell. His wife, Leslie Bibb, is one of the main cast.
And I have started watching "A Discovery of Witches" which I had overlooked many times over the past few years. It now holds me in its thrall!
-
Ron, so glad that the story of the FedEx delivery had such a fortunate ending, and that the medication was still cold!
-
Today is my favorite day for lunch at (Don't-Be-A-Square-Eat-at) The Triangle, less than half a mile from where I reside. The Thursday entree is cubed steak and they do it wonderfully. My fingers are crossed, however, that they do not disappoint me as they did yesterday when they did NOT have the Wednesday entree of pork chops. The Li'l Abner in me LOVES "poke chops". Instead, they had warmed over meat loaf and hamburger steak with onions. I opted for the fried chicken which is fresh ever day.
-
Ron, so glad that the story of the FedEx delivery had such a fortunate ending, and that the medication was still cold!
Thanks, Freddie! The meds were injector pens of Dupixent. My ENT and allergy doctors both wanted me on it as it helps shrink polyps. Nasal sprays help, of course, but this injection (one every two weeks) works from inside the body.
That was extensive of them and sad about the driver.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Tonight I start my film class at Stanford Continuing Studies: Hollywood's Second Golden Age: American Cinema, 1973–79.
-
It's taught by our recently retired film critic, Mick LaSalle.
-
I really enjoy his reviews and writing about film. He's been teaching the class for years, but now it's back in person and fits my schedule this quarter.
-
Thursdays are always dark at our opera company. I should only be missing one of the ten classes for a gig with my other chorus.
-
According to the tentative syllabus, tonights film should be Badlands, which I've never seen.
-
It's about 50-50 between films I have and haven't seen. For all but one of the films I've seen, I haven't watched them since they came out.
-
The exception is Three Days of the Condor which I caught up with last year.
-
The last time I took a Stanford Continuing Studies course was an introduction to acting class taught by Mr. LaSalle's wife, the playwright Amy Freed.
-
Someday I may expand to a class that's not taught by this power couple.
-
The preliminary syllabus:
- Week One: 1973: Badlands
- Week Two: 1974: Death Wish and the terror of crime
- Week Three: 1975: Tommy and 1970s excess
- Week Four: 1975: Three Days of the Condor and 1970s paranoia
- Week Five: 1976: Taxi Driver
- Week Six: 1977: Saturday Night Fever contrasted Grease (1978)
- Week Seven: 1978: Straight Time
- Week Eight: 1978: Heaven Can Wait
- Week Nine: 1979: Manhattan
- Week Ten: 1979: Kramer vs. Kramer
Have a good class.
They must be very interesting.
-
I need to get dresses for dinner. I know people love the food on ships. Dinner is not our favorite meal.
-
Congratulations, Jane, on reaching your new millstone!
-
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang may feature Val Kilmer’s greatest performance. Not in the movie, although he’s great in that, but the DVD commentary with him and Robert Downey Jr. is most hilarious.
-
Found the score! It'sa a lot of Christine Ambrose's work with additions from Weill's vocal scores.
-
Captured.
-
Elmore did you see the post yesterday where someone had mentioned you on All That Chat? I didn’t see if you replied to that.
-
Four!
-
Congratulations, Jane and BK, on your milestones
-
Walton Goggins plays sleazy very well. Justified was the first time he caught my attention. He also had a memorable, small role in Django Unchained.
-
DR ChasSmith, check your email.
-
Elmore did you see the post yesterday where someone had mentioned you on All That Chat? I didn’t see if you replied to that.
I did, and I responded since my friend, the original poster, had incorrect information.
-
Greetings from Foggy Bottom. Or whatever in the HELL this place is.
-
DR ChasSmith, check your email.
Just did. Thank you, sir! As soon as I get home!
-
Some good movies there, DR MichaelG.
Congratulations BK on your glorious new millstone
Congratulations Jane on our first seatossed millstone!
-
Good news about Elmore's new
teaccart catcart
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep - a bit more, actually.
-
We have our sub pianist. He's seeing the show tomorrow night and will work with our pianist several times before playing the show next Friday.
Great news, BK!
-
A sub has been found! Hurray!
-
Still a bit nerve wracking.
-
Good news about Elmore's new teaccart catcart
Annabelle and Thatch are in heaven. I'm not sure why Stella seems uninterested; perhaps it's because she's not a leaper - she's a heavy cat - and she knows she'll never get to the top tier.
-
We have our sub pianist. He's seeing the show tomorrow night and will work with our pianist several times before playing the show next Friday.
Well, that's a qualified relief. I hope it works out.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on your new millstone.
-
Glad you got your new cart DR ELMORE.
My SS check always comes on the third day of the month.....unless it is a Saturday or Sunday....then it is deposited on the previous Friday.
-
That sounds like a fun class DR MICHAELG.
-
Yes DR RODZINSKI the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang commentary is most amusing.
-
Bruce, vibes all goes well with the sub pianist.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on your new millstone.
Thank you.
-
Congrats Bruce on your new number achievement.
-
DR ELMORE I think he was chosen to serve the last two years of Mike Braun's first senate term when Braun came back to become the Trump Governor of Indiana.
-
Great lineup. I’ve seen all but Straight Time, which has always intrigued me but I somehow missed it.
I haven’t seen that either. Alas that one is the conflict with my chorus gig.
-
My first bit of good news for the day: Doug and Phil will make a presentation to Ballet West in Salt Lake City about staging Star on the Rise.
-
My first bit of good news for the day: Doug and Phil will make a presentation to Ballet West in Salt Lake City about staging Star on the Rise.
Yay. All the best.
-
I have started Babygirl. I really don’t like it. And when Antonio Banderas started talking about Hedda Gabbler, I thought, ugh, double ugh. I may take BK’s advice and skip it.
-
I skipped an hour or more.
-
Good afternoon.
-
I feel bitchy and twitchy and manic.
-
Good news DR ELMORE!
-
My first bit of good news for the day: Doug and Phil will make a presentation to Ballet West in Salt Lake City about staging Star on the Rise.
Great news!
-
I feel bitchy and twitchy and manic.
Good for you, Margo.
-
Have no idea about the sub pianist - we can only hope. Our pianist will let me know how it's going.
-
Got a 20% off coupon for Grubhub so ordered penne with sausage in pink sauce - very good it was, too.
-
Then it was obvious that the computer was about to do its ubiquitous freeze, so I shut it down and everything is back up and running.
-
Have no idea about the sub pianist - we can only hope. Our pianist will let me know how it's going.
Here's to success!
Working with the regular guy more than once is the only way. Even when I've just subbed on a keyboard book in a pit, I've sat with the regular player at the show - twice in a few cases - and followed everything while recording it. Having the ability to study that recording - and make one's own very clear notes - is priceless. This has resulted in success each time thus far.
BK mentioned the scribblings. My first time doing this, the keyboardist gave me the worst imaginable book ever. His marks and scribblings were USELESS. I used that pit recording to re-notate my own copy of the entire book, even removing pages that were cut (unbelievable), and when I finally played, it was smooth sailing. I am not bragging. This takes work, and I am so grateful I know a few people, one excellent keyboardist in particular, who have taught me these invaluable lessons.
-
DR Elmore,
Thank you thank you THANK YOU.
-
My first bit of good news for the day: Doug and Phil will make a presentation to Ballet West in Salt Lake City about staging Star on the Rise.
And THAT is great news indeed. May it result in a very good thing. And eventually even more, I hope. That ballet is incredible, and needs to get around.
-
Is a subpianist like a submarine?
-
They both move in deep, dark places, DR Jrand74.
-
LOL DR CHAS SMITH
-
I am watching the Minnesota Timberwolves play the Brooklyn Nets in an NBA game.
Luka Garza is sitting on the bench but he is wearing his uniform.
Did DR singdaw say that he was moving to a new apartment? Maybe Luka is going to be his neighbor.
-
Still raining here.
-
Page Six.
-
I watched Gold Diggers of 1937....and I wondered who the tap dancing dynamo guy was.
It was Lee Dixon who six years later originated the role of Will Parker in R/H OKLAHOMA!
I bet he was great. I may have to get out my OBC CD and give him a listen. He certainly was a terrific dancer.....although he did look down at his feet a lot - but not as much as Donald O'Conner.
-
I think I mentioned when I got the check from DR RODZINKI's establishment, I called the Tree Man to come out do something about my unruly Mulberry bush.
He came today and the quote he gave me was exactly the amount of the check!
Synchronicity.
-
Interesting about the score, DR elmore3003.
-
Your class looks like loads of fun, DR MichaelG!
-
CONGRATULATIONS to DR Jane on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!
Good news about Elmore's new teaccart catcart
Huzzah!
I feel bitchy and twitchy and manic.
;D
But ALIVE!
-
Did DR singdaw say that he was moving to a new apartment? Maybe Luka is going to be his neighbor.
I don't think we're in the same income bracket.
-
Synchronicity.
And serendipity.
Congratulations.
-
Lots of good things happening for DRs.
-
I like that.
-
Hainsies and Kimlets deserve good things.
-
Luka got to play for the last 1:18 seconds of the game
He made two free throws and two rebounds.
Watching an odd Greta Garbo movie called Romance. It’s odd notion of romantic background music is A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.
She she vant to be alone?
