Good morning, all!
-
I slept so much better last night. My left hand tingled much of the night, but the terrifying numbness never occurred.
-
This morning I must head to the basement woith a full cart of garbage. Once the bed is made, I'll make another pass through the "Roses of Picardy" score before my first session with my student at 2:00.

Notes whisked. Absconded.

It's a terrifying journey!

Today I must take Mrs R to her colonoscopy. We’ll drop the kids at their school over the border and then I gotta drive like mad through Canada down to Bellingham, WA, collegiate home of DR George. This promises to be a bad time. I’ll wait in the parking lot, and hopefully her day gets better from there.

Here's an update on the Happy Cat Sanctary fire;158 cats perished in the fire, others survived with burns:
Adoption process and cause of fire continues at the cat sanctuary on Long Island
More updates released on the Happy Cats Sanctuary on Long Island. After investigators ruled out arson from the fire on March 31st that resulted in the death of cats and the owner, Chris Arsenault, more information was released to the public.
Before the fire, fire officials had been at the sanctuary working closely with Chris on the codes.
Brookhaven Fire Marshal Chris Mehrmann quoted,
“Cannot rule out a fire caused by propane-fed portable heaters that were in the area of fire origin.”
The investigation continues whether the fire extended due to the walls and flooring which were all custom jobs.
The cause of fire remains under investigation.
As for the surviving cats, the adoption process continues under the guidance of Chris's friend and main volunteer Lisa Jaeger who refuses to rest until all cats are in good homes. However, a new memo was released by the Happy Cats Sancturary on Lisa much to everyone's surprise.
As of now, Chris's daughter is working on her father's legacy.

Barbara Harris, Family Plot
James Stewart, Kim Novak, Vertigo

I too disliked the narration in that Hitchcock documentary. If you could watch the clips without it, it would be a fine time. Kind of like Winged Migration, a movie I loved, except for the depressing New Age score.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Playing the recital this evening, and then I'm "free" the rest of the week to ketchup and work on other things.
-
It's a simple but varied little program that will run about 45 minutes.
Par for the course for junior recitals. Senior ones get bigger and more challenging. But you know that.
-
Best of everything today for DR Rodzinski and the missus!
"Procedure" days seem so damned challenging. Plus, you've got border crossings and all. May it all turn out fine once you're there!
-
More vibes for the Mrs. Rodz.

Interesting program, ChasSmith. I love Once Upon a Time.
-
Interesting program, ChasSmith. I love Once Upon a Time.
Me too, but I wish she weren't doing it twice through. (To be fair, this version is written with a repeat over the whole song.) It was added last week because the program was a little short without it. But yes, we all like it.
-
Nice billing DR CHAS SMITH

TOD: Since it's "in the family", I'm fond of the two films my second cousin once removed co-produced with Hitchcock under the Transatlantic Pictures banner: Rope and Under Capricorn. Plus I Confess, where he dropped out of co-producing, but not before meeting my third cousins' mother.
For just movies, Rear Window and Grace Kelly may be my favorite, but there are so many other great ones.

For Katy Perry singing "What a Wonderful World" on the rocket ship in space, offering a reprise of our Feb. 2025 Trump-Musk regular-person take on the Louis Armstrong classic. :)
"What a One-Percent World!"

Coincidentally since we did this video in February, we happened to have a Jeff Bezos rocket ship cameo at 1:20 into the parody video.

Sorry I haven't written about Drat! The Cat! yet, BK. We went to dinner afterwards and then I had to get up early for my flight back yesterday.
-
I was to fly from Ontario to Phoenix to Washington National ( I still use the old name) and arrive at about 8:15 pm.
-
The flight from Ontario was delayed, first because of the earthquake in San Diego (for only about 20 minutes). After that, we were told the air conditioner on the plane had to be repaired. Finally, at about 11:30 am (the flight was supposed to leave at 10 am), the pilot announced that the flight was canceled.
-
My flight was rebooked through Dallas, leaving at 2:44 pm and arriving in DC at 1:55 am. It arrived just about on time and I got home at 2 am. I have to say the traffic was great at that hour!
-
Good afternoon.
-
Anyway, here goes: my friends and I really loved Drat! My friend Tom (not Bob!) (a reference to the show--credit to BK for that one) said it was so great to go to a small theatre where you feel you're part of the action.
-
Of course, I have the CD that BK produced and was familiar with all the songs, not just the two a certain singer recorded.
-
The cast is exceptional! The leading lady (Sydney DeMaria) was terrific. She has a flair for comedy and a beautiful voice. I told BK that she reminded me of someone. He mentioned a young Diane Keaton, and I agree.
-
The leading man, Alec Reusch, was very funny as the bumbling detective and has a nice singing voice.
-
The parents of the "Cat" were standouts too. I didn't realize, until I read the review BK posted, that the actor, Lloyd Pedersen, who played her father, also played the father of the detective! Constance Mellors was very funny as the dramatic mother.
-
I've been humming "(S)He Touched Me" off and on since the show. Of course, that song, as well as "I Like Him" are two of my favorite Streisand recordings. It's a shame that "I Like Him" was only released on a single and never on an album. Luckily, it's on YouTube.
-
There is photographic proof of my chat with BK and if I knew how to post a photo I would!
-
Congrats to JohnG on 100,000 posts. Wow!

Tonight is pizza take out. We are trying to gauge our food stores in conjunction with our departure on vacation on Monday.
-
Oops, I'm up, I'm up. Seven and a half hours of sleep, up for two hours with nausea, then back to bed and slept until one-thirty.

Went to the mail place and picked up envelopes.

Deposited two small checks.

Now I'm back and thinking about food.

I read an online story about an actor who went to audition for a musical. They auditioned with "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables." But the accompanist played it in a major key.
And I've spent the last half hour trying to sort that out in my head.

Rough colonoscopy. They gave her fentanyl rather than the drug she’d used in the past. As I sat in the car, they called me three times to say she wasn’t ready. Blood pressure low, dizzy, nausea … Finally got her or a zombified version of her. Got her home, rested. Doing better now.

Glad she's doing better, but oh, my goodness, Rodzinski! That's terrible! >:(

That’s horrible, Rodzinski. Hope she’s past all that soon.

Madama Butterfly was really enjoyable.
-
It helped have 800 students there. They’re always the most vocal, most enthusiastic audience.
-
For these final dress rehearsals, the singers rarely use full voice. In the case of the Pinkerton, it made him seem even more detestable. He got the expected boos ffrom the audience during his curtain calls, which did turn into applause.

Five!

So sorry to hear this and hope she's feeling better soon. Everybody reacts so differently to these medications. They gave me fentanyl for my last colonoscopy and for me it worked even better than the previous anesthetics, in terms of coming out of it sooner.
