Well, you've read the notes, the notes were good the second time around, and now it is time for you to post until the second time around cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EDIFY!

BK (and anyone else who's interested), I can't remember if it's been posted (more than likely it has), but here's the video of Maria Friedman's first London production:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gNI_CqigiLA (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gNI_CqigiLA)
There are a lot less close-ups. ::)
-
We eat lots of chicken here. It can be prepared so many ways
-
I have been ill since Friday.
-
I thought it was just a cold but I seem to be getting worse instead of better
-
The home covid test came back negative
-
But this morning my throat is so painful it hurts to swallow.
-
I think I'll have to see the urgent care this morning
-
Good morning.
-
So sorry to hear you're sick, Vixmom. These viruses going around are nasty.
-
We were required to wear masks at the doctor's office yesterday. I told the receptionist thank you for that. I'm sure she was getting a lot of complaints. She said she was.
-
TOD: Skip's Fried Chicken.
-
I've never had it, but it's highly recommended.
-
We did get a little rain overnight. Like maybe around a tenth of an inch.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The only way I remember Mom fixing chicken was fried. It was delicious.
-
Must get ready for work.
-
Good morning, all.

I went to the theeder when that was presented as a Fathom event. Fun evening, but the image on the big screen was horrible. Dim and low-rez. It looked like they were projecting a DVD. Those were the bad old days of Fathom, I'm given to understand they do better now, overall.
-
As a good 1950s Ohioan, I grew up eating fried chicken on Sunday -- at home, at my relative's, at friends' places. It was what you did.
Home cooked fried chicken (and restaurant fried chicken when we'd eat out on Sunday) is very likely the only chicken I knew in my early years, and I loved it. I have early memories of it sizzling in the frying pan on the stove at my paternal grandmother's apartment in Columbus, and later in our own electric skillet. I'll bet that's what those electric skillets were used for almost exclusively then, at least in my family.
-
I have yet to get to The Golden Lamb in beautiful SW Ohio, and possibly even more shameful, I've never had Roscoe's in L.A.
Depraved on account of I'm deprived.
-
Fried chicken.
-
I shall be on the way to the getting place in a bit.
-
I enjoyed the notes.
-
I'm not sure about seeing the DVD - but we shall see.
-
But this morning my throat is so painful it hurts to swallow.
Sending vibes for relief from the pain.

TOD: Skip's Fried Chicken.
Skip thanks you for the mention!
These days, for me, he makes it more with chicken tenders and chicken cutlets, but same great taste!
-
From BK's notes today:
"There was total silence in the booth, including Mr. Tunick. That is, until Mr. Sondheim looked up from his New York Times and said, “Bruce is right.” Tunick went in and added it, and that’s what we used and I guess it’s now fixed in this orchestration."
Fabulous story, BK!

PAGE TWO!

Bruce Is Right is the title of the third volume of my memoirs.
-
Things were gotten.
And I am home.
-
I hope DR VIXMOM feels better and DR JEANNE can find her way back.
-
I meant to ask DR VIXMOM if her house survived being by itself during the blizzard?
-
Best vibes for vixmom feeling better and getting well soon!

There was an airplane. It was carrying DJT, a Priest, and a Boy Scout.
The pilot came running out of the cockpit with three parachutes. He said: "Engine trouble, guys. We've only got three parachutes. I have to go because I'll be needed in the investigation. Good luck!" He threw two of the parachutes on the floor of plane. He put the other one on his back and jumped out the door. :(
The men stood there for a moment. Then DJT said: "I am the smartest man in the world. The U.S. needs me to keep presidenting. I must be saved." He grabbed a parachute from the floor and jumped out the door. :P
The Priest said to the Boy Scout: "I've lived a long life. You have your entire life ahead of you - you take the parachute." :-[
The Boy Scout said: "Don't worry, Father. There is a parachute for both of us. The world's smartest man just jumped out with my backpack." :D
-
LOL, DR Jrand!
-
I'm up, I'm up - about four hours of sleep. Ended up watching some of the UK Merrily - I must say I did NOT like the cast but it was interesting seeing the staging. In the UK Gussie threw acid in the starlet's face. Unless we didn't see that in the close-ups version, they took it out - it's a horrible bit and completely unnecessary and melodramatic, not to mention Gussie would be going to jail.

That was smart.

I woke up to the sad news but had not read the details of his illness :(

Back from breakfast.
-
It was terrible. At a restaurant that's usually aces.
-
More about that in the notes.
-
Have now written to two potential blurbers.

I hate when that happens.

Somebody was having a bad day.
-
One of my favorite YOUTube bloggers - MollyBoy TV - he posts reaction videos to songs from the past - had a live breakdown last night on YouTube.
Very sad.
I hope he gets better and gets help.

Good afternoon.

Speaking of chicken ... I bought a couple at Costco this morning. They are tasty.

Hoping to hear how Vixmom's Urgent Care visit went.

I got a questionnaire about future Broadway shows on tour. The list was dismal.

I have watching for her to return with a quick update.

Keith got Wordle in three.
-
My favorite chicken dish my mother made was chicken paprika. The recipe came from a Hungarian woman that worked for us for awhile. She had been a professional cook and only knew how to make a very large pot of it. We always had loads of leftovers.

Congrats to Keith!

Thanks.

Happy Lunar New Year, y’all.
-
Happy Mardi Gras!
-
Vibes for Vixmom!
-
My fourth graders were pretty good today.
-
I’m now indulging in some New Year’s treats.
-
It’s good fortune to eat spring rolls.
-
It’s good to eat noodles for long life.
-
And it’s good to eat fish so that everything will be fresh in the new year. It has something to do with eating up leftovers, but I don’t think I understand it all.
-
So I had spring rolls, then a noodle dish with squid (the closest I could get to fish).
-
Tomorrow early voting begins for me.
-
Let’s flee three.
-
We want more.
-
Four!

-
I enjoyed a Chicken Bake at Costco this morning. My Mardi Gras fling before Lent.
-
So it will be carb-free until Easter morning.
-
Lent lasts a long time.
-
Good luck, Laura. ( He typed while eating ice cream.)
-
LOL
-
Had a telephonic conversation and promptly dozed off in the comfy armchair for two hours.
-
Haven't heard from either blurber ask. I'm going to tell one of them to forget it - it's someone who's blurbed before but who I stopped asking because he didn't care for the two books I'd asked him to blurb, although he said he'd do the blurb anyway. I did not want that then and certainly don't want it now, and I thought long and hard about even asking him to do this one, but since I haven't heard a peep, I'll just pass.
-
Raining again.
-
Coming down pretty good by the sound of it.
-
Since I left most of my breakfast, I had some hot dogs here that I made. Now I'm waiting for a sweet to arrive.
-
Lent lasts a long time.
Hopefully long enough to lose five pounds.
-
I am curious about this disappointing breakfast. It's hard to ruin breakfast. But then, I'm a Denny's kind of gal.
-
I don't think we've gone out for breakfast since my DH retired. That's been a minute.
-

That's one of my favorites too. My Mom didn't make it, we had it at a local Hungarian restaurant that opened when I was a high school senior. I've made it many times but never quite as good as my memory of that first one.
-
Today was a great waterfall hike in North Kohala. Now off to the group farewell dinner.

Watching Barbary Coast.
-
Great cast: Miriam Hopkins, Edward G. Robinson, Joel McCrae, Walter Brennan.
-
Director: Howard Hawks. Screenplay: Hecht and MacArthur
-
But I ain’t feeling it. Despite its pedigree.
-
I’m not going to finish it tonight.
-
I’m exhausted.
-
But before I go …
-
One more.

Five!

Watching Barbary Coast.
I'd rather read Barbary Lane.

TOD: Skip's Fried Chicken.
YES!!!
-
Hoping to hear how Vixmom's Urgent Care visit went.
Funny you should ask...
-
Vixdad insisted on driving me and I was too miserable to argue
-
Fortunately
-
They took me right in and started taking my vitals..
-
BP 90/70
-
Seems a bit low
-
I start feeling dizzy and getting tunnel vision
-
Trying to talk is an effort
-
Nurse checks vitals
BP 76/40
-
Everything goes dark
-
Room is suddenly full of EMTs
-
The ambulance ride was very bumpy
-
We got to visit the brand new ER at the local hospital..
-
Fancy sliding double glass doors with built in venetion blinds instead of the curtain that gave you no privacy at all
-
Next thing I know I am connected to more wires than a marionette
-
They hooked me up with an IV, took some blood , and EKG, a nasal swab and told me I was "under observation "
-
10 hours, 2 EKGs, 2 blood tests and 3 IVs later they ruled out covid, flu and strep
-
I had my money on strep or covid
-
Apparently it is "a virus going around"
-
And I was very very dehydrated
-
I understand I scared the beejeebers out of poor Vixdad as while I was out words like "stroke" and "cardiac event" were being bandied about by the medical folk on hand
-
Anyway I'm home now.
-
Feeling much better
-
I have promised to refrain from taking any more decongestant meds ( I took Alka Seltzer plus cold medicine 4 days in a row)
-
And I have promised to drink water
-
The nurses or aides or med students whatever they were came in with a list of old lady questions
-
Can you walk?
-
Do you use a walker?
-
How often do you use a cane?
-
Do you have trouble with bed sores?
-
I was waiting for them to start doing a dementia test
-
I think I scared them away by asking if they had any more old people questions
-
They tried to claim they asked EVERYONE these questions
-
My "uh huh" probably made them feel I doubted the veracity of that statement
-
Too bad, I could have found out if I was qualified to be the POTUS
-
My favorite chicken dish my mother made was chicken paprika. The recipe came from a Hungarian woman that worked for us for awhile. She had been a professional cook and only knew how to make a very large pot of it. We always had loads of leftovers.
I love a good paprikash. My Hungarian grandfather made a marvelous one i have never quite duplicated
-
But the Ukrainian restaurant Veselka in NYC's East Village makes an amazing paprikash, I have nearly every time I visit.
-
There certainly is something going around and it does hang on, Sloopy, for much too long.
-
Jack. Thank you for asking about how the house fared while we were away
-
We were very lucky, despite getting almost a good of snow with drifts of over 3 foot on our front porch. We never lost heat.
-
I called a guy from the local FB community page and he and a friend came iver snd fug out tge driveway and stairs and path.
But it cost me deep in the purse
-
The week we got home the furnace failed
-
But fortunately Vixdad was working from home, discovered the issue and had the furnace guy over abd the gear back on before any damage could occur
-
I must go to sleep now.

TOD part 2: My favorite chicken dish is my spice rub chicken. It's broiled like we reverse-engineered from a trip to Italy, but with the addition of a spice rub using a Chris Schlesinger recipe.

Joshua Henry sings Make Them Hear You.
https://youtu.be/IXwxJY_nfsg?si=-2uJlaAVyST6Ca1o
He is so good in this role. I realized a couple weeks ago that we saw him as Aaron Burr when Hamilton did its first tour of San Francisco.
-
Great to hear bk's viewpoint on Merrily. I totally get his perspective about the play. I agree about the original version but I think the revisions, especially adding Growing Up, make him more sympathetic in Act One. I understand why others disagree.
-
I think the board may also be screwy.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
The notes have been hacked again - hopefully fixed - you can read them, but no images, so you may want to wait. So frustrating.
