When we did get them they were usually boiled or steamed in sauces.
-
Is is getting harder to do these long trips. We are trying to see the world before we can no longer do it. It will be a while before we cruise again.
-
Today is Keith's birthday. I wish he felt better, and could h st be found as good cup of coffee.

George, great childhood Easter basket story. I hope you were laughing back then.
I don't remember my reaction in the moment, but I don't think it took long to laugh at it...and I still remember it because I STILL look in any oven before I turn it on! ;D

I think so.

According to a tweet from the Vatican News:
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.

Good morning, friends.

Does WALL-E count as a robot movie?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I binged on all four episodes of The Marlow Murder Club, one of the happiest three hours I ever spent in the past couple of years. To begin, I love Samantha Bond, whom the BBC for years stuck in libidinous or what I'd call "woman of the world" roles. In Mansfield Park she played the sister wh leaves her husband to run off with the villain Henry Crawford, on Midsomer Murders she was a nasty lady colluding with her boyfriend to kill her husband, in Lark Rise to Candleford she was a romantic threat, and she's always wonderful. Now in her early 60s, she's still beautiful, still a lady with a past, but smart, sassy, energetic, and you want a heroine to be. Her two cohorts match her in every way, and the three women, along with the actress playing the investigating detective keep the plot boiling and still charming and often funny. It was grerat to see Rita Tushingham, whom I don't think I've seen since the 1960s, as a gossipy neighbor. I really enjoyed it.
-
The series ended at 9:00, and as I was about to turn off the TV, I ran across our PBS station, and Episode 4 or 5 of Wolf Hall was beginning, so I watched that, putting me an hour or more past my usual bedtime. The episode was about the marriage of Henry VIII to Anne of Cleves and the beginning of Thomas Cromwell's end. It was quite enjoyable, but I'm dragging about this morning wondering why the fat hell I didn't go to bed at 9:00.
-
I've missed DR Jeanne, and it was nice to see her back, even if only for a moment.
-
The only robot movie I can think of at the moment is Forbidden Planet.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Monday.
-
And the start of a new week of show rehearsals and concert rehearsals and a concert.
Have I ever mentioned that I occasionally have rehearsals?
-
The only AI/robot movie I’ve seen that comes to mind is Ex Machina, which I loved and should watch again to see what I think of it now. But I don’t gravitate toward AI-oriented stuff.
It’s possible there’s another one or two I’m not thinking of.
Does Blade Runner count?
-
Good morning to all
-
How about the Spielberg film AI from 2001?
-
I was sorry to hear about Pope Francis' death. I think he was the first pope I've ever cared for.
-
feeling a bit poorly today so I am going back to bed.

Terrific story in last night's posts, George, especially since you were able to find the humor in it.
-
Perhaps I'll tell the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Milk Dud.
Or The Randy Vicar and the Steaming Sauces.
-
I will add Metropolis to the list.
-
feeling a bit poorly today so I am going back to bed.
Feel-better vibes for you, too!

TOD: It's not a robot movie, and there's no AI, but my favorite robot characters are R2D2 and C3PO from the Star Wars movies.

DR JOHN G did you send me a friend request on facebook?

A person I'm following on Facebook wrote this in a post:
"DEAR FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS,
I got 500 reactions and comments on my posts last week! Thanks, everyone, for your support!"
Does anyone here know: What is this all about? Does getting a certain amount of reactions or comments get you any status on Meta or Facebook?

Been listening to a novel called Bitter Texas Honey. It’s set in Austin. It’s kinda fun. But I don’t relate to novels anymore in which many or most of the characters take drugs in excess. It’s a little too easy, too uninteresting.
-
The one place the Lassners never seen to go is LA to visit ME.
Maybe one day we will go down again for a proper visit. It is a lot of money to go to LA just to sit in traffic and rush from group to group and still never have time to see everyone we want to see. It wasn't too bad when we drove from Ashland. From here it is a long trip.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DH Keith!!!!!

Thank you. He needs them. The flight was difficult for him and his ears hurt now, plus they are very plugged. He now hears like I do.

Been listening to a novel called Bitter Texas Honey. It’s set in Austin. It’s kinda fun. But I don’t relate to novels anymore in which many or most of the characters take drugs in excess. It’s a little too easy, too uninteresting.
I prefer to skip those kind of books.
-
I read two novels on the flights out and two back. In total I read seven novels while we were traveing.
-
Watching some Charley Chase silent shorts. I’m not familiar with him.
-
The first was very funny. The second costars Eugene Pallette, who is always a hoot, in talkies or silents.
-
I read two novels on the flights out and two back. In total I read seven novels while we were traveing.
Nice. Anything good?

Safely landed. No incidents.

Great title of a Charley Chase short.

Tilt by Emma Pattee
Heartwood by Amity Gaige
I enjoyed the 20th book in the Sebastian St. Cyr series by C.S. Harris
The Maid's Secret which you read
I was extremely bored with The Paris Express by Emma Donoghue but stuck with it so I would fall asleep quickly when we were in Istanbul & Cappadocia ;D
-
I just finished doing two loads of laundry and now Keith is popping corn. With luck we will stay awake while watching Brokenwood.

Isn't there a song "My tildes, my tildes, she takes me money and run Venezuela."
-
In the current short, Charley Chase is mistaken for a jewel thief. Jean Arthur costars.
-
Starting an indy called Ex-Husbands. Griffin Dunne and Richard Benjamin star. Should be fun for the cast alone.
-

Indeed. I hadn’t seen any of her pre-Frank Capra stuff until recently.

Watching a very strange motion picture from France.
-
What, no one here has seen the following early movies with robots: Tobor the Great, The Invisible Boy, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Target Earth? Westworld, The Stepford Wives?
-
Then the later AI movies - Spielberg's A.I., S1MONE, Kimi. Many others.

I don’t know about that , I just know “ my Zelda, my Zelda, she took the money and ran with the tailor “
-
Had lox, bagels and cream cheese earlier and another bagel now for a snack.
-
Yesterday was very busy
-
Paging page six.
-
See?
-
I left the house at 645 am to head to church to set up for the 845 Easter service
-
I couldn’t do it on Saturday because the Easter vigil was held in the main Sanctuary this year instead of the outside courtyard and small chapel
-
Then I was assisting minister for the 845 Easter service
-
Then I reset for the 1045 and headed out to deliver communion
-
Then I picked up an egg sandwich for Vixdad
-
Which I delivered and then stuffed my car with my chafing trays and pans
-
Foodstuffs and spices and whatnot and headed to my Mom’s
-
Then I prepped all the dishes and put the hams ( yes 2) in the oven
-
Finished setting out the tablecloths and dishes, folding chairs etc
-
Then set up a video all between mom and the Florida vixfam
-
Menu
Ham

Sweet potatoes with brown sugar and butter

-
Told all guests we were all set for food and dessert “only bring what you want to drink”
-
All guests arrived, none with drinks, but dessert menu was amended to include baklava, a chocolate cream pie, macarons and a blueberry pie
-
I cooked, I served, I cleaned, I served dessert, I cleaned again , I put away the folding chairs and tablecloths and dishes
-
I made take home trays for everyone
-
I packed the van
-
Then I took WFO home ( his aide dropped him off before leaving for Easter dinner with his wife and kids)
-
Got him organized for the night and drive on home
-
Where I unpacked the car , put away my leftovers and sat down for a cup of tea around midnight
-
Hence my failure to be here yesterday
-
I hope you all had a lovely Easter
-
Hi, Vixmom!
-
Good night, all.
-
I was quite sad to see the Pope had died this morning , I liked this one.
-
I hope that the new Pope follows in his footsteps but I fear they’re going to push for someone super right wing
-
When I got in the car this morning my tire pressure warning light came on
-
I stopped and had my tires checked and the front right was low
-
The gas station guy kindly pumped it up and I headed to work
-
But the light came on again by time I arrived
-
So at lunchtime I went to BJs tire dept
-
One hour and $200 later I had a new tire
-
One new tire
-
I remember a time when $200 would buy you a full set of good tires
-
Oh it’s Rupert,I didn’t even notice
-
Sorry Rupert
-
Didn’t mean to overlook you
-
After work I dropped by to see WFO
-
And then home where dinner consisted of leftovers
-
Which made me quite happy
-
And that’s all the news I have
-
I have not caught up
-
Happy Birthday to Keith
-
Feel better vibes for Keith
-
Still listening to Schubert.
-
All the best people do.
-
After Schubert - it's just four or five more CDs to go.
-
Has anyone heard from Iris?

Sending prayers and vibes her way

PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!

Page eight.
-
Listening to the Bruckner fourth. Very nice performance by Ormandy of music I'm still trying to get with.
-
I'll keep trying. I have a couple of different cycles of all the Bruckner symphonies.
-
Maybe I'll have a few potato chips.
-
Don't try and stop me, Horace, please.
-
What am I, Dolly Gallagher Levi all of a sudden?

Et tu, Brute?

I'll try to be in bed by one.
